I love the roof! It looks great, and the squirrels that we’re crawling all over my old asphalt roof slide right off it. The snow slides off, too. I hope to get some $500 referrals. The crew was terrific, hardworking, courteous, polite, and clean.

25 years of saving money in a C.D. has well paid off for me. I endeavored to save money for a high-quality roof; not wanting to pay for a substandard roofing system. I no longer wanted to have asphalt shingles. Interlock Roofing is the Crème de La of all roofing. One day in June of 2014, I took one of my long walks. I came to a perfect standstill gazing up at the roof of a home I had often passed. It had a new hairdo. This elegant and beautiful roof (dark gray " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">slate) certainly wasn’t asphalt shingles. What could it be? I decided to find out and knocked on the side door. I said to the man who came to the door, “where did you ever get such beautiful roofing?” He then explained that he was thrilled with his recent purchase of Interlock Roofing that was installed in early spring. He immediately told me that it was a “lifetime” roof that was not only very energy efficient but was constructed as a high-impact roof which could better handle nasty storms. He explained to me that I could get rid of my roofing heat tapes because there would be no more ice damming that I would have to be concerned about. Then he added with a twinkle in his eye that I could watch my neighbors struggle with raking snow off their roofs and know that I would never have to stand out in the cold doing this task. With great pride, he told me that Interlock Roofing would look as great as it does today as it would many years down the road because the color never fades. I said, “Who do I contact to get this kind of roof?” He gave me “Greg Weber’s telephone number. He also told me of another home in the area that has had the roof on for 7 years that I could go look at. I got in my car the next day and went over to that home and spoke to the owner, and asked him if he was satisfied with the roof. He answered, “I’m 100% plus satisfied!” WOW! That’s as good as it gets. The rest is history because I made an appointment to see Greg Weber. This week of August 18-20 installers came and installed my new roof on both the house and the garage. These men were by far the best men you could get. Would you like to know why? It’s because of their work ethics. They were polite, accommodating, and extremely hard-working. It was evident that they certainly knew what they were doing every step of the way. When they were finished the end product of their job was both elegant and beautiful! I hope people will take time to consider getting Interlock Roofing, which in my opinion is the best choice they could make if they desire to have a quality roof. Also, I appreciate buying from a company that takes so much pride in what they are doing. Interlock Roofing Speaks for itself when you see it.

Drip, drip, drip. This is not a sound you want to hear at 3:30 am… in bed… coming from your attic… in the dead of winter. A quick peek in the attic confirmed my worst fears, the ice dam on the roof was allowing melted water to seep through the crappy asphalt shingles and into the house. We called a local contractor and had the ice dam removed, but this didn’t fix the underlying problem that our current roof was cheap and damaged. My wife and I moved into a beautiful three-story brick Tudor on Madison’s near west side in the fall of 06′. It was perfect in that it had been beautifully remodeled with gorgeous woodwork, marble, and stunning attention to detail, with the exception of the roof. We had decided that, barring any unforeseen circumstances, this was the house we were going to stay in until retirement, so why not invest in a metal roof. After a couple of weeks of research and interviewing, we settled on Interlock. Part of the choice was made on the quality of the product, and part was made on the salesmanship of the rep, Chuck. Work started and except for some problems with the weather, things progressed smoothly. We were especially impressed with the steps the crew took in regard to safety, and our stay-at-home neighbor told us about how exciting the crew was, “you’re definitely getting your money's worth,” was her exact quote. At the end of the job, the crew even emptied all the trash we had pulled out of the attic for us. Now that’s service! After everything is said and done, we’ve been able to cap off our gorgeous house with an equally gorgeous roof.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Nakoma League

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Nakoma League, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Nakoma League.

How does a metal roof handle Wisconsin's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Aluminum's smooth, hard surface sheds snow and ice more effectively than asphalt, and its non-porous construction won't absorb melt-water that refreezes. Nakoma League sees about 89 cm of snow annually and roughly 84 freeze-thaw days per year—conditions where asphalt degrades rapidly but aluminum's oxide layer stays intact. The four-way interlocking panels and optional snow guards prevent dangerous slides. Unlike wood shakes that split when ice expands in grain, aluminum has no internal structure to crack, and its lightweight design eliminates the structural stress of slate or tile accumulation.

Why won't my metal roof rust in Wisconsin winters?

Interlock roofing uses 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209), which contains zero iron—the element that causes rust. Instead, aluminum develops a protective oxide layer that self-heals when scratched, remaining stable even through 89 cm annual snowfall and salt-laden winter conditions. The Alunar® 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating applied to both panel sides adds a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading. Steel roofing, by contrast, requires constant maintenance to prevent rust. After 24 years serving the region, Interlock installations show no corrosion—a guarantee aluminum chemistry alone delivers.

Will freeze-thaw damage degrade my metal roof over time?

No. Freeze-thaw cycling damages roofing materials that absorb water or expand internally—asphalt cracks, wood warps and splits, concrete develops spalling. Nakoma League endures about 84 freeze-thaw days annually, yet aluminum's non-porous surface never absorbs moisture and its rigid crystal structure doesn't expand. The 3105-H24 alloy is engineered for exactly this stress; it flexes and resumes shape without fatigue. Combined with the Guardian's lifetime limited non-prorated warranty covering cracking and splitting, a properly installed aluminum roof becomes immune to what destroys other materials in Wisconsin's climate.

Can a metal roof withstand Wisconsin wind gusts?

Yes—Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist winds up to 120 mph, well beyond Nakoma League's typical gust speeds averaging around 104 km/h (65 mph). The interlocking design creates a unified system where each panel locks into its four neighbors, distributing wind load rather than allowing panels to peel. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms installation compliance with IBC/IRC wind load tables. Spring storms and winter fronts that rattle asphalt shingles loose leave interlocked aluminum unaffected—no nail fatigue, no uplift. After gusts reach 104 km/h, the difference becomes obvious: asphalt flutters; aluminum stays locked.

Does hail damage my metal roof, and can I get an insurance discount?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4—the highest impact rating available—and the Guardian warranty specifically covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Wisconsin's hail seasons hit homeowners with costly claims on asphalt; aluminum's hardness (3105-H24 alloy) resists denting and puncture far better. Many insurers recognize Class 4 metal roofing as a risk reducer and offer premium discounts—some as high as 20–30%. Over a 50-year roof life, those savings compound substantially. File the UL 2218 Class 4 rating with your agent when you install; it's the documentation that unlocks savings.

Can I install a metal roof over my existing asphalt without reinforcing the structure?

Yes. The Interlock Tile profile weighs roughly 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so it installs directly over existing shingles without structural work. The Slate and Cedar Shingle profiles are even lighter at 0.41 lb/sq ft. A typical 2,000 sq ft asphalt roof weighs 8,000–10,000 lbs; an equivalent metal roof weighs under 1,200 lbs. Nakoma League contractors have retrofitted hundreds of homes this way, avoiding the cost and mess of tear-off. Your home's frame already bears the asphalt; switching to aluminum is a downgrade in load, not an upgrade in risk.

Will a metal roof help lower cooling costs in summer?

energy-efficient Interlock colors achieve solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, meaning they bounce summer heat back to the sky rather than absorbing it like asphalt. Nakoma League receives about 3,089 sunshine hours annually, so a reflective roof reduces attic and cooling-system load throughout summer. Cool Roof Rating Council certification backs these measurements. Dark asphalt absorbs that solar energy, warming your roof to 160°F+ while metal stays 20–40°F cooler. The annual energy savings depend on your HVAC setup, but even in Wisconsin's moderate climate, the cooling benefit pays dividends when combined with a 50+ year lifespan.

What exactly does the lifetime warranty cover, and how long does it last?

The Guardian is a lifetime limited non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance from manufacturing defects. It's transferable once: the next owner receives a 50-year coverage term from project completion. This structure reflects aluminum's actual behavior: no rust, no wood-like rot, and impact resistance engineered into the 3105-H24 alloy itself. After 27 years serving Nakoma League, Interlock has never exhausted a Guardian claim for material failure. You're buying the last roof you'll install; the warranty simply documents what the material already does.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood shake?

Minimal. Interlock aluminum requires only gutter cleaning and occasional debris removal—no re-sealing, no algae treatment, no replaced shingles. Asphalt shingles need re-coating or replacement every 15–20 years in Wisconsin's freeze-thaw climate; wood shakes split and cup, requiring professional restoration. Nakoma League's 781 mm annual rainfall and freeze-thaw days accelerate asphalt and wood degradation, yet aluminum is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance. The Alunar® 70% PVDF coating handles salt air and pollutants without flaking. Over 50 years, you'll spend roughly 1/10th the maintenance dollars on aluminum compared to asphalt, and zero on wood-like repair.

Who installs Interlock roofing in Nakoma League, and what's their track record?

Interlock Metal Roofing has served the Dane County region since 2001—over two decades of installations from coastal salt-air homes to high-altitude sites. The company is the authorized local installer for all five Interlock profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile. Their familiarity with Wisconsin weather patterns (89 cm snow, 84 freeze-thaw days, 104 km/h gusts) and ICC-ES ESR-1790 compliance ensures every roof is installed to spec. From Delta, BC manufacturing through Nakoma League completion, you're backed by one installer who knows the product and the climate inside and out.
