I love the roof! It looks great, and the squirrels that we’re crawling all over my old asphalt roof slide right off it. The snow slides off, too. I hope to get some $500 referrals. The crew was terrific, hardworking, courteous, polite, and clean.

25 years of saving money in a C.D. has well paid off for me. I endeavored to save money for a high-quality roof; not wanting to pay for a substandard roofing system. I no longer wanted to have asphalt shingles. Interlock Roofing is the Crème de La of all roofing. One day in June of 2014, I took one of my long walks. I came to a perfect standstill gazing up at the roof of a home I had often passed. It had a new hairdo. This elegant and beautiful roof (dark gray " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">slate) certainly wasn’t asphalt shingles. What could it be? I decided to find out and knocked on the side door. I said to the man who came to the door, “where did you ever get such beautiful roofing?” He then explained that he was thrilled with his recent purchase of Interlock Roofing that was installed in early spring. He immediately told me that it was a “lifetime” roof that was not only very energy efficient but was constructed as a high-impact roof which could better handle nasty storms. He explained to me that I could get rid of my roofing heat tapes because there would be no more ice damming that I would have to be concerned about. Then he added with a twinkle in his eye that I could watch my neighbors struggle with raking snow off their roofs and know that I would never have to stand out in the cold doing this task. With great pride, he told me that Interlock Roofing would look as great as it does today as it would many years down the road because the color never fades. I said, “Who do I contact to get this kind of roof?” He gave me “Greg Weber’s telephone number. He also told me of another home in the area that has had the roof on for 7 years that I could go look at. I got in my car the next day and went over to that home and spoke to the owner, and asked him if he was satisfied with the roof. He answered, “I’m 100% plus satisfied!” WOW! That’s as good as it gets. The rest is history because I made an appointment to see Greg Weber. This week of August 18-20 installers came and installed my new roof on both the house and the garage. These men were by far the best men you could get. Would you like to know why? It’s because of their work ethics. They were polite, accommodating, and extremely hard-working. It was evident that they certainly knew what they were doing every step of the way. When they were finished the end product of their job was both elegant and beautiful! I hope people will take time to consider getting Interlock Roofing, which in my opinion is the best choice they could make if they desire to have a quality roof. Also, I appreciate buying from a company that takes so much pride in what they are doing. Interlock Roofing Speaks for itself when you see it.

Drip, drip, drip. This is not a sound you want to hear at 3:30 am… in bed… coming from your attic… in the dead of winter. A quick peek in the attic confirmed my worst fears, the ice dam on the roof was allowing melted water to seep through the crappy asphalt shingles and into the house. We called a local contractor and had the ice dam removed, but this didn’t fix the underlying problem that our current roof was cheap and damaged. My wife and I moved into a beautiful three-story brick Tudor on Madison’s near west side in the fall of 06′. It was perfect in that it had been beautifully remodeled with gorgeous woodwork, marble, and stunning attention to detail, with the exception of the roof. We had decided that, barring any unforeseen circumstances, this was the house we were going to stay in until retirement, so why not invest in a metal roof. After a couple of weeks of research and interviewing, we settled on Interlock. Part of the choice was made on the quality of the product, and part was made on the salesmanship of the rep, Chuck. Work started and except for some problems with the weather, things progressed smoothly. We were especially impressed with the steps the crew took in regard to safety, and our stay-at-home neighbor told us about how exciting the crew was, “you’re definitely getting your money's worth,” was her exact quote. At the end of the job, the crew even emptied all the trash we had pulled out of the attic for us. Now that’s service! After everything is said and done, we’ve been able to cap off our gorgeous house with an equally gorgeous roof.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Shorewood Hills

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Shorewood Hills, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Shorewood Hills.

Will metal roofing hold up to Wisconsin's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—aluminum actually thrives in freeze-thaw conditions because it has no moisture absorption and cannot rust or rot. Shorewood Hills experiences about 84 freeze-thaw days per year, plus roughly 89 cm of snow, which creates the exact stresses that destroy asphalt and wood shingles through expansion and contraction. Interlock's roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy maintains its strength across unlimited thermal cycling; the Alunar 70% PVDF coating warrants against cracking and loss of integrity for 30 years. Your roof won't degrade from the freeze-thaw cycle that degrades traditional materials.

How does a metal roof handle heavy snow and ice dams in Shorewood Hills?

Metal roofs shed snow faster than asphalt because the smooth surface and thermal conductivity allow ice to release; the four-way interlocking panels create a rigid system that resists snow load without sagging or warping. With an average of 89 cm of annual snowfall and wind gusts reaching 104 km/h, a lightweight metal roof stays structurally sound where heavier materials would require reinforcement. Optional snow guards can be installed on profiles like the Slate or Cedar Shingle if you prefer controlled snow release in specific zones—your local Interlock installer can advise on placement for your home's design.

Can a metal roof handle Dane County wind and storms?

Yes—the four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph, well above the typical gusts Shorewood Hills sees (around 104 km/h peak). Each panel locks to its neighbors in four directions, creating a continuous, flexing system that disperses wind loads rather than catching them like a shingle roof. The ICC-ES evaluation (ESR-1790) confirms structural performance under high wind; your home benefits from this engineered redundancy every time spring and autumn storms move through Dane County.

Will a metal roof save me money on homeowners insurance?

Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurance companies recognize this durability and may offer premium discounts; contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 specification to discuss potential savings. Because aluminum's strength and impact resistance don't degrade over time (the coating protects for 30 years), your roof maintains its hail protection for decades, unlike asphalt that becomes brittle and loses coverage as it ages.

Why is aluminum roofing better than steel in a climate like Wisconsin's?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron; instead, it forms a microscopic oxide layer that self-heals when scratched. Steel, by contrast, rusts continuously unless coated, and any scratch or repair exposes bare metal to the 781 mm of annual rainfall and 89 cm of snow Shorewood Hills receives. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) with Alunar 70% PVDF finish on both sides—extra protection against salt air and moisture. Your roof will never develop rust stains or require anti-corrosion maintenance, even through decades of freeze-thaw and wet Wisconsin winters.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really need?

Interlock metal roofing requires virtually no maintenance—no resealing, no algae treatment, no brittle-edge replacement like asphalt. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance and warrants against chalking and fading for 30 years (tested under ASTM D4214 and D2244 standards). In Shorewood Hills' climate—about 3,089 sunshine hours per year and regular snow—a metal roof simply performs: water sheds, leaves don't accumulate as they do in shingle valleys, and the panels don't curl, split, or lose granules. Your only task is the occasional gutter cleaning, same as any roof.

What's the warranty on Interlock metal roofing, and how long will it really last?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for you as the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance with no dollar cap. It's also transferable once, giving the next owner 50 years of protection from the completion date. Because aluminum cannot rust and the 30-year-warranted coating protects against UV degradation, your roof's core integrity outlasts asphalt by decades; many installations from 1998 onward remain in service. In a freeze-thaw climate like Shorewood Hills, this durability eliminates the 20-year cycle of roof replacement that drives so many homeowners' budgets.

Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Yes—when you calculate the full life cycle, metal roofing is the last roof you buy. Asphalt requires replacement every 15–25 years; metal lasts 50+ years with no major repairs, no tear-off labor, and minimal maintenance. Over 50 years, asphalt means three or four $10,000–$15,000 replacements plus the environmental cost of landfill waste; Interlock's aluminum panels are about 95% recyclable and end that cycle. The Guardian lifetime warranty and 50-year transfer term protect your investment and your home's resale appeal, making the initial cost a one-time expense rather than a recurring mortgage-like payment.

Can metal roofing be installed over my existing roof?

Yes—Interlock's extraordinary lightness makes over-roof installation possible in most cases. The Slate profile installs at 0.41 lb/sq ft, Shake at 0.58, and Tile at 0.59—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so no structural reinforcement is needed. Your local Interlock installer, serving the region since 2001, will inspect your home to confirm your deck can accept the new load (almost always it can) and will work with you on timing and roof access. Over-roofing eliminates the mess and cost of tear-off, cutting your project timeline and reducing disruption during Shorewood Hills' rainy springs and snowy winters.

Does metal roofing help reduce cooling costs in summer?

Yes—Interlock's energy-efficient colors reflect heat that asphalt absorbs, reducing cooling load on your home. The coating achieves up to 0.55 solar reflectance (Aged Copper Penny) and 0.84 thermal emissivity, rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council. In Shorewood Hills, where summers are mild but 3,089 annual sunshine hours add up, this reflectance keeps your attic cooler and reduces air-conditioning strain. Combined with the metal's thermal conductivity—which helps prevent heat buildup under the panels—your home benefits from steady cooling efficiency, and the energy savings compound over the roof's 50+ year life.
