  • Aluminum panels are coated with the Alunar® Coating System (no visible aluminum surface) for long-term finish integrity and corrosion resistance.
  • Precision weatherproof seams (profiles: slate, cedar, shake, tile) and mechanical fastening (profile: standing seam) deliver long-term leak protection during wind-driven rain events.
  • Interlocking panel geometry and high-tension fasteners tested to 120+ mph (193+ km/h) resist regional windstorms that affect Thurston County properties.
  • Advanced waterproof installation details reduce leak risk through Bordeaux’s prolonged wet seasons and heavy fall–winter precipitation.
  • Snow-shedding panel profiles minimize rooftop accumulation and lower ice-dam potential during inland freeze–thaw episodes.
  • Class A fire-rated available for homeowners seeking added ember- and flame-resistance during dry summer periods.
  • UL 2218 Class 4 impact resistance protects against falling branches and storm debris common in Bordeaux’s forested lots.
  • Energy-efficient cool-roof performance helps limit attic heat gain during occasional Pacific Northwest heat events and improves year-round comfort.
  • Solar-compatible surface engineered to accept modern bracket-mounted PV systems without compromising roof integrity.
  • Fully recyclable aluminum roofing supports sustainable choices for environmentally conscious Bordeaux homeowners.
  • Premium architectural profiles replicate slate, cedar shake, and tile while offering standing-seam options for a technical, low-profile aesthetic.
  • Low-maintenance finish reduces the need for frequent repairs compared with asphalt shingles in Thurston County’s damp environment.
  • Designed to shed intense rainfall from atmospheric-river events typical to Western Washington, reducing ponding and run-off stress on roof assemblies.
  • Coating and alloy selection help mitigate corrosion from occasional coastal salt air intrusion in low-lying Thurston County corridors near estuaries.
  • Panel geometry and Alunar® surface inhibit moss adhesion; routine low-pressure cleaning preserves drainage and prolongs service life in Bordeaux’s humid, moss-prone microclimates.

Dear Interlock Roofing, Thank you for coming by and installing a new roof on our house. After we first talked at the Tacoma Home Show in January, both Paul and Ross were fantastic in walking us through the process and explaining the roofing system when we met in February. They answered all our questions, and we were eager to get started. Patrick and Drew took the lead with the installation planning and paperwork, and once the materials were ready in May, Patrick dropped them off at our house. The three-man crew installed everything in three days and ensured any installation questions were answered and done properly. In the end, we love the look and expected longevity of our new roof.

Review: December 5, 2021 Completion: September 11, 2021

The sale experience was good, but the rest was far below expectations, especially for the price paid. We did not buy Interlock just for an attractive roof, we bought it because they are supposed to be experts, have a high level of customer services, and we thought would do things right without headaches. This is far from the case. Hire an company who's actual employees and managers will be on site, not Interlock. Turns out we were actually blindly hiring a crew, who sub-contracts for Interlock, and has a questionable level of experience. Interlock doesn't even show up at your job site at any time during the job, even if you have problems and repeatedly ask them to. Once they have your money at the end of the job, they don't care if you still have issues or even bother to respond to you when you have additional issue. They need an interlock staff member who is an installation expert to be on the job site ideally for the whole job, but at the least, at the start at the middle and at the end who can insure everything is done to high standards and that all of the customers issues are addressed promptly. Paying by the job is also super problematic, this only encourages the crews to work as fast as they possibly can, covering up or ignoring things that might take a bit longer. They have no incentive to fix or give the customer time to fix an issue. The one installation manager you have for a huge region is not even close to adequate, it's no surprise he could not give us an adequate level of communication or attention. Disappointing.

Review: May 24, 2021 Completion: April 21, 2021

They fell short with the roofing underlayment material. The type of boards they actually used. Maybe since they used one over another, they probably need to be more clear and advise the customer who chooses. It is something we noticed. Contact from the company for rescheduling could've been better. I understand delays are unforeseen, but keeping better communication with consumers so they aren't taking time off and then finding it wasn't necessary to do so due to a delay. They were quick to request a referral, which I gave them a good one online, but they were slow when it came time to take care of the damage done. They probably should've waited to ask for the referral until after they had repaired the damage. Now, we feel hurried for a great referral, but they are taking their time to come back for the damage. I look forward to recommending them. This project was referred to us by friends in the midwest. I hope the company follows through on the $500 referral.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Bordeaux

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Bordeaux, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Bordeaux.

How does a metal roof handle Bordeaux's snow and ice, and do I need snow guards?

Metal roofing sheds snow effectively due to its smooth, interlocked surface and low friction — a key advantage in Thurston County's ~40 cm annual snowfall and 34 freeze-thaw cycles per year. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels create a unified plane that prevents ice dams from forming where traditional roofs leak. Snow guards are optional and depend on roof pitch and proximity to below; our local installer, Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., assesses your home's layout during the site visit and recommends them only where needed for safety.

With 1370 mm of rain annually in Bordeaux, how do metal panels stay leak-proof?

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels overlap continuously, directing water downslope without pooling or seeping at panel edges — a proven design tested across coastal and alpine environments since 1998. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms compliance with IBC/IRC water-intrusion standards. Your region's ~1370 mm yearly rainfall and gusts to 99 km/h are precisely the conditions our panels are engineered for: the interlocks clamp tighter under wind pressure, and the slope naturally accelerates drainage. Proper installation over a solid deck with underlayment adds a secondary barrier.

Why won't Interlock's aluminum roof rust like a steel metal roof?

Aluminum contains no iron, so it cannot rust — it forms a transparent oxide layer that self-heals when scratched, naturally protecting the metal underneath. Interlock's roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) is paired with a Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish applied to both sides, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. In Bordeaux's wet climate with 40 cm annual snow and frequent thaw cycles, this dual-layer protection eliminates the rust vulnerability that plagues steel. The result: no oxidation staining, no structural degradation from corrosion.

Does a metal roof actually save on energy costs in a cloudy region like Bordeaux?

Interlock's energy-efficient colors reflect solar heat rather than absorb it — your cooling load drops measurably in summer and spring, especially on the ~2881 sunshine hours Bordeaux receives annually. The Aged Copper Penny profile achieves initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, meaning it bounces heat that asphalt roofing absorbs and re-radiates into your attic. The Cool Roof Rating Council verification confirms real energy savings. Over a 50-year roof life, this translates to hundreds of dollars in avoided air-conditioning costs, making Interlock a counter-intuitive choice even in cloudy Pacific Northwest climates.

Are metal roofs really safe in Bordeaux's wind gusts up to 99 km/h?

Yes — Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h), well above Bordeaux's typical gust maxima of 99 km/h. The interlocking design creates mechanical redundancy: each panel clasps its neighbors on all four sides, so a single gust cannot lift or separate individual shingles. UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating (the highest available) further confirms the panel's structural integrity. Our local installer verifies proper fastening per specification; when installed correctly, your roof will outperform asphalt in any storm your region generates.

Can my house handle the weight of a metal tile roof, or do I need structural work?

Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile installs at only ~0.59 lb/sq ft — approximately 96% lighter than genuine concrete or clay tile — so no structural reinforcement is needed. Existing roof framing designed for asphalt shingles easily carries aluminum. The Slate profile weighs just ~0.41 lb/sq ft and can install directly over most existing roofs, saving thousands on tear-off labor. This is a major advantage in retrofit jobs: you avoid construction delays, dust, and disposal costs. The light weight also means faster installation and lower strain on fascia, gutters, and flashing.

How long does an Interlock metal roof really last, and what's covered?

Interlock's Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance — no time-based degradation schedule. The warranty is one-time transferable, giving the next owner 50 years of coverage from completion, a major incentive at resale. Combined with aluminum's inherent corrosion immunity in Bordeaux's ~34 annual freeze-thaw cycles, you're looking at a roof that outlasts two or three asphalt replacements. This is the last roof you buy.

What metal roofing profiles does Interlock offer, and which looks best on my home?

Interlock manufactures five profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile — each engineered to replicate traditional materials in lightweight aluminum. The Slate suits modern farmhouse and colonial homes; Cedar Shingle and Shake complement craftsman and cottage aesthetics; Standing Seam works for contemporary and industrial designs; Tile suits Mediterranean, Spanish, and formal colonial. Your choice depends on your home's existing architecture and personal preference. Our local installer, Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., can show samples and discuss which profile aligns with your neighborhood and long-term vision.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood shakes?

Interlock requires minimal maintenance: rinse debris twice yearly and inspect fasteners annually — that's it. No moss treatment, no algae remover, no wood-preservative spraying like cedar or shake demand. No tar-patching or shingle replacement like asphalt. Aluminum's oxide layer self-heals minor scratches, so a hailstone impact that would split wood or crack asphalt leaves aluminum uncompromised. Bordeaux's 1370 mm annual rainfall naturally flushes dust and pollen. The Alunar coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, so color stays true. Over 50 years, you save thousands in maintenance labor and materials.

Is a metal roof actually better for the environment than asphalt?

Interlock aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, so your roof never becomes landfill — a sharp contrast to asphalt shingles, which typically end up in dumps. Manufacturing aluminum does consume energy, but recycling aluminum uses just 5% of that energy, creating a powerful incentive to recycle. Because Interlock's durability (50+ years) far exceeds asphalt's (15-20 years), you avoid the tear-off-to-landfill cycle altogether: fewer roofs replaced means fewer environmental impacts. In Bordeaux's climate, this longevity translates directly to sustainability, making metal roofing one of the most eco-conscious choices available.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Bordeaux’s climate?

Yes. Bordeaux averages about 40 cm of snow, 1370 mm of rain, roughly 34 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 99 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
