Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Harris, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Harris
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Harris, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Harris.
How does a metal roof handle Harris's snow and ice buildup?
Aluminum panels shed snow and ice more readily than asphalt because of their smooth, interlocking surface and thermal properties. Harris receives about 398 cm of snow annually with roughly 96 freeze-thaw cycles per year, creating conditions where ice dams are common on traditional roofs. Interlock's four-way interlocking design and lightweight construction (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft) mean no structural reinforcement is needed, and the reflective coating with emissivity of 0.84 helps moderate surface temperature swings. Snow guards are available if you want extra control over where melting snow releases.
Will aluminum roofing crack or fail in Harris's freeze-thaw climate?
No. Aluminum cannot rust or rot, and it expands and contracts predictably without degradation across freeze-thaw cycles. With 96 freeze-thaw days per year in Harris and average annual rainfall of 535 mm, materials that absorb moisture—like wood, asphalt, and concrete tile—develop internal stress that leads to splitting and cracking over time. Interlock's 3105-H24 aluminum alloy with its self-healing oxide layer remains stable through these temperature swings. The Guardian lifetime warranty covers cracking and curling, guaranteeing the panel integrity regardless of season.
Can metal roofing handle Harris wind gusts without blowing off?
Yes. Interlock panels resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification, and Harris's typical gusts reach about 102 km/h (63 mph). The four-way interlocking design locks each panel to its neighbors, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than relying on fasteners alone. This engineering is verified under ICC-ES ESR-1790 for residential and commercial applications. Over a 50-year lifespan, that translates to a roof that stays put through the seasonal windstorms the Puget Sound region regularly sends inland.
Does metal roofing hold up in hail, and can it lower my insurance?
Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4—the highest impact rating available—and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. That durability often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts because claims are far less likely than with asphalt or wood shingles. Harris averages about 3,289 sunshine hours per year, so hail events are infrequent, but when they do occur, your roof walks away unscathed. Contact your insurer directly about rate reduction; many offer 10-25% discounts for impact-rated metal roofing.
Why does aluminum roofing not rust like steel?
Aluminum contains no iron, and iron is what rusts. Instead, aluminum develops a thin oxide layer that actually protects the metal underneath and repairs itself when scratched or dinged. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) plus a 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating applied to both sides, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. In Harris, where you get 535 mm of rain and freeze-thaw stress annually, this self-healing protection is far superior to steel, which requires constant vigilance against rust bloom and perforation.
How long does metal roofing last, and what's actually covered?
Your roof lasts a lifetime—and so does coverage. The Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rust, rot, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. Transfer it once to the next owner, who receives 50 years of coverage from installation date. No asphalt roof offers that; most require full replacement every 20-25 years in Harris's 535 mm-rainfall, 96 freeze-thaw-day climate. When you install Interlock, you're buying your last roof.
Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost in Harris?
Over 50 years, aluminum costs less than three asphalt replacements. Asphalt typically fails in 15-25 years in climates like Harris (535 mm rain, 96 freeze-thaw days annually), forcing tear-off, disposal, and reinstallation costs. Interlock is installed now; no tear-off cycle means no landfill fees, no labor for removal, no disruption to your home repeatedly. Current financing—no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation—removes the affordability barrier. Over the life of your ownership, the total cost of ownership is dramatically lower.
Can metal roofing look like slate, shake, tile, or cedar without looking like metal?
Yes. Interlock offers five profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Mediterranean Tile, and Standing Seam. Each replicates the shadow lines, texture, and dimension of the traditional material it mimics using profiled aluminum panels with 70% PVDF color finishes available in dozens of hues. From the street, a Slate or Cedar Shingle profile reads as the real thing. The advantage: you get the aesthetic you want without the weight (Tile is about 96% lighter than concrete tile), fragility, ongoing maintenance, or the 20-25-year lifespan of actual slate, clay, or cedar. Pick the look that matches your home's character.
Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for metal roofing?
No. Interlock's aluminum panels weigh as little as 0.41 lb/sq ft (Slate) to 0.59 lb/sq ft (Tile), making them about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Most homes can support asphalt shingles, and aluminum is lighter still, so no structural reinforcement is required. This also means Interlock installs directly over your existing roof in most cases, eliminating tear-off labor, cost, and waste. Harris's annual rainfall of 535 mm and snow load are easily managed by the lightweight design, which also reduces stress on framing during the 96 annual freeze-thaw cycles.
Who installs and services metal roofing in Harris?
Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served the region since 1997 and is your local installer for Harris and the surrounding area. They handle all five profiles—Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Mediterranean Tile, and Standing Seam—and are trained in Interlock's four-way interlocking installation method and the Guardian warranty requirements. A 25+ year track record in the Pacific Northwest means they understand Mason County's 398 cm annual snowfall, 102 km/h wind gusts, and freeze-thaw stress. Call them for a site evaluation; they'll assess your existing roof and walk you through the installation timeline.
