Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Duvall, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |

What our customers are saying:
We will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the attorney general. We have told Ross Peterson‘s boss Mike this and he said go ahead I don’t care do what you have to do.
We are very happy!
They are too expensive.
Should have specified that chimney flashing had to be replaced, as was my understanding. Leaving flashing in place - Interlock assumed lifetime warranty for someone else's work. I am extremely happy with the roof look, finish and the design. Installation went well even though we are still working through some leak issues.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
I believe that Interlock Roofing should spend more time understanding and pay attention to details. The roof is fine but there are some small issues.
- Better communicate when the scheduled installation date is going to happen. Interlock needs to be more upfront and honest about how the roof is sensitive to foot traffic. When people walk on the shingles they risk causing the shingles to bend permanently. This is a disadvantage that interlock should openly explain to prospective customers.
Hire a project manager to work with your customers I am very happy with the end result, but the lack of communication is a seriously concerning for a customer. With a purchase this big I would expect to be kept in the loop for critical details regarding project dates. You need to hire a project manager or a general contractor that would be able to be the point of contact for a specific customer.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Duvall
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Duvall, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Duvall.
How does a metal roof handle Duvall's heavy snow and ice buildup?
Aluminum's smooth, hard surface sheds snow and ice far better than asphalt shingles, reducing ice dam risk during Duvall's roughly 194 cm of annual snow. The four-way interlocking panels bond so tightly that water cannot penetrate, even under sustained snow load. Metal expands and contracts minimally compared to asphalt, so freeze-thaw cycling—which occurs about 58 days per year here—doesn't degrade the material. Optional snow guards can be installed if you prefer to retain snow for insulation or aesthetics.
Does aluminum roofing crack or split in Duvall's freeze-thaw winters?
No. Pure aluminum does not absorb water, so it cannot crack, split, or rot when exposed to freeze-thaw cycling—the 58 freeze-thaw days Duvall experiences annually pose no threat. The material's oxide layer self-heals when scratched, eliminating the entry points where water would otherwise cause damage. Asphalt and wood shingles absorb moisture and fracture under repeated freezing; aluminum simply cycles through temperature changes without material breakdown. The Guardian Warranty explicitly covers cracking and splitting for the life of your roof.
With Duvall's 1761 mm of annual rainfall, will a metal roof leak?
Duvall receives about 1761 mm of rain annually—well above the US average—and the Interlock system is engineered to handle it. Four-way interlocking panels overlap so precisely that water flows down and out, never into the seams. When installed over solid decking with recommended underlayment, the system performs as a complete water-shedding unit. The Guardian Warranty protects against leaks for your lifetime. Thousands of coastal installations from British Columbia to Antarctic research stations confirm the design in even heavier precipitation.
Is a metal roof strong enough for Duvall's wind gusts?
Duvall's typical gusts reach 128 km/h, and Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The panel geometry locks mechanically—no fastener can pull through the metal itself. The system has performed in hurricanes and mountain passes where wind far exceeds local normals. Class 4 impact rating (UL 2218) also ensures high resistance to wind-driven debris impact.
Can a metal roof reduce hail damage claims or insurance premiums?
Yes. Interlock achieves the highest hail rating available—UL 2218 Class 4—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize non-combustible metal roofs and Class 4 impact ratings as lower-risk profiles and offer premium reductions or discounts. Contact your agent with the ESR-1790 evaluation report and UL listing; the documentation often qualifies you for savings. In King County, hail events are less frequent than in plains states, but the armor-grade protection is valuable regardless.
Why is aluminum better than steel roofing in a rainy climate?
Steel rusts when exposed to moisture; aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. When scratched, aluminum's oxide layer self-heals, sealing the wound. Duvall's 1761 mm of annual rain and salt air from Puget Sound proximity make corrosion a real risk for steel and traditional metals. The roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) used in Interlock panels is rated for coastal environments and manufactured since 1998. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating—applied to both sides—adds a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading, doubling the protection layer.
How much lighter is a metal roof than slate or tile, and does it need reinforcement?
Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile installs at about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. The Slate profile weighs even less. This means no structural reinforcement of rafters or beams is needed, and the roof often installs directly over your existing asphalt shingles, eliminating removal cost and landfill waste. Duvall homes built for slate or tile roofs can switch to metal without engineering upgrades. The lighter load also reduces strain on framing and foundation, extending the life of the supporting structure.
How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?
Metal requires virtually no maintenance. Unlike asphalt shingles, which shed granules and crack in Duvall's 58 annual freeze-thaw cycles, or wood shakes, which split and rot from moisture, aluminum does not degrade from rain (1761 mm/year) or temperature swings. No bleach-washing, no sealant reapplication, no moss treatment. The 30-year Alunar coating warranty and lifetime material warranty (Guardian) mean you're covered for the roof's life. Asphalt typically needs replacement every 15-25 years; one Interlock roof is often your last.
What's covered by the Interlock warranty, and does it transfer to the next owner?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited material warranty for the original owner—non-prorated and transferable once to the next owner for a full 50 years from completion. It covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. No other roofing system offers a comparable promise: asphalt warranties last 20-25 years and are heavily prorated; wood and tile warranties are shorter and non-transferable. This transferability significantly enhances your home's resale appeal and the buyer's confidence, effectively making it the last roof your home will ever need.
Is a metal roof more expensive than asphalt, and does it save money over time?
Initial cost is higher than asphalt, but the long-term value is dramatic. A typical asphalt roof lasts 15-25 years and costs $8,000-15,000 to replace; you'll buy 2-3 of them in a lifetime. One Interlock roof, installed once, covers your ownership and transfers to the next owner with 50 years remaining warranty. Add zero maintenance costs, no emergency repairs from freeze-thaw damage, and potential insurance savings from Class 4 hail rating—and metal wins decisively. Current promotion: no payments or interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation.
