I love the roof! It looks great, and the squirrels that we’re crawling all over my old asphalt roof slide right off it. The snow slides off, too. I hope to get some $500 referrals. The crew was terrific, hardworking, courteous, polite, and clean.

25 years of saving money in a C.D. has well paid off for me. I endeavored to save money for a high-quality roof; not wanting to pay for a substandard roofing system. I no longer wanted to have asphalt shingles. Interlock Roofing is the Crème de La of all roofing. One day in June of 2014, I took one of my long walks. I came to a perfect standstill gazing up at the roof of a home I had often passed. It had a new hairdo. This elegant and beautiful roof (dark gray " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">slate) certainly wasn’t asphalt shingles. What could it be? I decided to find out and knocked on the side door. I said to the man who came to the door, “where did you ever get such beautiful roofing?” He then explained that he was thrilled with his recent purchase of Interlock Roofing that was installed in early spring. He immediately told me that it was a “lifetime” roof that was not only very energy efficient but was constructed as a high-impact roof which could better handle nasty storms. He explained to me that I could get rid of my roofing heat tapes because there would be no more ice damming that I would have to be concerned about. Then he added with a twinkle in his eye that I could watch my neighbors struggle with raking snow off their roofs and know that I would never have to stand out in the cold doing this task. With great pride, he told me that Interlock Roofing would look as great as it does today as it would many years down the road because the color never fades. I said, “Who do I contact to get this kind of roof?” He gave me “Greg Weber’s telephone number. He also told me of another home in the area that has had the roof on for 7 years that I could go look at. I got in my car the next day and went over to that home and spoke to the owner, and asked him if he was satisfied with the roof. He answered, “I’m 100% plus satisfied!” WOW! That’s as good as it gets. The rest is history because I made an appointment to see Greg Weber. This week of August 18-20 installers came and installed my new roof on both the house and the garage. These men were by far the best men you could get. Would you like to know why? It’s because of their work ethics. They were polite, accommodating, and extremely hard-working. It was evident that they certainly knew what they were doing every step of the way. When they were finished the end product of their job was both elegant and beautiful! I hope people will take time to consider getting Interlock Roofing, which in my opinion is the best choice they could make if they desire to have a quality roof. Also, I appreciate buying from a company that takes so much pride in what they are doing. Interlock Roofing Speaks for itself when you see it.

Drip, drip, drip. This is not a sound you want to hear at 3:30 am… in bed… coming from your attic… in the dead of winter. A quick peek in the attic confirmed my worst fears, the ice dam on the roof was allowing melted water to seep through the crappy asphalt shingles and into the house. We called a local contractor and had the ice dam removed, but this didn’t fix the underlying problem that our current roof was cheap and damaged. My wife and I moved into a beautiful three-story brick Tudor on Madison’s near west side in the fall of 06′. It was perfect in that it had been beautifully remodeled with gorgeous woodwork, marble, and stunning attention to detail, with the exception of the roof. We had decided that, barring any unforeseen circumstances, this was the house we were going to stay in until retirement, so why not invest in a metal roof. After a couple of weeks of research and interviewing, we settled on Interlock. Part of the choice was made on the quality of the product, and part was made on the salesmanship of the rep, Chuck. Work started and except for some problems with the weather, things progressed smoothly. We were especially impressed with the steps the crew took in regard to safety, and our stay-at-home neighbor told us about how exciting the crew was, “you’re definitely getting your money's worth,” was her exact quote. At the end of the job, the crew even emptied all the trash we had pulled out of the attic for us. Now that’s service! After everything is said and done, we’ve been able to cap off our gorgeous house with an equally gorgeous roof.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Nakoma

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Nakoma, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Nakoma.

Will a metal roof handle Wisconsin's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes. Aluminum roofing thrives in freeze-thaw climates because the material itself cannot rust or absorb moisture—it simply expands and contracts without degradation. Nakoma averages about 84 freeze-thaw days per year, and aluminum's oxide layer self-heals when scratched, meaning each seasonal cycle leaves the roof's corrosion resistance intact. The four-way interlocking panels (ESR-1790 rated) move as one system, preventing the splitting and cracking that plague wood shingles and asphalt in your climate.

How does metal roofing perform under Nakoma's snow load?

Metal roofing sheds snow efficiently because its smooth surface (especially the Standing Seam and Slate profiles) minimizes adhesion, and the lightweight aluminum won't sag under accumulation. Nakoma receives about 89 centimeters of snow annually, but because Interlock panels weigh only 0.41 lb/sq ft for the Shingle profile—about 96% lighter than concrete tile—your home's structure requires no reinforcement. Snow guards can be added to any profile to control release; the panels' four-way interlocking system holds them securely even during the region's gusts up to 104 km/h.

Can metal roofing withstand Wisconsin wind gusts?

Completely. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist sustained winds up to 120 mph (193 km/h), well above Nakoma's typical gust speeds of 104 km/h. Each panel locks on all four edges, creating a unified system that distributes wind load across the entire roof rather than relying on nails or adhesive. With over 25 years of installations from coastal BC to Antarctic research facilities, Interlock's design has proven itself in extreme-wind environments far more severe than Wisconsin's conditions.

Does a metal roof hold up to hail, and will my insurance notice?

Metal roofing earns UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and Interlock's Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Aluminum's density and flexibility absorb impact without cracking the way slate or asphalt shingles do, and because the roof is non-combustible (Class A fire rating available), many insurers offer premium discounts. Ask your agent about savings; the combination of impact resistance and fire rating often qualifies you for better rates than asphalt.

No—aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Instead, a protective oxide layer forms instantly on the aluminum surface and self-heals when scratched, meaning Nakoma's 781 mm of annual rainfall and freeze-thaw cycling pose no corrosion risk. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating (warranted 30 years against fading) is applied to both sides of every panel for extra durability in damp climates. Steel roofing requires paint maintenance and eventual replacement; aluminum needs neither.

Can aluminum roofing rust in Wisconsin's wet climate?

Do reflective metal roofs actually save energy in Wisconsin?

Yes, especially in summer. energy-efficient colors achieve initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, reflecting heat that asphalt absorbs. Nakoma averages about 3,089 sunshine hours per year; on warm days, the reflective finish reduces cooling load compared to dark asphalt. Even in winter, the low-emissivity coating minimizes radiant heat loss. Over the roof's lifetime, the efficiency gain compounds, offsetting the material's upfront cost and reducing utility bills during the region's warmer months.

What is the real lifespan of a metal roof, and what does the warranty cover?

Interlock's Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited material warranty (non-prorated for the original owner) covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. The warranty transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion, protecting your investment across multiple owners. Manufactured since 1998 with installations still performing in extreme salt-air and Antarctic environments, the panels routinely outlast two or three asphalt roof cycles, making this genuinely your last roof.

How is metal roofing installed, and how long does the job take?

Interlock panels install directly over most existing roofs without removal, reducing labor and landfill waste. The four-way interlocking system locks panels together quickly—no exposed fasteners—and a solid deck with underlayment below eliminates noise and ensures uniform performance. Installation timeline depends on roof pitch and size, but the lightweight material (0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft) speeds the process compared to slate or tile. Interlock's local installer, serving the region since 2001, can provide a timeline estimate after site assessment.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really need?

Virtually none compared to asphalt, wood, or clay tile. Aluminum doesn't rot, split, curl, or degrade from UV exposure because the Alunar 70% PVDF coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. Gutters collect minor debris as with any roof, but you'll never replace shingles, re-nail popped fasteners, or deal with moss and algae that plague organic materials in Nakoma's ~89 cm of annual snow and 781 mm of rain. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance burden.

Is metal roofing worth the higher upfront cost?

Yes, over the lifetime of your home. A typical asphalt roof lasts 15–20 years and requires two or three replacements; each replacement means tear-off labor, landfill disposal, and reinstallation costs. Interlock's lifetime warranty and proven 25+ year track record mean one installation covers you and the next owner (50-year transfer term). Factoring in energy savings from the energy-efficiency reflective coating, elimination of maintenance, and the single installation versus multiple re-roofing cycles, metal roofing becomes the lowest-cost option over 40+ years despite higher initial investment.
