Review: June 14, 2025 Completion: May 16, 2025

Long wait on materials, installation was good, but not what I would call great (some dents, some uneven areas). The overall project had the potential to be fantastic (due to the construction of the house) and it fell short of that, but still looks great. Also dissappointed that they could not provide me with a certification letter for the wind, hail, and fire resistance. So installation had no effect on my homeowners insurance. At my previous home in Texas, that was standard for all roofing contractors. See previous comments

Review: May 14, 2025 Completion: November 19, 2024

This is the second review I have ever given. Absolutely couldn’t be happier about our new roof/skylights and the folks I dealt with during the whole process. Begins with the no pressure sales, support staff and ends with the people who did the work. Work was done in November and waited to give this review only because I wanted to see how it handled a Vermont winter and see if any issues came up. No issues, none! Not sure why, but I used a lot less oil this winter (colder and snowier winter than normal). Maybe my 30 years old skylights or something to do with the roof system? If you are on the fence about using Interlock Roofing or the Shake Shingle type of roof, my advice to you would be to get off the fence and pull the trigger!

Review: February 11, 2025 Completion: December 9, 2024

Communications with the office could be improved. Dropping and losing nails and scraps in the snow is understandable but not picking up excess nails dropped while filling nail pouches is not okay. Also as a non smoker cigarette butts on the ground are definitely not okay.

Review: November 21, 2024 Completion: October 29, 2024

We just put an Interlock metal roof on our house. We were very happy with Chris's presentation and and decided to move forward with them. They started when they said they would and the crew worked full days until it was complete. The install manager Paul stopped by multiple times and the crew chief, Nazar was very diligent. We look forward to many years ahead of trouble free living through Vermonts wind, rain, and snow. Thank you Chris, and the office staff.

Review: April 18, 2022 Completion: December 14, 2021

Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Responsiveness, Value We were looking to replace our shingle roof with a standing seam metal roof for our home in Vermont. We called over ten roofing contractors and received quotes from four of them. I had the best feeling about Interlock Roofing from the beginning, mostly due to my interactions with Mark. Additionally, they were the most competitive on price. Once we committed and signed a contract, we dealt with Jennifer and Paul to coordinate and complete the installation. They were incredibly responsive, and timely, and the entire project was completed in four days. Such a pleasure to work with. The entire process was seamless, and the roof looks phenomenal. Very pleased overall. Service: Roof installation

Review: April 18, 2022 Completion: May 6, 2019

Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, Value Professional, pleasant & responsive staff (Jonathan & Jennifer). The roof is beautiful to look at & highly functional. There was a delay in installation because of VT weather, but that was unavoidable. Jonathan reached out to us after two years to check on us & the roof, which we thought was very considerate & just good business practice. We are very happy with the roof & would recommend Interlock to any of our friends. Service: Roof installation

Review: January 21, 2019 Completion: December 1, 2018

I have two concerns/complaints about my new Interlock roof. A few places along the ridge cap appear raised - instead of being completely straight and level horizontally, there are a few places where two shingles meet in a slightly raised, A-shape. Also there are several places on the porch roof and on the roof between the garage and main house where the shingles are depressed - flattened or "crushed concavely". My guess is it's from being knelt on by the installers and I don't like how it looks. I was told the roof would be installed in October. It wasn't started until November and it wasn't finished until a week before Christmas. The installers endured terribly cold and wet weather and I'm concerned it affected the quality of the installation.

Review: January 13, 2019 Completion: December 22, 2018

Scheduling vs. actual appearance of crew (as above) could have been communicated more clearly. It seems the project was pushed into late December causing my concern as to low temperature (zero \*F) affecting product and installation. So far though, the workmanship and function appears to be at 100%. A few major wind storms since completion had no ill effect, and the intense rain storms have resulted in no penetration into the home. (I could not say that prior to installation!)

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in East Lyndon

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in East Lyndon, Vermont. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in East Lyndon.

How does a metal roof handle East Lyndon's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Interlock metal panels shed snow effectively because aluminum's smooth surface and thermal properties resist ice damming better than asphalt. East Lyndon averages about 187 cm of snow annually and roughly 89 freeze-thaw days per year—conditions that crack and curl asphalt shingles. The four-way interlocking design prevents water infiltration when snow melts and refreezes. Aluminum self-heals its oxide layer, so it won't degrade through repeated freeze-thaw stress like wood shake or composite materials. Snow guards are available if you want to control snow shedding from steeper pitches.

Why won't my aluminum metal roof rust in Vermont winters?

Aluminum chemically cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes in moisture and air. Instead, aluminum develops a transparent oxide layer that self-heals when scratched, protecting the metal beneath indefinitely. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating, applied to both sides of every panel, adds a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading. In East Lyndon's 897 mm annual rainfall and freeze-thaw environment, this dual-layer protection means your roof won't corrode, stain, or weaken over decades the way steel, copper, or steel with zinc coatings eventually do.

Will freeze-thaw damage affect an aluminum metal roof?

No. Aluminum expands and contracts predictably with temperature swings and won't crack, splinter, or lose structural integrity through freeze-thaw cycling. The 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) remains ductile across the full range of Vermont winters, where temperatures swing from below freezing to thaw and back roughly 89 times per year. Wood shake splits under this stress; asphalt becomes brittle; concrete and clay tiles crack. The interlocking panel design accommodates micro-movement without gaps or fastener stress, and the coating remains flexible, so the material survives the repeated thermal shock that shortens the life of other roofing systems.

Can a metal roof withstand Vermont wind gusts?

Yes. Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification—well above East Lyndon's typical gust speeds, which average around 117 km/h (about 73 mph). The four-way interlocking design creates a unified system where each panel overlaps and locks its neighbors, distributing wind load across the entire roof plane rather than relying on fasteners alone. This mechanical redundancy is why the warranty covers perforation from hail up to 1.5 inches (UL 2218 Class 4 rating). In this region's wind climate, the interlocking grip prevents individual panels from lifting or fluttering, a common failure point for traditional standing-seam or exposed-fastener roofs.

What's the hail rating on Interlock metal roofing, and will my insurance notice?

Interlock panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This durability often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts, though your agent will confirm based on your policy and carrier. East Lyndon experiences moderate hail risk; the UL 2218 Class 4 rating far exceeds what asphalt shingles can withstand. Unlike tile or slate, the lightweight aluminum won't shatter on impact or require replacement of surrounding panels. Document the rating with your insurer to explore potential premium reductions or claim benefits if hail does strike.

Will a metal roof reduce cooling costs in summer?

energy-efficient colors reflect heat rather than absorb it, reducing cooling demand compared to asphalt. Interlock's Cool Roof Rating Council rating includes thermal emissivity up to 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny)—meaning the roof bounces sunlight away instead of storing heat. East Lyndon receives about 2816 sunshine hours yearly, so this reflectivity adds up across warm months. The energy benefit is most pronounced in June through August; winter heating isn't significantly affected. If you choose a lighter or energy-efficiency color, you'll see lower air-conditioning costs and reduced heat transmission into the attic during peak summer days, especially compared to dark asphalt.

What maintenance does a metal roof need?

Interlock metal roofing requires no routine maintenance beyond standard gutter cleaning. The non-porous aluminum surface won't collect algae, rot, or degrade the way asphalt, wood, or tile do. No resealing, no recoating, no asphalt granule replacement. East Lyndon's 897 mm annual rain and 187 cm snow shed cleanly off the smooth panels. The coating carries a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading, so you won't refinish it. The Guardian warranty covers splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—defects that force costly repairs on asphalt or wood roofs within 15-25 years. This durability and hands-off maintenance is why metal roofing is often called the last roof you'll install.

Do I need to reinforce my house structure for a metal roof?

No. The Interlock Mediterranean Tile profile, for example, installs at just 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than real concrete or clay tile—and can go directly over most existing roofing without structural work. The Shake profile weighs 0.58 lb/sq ft and the Slate 0.41 lb/sq ft, all negligible compared to the dead load asphalt already carries. This means you avoid the $10,000+ cost of beam reinforcement required for traditional tile. The four-way interlocking design distributes the minimal weight evenly, and the panels install over your existing roof, avoiding tear-off labor and landfill disposal. In East Lyndon, this translates to faster installation, lower total project cost, and no contractor debate over structural capacity.

What warranty backs an Interlock metal roof?

The Guardian warranty is a non-prorated lifetime limited material warranty for you as the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It transfers to the next owner for 50 years from completion, adding serious value at resale. Most asphalt roofs fail within 15-25 years and offer no transferable protection. The 30-year coating warranty separately guarantees the Alunar fluorocarbon finish against chalking and fading. In a climate like East Lyndon's, where 89 annual freeze-thaw days and 187 cm of snow stress traditional materials, this lifetime coverage means you'll never face a surprise $15,000 roof replacement—and the next owner gets half a century of coverage, a major selling point for buyers thinking long-term.
