Deciding to switch to an aluminum roof was a significant decision for us, and honestly, the selection process was a bit overwhelming. There are so many styles and finishes available, and it took us quite a while to finally make our choice. If you're considering aluminum, be prepared to invest time in understanding your options. The installation process itself also took longer than we initially anticipated, especially compared to the asphalt shingle replacements we've had done in the past. This is something to factor into your timeline if you're working with specific deadlines. However, despite the longer decision and installation periods, we are extremely pleased with the final result. The aluminum roof looks fantastic and has significantly improved the curb appeal of our home. It truly turned out nice. We were also impressed with the attention to detail shown by Interlock Metal Roofing. They used what appeared to be the correct mounting hardware, ensuring a secure and professional installation. Additionally, they didn't hesitate to replace any damaged or weakened boards as needed, which gave us peace of mind regarding the roof's long-term integrity. Overall, while the decision-making and installation processes were more involved than expected, the quality of the finished product and the professionalism of Interlock Metal Roofing made it a worthwhile investment. We would recommend them to others considering an aluminum roof, with the caveat that they should be prepared for a longer timeline.

To a person everybody in sales (Ross specifically) at Interlock Roofing was knowledgeable and professional. When we were evaluating our roofing alternatives, they took the time and energy to answer our many questions. Obviously, there are less expensive alternatives, and they did a good job explaining the differences between the various roofing and metal roofing options. Patrick and May were great at setting our expectations prior to installation. On the installation side I had a list of items for review prior to work being done. Tony the manager and Poval (sp) his crew lead made sure each of those items were addressed to our satisfaction. We have had the new roof for only 6 days and the roof looks amazing and our house looks much better. [modula id="139676"]

I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.

Review: May 10, 2025

It’s such a relief to have a beautiful, reliable roof over our house now. Patrick, Tony, and the installation crew had their work cut out for them with our 1911 Craftsman’s steep roofs, several bump-outs, and other added details. We’re also nestled pretty tightly in between three other houses, so access points were somewhat limited. But they rose to the challenge admirably. Tearing off the old composite shingle took the better part of one day, but they managed to get new underlayment installed everywhere by the end of it. Unsurprisingly, they found some water damage along the way as well, so they had to replace a few boards, which set them back a little. But all in all, they finished within the week and we’re so pleased with the result. It rained hard the day after and all the old leaks we had stayed nice and dry. Our neighbors complimented us on the new roof as well.

Review: March 23, 2017

Mr. Ross and Interlock Industries, Kathy and I are very pleased with our new roof. During installation, your crew was able to adapt the project around our 100-year-old chimneys and finally completely seal us against leaks. The first summer of the new roof was worth the project’s price and exceeded our expectations for performance. We did not have the old problems of the attic area overheating. The attic fan barely comes on unless it is a very " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot day. But we are no longer feeling the heat on the third floor, where all the bedrooms are. Less heat means more comfortable nights and sleep. If anyone would like to see how the roof looks or performs, we would be happy to show the roof to people interested in the Interlock Industries product. Even the exterior of the house looks better, but surprisingly the roof does not look like it was covered with a metal material. The selected pattern both fits the look of the house and looks compatible with our neighborhood houses. We care very pleased with the roof and the guarantee that accompanies the roof.

Review: October 29, 2007

Dear Interlock Roofing: Thank you for your time and kindness in working with us. The time it took to put on the roof was efficient and quickly done. Your workers were fast and on the job. They took a couple days to do both the roof of our house and the roof of our second garage. This Interlock Metal Roofing was a great investment on our house. We get plenty of compliments from our neighbors telling us how nice our roof looks. The quality of the roof is also great. It looks very durable and reliable when it comes to heavy rains and winds. We also like the style of the roof and how it goes nicely with our house and surroundings. It was nice working with your company and we hope the best for Interlock Roofing in the future.

I want to express my appreciation for your company's excellent response to our recent need for replacement of deteriorating closure material on our metal roof installed about four years ago. It is a pleasure to deal with people whose first priority is customer satisfaction. I'd like to particularly thank Steven Jasper, the installer responsible for the work. He was competent, efficient and thorough. It was a large job and particularly difficult because of its height off the ground as well as the " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot weather. I also want to thank Wendy Willans of your customer service department who arranged for the work effectively and promptly. I will not hesitate to recommend your company to anyone interested in a high quality metal roofing installation by people eager to stand behind their products and workmanship.

Review: July 5, 2000

When my husband Richard said he wanted to put a metal roof on this 1929 English Tudor house, I thought he had gone around the bend, maybe several bends. After seeing the pictures and hearing about the features, I started to become a convert. Now that the job is down, I know that we made the right decision for several reasons. First, the black Interlock shingles look so appropriate on this house. In certain lights it even appears to look like " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">slate. Many neighbors and friends have commented on how very attractive it looks, Secondly, the workmen did such a professional job. They were meticulous at each step of the process and, we are confident, that their craftsmanship was excellent. Each day that they were here they worked diligently and conscientiously making sure that every step of their work was done to the highest expectations. In addition, they were quiet and tried not to interrupt our daily routine. Third, we are most pleased about all the high quality features of the product: the durability, the appearance, and the fact that it is maintenance free. Thank you for making the excellent product.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Yarrow Point

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Yarrow Point, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Yarrow Point.

How does a metal roof handle Yarrow Point's heavy snow and ice buildup?

Metal panels shed snow and ice faster than asphalt because the smooth, slick surface doesn't grip accumulation the way granules do. With about 120 cm of snow typical most years and roughly 58 freeze-thaw cycles annually, ice dams form when melting snow refreezes at roof edges. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to 120 mph wind, which includes the lateral forces that occur when snow shifts or slides. A solid deck beneath the panels, combined with proper underlayment, prevents leaks during heavy thaw periods. Snow guards are available if you prefer to retain snow for insulation value.

Will freeze-thaw cycles damage aluminum metal roofing in a climate like ours?

Freeze-thaw damage happens when water enters material, freezes, expands, and cracks it from inside—but aluminum doesn't absorb water, so it has no water to freeze. The 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy used in Interlock panels contains no iron, which means it cannot rust even when exposed to moisture and repeated freezing (Yarrow Point averages 58 freeze-thaw days yearly). The Alunar PVDF coating protects both sides of each panel and is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, shielding the oxide layer that naturally heals when scratched. Wood shakes and clay tiles, by contrast, absorb water and degrade rapidly under these conditions.

Why is aluminum better than steel roofing for a wet, coastal climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and creates rust. Steel roofing requires constant coating maintenance to prevent rust; even tiny scratches expose bare steel, which corrodes in Yarrow Point's moist 1761 mm annual rainfall and salt-air environment. Interlock's aluminum panels develop a transparent oxide layer when exposed to air, and this layer self-heals when scratched, providing continuous protection without paint touchups. The Alunar fluorocarbon finish, applied to both sides of the panel, adds a 30-year warranty against fading and chalking. This dual-layer approach means your roof resists corrosion the same way whether it's three miles from the Sound or thirty.

Does a metal roof hold up in hailstorms, and will insurance companies care?

Interlock's aluminum panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty specifically covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 means the panels survive repeated impacts that would crack asphalt or break clay tiles. Some insurance carriers offer discounts for Class 4-rated roofs because they file fewer claims; contact your agent with the UL 2218 rating to ask. While Yarrow Point's hail risk is modest compared to the Great Plains, the durability you gain transfers to your home's resale value and your own peace of mind during severe weather.

Will a metal roof leak in heavy Pacific Northwest rain?

Heavy rain protection comes from the four-way interlocking design and a solid deck with underlayment beneath the panels. Yarrow Point receives about 1761 mm of rain annually, concentrated in fall and winter, so overlapping interlocks and proper fastening matter far more than material choice. Interlock panels fasten to a solid substrate—typically plywood or your existing roof deck—and water cannot run backward through the seams. The panels themselves are aluminum, which never absorbs moisture. Installed to ESR-1790 specification (IBC/IRC, reissued 2025), your roof will shed heavy downpours the same way it sheds the 2743 sunshine hours that break up the rainy season. The key is installation by a crew that understands local building code and overlapping panel geometry.

Is it true metal roofing doesn't need structural reinforcement like tile does?

Yes. Interlock's aluminum panels are extraordinarily light—the Mediterranean Tile profile installs at roughly 0.59 lb/sq ft, about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This means you can install Interlock over most existing roofs without adding beams or reinforcing joists. Your home's framing handles the weight with no upgrades. Concrete tile weighs 15–20 pounds per square foot; Interlock weighs less than one. That weight difference becomes especially valuable in older Yarrow Point homes with standard 2x6 or 2x8 rafters. You replace a failing asphalt roof or add a standing-seam layer directly onto your existing deck, saving thousands in structural work. The Guardian Warranty covers the original owner for life, non-prorated, so you're protected from the moment installation finishes.

How does a metal roof perform in Yarrow Point's winter wind gusts?

Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification. Yarrow Point's typical winter gusts reach 128 km/h (about 80 mph) with the most severe gusts near 128 km/h, well within the warranty limit. The interlocking design—where each panel locks to its neighbors on all four sides—distributes wind load across the entire roof system rather than relying on fasteners alone. This geometry is why ESR-1790 lists Interlock under IBC/IRC codes nationwide. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, depend on adhesive and nails; wind can peel them up from the edge if gusts exceed their rating. Aluminum's rigid profile resists the flutter and flap that shortens asphalt life during Pacific Northwest storms.

How much upkeep does a metal roof actually need compared to asphalt or wood?

Interlock requires clearing debris from gutters and valleys—the same as any roof—but that's it. Asphalt shingles need periodic inspection for granule loss, algae treatment, and fastener replacement every 15–20 years; wood shake roofs need annual fungicide application in wet climates (Yarrow Point gets 1761 mm rain yearly) and split-shake replacement within 20 years. Concrete tile needs moss removal and repointing of mortar joints. Aluminum doesn't rot, split, curl, or lose protective properties to moss because the Alunar coating and non-porous substrate eliminate the conditions that invite growth. The Guardian Warranty covers splitting, cracking, and curling (which don't occur with aluminum anyway), offering peace of mind that maintenance won't become a surprise expense. CALGreen verification confirms lower maintenance burden for this product class.

Is metal roofing really more environmentally responsible than asphalt shingles?

Yes. Interlock aluminum panels are approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, and aluminum recycles indefinitely without quality loss. When you replace an asphalt roof, the old shingles typically go to a landfill; Yarrow Point's waste streams aren't infinite. Aluminum, by contrast, has scrap value and enters the recycling loop. The panels are manufactured in Delta, BC, using established supply chains, and they've been in service since 1998—meaning most installations last far longer than one asphalt replacement cycle. You buy once and end the tear-off-to-landfill pattern. The material itself is non-combustible (Class A fire rating available) and contains no asbestos, bitumen, or petroleum products. Over a 50-year lifespan, the environmental math is straightforward: one roof, no landfill contribution, and a transferable warranty that keeps panels in use across two ownership terms.

Who installs Interlock Metal Roofing in Yarrow Point, and do they know this region?

Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. serves this area and has since 1997—25 years of experience with Pacific Northwest weather, King County building code, and Yarrow Point's specific climate. The parent company, Interlock, has manufactured roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum in Delta, BC, since 1998 and has installed panels from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station, giving the team expertise in freeze-thaw cycles, heavy moisture, and wind load. Local installers understand the transition from wet winters (averaging 1761 mm rain and roughly 120 cm snow) to 2743 sunshine hours yearly, and they know how to position gutters and underlayment for Yarrow Point's specific run-off patterns. The current promotion offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation, making this the right time to discuss your roof with a crew that won't need a learning curve on local conditions.
