Review: June 14, 2025 Completion: May 16, 2025

Long wait on materials, installation was good, but not what I would call great (some dents, some uneven areas). The overall project had the potential to be fantastic (due to the construction of the house) and it fell short of that, but still looks great. Also dissappointed that they could not provide me with a certification letter for the wind, hail, and fire resistance. So installation had no effect on my homeowners insurance. At my previous home in Texas, that was standard for all roofing contractors. See previous comments

Review: May 14, 2025 Completion: November 19, 2024

This is the second review I have ever given. Absolutely couldn’t be happier about our new roof/skylights and the folks I dealt with during the whole process. Begins with the no pressure sales, support staff and ends with the people who did the work. Work was done in November and waited to give this review only because I wanted to see how it handled a Vermont winter and see if any issues came up. No issues, none! Not sure why, but I used a lot less oil this winter (colder and snowier winter than normal). Maybe my 30 years old skylights or something to do with the roof system? If you are on the fence about using Interlock Roofing or the Shake Shingle type of roof, my advice to you would be to get off the fence and pull the trigger!

Review: February 11, 2025 Completion: December 9, 2024

Communications with the office could be improved. Dropping and losing nails and scraps in the snow is understandable but not picking up excess nails dropped while filling nail pouches is not okay. Also as a non smoker cigarette butts on the ground are definitely not okay.

Review: November 21, 2024 Completion: October 29, 2024

We just put an Interlock metal roof on our house. We were very happy with Chris's presentation and and decided to move forward with them. They started when they said they would and the crew worked full days until it was complete. The install manager Paul stopped by multiple times and the crew chief, Nazar was very diligent. We look forward to many years ahead of trouble free living through Vermonts wind, rain, and snow. Thank you Chris, and the office staff.

Review: April 18, 2022 Completion: December 14, 2021

Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Responsiveness, Value We were looking to replace our shingle roof with a standing seam metal roof for our home in Vermont. We called over ten roofing contractors and received quotes from four of them. I had the best feeling about Interlock Roofing from the beginning, mostly due to my interactions with Mark. Additionally, they were the most competitive on price. Once we committed and signed a contract, we dealt with Jennifer and Paul to coordinate and complete the installation. They were incredibly responsive, and timely, and the entire project was completed in four days. Such a pleasure to work with. The entire process was seamless, and the roof looks phenomenal. Very pleased overall. Service: Roof installation

Review: April 18, 2022 Completion: May 6, 2019

Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, Value Professional, pleasant & responsive staff (Jonathan & Jennifer). The roof is beautiful to look at & highly functional. There was a delay in installation because of VT weather, but that was unavoidable. Jonathan reached out to us after two years to check on us & the roof, which we thought was very considerate & just good business practice. We are very happy with the roof & would recommend Interlock to any of our friends. Service: Roof installation

Review: January 21, 2019 Completion: December 1, 2018

I have two concerns/complaints about my new Interlock roof. A few places along the ridge cap appear raised - instead of being completely straight and level horizontally, there are a few places where two shingles meet in a slightly raised, A-shape. Also there are several places on the porch roof and on the roof between the garage and main house where the shingles are depressed - flattened or "crushed concavely". My guess is it's from being knelt on by the installers and I don't like how it looks. I was told the roof would be installed in October. It wasn't started until November and it wasn't finished until a week before Christmas. The installers endured terribly cold and wet weather and I'm concerned it affected the quality of the installation.

Review: January 13, 2019 Completion: December 22, 2018

Scheduling vs. actual appearance of crew (as above) could have been communicated more clearly. It seems the project was pushed into late December causing my concern as to low temperature (zero \*F) affecting product and installation. So far though, the workmanship and function appears to be at 100%. A few major wind storms since completion had no ill effect, and the intense rain storms have resulted in no penetration into the home. (I could not say that prior to installation!)

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in East Burke

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in East Burke, Vermont. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in East Burke.

How does a metal roof handle East Burke's heavy snow load and ice dams?

Metal roofing sheds snow and ice more reliably than asphalt because its smooth, interlocking aluminum panels create a continuous surface with no gaps for ice to grip. East Burke receives about 187 cm of snow annually, and the four-way interlocking design prevents panels from separating under freeze-thaw stress. The lightweight aluminum—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—eliminates the structural load concerns that heavy snow poses to traditional materials, so no reinforcement is required. Snow guards can be installed to control seasonal slides.

Will freeze-thaw cycles damage aluminum metal roofing?

No. Aluminum expands and contracts with temperature swings, but it does not crack, split, or curl—the three failure modes that plague asphalt and wood in freeze-thaw climates. East Burke experiences roughly 89 freeze-thaw days per year, making durability in this cycle critical. The 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum alloy is engineered for thermal cycling, and the Alunar 70% PVDF coating (warranted 30 years) protects against oxidation. The Guardian lifetime limited warranty explicitly covers cracking and splitting, confirming confidence in freeze-thaw performance.

Can aluminum roofing rust in Vermont's wet climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. East Burke averages 897 mm of rain per year, creating conditions where rust would cripple steel roofing—but aluminum's oxide layer actually strengthens when exposed to moisture and self-heals when scratched. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is applied to both sides of every panel, providing an extra barrier in wet climates. This dual-coat strategy is why Interlock panels have been installed successfully from coastal salt-air homes to research stations in Antarctica, and why the warranty covers rusting with no exceptions.

How does a metal roof stand up to Vermont's wind and gusts?

East Burke experiences typical daily winds around 16 km/h but gusts reaching 117 km/h, and Interlock metal roofing is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels lock together mechanically, distributing wind load across the entire roof system rather than relying on nailing alone. This design earned an ICC-ES evaluation report (ESR-1790) confirming compliance with IBC/IRC wind requirements. No special reinforcement is needed—the interlocking geometry itself is the structural advantage.

Does metal roofing protect against hail, and can it lower insurance costs?

Yes. Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This non-combustible aluminum construction often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts on both wind and impact coverage. Many insurers recognize that aluminum roofing does not degrade in impact resistance over time, unlike asphalt shingles. Contact your provider about premium reductions; documented hail performance and a lifetime limited warranty can make a measurable difference in your annual cost.

What warranty comes with a metal roof, and how long will it really last?

The Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It transfers once to the next owner, granting them 50 years of coverage from completion. Interlock panels have been manufactured since 1998, and installed examples are now 25+ years old with no premature failures. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating alone is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214 measured), protecting the aluminum underneath from UV and weathering across East Burke's roughly 2816 annual sunshine hours.

How long does metal roof installation take, and can it go over my existing roof?

Installation timelines depend on roof size and weather, but metal roofing is faster than tear-off-and-replace because it installs directly over most existing asphalt or wood shingles—no removal, no landfill waste. The extraordinary lightweight aluminum (the Slate profile installs at roughly 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural reinforcement is required, even when layering over an old roof. Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. has served this region since 1999 and handles site-specific scheduling. The ICC-ES evaluation report (ESR-1790, reissued 2025) confirms installation protocols for both new decks and retrofit applications.

Do metal roofs reduce cooling costs and help with Vermont's summer heat?

energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect heat rather than absorbing it, reducing cooling load in summer. Reflectance values reach up to 0.55 on lighter colors like Aged Copper Penny, and thermal emissivity is rated 0.84—both measured by the Cool Roof Rating Council. Although East Burke's mean temperature is only 5.2°C annually, summer cooling still carries a cost, and every degree of reduced roof surface temperature lowers air-conditioning demand. Over a 50+ year lifespan, this energy advantage compounds, particularly in the roughly 2816 annual sunshine hours when reflective properties are most active.

How much maintenance does a metal roof require compared to asphalt or wood?

Metal roofing requires virtually no maintenance. Asphalt shingles need annual inspection, moss removal, and gutter cleaning; wood shakes require regular inspection for rot and insect damage; tile demands resealing and crack repair. Aluminum does not rot, split, or attract moss because it is non-organic and non-porous. The CALGreen-verified design confirms reduced maintenance claims. In East Burke's 897 mm annual rainfall and 89 freeze-thaw days, avoiding decay cycles saves time and money. Occasional gutter cleaning is all that is needed—the same task every roof demands. The Guardian warranty even covers maintenance-related issues, giving you peace of mind without ongoing contractor visits.

Who installs Interlock metal roofing in East Burke, and what is their track record?

Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. has served East Burke and Caledonia County since 1999, bringing 25+ years of regional experience to every installation. They understand Vermont's heavy snow loads (about 187 cm annually), freeze-thaw cycles (roughly 89 per year), and wind gusts reaching 117 km/h—and they install Interlock panels to full specification to handle these conditions. As the authorized local installer, they manage permits, scheduling, and quality control, and they stand behind Guardian warranty claims. Your roof is installed by crews who know this region's climate inside and out, not a transient contractor unfamiliar with local conditions.
