Review: June 14, 2025 Completion: May 16, 2025

Long wait on materials, installation was good, but not what I would call great (some dents, some uneven areas). The overall project had the potential to be fantastic (due to the construction of the house) and it fell short of that, but still looks great. Also dissappointed that they could not provide me with a certification letter for the wind, hail, and fire resistance. So installation had no effect on my homeowners insurance. At my previous home in Texas, that was standard for all roofing contractors. See previous comments

Review: May 14, 2025 Completion: November 19, 2024

This is the second review I have ever given. Absolutely couldn’t be happier about our new roof/skylights and the folks I dealt with during the whole process. Begins with the no pressure sales, support staff and ends with the people who did the work. Work was done in November and waited to give this review only because I wanted to see how it handled a Vermont winter and see if any issues came up. No issues, none! Not sure why, but I used a lot less oil this winter (colder and snowier winter than normal). Maybe my 30 years old skylights or something to do with the roof system? If you are on the fence about using Interlock Roofing or the Shake Shingle type of roof, my advice to you would be to get off the fence and pull the trigger!

Review: February 11, 2025 Completion: December 9, 2024

Communications with the office could be improved. Dropping and losing nails and scraps in the snow is understandable but not picking up excess nails dropped while filling nail pouches is not okay. Also as a non smoker cigarette butts on the ground are definitely not okay.

Review: November 21, 2024 Completion: October 29, 2024

We just put an Interlock metal roof on our house. We were very happy with Chris's presentation and and decided to move forward with them. They started when they said they would and the crew worked full days until it was complete. The install manager Paul stopped by multiple times and the crew chief, Nazar was very diligent. We look forward to many years ahead of trouble free living through Vermonts wind, rain, and snow. Thank you Chris, and the office staff.

Review: April 18, 2022 Completion: December 14, 2021

Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Responsiveness, Value We were looking to replace our shingle roof with a standing seam metal roof for our home in Vermont. We called over ten roofing contractors and received quotes from four of them. I had the best feeling about Interlock Roofing from the beginning, mostly due to my interactions with Mark. Additionally, they were the most competitive on price. Once we committed and signed a contract, we dealt with Jennifer and Paul to coordinate and complete the installation. They were incredibly responsive, and timely, and the entire project was completed in four days. Such a pleasure to work with. The entire process was seamless, and the roof looks phenomenal. Very pleased overall. Service: Roof installation

Review: April 18, 2022 Completion: May 6, 2019

Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, Value Professional, pleasant & responsive staff (Jonathan & Jennifer). The roof is beautiful to look at & highly functional. There was a delay in installation because of VT weather, but that was unavoidable. Jonathan reached out to us after two years to check on us & the roof, which we thought was very considerate & just good business practice. We are very happy with the roof & would recommend Interlock to any of our friends. Service: Roof installation

Review: January 21, 2019 Completion: December 1, 2018

I have two concerns/complaints about my new Interlock roof. A few places along the ridge cap appear raised - instead of being completely straight and level horizontally, there are a few places where two shingles meet in a slightly raised, A-shape. Also there are several places on the porch roof and on the roof between the garage and main house where the shingles are depressed - flattened or "crushed concavely". My guess is it's from being knelt on by the installers and I don't like how it looks. I was told the roof would be installed in October. It wasn't started until November and it wasn't finished until a week before Christmas. The installers endured terribly cold and wet weather and I'm concerned it affected the quality of the installation.

Review: January 13, 2019 Completion: December 22, 2018

Scheduling vs. actual appearance of crew (as above) could have been communicated more clearly. It seems the project was pushed into late December causing my concern as to low temperature (zero \*F) affecting product and installation. So far though, the workmanship and function appears to be at 100%. A few major wind storms since completion had no ill effect, and the intense rain storms have resulted in no penetration into the home. (I could not say that prior to installation!)

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Burke

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Burke, Vermont. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Burke.

How does metal roofing handle Burke's heavy snow load and ice dams?

Interlock metal panels shed snow effectively because their smooth, interlocking design prevents ice dams from forming along the eaves—a critical advantage in a climate that averages 187 cm of snow annually. The panels themselves weigh only 0.41 to 0.59 lb/sq ft depending on profile, so they carry no structural risk even under heavy accumulation. Unlike asphalt shingles, which absorb moisture and can trap ice, aluminum's oxide layer remains impermeable; snow slides cleanly without the freeze-thaw degradation that shortens asphalt life over Burke's typical 89 freeze-thaw days per year. Optional snow guards can be installed if you prefer controlled shedding.

Why does metal roofing outperform asphalt in freeze-thaw cycles?

Aluminum has no water absorption pathway, so it cannot split, crack, or curl as asphalt and wood do during Burke's roughly 89 annual freeze-thaw cycles. When temperatures swing around the freezing point—common in Caledonia County—water trapped in traditional roofing expands and breaks the material down. Interlock's roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) moves minimally with temperature and its two-sided Alunar coating seals both surfaces, preventing moisture infiltration at panel seams. After 25+ years of installations from coastal salt-air climates to polar research stations, this material shows no freeze-thaw failure. Your warranty covers cracking and curling for the lifetime of your ownership.

Can aluminum metal roofing rust in Vermont's wet climate?

No—aluminum is fundamentally different from steel because it contains no iron, which is required for rust. With Burke receiving about 897 mm of annual rainfall, corrosion is a real concern for steel or iron-based roofing, but Interlock's 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy forms a transparent oxide layer that self-heals when scratched. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating is applied to both sides of every panel, providing an extra corrosion barrier in wet environments. This dual-layer approach is why Interlock installations range from coastal salt-air homes to the Antarctic—environments far harsher than Vermont. Your Guardian warranty covers rusting for life.

Will metal roofing stay secure in Burke's winter wind gusts?

Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Burke's typical wind gusts reach about 117 km/h, well within the panel's safety envelope, and the interlocking design distributes wind load across the entire roof system rather than relying on fasteners alone. Independent testing ensures each profile—Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Tile, and Standing Seam—meets the same wind standard. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 confirms installation compliance with current building codes. This structural redundancy is why metal roofing performs reliably in alpine and coastal storm zones.

Does metal roofing resist hail, and can it lower my insurance costs?

Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty explicitly covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many Vermont insurers recognize this non-combustible, impact-resistant material and offer premium reductions; contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 rating and ESR-1790 code listing to request a quote adjustment. Unlike asphalt shingles, which dent, crack, or lose granules in hail, aluminum's hardness and flexibility absorb impact without permanent deformation. Over a 30+ year roof life, hail durability translates to zero replacement cost and possible insurance savings—a financial benefit unique to metal in a state where severe weather is unpredictable.

Do I need to reinforce my home's structure for a metal roof?

Almost never. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile—which replicates the weight and appearance of clay or concrete tile—installs at only 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it approximately 96% lighter than the real material it resembles. This extraordinary lightness means you can install Interlock over your existing asphalt roof in most cases without structural upgrades, saving thousands in labor and engineering. Even the heavier Shake profile at 0.58 lb/sq ft is negligible compared to the dead load asphalt already carries. The Slate profile at 0.41 lb/sq ft adds almost no weight. A structural engineer can confirm your specific home, but Interlock's weight advantage typically eliminates this barrier entirely.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really need?

Virtually none after installation. Unlike asphalt roofs requiring periodic re-sealing, wood shake roofs needing treatment for rot and insects, or tile roofs needing mortar repair, Interlock aluminum has no moving parts, no sealants to reapply, and no granules to lose. The two-sided Alunar 70% PVDF coating resists chalking and fading for 30 years by ASTM D4214 and D2244 standards; your warranty guarantees this performance. Debris occasionally settles in valleys or gutters, but standard gutter cleaning suffices. CALGreen verification confirms Interlock's reduced-maintenance profile. Over Burke's 2,816 annual sunshine hours and frequent moisture, the absence of maintenance cost compounds your lifetime savings compared to traditional materials.

Can a metal roof actually reduce my energy bills?

Burke receives roughly 2,816 hours of annual sunshine, and reflective metal roofing captures that opportunity to lower cooling costs year-round. energy-efficient Interlock colors achieve thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 (measured on Aged Copper Penny), reflecting heat that dark asphalt absorbs and radiates into your attic. Cool Roof Rating Council testing confirms this performance. In summer, reduced heat gain lowers air-conditioning load; in winter, the reflectance doesn't penalize you because heating loss through the roof is controlled by insulation, not surface color. This solar efficiency persists for 30 years without degradation, unlike asphalt's reflectance decline. The upfront cost difference is offset by energy savings and a single re-roofing avoided.

Is metal roofing really worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt?

Over a complete roof lifespan, metal is the lowest-cost option. Asphalt typically lasts 15–20 years in Vermont's 89 annual freeze-thaw cycles; you will replace it 1–2 times in your ownership. Interlock, with its lifetime limited warranty (non-prorated for the original owner), eliminates replacement and the contractor markup, labor, and disposal costs of tear-off. A single asphalt replacement often approaches or exceeds the installed cost of metal. Additionally, the one-time transferable Guardian warranty extends 50 years from completion to the next owner, protecting resale value. Current financing—no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation—removes the barrier. The math: one metal roof versus two asphalt roofs, plus energy savings and zero maintenance.
