I want to thank you for a job well done on my new roof. The work was done on schedule in spite of winter weather, and Brian, your roofer, was very polite and responsive. Several neighbors have called to comment on how nice it looks.

In 2004 my wife and I decided to purchase the lifetime Interlock Roof. I was fifty at the time and had been called over to my Father In Laws house several times to clean out his gutters and clean off his roof with a pressure washer. I told my wife I did not want our kids to have to do that for us in our later years. The situation with my in-laws provided the motivation to start the search for a permanent roof. We landed on the Interlock Roof at the Western Washington Fair in 2004. The roof was installed and have not had any problems afterwards. There are some idiosyncrasies with this type of roof: The roof is not made to be walked on When it snows the snow builds up for a 1 to 3-inch amount and then slides off the roof and onto the ground below The roof keeps its original look, never needs to be pressure washed off or any other maintenance. We are very satisfied with the roof and very glad we will never have to purchase another roof again.

We just wanted to let you know how thoroughly-pleased we are with our new Interlock Roof. It is absolutely beautiful and we have had a lot of people stopping as they walk or drive by to admire how nice it looks. Everything progressed on the job exactly as you had shared with us when we signed the contract. There were no surprises. From the beginning when we got the call to set up a start date, to the final clean up and retrieval of the waste bin everything was handled so professionally. Viktor and Alex were a dream to work with-so-pleasant and each day everything was left so tidy that it would have been hard for guests to tell that we were in the middle of a re-roofing job. We will highly recommend your product and doing business with such a professional and obviously well run company.

Review: July 23, 2015

Of the five name brand roofing contractors I screened for this project I chose Interlock and I am very pleased with the roof. Coordination and communication was critical especially since Interlock was to perform the installation immediately following another contractor performing a siding replacement. Communication with the interlock team was great and they remained flexible. Interlock was able to adjust their installation timeline as issues popped up with the siding project. Interlock promptly scheduled and dispatched materials and crew as soon as the siding contractor cleared out. I was a bit concerned about introducing a ">metal roof to the neighborhood, but could not be happier with the end result. In an effort to help tie everything together I had the siding contractor match the fascia wrap and gutters to the interlock ">roof black slate finish. The installation team was courteous, professional, and they notified me of any issues they ran across with the structure during the tear-off phase. Clean-up performed by the installation team was better than that performed by other contractors that had worked at the site. Great attention to detail and they took extra measures to protect sensitive areas around the house. I am currently working with their finance department as I Refinance the house and they are by far the friendliest finance team I have ever worked with. Great communication and customer care standards! The roof looks amazing and definitely grabs the attention of people driving by. The most amusing reaction so far was while I was watering the plants in the front yard a vehicle drove by, stopped abruptly, turned around, and pulled up into the driveway. A salesman in corporate attire for another roofing company stepped out of the vehicle and started asking questions about the roof. I was very familiar with the brand he represented because their product is rated among the best asphalt roofing products in the country. I thought that was quite amusing because here I am giving him contact information for a competitor . He was interested in something similar for his home so we talked for a bit about the Interlock Roof and he was very impressed. Reminded me of those old Coke versus Pepsi commercials.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Tehaleh

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Tehaleh, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Tehaleh.

How does a metal roof handle heavy snow and ice in Pierce County winters?

Tehaleh averages about 57 cm of snow per year, and Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow and ice efficiently because the smooth surface prevents buildup that causes ice dams on asphalt. The panels are warranted to resist wind gusts up to 120 mph, so they stay securely fastened even when snow loading increases wind pressure. Optional snow guards can be installed if you want to control where snow slides off. The lightweight design—about 96% lighter than ceramic tile—means no structural reinforcement is needed, unlike heavy traditional roofing that can fail under Pierce County's freeze-thaw cycles, which occur roughly 42 days per year here.

Will freeze-thaw cycling in Washington damage my metal roof over time?

No. Tehaleh experiences approximately 42 freeze-thaw days annually, and aluminum roofing thrives in this cycle because it expands and contracts without cracking, splitting, or curling like asphalt, wood, or concrete tile. Aluminum's oxide layer actually self-heals when scratched, so minor damage from thermal movement doesn't compromise the seal. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating—warranted 30 years against chalking and fading per ASTM standards—protects against the salt air that can accelerate corrosion in other metals. With roughly 1315 mm of annual rainfall and persistent moisture, asphalt and wood absorb water and fail; aluminum doesn't absorb water at all, so freeze-thaw cycles simply don't degrade the material.

Can an aluminum roof rust in a wet climate like Tehaleh's?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the chemical requirement for rust formation. Instead, aluminum naturally develops a thin oxide layer that actually protects the metal and self-heals when scratched. Because Interlock has applied the Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish to both sides of the panel, your roof has dual protection against Tehaleh's 1315 mm of annual rainfall and coastal air influences. This two-sided coating is especially valuable in salt-air regions and is the reason Interlock roofs have been installed successfully from coastal homes to an Antarctic research station. Even if you live near Puget Sound, the aluminum substrate will never oxidize into the rust that eventually compromises steel roofing or weakens galvanized fasteners.

Is a metal roof really worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Yes, because asphalt typically lasts 15–20 years and then goes to landfill, while Interlock's lifetime limited, non-prorated warranty for the original owner covers cracking, curling, rust, rot, and impact damage—you buy this roof once. A second homeowner gets 50 years of coverage, making resale attractive. Over 50 years, you avoid multiple tear-offs, disposal costs, and labor. Tehaleh's 42 annual freeze-thaw cycles and 1315 mm of rain accelerate asphalt failure; aluminum thrives in these conditions. Current financing is available with no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation, which closes much of the upfront gap immediately. The coating is warranted 30 years against fading, so you won't repaint.

What's the hail rating on a metal roof, and can it affect my homeowner's insurance?

Interlock is rated UL 2218 Class 4—the highest impact classification available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This is rare in roofing and demonstrates real durability, not marketing. Many insurers offer discounts for Class 4 roofs because they minimize claims; you should contact your agent with the UL rating to explore savings. Tehaleh's typical wind gusts reach 103 km/h, and the interlocking panels are warranted to 120 mph winds, so the same structural integrity that handles impact also resists wind-driven hail. If you live in an area with a history of hail events, the combination of Class 4 impact resistance and 120 mph wind warranty may significantly reduce your annual premium—worth a conversation with your insurer before you decide.

How secure is metal roofing in high winds and Pacific Northwest storms?

Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist sustained winds up to 120 mph when installed to specification. Tehaleh's typical wind gusts reach about 103 km/h (64 mph), so you have a 56 mph safety margin—well above worst-case conditions in Pierce County. The interlocking design means each panel locks to its neighbors on all sides, preventing uplift and sideways movement; a single fastener holds one corner while the interlock system handles lateral and upward pressure. Installation by a certified local installer (Interlock Metal Roofing PNW Inc., serving the region since 1997) ensures spec compliance. Because the panels are extraordinarily light—about 0.41 lb/sq ft for the Shingle profile—they don't create the sail effect that makes heavier roofs fail in wind. Your existing roof structure can handle this load without reinforcement.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really need in Tehaleh?

Minimal. Asphalt requires inspection every 2–3 years, replacement of missing granules, algae treatment, and tear-off every 15–20 years; wood requires regular cleaning, sealing, and replacement of split or curled shakes. Interlock aluminum simply sheds debris and doesn't absorb the 1315 mm of annual Tehaleh rainfall, so moss and algae growth is unlikely. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is warranted 30 years against fading and chalking, meaning you won't repaint. CALGreen verification confirms the system's reduced-maintenance profile. Seasonal inspection of gutters and fasteners (any roofing requires this) and occasional debris removal are sufficient. Because aluminum doesn't rot, split, curl, or degrade from freeze-thaw cycling, you avoid the costly repairs that drain asphalt and wood roof budgets.

Can metal roofing look like slate, shakes, or tile on a modern home in Tehaleh?

Yes. Interlock offers five profiles—Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Mediterranean Tile, and Standing Seam—each replicating traditional materials while delivering aluminum's durability. The Tile profile, for example, looks like high-end ceramic but weighs about 96% less, so it installs over your existing roof without structural reinforcement (essential in Tehaleh's 42 annual freeze-thaw cycles, which can stress heavy roofs). The Cedar Shingle and Shake profiles add architectural detail and warmth to craftsman and cottage-style homes. All profiles are backed by the same ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation and Guardian Warranty. Your color choice also affects performance: energy-efficient colors with 0.84 emissivity help reflect the heat that asphalt absorbs, lowering summer cooling costs. Installation over existing roof means no disruption—the new profile simply transforms your home's appearance in one project.

Is metal roofing really more environmentally responsible than asphalt?

Yes. Aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable, so when your roof eventually reaches end-of-life (likely in your great-grandchild's era, given the lifetime warranty), the material enters a recycling loop instead of a landfill. Asphalt shingles—accumulating roughly 11 million tons in US landfills annually—are not easily recycled and contribute to waste. Interlock's manufacturing since 1998 in Delta, BC has avoided millions of tear-offs and landfill deposits across North America. By choosing metal, you also eliminate the asphalt re-roofing cycle: asphalt fails every 15–20 years in Tehaleh's freeze-thaw and wet climate, requiring repeated tear-off labor and disposal. One aluminum roof lasts a lifetime, dramatically reducing your home's carbon footprint and environmental impact over 50–70 years. The lightweight panels install over existing roof decking, reducing demolition waste and labor.

Who installs Interlock roofing in Tehaleh, and how long does installation take?

Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. serves Tehaleh and Pierce County, having operated in the region since 1997. They are certified to install to ICC-ES ESR-1790 specification, ensuring your roof meets all code and warranty requirements. Installation timeline depends on roof size and whether you're installing over existing shingles (no tear-off) or bare decking. Most residential roofs are completed in 1–3 days; because the panels are extraordinarily lightweight—roughly 0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft depending on profile—crews move efficiently without structural strain. Starting over existing roof means zero debris removal and faster project completion, critical in Tehaleh's rainy climate (1315 mm annually). Current financing offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation. Contact the local team for a free inspection and timeline specific to your home.
