Review: October 14, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.

Review: August 23, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Partridge

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Partridge, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Partridge.

Does metal roofing handle Partridge's heavy snow loads and ice dams?

Yes—Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow and ice efficiently because the smooth, hard surface prevents adhesion that causes ice dams on asphalt. With about 398 cm of snow annually and 96 freeze-thaw days per year in your area, this matters: freeze-thaw cycling cracks and curls asphalt shingles, but aluminum's stable oxide layer simply cycles without degradation. Snow guard options are available if you want to manage runoff. The panels' extraordinary lightness (~0.41 lb/sq ft for Shingle profile) means no structural strain even under peak snow weight.

Will a metal roof survive Partridge's freeze-thaw cycles?

Absolutely. Partridge experiences approximately 96 freeze-thaw days annually, a severe condition that splits wood, cracks asphalt, and corrodes steel. Interlock's 3105-H24 aluminum alloy contains no iron, so it cannot rust; its self-healing oxide layer protects it through every cycle without brittleness or degradation. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating (warranted 30 years against chalking and fading per ASTM standards) adds a second barrier. This combination is why Interlock panels have been installed from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations since 1998—extreme cycling environments are exactly where aluminum thrives.

Can metal roofing withstand Partridge's wind gusts?

Yes. Partridge's typical gusts reach about 102 km/h, and Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist sustained winds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to spec. The interlocking design distributes wind load across the entire panel network rather than relying on fastener shear alone, which is why the system achieves this high rating. The ICC-ES evaluation report (ESR-1790, reissued 2025) confirms compliance with IBC/IRC wind requirements. In your region's climate, this warranty protection means your roof won't lift, separate, or leak during storms that damage conventional asphalt.

Does metal roofing get hail damage? Will my insurance cover it?

Interlock aluminum achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 rating often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts because metal roofs demonstrate superior impact resistance compared to asphalt shingles, which dent and fracture at lower impact energy. Many insurers recognize this durability advantage. Even in areas without frequent severe hail, the Class 4 rating provides confidence; combined with a 30-year coating warranty and lifetime limited material coverage, you're protected against both impact and weathering damage.

Is metal roofing worth the cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Metal roofing costs more upfront than asphalt, but over a roof's full lifespan, Interlock becomes the last roof you buy. Asphalt typically needs replacement every 15–20 years; you'll tear off, haul to landfill, and reinstall two or three times before Interlock ever fails. The Guardian Warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, and curling—then transfers to the next owner for 50 years, eliminating reinvestment risk. With Partridge's 535 mm annual rainfall and 96 freeze-thaw days, asphalt degrades faster here. Current regional promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation, making the entry cost manageable.

How much maintenance does a metal roof actually need?

Interlock metal roofing requires dramatically less maintenance than asphalt, wood, or tile. You won't seal cracks, replace curled shingles, clear moss-clogged valleys, or power-wash algae stains—all common tasks in Partridge's wet climate (535 mm rain yearly). Asphalt requires ventilation adjustments to manage moisture; wood requires annual inspection and treatment. Aluminum simply self-cleans. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating (both sides) resists fading and chalking per CALGreen verification, meaning no paint or refinish needed. Gutters need clearing as with any roof, but the roof itself is maintenance-free. The Guardian Warranty covers this durability, reducing your time and expense over decades.

Can a metal roof reduce my heating or cooling costs?

energy-efficient colors reflect heat that asphalt absorbs, lowering cooling load in warm months. Interlock's Aged Copper Penny finish achieves initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84 (Cool Roof Rating Council rated). While Partridge averages about 3289 sunshine hours annually, the benefit extends beyond summer: in your region's cool climate (mean 8.5°C), reflective properties reduce thermal cycling stress on the roof material itself, extending coating life. The energy savings are modest compared to southern climates, but the thermal stability gained during your 96 annual freeze-thaw days helps preserve the Alunar coating warranty over 30 years—so reflectivity supports both comfort and longevity here.

Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for metal roofing?

No reinforcement required. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—and the Slate and Shingle profiles are even lighter at 0.41–0.52 lb/sq ft. Most existing roofs support this weight without any structural upgrade. This lightweight advantage means Interlock often installs directly over existing asphalt shingles, eliminating expensive tear-off labor and landfill fees. The ICC-ES evaluation report (ESR-1790) confirms installation protocols for most substrate types. In Partridge's 398 cm annual snow load, this light weight is an asset: less dead load means more capacity for snow accumulation before approaching structural limits, improving safety margins during heavy winters.

Why doesn't aluminum rust like steel roofing?

Aluminum contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and causes rust. Instead, aluminum forms a thin, self-healing oxide layer (Al₂O₃) that protects the underlying metal. When the oxide layer is scratched, it instantly reforms when exposed to air, maintaining protection. This is why Interlock uses 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209 specification) and applies Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating to both sides. In Partridge's wet environment (535 mm annual rainfall, 96 freeze-thaw cycles), this chemistry prevents the rust staining, panel failure, and water intrusion that plague steel roofs. Steel requires constant paint maintenance; aluminum simply gets better with age, making it ideal for your region's corrosive climate conditions.
