Review: June 14, 2025 Completion: May 16, 2025

Long wait on materials, installation was good, but not what I would call great (some dents, some uneven areas). The overall project had the potential to be fantastic (due to the construction of the house) and it fell short of that, but still looks great. Also dissappointed that they could not provide me with a certification letter for the wind, hail, and fire resistance. So installation had no effect on my homeowners insurance. At my previous home in Texas, that was standard for all roofing contractors. See previous comments

Review: May 14, 2025 Completion: November 19, 2024

This is the second review I have ever given. Absolutely couldn’t be happier about our new roof/skylights and the folks I dealt with during the whole process. Begins with the no pressure sales, support staff and ends with the people who did the work. Work was done in November and waited to give this review only because I wanted to see how it handled a Vermont winter and see if any issues came up. No issues, none! Not sure why, but I used a lot less oil this winter (colder and snowier winter than normal). Maybe my 30 years old skylights or something to do with the roof system? If you are on the fence about using Interlock Roofing or the Shake Shingle type of roof, my advice to you would be to get off the fence and pull the trigger!

Review: February 11, 2025 Completion: December 9, 2024

Communications with the office could be improved. Dropping and losing nails and scraps in the snow is understandable but not picking up excess nails dropped while filling nail pouches is not okay. Also as a non smoker cigarette butts on the ground are definitely not okay.

Review: November 21, 2024 Completion: October 29, 2024

We just put an Interlock metal roof on our house. We were very happy with Chris's presentation and and decided to move forward with them. They started when they said they would and the crew worked full days until it was complete. The install manager Paul stopped by multiple times and the crew chief, Nazar was very diligent. We look forward to many years ahead of trouble free living through Vermonts wind, rain, and snow. Thank you Chris, and the office staff.

Review: April 18, 2022 Completion: December 14, 2021

Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Responsiveness, Value We were looking to replace our shingle roof with a standing seam metal roof for our home in Vermont. We called over ten roofing contractors and received quotes from four of them. I had the best feeling about Interlock Roofing from the beginning, mostly due to my interactions with Mark. Additionally, they were the most competitive on price. Once we committed and signed a contract, we dealt with Jennifer and Paul to coordinate and complete the installation. They were incredibly responsive, and timely, and the entire project was completed in four days. Such a pleasure to work with. The entire process was seamless, and the roof looks phenomenal. Very pleased overall. Service: Roof installation

Review: April 18, 2022 Completion: May 6, 2019

Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, Value Professional, pleasant & responsive staff (Jonathan & Jennifer). The roof is beautiful to look at & highly functional. There was a delay in installation because of VT weather, but that was unavoidable. Jonathan reached out to us after two years to check on us & the roof, which we thought was very considerate & just good business practice. We are very happy with the roof & would recommend Interlock to any of our friends. Service: Roof installation

Review: January 21, 2019 Completion: December 1, 2018

I have two concerns/complaints about my new Interlock roof. A few places along the ridge cap appear raised - instead of being completely straight and level horizontally, there are a few places where two shingles meet in a slightly raised, A-shape. Also there are several places on the porch roof and on the roof between the garage and main house where the shingles are depressed - flattened or "crushed concavely". My guess is it's from being knelt on by the installers and I don't like how it looks. I was told the roof would be installed in October. It wasn't started until November and it wasn't finished until a week before Christmas. The installers endured terribly cold and wet weather and I'm concerned it affected the quality of the installation.

Review: January 13, 2019 Completion: December 22, 2018

Scheduling vs. actual appearance of crew (as above) could have been communicated more clearly. It seems the project was pushed into late December causing my concern as to low temperature (zero \*F) affecting product and installation. So far though, the workmanship and function appears to be at 100%. A few major wind storms since completion had no ill effect, and the intense rain storms have resulted in no penetration into the home. (I could not say that prior to installation!)

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Danville

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Danville, Vermont. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Danville.

How does a metal roof handle Danville's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Aluminum's smooth, hard surface sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt, which traps moisture and ice. With about 187 cm of snow annually and 89 freeze-thaw days per year in Danville, the slick metal profile prevents ice dams where water would otherwise refreeze at the eave and back up under shingles. The four-way interlocking panels remain structurally sound through repeated freeze-thaw stress because aluminum's oxide layer—which self-heals when scratched—doesn't degrade the way asphalt fibers do. Snow guards can be added if you want to control shedding, but the roof itself won't deteriorate from the cycling.

Why should I choose aluminum roofing instead of steel if I'm concerned about rust?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and corrodes in steel. Instead, aluminum develops a thin, transparent oxide layer that actually protects the metal and self-heals when scratched or exposed. This distinction matters in Vermont's wet climate, where Danville receives about 897 mm of rain yearly and experiences marine-influenced moisture patterns. Steel roofing requires painted coatings to prevent rust and fails when that paint chips; Interlock's roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) is naturally corrosion-resistant, backed by a lifetime limited warranty covering rusting.

Will a metal roof crack or fail after years of freezing and thawing?

No. Aluminum's crystalline structure and natural flexibility allow it to expand and contract through freeze-thaw cycles without cracking, splitting, or curling—all common failures in asphalt and wood shingles. Danville experiences roughly 89 freeze-thaw days annually, making this durability critical. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating (warranted 30 years against chalking and fading per ASTM D4214/D2244) protects the substrate while the metal itself remains stable across temperature extremes. Unlike slate or concrete tile, which can crack when moisture penetrates and freezes inside the material, aluminum's non-porous surface prevents water absorption entirely, eliminating internal stress.

Do I need to reinforce my home's structure to support a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is necessary. Interlock's aluminum panels are extraordinarily light—the Mediterranean Tile profile installs at only 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This lightweight design installs directly over most existing asphalt roofs without adding load, and it easily exceeds structural codes (ICC-ES ESR-1790, 2025). Compare this to the weight that would require reinforcement: traditional tile weighs 10–20 times more. Because Danville homes already support their current roofing, the aluminum upgrade poses zero structural risk and eliminates the expense of reinforcing beams or trusses—a cost that would add thousands to a slate or tile retrofit.

Can a metal roof withstand Vermont's wind gusts and storms?

Yes. Interlock metal roofing is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification, far exceeding Danville's typical peak gusts around 117 km/h. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels lock together in all directions, creating a unified system that distributes wind load across the entire roof rather than allowing individual shingles to lift or tear. The system's design is proven in coastal salt-air environments and even Antarctic research stations, so Vermont's windier days pose no challenge. UL 2218 Class 4 hail impact rating (the highest available) further confirms the panels' structural integrity under extreme weather stress.

Will my homeowner's insurance recognize a metal roof's hail resistance?

Many insurers offer discounts for UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated roofing, and Interlock holds that highest classification. The warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches, a level of protection rarely matched by asphalt or traditional materials. Vermont's climate doesn't feature the hail frequency of plains states, but the impact resistance creates a measurable reduction in claims risk—something insurers recognize and often reward. Contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 certification to discuss available discounts; many homeowners see policy savings that partially offset the installation cost over the roof's lifetime, turning hail protection into financial advantage.

How much maintenance does an aluminum metal roof require compared to asphalt or slate?

Aluminum metal roofing requires virtually no maintenance beyond routine gutter cleaning—no replacing damaged shingles, no re-sealing, no treating algae or moss. Asphalt shingles deteriorate from UV exposure and temperature cycling, requiring repairs after about 15–20 years; slate cracks and splits, creating expensive spot repairs; wood shakes split and rot. Interlock's CALGreen-verified design delivers reduced maintenance by eliminating the sources of failure: no asphalt breakdown, no wood absorption, no ice dam buildup due to the metal's smooth, slick surface. With 187 cm of snow and 897 mm of rain yearly, Danville's moisture would accelerate asphalt degradation. Aluminum's non-porous surface resists all moisture-related damage, making it the lowest-maintenance permanent roof option available.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost over asphalt in the long run?

Yes. An asphalt roof typically lasts 15–25 years and requires costly repairs throughout its life; a metal roof lasts 40–60+ years with virtually no maintenance expense. The lifetime limited, non-prorated Guardian Warranty covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance for the original owner, transferable for 50 years from completion—meaning your next owner gets substantial coverage too. Over one lifetime, you'll replace asphalt twice or more; with metal, you install once and pass it to the next owner. Current financing offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation, effectively reducing the initial cost differential. When you amortize durability, transferability, zero maintenance, and energy savings across decades, metal roofing becomes the last roof you'll buy.

Is aluminum roofing better for the environment than asphalt shingles?

Yes. Approximately 95% of Interlock's aluminum is recyclable at end-of-life, and the panels are manufactured from recycled content. Traditional asphalt shingles, by contrast, are torn off every 15–25 years and sent to landfills by the millions of tons annually—a waste cycle that never ends. With Danville's 897 mm annual rainfall and 187 cm of snow, the region's climate accelerates asphalt degradation, meaning more frequent replacements and more landfill burden. Aluminum's durability breaks that cycle: one installation lasts your lifetime and the next owner's, eliminating multiple tear-offs and disposal costs. The panels' lightweight design also reduces transportation emissions during installation. Choosing aluminum stops feeding the landfill system and turns your roof into a durable, perpetually recyclable asset.

Is there an experienced local installer for metal roofing in Danville?

Yes. Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. has served this region since 1999, bringing over 25 years of local expertise to Caledonia County. They understand Danville's snow loads, freeze-thaw demands, and the specific installation requirements that ensure your roof meets ICC-ES ESR-1790 compliance and warranty terms. Working with an established local installer means faster service, accountability, and knowledge of regional building codes and inspectors. Current financing includes no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation—terms available directly through your regional team. A locally rooted contractor also handles warranty service efficiently if questions arise, rather than coordinating with distant specialists unfamiliar with the region's climate and building styles.
