Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Willard, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Willard
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Willard, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Willard.
Does a metal roof handle heavy snow better than asphalt shingles in Willard?
Yes — aluminum's smooth, hard surface sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt's textured granules, which trap moisture and freeze. Willard receives about 154 cm of snow annually plus roughly 46 freeze-thaw cycles per year, creating the exact conditions where metal roofs prevent ice dam buildup and reduce the weight load on your structure. The four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind gusts up to 120 mph, so even when snow slides free, your roof stays locked down.
Will freeze-thaw cycles crack or degrade an aluminum metal roof?
No. Aluminum expands and contracts minimally compared to asphalt or wood, and the Alunar PVDF coating doesn't become brittle in cold. Willard's 46 annual freeze-thaw days and 937 mm of rain test roofing materials hard, but 3105-H24 aluminum alloy has been manufactured since 1998 in Delta, BC — a climate equally harsh — and remains unaffected by the cycling your area experiences. The oxide layer on bare aluminum self-heals when scratched, so minor damage never initiates corrosion or failure.
Why can't an aluminum metal roof rust like steel roofs can?
Aluminum contains no iron — the element that creates rust — so corrosion as steel experiences it is physically impossible. Instead, aluminum forms a transparent, self-healing oxide layer that protects it from salt air and wet climates. Interlock's 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209 spec) has survived installations from coastal salt-spray homes to Antarctica. Add the two-sided Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (warranted 30 years against chalking), and you have the material best suited to Willard's 937 mm annual rainfall.
How does a metal roof stay watertight with all the rain Willard gets?
The four-way interlocking aluminum panels create mechanical overlap — water cannot flow uphill into the seams. Willard averages 937 mm of rain yearly, so leak resistance matters; that's where the interlocking design excels. When installed to spec over solid decking and underlayment (standard practice), the system is as watertight as any roof. The rigidity of aluminum — unlike asphalt, which sags and pools water — keeps gutters and drainage pathways open, so water moves off fast rather than sitting where it might find a seam.
Can my Willard home's framing support a metal roof, or do I need reinforcement?
Almost always no reinforcement needed. The Slate profile installs at just 0.41 lb per square foot, the Shake at 0.58 — so light that Interlock installs over most existing roofs. The Mediterranean Tile profile, at 0.59 lb/sq ft, weighs roughly 96% less than concrete or clay tile, yet delivers identical visual appeal. Your home's structure already bears the weight of asphalt or wood; aluminum weighs less, so you redirect resources to longevity and performance rather than engineering costs. ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790 confirms suitability over standard residential framing.
Will a metal roof blow off in Willard's wind and storms?
No. The four-way interlocking panels lock together mechanically — each edge overlaps its neighbors — and the system is warranted to resist sustained winds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to spec. Willard's typical daily-max winds of 13 km/h and occasional gusts to 108 km/h fall well within that envelope. The interlocking design transfers wind load across the entire roof plane rather than depending on fastener shear alone, which is why metal roofing outperforms shingles in gust events — the panels simply cannot separate.
Is a metal roof damaged by hail, and will my insurance recognize it?
Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating — the highest available — and the Guardian Warranty actually covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. That combination often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts, though you'll want to confirm with your carrier. Hail isn't common in Willard, but when severe weather does occur, aluminum's hardness and the four-way interlock design distribute impact forces across the roof system rather than concentrating them at a single point like asphalt does.
How long does an Interlock metal roof last, and what does the warranty actually cover?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for you (the original owner) covering rust, rot, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance — period. That's because aluminum cannot rust and Alunar PVDF is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. If you sell, the next owner receives 50 years of coverage from completion, making it genuinely transferable. No other residential roof combines that longevity with a warranty that transfers; you're buying your last roof, not betting on 15–20 years.
Is a metal roof worth the higher upfront cost?
Metal roofing typically costs more upfront but is genuinely the last roof you'll install. Asphalt shingles fail in 15–25 years in climates like Willard's (937 mm rain, 46 freeze-thaw cycles annually) and require costly tear-off and landfill disposal each cycle. Interlock's lifetime limited warranty plus a 30-year coating guarantee, combined with zero maintenance, means you avoid decades of repairs, algae treatment, and eventual replacement. The Guardian Warranty is non-prorated and transferable, protecting your resale value. Over 40–50 years, metal roofing math favors aluminum decisively — one installation, one warranty, one invoice.
Do I have to maintain an aluminum metal roof the way I would asphalt or wood shakes?
No — that's a major financial advantage. Asphalt requires periodic algae treatment, granule monitoring, and gutter clearing; wood shakes need sealing, moss removal, and ongoing inspection for splitting and rot. Aluminum doesn't absorb moisture, won't split, never rots, and is self-healing at the oxide level. Willard's rainfall (937 mm yearly) naturally cleans the surface, and CALGreen standards verify Interlock's reduced-maintenance profile. You'll inspect gutters and trim like any home, but the roof itself is maintenance-free — no treatments, no renewal coatings, just decades of protection.
