Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Burnett, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Never. Interlock Roofing could improve their customer experience by showing up when they say they are going to show up and by scheduling the delivery of the materials and workers at the same time. Not allowing the installer to show up whenever they feel like and work when they want. We were told the job would take two days, but the job took two and a half weeks.
Install crew showed up and materials didn’t match the order
My roof looks wavy and it’s not flat. I felt like they should have fixed that.
I think it is a great product.
I want to thank you for a job well done on my new roof. The work was done on schedule in spite of winter weather, and Brian, your roofer, was very polite and responsive. Several neighbors have called to comment on how nice it looks.
I cannot think of anything as everything from presentation to completion of the roofing project went smoothly! I do get compliments on my new roof from Interlock- the red color and the slate look get rave reviews! I do recommend Interlock to anyone I meet that gives a compliment or says they are considering a new roof.
In 2004 my wife and I decided to purchase the lifetime Interlock Roof. I was fifty at the time and had been called over to my Father In Laws house several times to clean out his gutters and clean off his roof with a pressure washer. I told my wife I did not want our kids to have to do that for us in our later years. The situation with my in-laws provided the motivation to start the search for a permanent roof. We landed on the Interlock Roof at the Western Washington Fair in 2004. The roof was installed and have not had any problems afterwards. There are some idiosyncrasies with this type of roof: The roof is not made to be walked on When it snows the snow builds up for a 1 to 3-inch amount and then slides off the roof and onto the ground below The roof keeps its original look, never needs to be pressure washed off or any other maintenance. We are very satisfied with the roof and very glad we will never have to purchase another roof again.
When we are ready to do our roof we will be calling. We needed a quote

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Burnett
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Burnett, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Burnett.
Will a metal roof handle Burnett's snow and ice buildup?
Yes. Burnett receives about 57 cm of snow annually across roughly 42 freeze-thaw days, and metal roofs shed snow and ice more reliably than asphalt. The four-way interlocking panels lock together so tightly that water cannot pool between them, and the smooth metal surface prevents ice dams from forming along eaves. Snow guards are available if you want to control shedding for walkways or gutters. Unlike asphalt, which can crack and curl through repeated freeze-thaw cycles, aluminum's oxide layer remains intact, so each winter doesn't degrade the material.
Does metal roofing leak in heavy rain? Burnett gets over 1300 mm annually.
Metal roofs don't leak from rainfall—the interlocking four-way system and solid deck underneath shed water faster than it can accumulate. Burnett's 1315 mm average annual rainfall is handled by the same pitch-based design that works on asphalt, but without the risk of shingle deterioration. Water follows gravity and gravity works perfectly on metal. The real difference: asphalt eventually absorbs moisture and fails; aluminum panels simply direct it away. Proper installation—which Interlock's local team has done since 1997—ensures gutters and flashing keep water moving off the roof and away from your home.
Can a metal roof handle Pierce County wind gusts?
Pierce County gusts reach about 103 km/h, well below the 193 km/h (120 mph) wind speed that Interlock's Guardian Warranty covers. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered so each one locks to its neighbors—wind cannot work panels loose or pry them apart. The lightweight design (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means there's less sail area for wind to grab compared to concrete tile. Even during severe storms, the mechanical lock between panels distributes wind load across the entire roof system rather than stressing individual fasteners.
Will hail damage my metal roof? Does it affect insurance?
Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This resilience sometimes qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts since metal roofs have lower replacement costs and longer lifespans than asphalt. Your insurer may recognize the reduced claim risk. Hail alone won't compromise the roof; the aluminum and Alunar coating work together to absorb impact. Check with your agent about potential premium reductions when you install an impact-rated metal roof.
Does aluminum roof siding rust like steel does?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—rust requires iron to form. Burnett's 1315 mm of annual rain and damp Pacific climate are where steel roofs fail, but aluminum thrives. The material naturally forms a microscopically thin oxide layer that self-heals when scratched, meaning your roof gets tougher with age, not weaker. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) and coats both sides with Alunar 70% PVDF, a 30-year warranted fluorocarbon finish. That dual-sided protection is especially important in damp regions—it guards against corrosion from inside and out.
How does aluminum hold up through Burnett's freeze-thaw cycles?
Burnett experiences about 42 freeze-thaw days per year, a cycle that splits asphalt and wood shingles but barely touches aluminum. The material expands and contracts minimally compared to organic materials, and its oxide layer doesn't crack or weaken from temperature swings. Asphalt curls and splits because water penetrates it and freezes; aluminum panels shed water instantly and have nowhere for ice to form inside them. The four-way interlocking system also allows tiny thermal movement without stressing fasteners, so repeated cold-to-warm cycles don't loosen the roof over decades.
Can my home's framing support a metal roof without reinforcement?
Almost certainly yes. The Mediterranean Tile profile weighs about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so no structural reinforcement is needed. Even homes built for standard asphalt shingles can accept Interlock's metal profiles without upgrades. An existing wood-shake or asphalt roof actually weighs more than the metal roof that replaces it, meaning your framing already carries the load. This lightweight advantage is why Interlock panels install directly over existing roofs in most cases, saving time and money by eliminating a tear-off and disposal.
Is metal roofing actually better for the environment than asphalt?
Metal roofing breaks the asphalt cycle: your old shingles go to the landfill, then your new shingles eventually follow. Interlock's aluminum is roughly 95% recyclable, so when your roof finally outlives you (or your great-grandchildren), the panels return to the recycling stream as raw material for new products. Burnett's 1315 mm of annual rainfall makes durability a sustainability issue too—a roof that lasts 50+ years creates far less waste than asphalt replacements every 15–20 years. The Guardian Warranty's one-time transfer to the next owner reinforces the long-cycle thinking: metal roofing is designed as a permanent investment, not a consumable.
What's the warranty on a metal roof, and does it matter when I sell?
Interlock's Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—it covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. When you sell, the next owner gets 50 years of coverage from the installation date, a huge selling point in Burnett's competitive market. No asphalt or wood roof offers anything close to this. The transferability means your buyer inherits decades of protection, making your home more attractive and easier to finance. It's genuine peace of mind: you're not buying a roof that requires replacement in 15 years; you're buying your last roof.
How long does installation take, and do you have to tear off my old roof?
Installation typically takes 2–5 days depending on roof size and complexity. Most homes don't require tear-off; Interlock's lightweight panels install directly over existing asphalt or wood roofs, which saves weeks of labor and avoids landfill costs. The local installer, Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., has served the region since 1997 and understands Burnett's weather patterns and building codes. Proper flashing and underlayment ensure water sheds away through 1315 mm of annual rainfall. Currently, the region's promotion includes no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation, making this a good time to discuss timeline and financing with the team.
