Review: October 14, 2025Completion: August 31, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.

Review: October 9, 2025Completion: August 12, 2025

The installers were not Interlock employees. I assumed they would be and was surprised to learn that they were "piece mealed". They were independent roofing contractors who install many different roof materials and as a result, there were some mistakes made that needed to be corrected after I brought them to the Installer Manager's attention. They also did not speak English well or at all. At times, I was having conversations with the Supervisor through an iPhone translation app. The cost for the job was outrageous in my opinion but then I did sign the contract agreeing to this as I knew much of the cost was to support the warranty and future trips to the house for repairs if needed. In other words, I was paying for a warranty not the cost and reasonable markup for the job. Having paid that, my expectations were high yet I had to get pro actively involved to make sure the job turned out as expected. So in a nutshell, I would be somewhat hesitant recommending Interlock Roofing because of the price and non-English speaking installers. Get your own English speaking roofing employees. Had no idea at the time we signed the contract that you were merely a materials supplier. Attention to details. Got to demand it to get the job done right.

Never have them do business with them. Not honest, transparent. They then tried to take legal action against me. Transparency and being honest. They used subcontractors. They should not be rude and disrespectful to their customers. Patrick should be fired.

Review: August 23, 2025Completion: July 31, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Cathlamet

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Cathlamet, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Cathlamet.

Will a metal roof rust in Cathlamet's wet climate?

No. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209), which contains no iron and therefore cannot rust. Aluminum naturally forms a self-healing oxide layer that seals scratches automatically. With Cathlamet averaging 1805 mm of rain yearly and coastal moisture exposure, aluminum's immunity to corrosion means no degradation from water contact—unlike steel roofing, which requires ongoing coating maintenance. The 30-year Alunar PVDF coating adds secondary protection against salt air and wet cycles.

How does a metal roof handle heavy snow and ice in Cathlamet winters?

Aluminum's light weight—the Shake profile installs at 0.58 lb/sq ft—means no structural overload from Cathlamet's typical 55 cm annual snowfall. The four-way interlocking panel design locks together to prevent wind-driven snow infiltration during the region's 97 km/h gusts. Smooth metal surfaces shed snow and ice naturally, reducing ice dam formation common in freeze-thaw cycles (about 22 per year in Cathlamet). Snow guards are optional if you want to control slide-off timing on steep pitches.

Can a metal roof withstand Cathlamet's wind and coastal gusts?

Yes. Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The four-way interlocking system locks each panel on all sides, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than relying on fasteners alone. Cathlamet's typical gusts reach 97 km/h with mean winds around 15 km/h—well within the roof's rated capacity. This makes the system reliable during the region's autumn and winter storm seasons.

Do I need to reinforce my home's structure for a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is needed. The Mediterranean Tile profile weighs approximately 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—and installs over most existing roofs without engineering upgrades. This light weight also makes installation faster and safer. Cathlamet homes with older framing, which typically cannot support traditional tile, can now achieve that aesthetic without costly structural work. Interlock's ICC-ES evaluation (ESR-1790) confirms code compliance for residential installations.

With 1800+ mm of rain per year, how does a metal roof stay dry?

The four-way interlocking panel design creates overlapping seams that shed water continuously downward—water cannot pool or back up. Each panel locks to its neighbors on all sides, and the overlap angle directs moisture away from interior panels. A solid deck and underlayment beneath the panels (installed to spec) provide a secondary moisture barrier, mirroring the protection of asphalt shingles. Cathlamet's 1805 mm annual rainfall and frequent coastal moisture are handled by the same proven system used from residential homes to Antarctica research stations.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?

Aluminum requires virtually no maintenance. Unlike asphalt shingles, which degrade from UV and weather, or wood shakes, which split and rot, aluminum cannot rust, rot, or split. The 30-year Alunar PVDF finish (warranted against chalking and fading to ASTM D4214/D2244 standards) resists Cathlamet's 2738 sunshine hours annually. Occasional gutter cleaning is normal for any roof in a rainy region. The Guardian Warranty covers cracking, curling, and impact loss—you are not paying for preventive treatments year after year.

Is a metal roof a better investment than asphalt over time?

Yes, over the roof's lifetime. Asphalt typically lasts 15–20 years and requires replacement, sending old shingles to landfill. Interlock's lifetime limited warranty on material—non-prorated for the original owner and transferable to the next owner for 50 years from completion—eliminates the tear-off-and-replace cycle. A single metal roof outlasts two or three asphalt roofs. Factor in zero maintenance, no hail damage vulnerability (UL 2218 Class 4 rated, covering 1.5-inch hailstones), and a current regional promotion offering no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation, and the long-term cost per year drops significantly below asphalt.

What exactly does Interlock's lifetime warranty cover?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original homeowner. It covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—the main failure modes of traditional roofing. The warranty is also one-time transferable: if you sell your home, the next owner receives 50 years of coverage from the completion date. This dual protection reflects the product's durability record since 1998 and makes the roof a genuine long-term asset rather than a short-lived commodity.

Can I get a metal roof that looks like slate, shake, or tile?

Yes. Interlock offers five profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile. Each replicates the appearance of its traditional material while delivering aluminum's durability. Cathlamet's coastal climate favors the Cedar Shingle or Slate look for contemporary homes and the Mediterranean Tile for traditional architecture. All profiles use the same four-way interlocking aluminum panels and are available in multiple colors. You choose the aesthetic that matches your home's style without compromising performance in the region's 1805 mm annual rainfall and freeze-thaw cycles.

Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Cathlamet?

Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. serves Cathlamet and the surrounding region. The company has been operating since 1997 and is familiar with Wahkiakum County's coastal moisture, seasonal storms, and structural conditions. They handle the complete installation process, including removal of existing roofing if needed, solid deck preparation, underlayment, and four-way panel installation to spec. Currently, they offer no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off metal roof installation. Contact them directly for a site assessment and timeline for your home.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Cathlamet’s climate?

Yes. Cathlamet averages about 55 cm of snow, 1805 mm of rain, roughly 22 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 97 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
