Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Harambee, Wisconsin
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |

What our customers are saying:
It's too early to tell. The roof looks good and has held up against rain for one month. Scheduling the project was very challenging. It took lots of pushing and back and forth to establish a two week window, months out, for the installation. It took from October until August the next year from start to finish. This most likely wouldn't be an issue for most people, but my roof was already leaking and my work schedule is abnormal. The installation team was excellent. Nice people, clear interactions and expectations.
They can improve their communication after signing the contract with a salesperson. There were a few months where I didn't have a direct contact to check in for materials during the timeframe of the project because I had a couple of projects going on at the same time with the solar panels being installed. It all worked out, but I think that would be an area to improve in. It looks beautiful, and I love it!
Better communication around delays in start date. I would have been find with delays if they were transparent and kept to date as we passed what we were told multiple times.
They could improve on communication, getting back to me. I got mixed messages with them about installation dates. At one time they were supposed to show up on a Tuesday, then said Wednesday, then it was 3 weeks after that when they showed up. There is horrible communication between the installation people, that call to let you know, and the regional installation manager. He told me I lied, that they weren't supposed to be there that day, so I called corporate, and they said yes, they were. Then they said it would be the next day. I love my roof. Dealing with them was kinda hard.
That is only based on the fact that they misled me with the project date. They could have improved on their communication with the customer and given a realistic starting date. They used weather related issues for the reason for the delays and there were no weather issues in our area, that is for sure. One of the reasons why I agreed to the price was because of the timeframe that they told me that they could have the job finished in. If I knew that the job wasn't going to be done until February, I would have got other quotes from other companies. I agreed to the price because of the timeframe that they said that they could finish the project in.
Really nothing that I can think of. They did a great job installing my roof. So very happy with the roof and the way it looks. I get a lot of comments. All good. Thank You Steve Doine
If you could get the price lower then I would chose Interlock Roofing.
Our experience with having our Interlock roof installed was exceptional. It was installed during the hottest days of the year, and none of our neighbors could believe the installers were working so hard during the hot, muggy weather. They finished several days ahead of schedule and left the yard clean and neat, even after a complete tear-off of three layers of roofing. One day during the installation, we had a rain storm, and the installers all took shelter in their vehicles. I noticed that we had a leak in a spot that had clearly had leaks before we bought the house. When I pointed it out to the installers, they went up the ladder in the pouring rain, found the cause of the problem (which, again, was a pre-existing problem, not one due to the Interlock installation) and fixed it on the spot. The service was exceptional.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Harambee
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Harambee, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Harambee.
How does a metal roof handle Wisconsin's snow and ice buildup?
Interlock's smooth aluminum surface sheds snow and ice more effectively than asphalt, reducing ice dam formation—critical in Harambee's 88 cm annual snowfall and 79 freeze-thaw days per year. The four-way interlocking panels are warranted for wind gusts up to 120 mph, so snow-load pressure won't compromise the seal. Unlike wood shakes that absorb moisture and rot during freeze-thaw cycles, aluminum's oxide layer self-heals when stressed, maintaining its integrity through repeated seasonal expansion and contraction.
Why is freeze-thaw cycling a problem for roofs in Harambee, and what stops it from damaging metal?
Harambee experiences about 79 freeze-thaw days yearly—each cycle forces water into micro-cracks in asphalt and wood, gradually widening them until leaks develop. Aluminum 3105-H24 alloy contains no iron and cannot rust; its protective oxide layer repairs itself when scratched, so repeated freezing does not create pathways for corrosion. The non-porous surface resists water intrusion entirely, unlike slate or tile that trap moisture in grout lines and slowly degrade over 30-40 years.
Are metal roofs at risk in Harambee's wind events?
Harambee's typical gusts reach 96 km/h with mean winds around 22 km/h—conditions where loose shingles often lift and tear. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels lock each edge to its neighbors, distributing wind force across the entire roof rather than stressing individual fasteners. The warranty covers wind resistance up to 120 mph (193 km/h), far exceeding Wisconsin's recorded gusts. This engineered connection is why metal roofs outlast asphalt by decades in high-wind zones.
Does a metal roof help with hail insurance in Wisconsin?
Yes—Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4, the highest impact rating available, even warranting protection against hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers offer discounts for Class 4 roofs because claims are rare; aluminum's resilience absorbs impacts that would crack asphalt or slate. Harambee's position in Milwaukee County puts it in Wisconsin's hail corridor, making impact rating a genuine financial advantage when you renew your homeowner's policy.
Can a metal roof rust, and what's the difference between aluminum and steel roofing?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and flakes. Steel roofs, by contrast, must rely on paint or galvanizing to prevent rust, and that coating eventually fails in wet climates like Harambee's 822 mm annual rainfall. Interlock uses 3105-H24 roofing-grade aluminum with Alunar 70% PVDF coating on both sides, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. The aluminum's oxide layer self-heals when scratched, giving it durability that painted steel simply cannot match.
Will my roof frame need reinforcement to support a metal roof?
No—Interlock's lightweight aluminum is one of its structural advantages. The Mediterranean Tile profile installs at just 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile, so your existing framing handles it without modification. The Slate and Cedar Shingle profiles are even lighter. This matters in Harambee where 88 cm of snow per year adds temporary load; a lighter roof leaves more capacity to safely shed that snow, and you avoid the $5,000–$15,000 cost of structural reinforcement that heavy slate or tile often requires.
Is a metal roof worth the higher upfront cost?
The upfront cost of Interlock exceeds asphalt shingles by 40–60%, but the math favors aluminum over a roof's full life. Asphalt needs replacement every 15–20 years; Harambee's 79 freeze-thaw days accelerate that wear. Interlock's Guardian warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner, then transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from installation. That single roof often outlasts three asphalt cycles, saving $10,000–$20,000 in labor and materials over 60 years, plus you never pay for tear-off disposal or landfill fees.
What warranty comes with Interlock, and does it transfer if I sell?
The Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—it covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance with no dollar caps or percentage phase-outs. It transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion, making it a powerful selling point. In Harambee's harsh climate with 88 cm snow and 79 freeze-thaw cycles annually, that transferability signals to buyers that the roof will last their entire ownership, eliminating the roof-replacement anxiety that comes with asphalt.
How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?
Interlock requires no roof maintenance—no sealing, staining, or coating reapplication. Asphalt roofs need periodic caulking and spot repair; wood shakes must be stained every 3–5 years and replaced individually as they split and curl, especially in Harambee's 79 annual freeze-thaw cycles. The Alunar coating on both sides of each Interlock panel resists fading and chalking for 30 years (ASTM D4214/D2244 certified), so you truly install it once and forget it. Rain and snow naturally clean the aluminum—no pressure washing required.
Is metal roofing better for the environment than asphalt shingles?
Aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable at the end of its life—when Interlock's 50+ year lifespan finally ends, the entire roof returns to the recycling stream as a valuable material. Asphalt, by contrast, goes to the landfill; Harambee's average asphalt roof generates 3–4 tons of waste per home over 60 years, multiplied across thousands of homes. Interlock breaks that cycle, and its lightweight design means fewer fossil fuels burned during installation. CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance means no chemical runoff from sealers, preserving Milwaukee County's water quality.
