I have enjoyed the new roof you have installed for almost a year now, and I want to say I am so pleased with it. Best of all it was recognized in my taxes and that was especially nice. I have to admit, I have the best looking roof in my neighborhood and it is permanent.

Review: June 26, 2024 Completion: May 23, 2024

Dear Interlock Roofing, Thank you for coming by and installing a new roof on our house. After we first talked at the Tacoma Home Show in January, both Paul and Ross were fantastic in walking us through the process and explaining the roofing system when we met in February. They answered all our questions, and we were eager to get started. Patrick and Drew took the lead with the installation planning and paperwork, and once the materials were ready in May, Patrick dropped them off at our house. The three-man crew installed everything in three days and ensured any installation questions were answered and done properly. In the end, we love the look and expected longevity of our new roof.

The cost of the roofing was too high. It looks very nice and glad I had it installed. I have one leak, but I haven't called them about it yet.

Review: December 5, 2021 Completion: September 11, 2021

The sale experience was good, but the rest was far below expectations, especially for the price paid. We did not buy Interlock just for an attractive roof, we bought it because they are supposed to be experts, have a high level of customer services, and we thought would do things right without headaches. This is far from the case. Hire an company who's actual employees and managers will be on site, not Interlock. Turns out we were actually blindly hiring a crew, who sub-contracts for Interlock, and has a questionable level of experience. Interlock doesn't even show up at your job site at any time during the job, even if you have problems and repeatedly ask them to. Once they have your money at the end of the job, they don't care if you still have issues or even bother to respond to you when you have additional issue. They need an interlock staff member who is an installation expert to be on the job site ideally for the whole job, but at the least, at the start at the middle and at the end who can insure everything is done to high standards and that all of the customers issues are addressed promptly. Paying by the job is also super problematic, this only encourages the crews to work as fast as they possibly can, covering up or ignoring things that might take a bit longer. They have no incentive to fix or give the customer time to fix an issue. The one installation manager you have for a huge region is not even close to adequate, it's no surprise he could not give us an adequate level of communication or attention. Disappointing.

Their workers are very good and very capable. Fewer supply problems. Joe, the scheduler. He does an exceptional job keeping his customers happy and meeting schedules considering supply and covid issues. Always nice and courteous.

Review: May 24, 2021 Completion: April 21, 2021

They fell short with the roofing underlayment material. The type of boards they actually used. Maybe since they used one over another, they probably need to be more clear and advise the customer who chooses. It is something we noticed. Contact from the company for rescheduling could've been better. I understand delays are unforeseen, but keeping better communication with consumers so they aren't taking time off and then finding it wasn't necessary to do so due to a delay. They were quick to request a referral, which I gave them a good one online, but they were slow when it came time to take care of the damage done. They probably should've waited to ask for the referral until after they had repaired the damage. Now, we feel hurried for a great referral, but they are taking their time to come back for the damage. I look forward to recommending them. This project was referred to us by friends in the midwest. I hope the company follows through on the $500 referral.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Bush

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Bush, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Bush.

Does metal roofing handle heavy snow and ice in Bush, Washington?

Yes—metal roofing handles snow exceptionally well, especially in Thurston County where you average about 40 cm annually and experience roughly 34 freeze–thaw cycles per year. Aluminum's light weight (the Shake profile weighs only 0.58 lb/sq ft) means snow doesn't stress your structure the way heavy slate or concrete tile would. Four-way interlocking panels shed meltwater efficiently, and the smooth aluminum surface resists ice adhesion better than asphalt. Snow guards are available if you prefer to manage shedding from eaves. The 120 mph wind warranty also protects against the gusts—up to 99 km/h—that often accompany winter weather here.

Why won't my metal roof rust in the Pacific Northwest?

Interlock's roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum contains no iron, so it cannot rust chemically—that's impossible. Instead, aluminum develops an invisible self-healing oxide layer that protects the metal underneath. Even if the coating scratches, the oxide regenerates. This matters in Thurston County's wet climate (about 1370 mm rain yearly) because water alone cannot corrode aluminum the way it corrodes steel. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, adds a second shield on both panel sides—extra insurance against salt-air exposure if you're near coastal regions. That dual-layer defense is why panels installed since 1998 from salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station still perform.

What does Interlock's warranty actually cover on a metal roof?

The Guardian is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—meaning there's no gradual reduction in coverage, and it covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's also transferable once; the next owner receives 50 years of coverage from completion. This matters because it reflects confidence in durability. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is separately warranted for 30 years against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214/D2244), and hail coverage extends to perforation from 1.5-inch stones (UL 2218 Class 4). In Thurston County, where rain averages 1370 mm yearly and freeze–thaw cycles occur ~34 times annually, that non-prorated lifetime term shields you from surprise costs competitors might saddle you with.

Is a metal roof fire-resistant?

Yes. Interlock aluminum is non-combustible and qualifies for Class A fire classification, the highest available rating. This is especially relevant in areas prone to wildfire exposure or near vegetation. The roofing-grade aluminum itself cannot ignite or spread flame—it's inherently fire-safe. That non-combustible rating can also lower homeowners insurance premiums in some cases and satisfies strict building codes in fire-prone zones. While Thurston County's wet climate (about 1370 mm rain annually and ~2881 sunshine hours) doesn't present the same wildfire risk as drier regions, Class A rating is a permanent advantage you get simply by choosing aluminum over asphalt, wood shake, or composite materials. It's one of those features that costs nothing extra but adds genuine protection and code compliance.

Can my existing roof structure support a metal roof, or do I need reinforcement?

In most cases, no reinforcement is needed. The Mediterranean Tile profile weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so it installs over most existing roofs without structural modification. Even the heavier profiles (Slate at similar weight) place far less load on your framing than traditional tile or slate. This matters in wet climates like Thurston County because older homes often have roof structures designed before modern metal was available. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 documents that Interlock panels meet current building codes (IBC/IRC, reissued 2025) without reinforcement. The light weight also means faster installation, lower labor costs, and the ability to re-roof without evacuation of the home. Your installer can confirm your specific structure, but most properties in the region can convert to metal without costly frame upgrades.

How does a metal roof handle the heavy rainfall in Washington?

Four-way interlocking panels shed water by design; each section overlaps its neighbors on all four edges, so rainwater is forced downward and outward. Thurston County's average of about 1370 mm yearly rainfall means your roof must handle sustained wet weather, and aluminum's smooth, non-porous surface doesn't absorb water the way asphalt eventually does after decades of UV exposure and weathering. The interlocking system, combined with proper installation to ICC-ES ESR-1790 specifications and solid deck with underlayment, creates a redundant seal. Water simply cannot migrate horizontally across overlapped seams. After 26+ years of installations from coastal salt-spray zones to high-rainfall regions, the leak record is exceptional—no systemic water intrusion issues. The tight mechanical fit also means wind-driven rain, which occurs during Thurston County's 99 km/h gusts, is kept out reliably.

Will a metal roof help cool my home and reduce energy bills?

energy-efficient colors reflect solar heat rather than absorbing it like dark asphalt does. Interlock's reflective coatings deliver thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (on Aged Copper Penny and other cool-rated colors), rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council. In Thurston County, where you average about 2881 sunshine hours yearly, that reflectance reduces peak roof temperature and lowers cooling-season energy use—especially during the warmer months. While the region's mild 10.8°C average temperature doesn't demand aggressive cooling, the difference compounds over decades. Paired with the 40 cm of annual snow (which insulates in winter), a reflective metal roof works year-round to moderate energy demand. The energy efficiency also qualifies your roof for CALGreen verification and may attract incentives from local utility programs.

How much maintenance does a metal roof require compared to asphalt or wood?

Metal roofing requires virtually no maintenance—no annual inspections for missing granules, splits, curling, or decay as asphalt and wood demand. Thurston County's 1370 mm annual rainfall and 34 freeze–thaw cycles create harsh conditions for asphalt (which degrades visibly in 10–15 years) and wood shake (which rots, splits, and needs frequent treatment). Aluminum doesn't rot, split, or curl. Gutters may need seasonal debris clearing, but the roof itself is inert. CALGreen-verified, it qualifies for reduced-maintenance building standards. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating (30-year warranty) is engineered to resist chalking and fading even in wet, variable climates, so you won't see the color loss asphalt exhibits. Over a 40-year span, the labor and material savings from skipping inspections, repairs, and replacements dwarf any upfront cost difference.

Who installs Interlock metal roofs in Bush and the surrounding area?

Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served Thurston County and the broader Pacific Northwest region since 1997—the same year Interlock began manufacturing panels in Delta, BC. Local presence means faster response, familiarity with regional weather patterns (the 40 cm annual snow, 99 km/h winter gusts, 34 freeze–thaw days), and knowledge of building code enforcement in your jurisdiction. The installer can assess your specific roof structure, recommend the right profile (Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Tile, or Standing Seam), and ensure ICC-ES ESR-1790 compliance during installation. Current financing options—no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation—are available now. Contact the local team to schedule a site evaluation and discuss how Interlock's lifetime warranty and proven durability suit your home.

Can a metal roof withstand Washington's winter windstorms?

Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Thurston County experiences typical daily-max winds around 16 km/h, but winter gusts regularly reach 99 km/h—well within the rated envelope. The four-way mechanical interlock (each panel overlaps all neighbors) transfers wind loads across the entire roof system rather than concentrating stress on fasteners. This engineering is verified by UL 2218 Class 4 impact testing, the highest hail rating available, which also validates structural integrity under extreme wind. After 26+ years of installations in coastal and inland Pacific Northwest locations prone to severe weather, the wind-related failure rate is negligible. Your installer will confirm proper fastening per ESR-1790 to ensure the warranty applies, but the design itself is proven in regions with far more aggressive wind events than Bush typically experiences.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Bush’s climate?

Yes. Bush averages about 40 cm of snow, 1370 mm of rain, roughly 34 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 99 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
