Review: October 14, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.

Review: August 23, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Lake Lawrence

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Lake Lawrence, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Lake Lawrence.

Will a metal roof handle freeze-thaw cycles in Lake Lawrence winters?

Yes — aluminum's non-porous oxide layer expands and contracts without cracking or retaining water that causes damage. With about 46 freeze-thaw days per year and roughly 30 cm of snow, your roof faces real seasonal stress, but the 3105-H24 aluminum alloy won't split or curl the way asphalt shingles do. The four-way interlocking panels shed water instantly, so no ice dams form in the panel seams. That combination is exactly why Interlock panels have survived 27 years of BC coastal winters since 1998.

How does a metal roof handle heavy rain and gutters in Thurston County?

The four-way interlocking male-female joint design sheds the 1,195 mm of rain Lake Lawrence averages annually without pooling or trapped water. Each panel overlaps its neighbors, directing water downward and outward rather than collecting it. Pair that with a solid deck and underlayment — installed the same way as asphalt roofing — and your leak risk drops below what you'd accept from any traditional material. Wind-driven rain at gusts near 98 km/h won't find gaps because the interlocking geometry tightens under pressure, not weakens.

Can an interlocking metal roof survive the wind gusts we get here?

Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist 120 mph (193 km/h) wind, well above the typical gusts around 98 km/h that Lake Lawrence sees. The system doesn't rely on nails or glue alone — each panel locks to its neighbors on all four sides, distributing uplift across the whole roof. That's why UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated roofs like Interlock's have the same structural redundancy you'd engineer for coastal climates. Your roof won't leave your neighborhood when the wind picks up.

Why should I choose aluminum instead of steel roofing in a rainy climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron — the element that oxidizes and fails. Steel roofing requires constant coating maintenance because iron beneath the paint will corrode if scratched. Aluminum grows a self-healing oxide layer that seals itself when damaged, and Interlock adds a 30-year Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating on both panel sides for extra salt-air protection. With 1,195 mm of annual rain and 46 freeze-thaw days exposing coating edges, that two-layer defense keeps your roof sound when steel would show rust stains by year three.

Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for a metal tile roof?

Interlock's Slate installs at 0.41 lb per square foot — so light you can typically install it over your existing asphalt roof without structural reinforcement. A concrete or clay tile roof of the same shape would weigh about 96% more, requiring expensive beam work. Lake Lawrence homes built for standard asphalt shingle loads can jump straight to the appearance and durability of tile without calling a structural engineer. That means no weeks of interior mess, no jacked-up insurance costs, and installation can often happen in days rather than months.

What's the real cost difference between a metal roof and replacing asphalt every 15–20 years?

Asphalt shingles cost less upfront but you'll replace them 2–3 times in 50 years; metal roofing is your last roof purchase. Interlock's Guardian Warranty covers the original owner for life and transfers 50 years to the next owner — no prorated deductibles, no surprises. Add the current regional promotion (no payments, no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation) and you're looking at a single, amortized expense versus the recurring tear-off, landfill, and labor costs of asphalt cycling. The math favors metal by year 25.

What profile options does Interlock offer, and which works best for Lake Lawrence homes?

Five profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile. Slate and Cedar Shingle suit traditional homes and blend with regional architecture. Shake adds rustic depth. Standing Seam is contemporary and sheds snow faster on steep pitches (good for your 30 cm annual snowfall). Mediterranean Tile works if you want visual warmth without the weight penalty of actual tile. All five offer the same aluminum durability, 120 mph wind warranty, and UL 2218 Class 4 hail rating — pick the profile that matches your home's character.

How much upkeep does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood shakes?

Interlock aluminum requires no coating reapplication, no algae treatment, no moss removal, and no structural repairs like cracked or curled shingles. Asphalt needs inspection every 5 years and often repairs by year 10. Wood shakes split and rot, especially in climates with 46 freeze-thaw cycles yearly. Metal roofing is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance — your job is to keep gutters clear of the 1,195 mm of annual rainfall and snow debris. That's it. No climbing on a ladder with a brush; no expensive interventions to extend the roof's life.

Is Interlock Metal Roofing a sustainable choice compared to asphalt shingles?

Aluminum is about 95% recyclable at end of life, and Interlock panels break the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle. Most asphalt shingles end up in landfills because they're difficult and expensive to recycle. Metal roofs stay on your home for decades, then become new roofs or products rather than waste. Over a 50-year ownership window, you'll avoid multiple tear-offs and the carbon footprint of transporting tons of worn shingles to disposal sites. That's the environmental case: one roof that doesn't become garbage.

Who installs Interlock roofing in Lake Lawrence, and how long have they been in business?

Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. serves the Thurston County region and has been installing these panels since 1997 — longer than Interlock itself has been manufacturing the product. Local installers know how to handle the 2,943 annual sunshine hours (which means fast ice melt in spring and less ice-dam risk if installed right) and they're familiar with the regional wind patterns and snow loads. You're not experimenting with a national franchise; you're working with crews who have installed hundreds of roofs in your exact climate and understand Lake Lawrence building codes and site conditions.
