Review: June 17, 2017Completion: February 17, 2017

I have made, and continuously still make, numerous recommendations to family & friends to install a Interlock roof. And, I have produced pictures on demand that I stored on my smart phone. If possible, I would be appreciative if I could get the drone footage that Jesse had taken after the finishing of the installation. I believe it would be a great selling point coming from a true customer to help propel the Interlock name. There are just a couple areas on the roof that the installation crew could have touched-on during the installation, but overall the roof looks simply amazing. Quality certainly displays the professionalism the installers had put into their work. Since the installation of our new roof, we have received numerous compliments from many of our neighbors that walk around our subdivision, plus a handful of neighbors in the adjoining subdivisions. Many questions have been asked with many answers given. We are definitely happy with our new Interlock roof. We have NOT once questioned or second guessed our decision to install an Interlock roof. It is one of the best decisions we have ever made for re-investing in our home...Thank you, Interlock!

Excellent roof! Looks good! The installers were courteous and professional. Put the tarp all around the house and kept the site very clean. I was impressed with their super service. They bent over backward to please us. The A-Team of Roofing!

Review: April 10, 2017Completion: March 17, 2015

I love the roof! It looks great, and the squirrels that we’re crawling all over my old asphalt roof slide right off it. The snow slides off, too. I hope to get some $500 referrals. The crew was terrific, hardworking, courteous, polite, and clean.

Review: May 16, 2017Completion: July 31, 2008

The installation was super smooth. Every installer was courteous and professional. We get lots of compliments, and people stop by all the time to admire it. One of the biggest misconceptions about metal roofing is people think it’s loud. Our Interlock roof is very silent. The only way I know if it’s raining is if I look out a window. Also, the snow just slides off.

I wanted to drop you a note to tell you how much we like (love) our new roof. Installation went smoothly, and the crew was extremely nice, especially Jesse and Sal, the ones I talked with the most. Most of all, they cleaned up any messes every night.

Review: May 16, 2017Completion: September 24, 2014

We purchased our Interlock Lifetime Roof in June 2014. We are very happy with the look, durability of the material, and finish. After a snowfall, the heat of the sun will warm the roof and allow the snow to shed from the roof. We have a great sense of security, knowing it can withstand higher winds than conventional asphalt.

Review: June 9, 2026Completion: June 10, 2026

Your home is your greatest investment, sheltering you from the storms. Don't nickel and dime yourself when choosing a roof, you get what you pay for. We chose Interlock aluminum roofing for our house, and are totally pleased with it. Aluminum doesn't rust period. The current rage of steel roofing is a racket preying on uninformed consumers who want something for next to nothing. Steel roofs are coated to prevent rust. However, once these coatings wear off rust sets in. I have personally seen an 18 year-old steel roof with significant rusting after the coating was gone. Do yourself a favor, get an Interlock aluminum roof. Dean Landers 5 star review June 9/2026 Janesville WI

Review: June 8, 2023Completion: April 30, 2023

The crew was great and easy to work with. They need to advertise their project, and it would be great to have that sign out front. I have had people ask about where I got it done. Everyone was very polite, courteous, and helpful. They answered all of my questions.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Salem Oaks

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Salem Oaks, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Salem Oaks.

Will a metal roof hold up through Wisconsin's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—aluminum thrives in freeze-thaw conditions because it has no iron and cannot rust or corrode, even when exposed to 80+ freeze-thaw days per year like Salem Oaks experiences. The self-healing oxide layer on 3105-H24 aluminum alloy protects against moisture damage that would crack or degrade asphalt or wood shingles. Your roof expands and contracts with temperature swings, but the four-way interlocking panels flex without splitting or curling, and the 30-year Alunar® PVDF coating (both sides) resists the salt and chemicals spread on winter roads. This is why Interlock panels have been installed from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations since 1998.

How does metal roofing handle Salem Oaks' snow and ice buildup?

Metal roofs shed snow faster than asphalt because the smooth, slippery surface reduces friction and encourages slides—especially important when you're averaging about 82 cm of snow annually. The lightweight aluminum panels (Shingle profile at 0.41 lb/sq ft) don't sag under snow load, so ice dams form less readily than on heavier roofs that trap heat. Snow guards can be added to any profile if you prefer controlled release over your patio or parking area. The interlocking design prevents water infiltration if ice melts and refreezes along the seams—a vulnerability in shingle roofs during the 80 freeze-thaw days this region typically sees each year.

Can a metal roof rust in a climate with lots of snow and rain?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and causes rust staining or structural failure. Instead, aluminum develops a microscopically thin, self-healing oxide layer that reforms instantly when scratched, meaning winter road salt and acidic rain (Salem Oaks receives about 835 mm annually) won't trigger the corrosion cascade that destroys steel roofs. The Alunar® 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish, applied to both sides of every panel and warranted 30 years against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214), adds a second chemical barrier. This dual protection is why the Guardian Warranty covers rusting for the original owner's lifetime, with a 50-year transferable term.

Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is needed because Interlock metal roofing is extraordinarily light. The Mediterranean Tile profile, which replicates the weight and appearance of concrete or clay tile, installs at roughly 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than the traditional materials it mimics. This light weight means the roofing can be installed directly over most existing roofs without adding burden to your home's framing, even after Salem Oaks' typical snowfall of about 82 cm accumulates. Homeowners with older homes or those concerned about structural limits appreciate that aluminum delivers authentic tile aesthetics without the engineering costs and complexity of heavy-material upgrades.

Will my metal roof blow off in a Wisconsin windstorm?

Your metal roof is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to Interlock's specification—far beyond Salem Oaks' typical gusts, which average around 20 km/h with historical peaks near 99 km/h. The four-way interlocking panel system creates a mechanical bond that locks each panel to its neighbors; wind doesn't peel off shingles one at a time as it would asphalt. The UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating (the highest available) demonstrates the design's structural integrity under extreme stress. This interlocking strength, combined with proper fastening, means your roof will remain intact during the strongest gusts this region typically experiences.

What's the hail rating on metal roofing, and can I save money on insurance?

Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest classification available—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This resilience may qualify you for homeowners insurance discounts; contact your agent with the UL rating and impact test documentation. Aluminum's non-combustibility and durability record since 1998 also appeal to underwriters. Because you're unlikely to file roofing claims over the roof's 50+ year lifespan (vs. multiple asphalt replacements), the total cost of ownership—including premiums—shifts decisively in metal's favor, especially when considering Salem Oaks' significant annual rainfall of about 835 mm and freeze-thaw stress.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Metal roofing costs more initially but becomes the last roof you'll buy—asphalt requires replacement every 15–20 years, while the Guardian Warranty provides a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty to the original owner and a 50-year transferable term for the next. Over 50 years, you'd replace asphalt 2–3 times (material plus labor), whereas Interlock panels installed once avoid the landfill cycle entirely. Add lower maintenance, potential insurance discounts for the UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating, and energy savings from energy-efficiency colors with 0.84 thermal emissivity, and the total cost per year drops below asphalt. For Salem Oaks homeowners planning to stay long-term, metal is typically cheaper over the roof's life.

How is metal roofing better for the environment than asphalt?

Interlock aluminum roofing is approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, ending the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle that occurs every 15–20 years. A single replacement typically involves 10+ tons of waste per house; across Salem Oaks' many homes over 50 years, that adds up dramatically. Aluminum's lightweight design (Shingle at 0.41 lb/sq ft) also reduces transportation emissions compared to heavy slate or tile. The Alunar® PVDF coating minimizes volatile organic compound (VOC) release and is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance, meaning fewer chemical treatments over time. By choosing a roof that lasts a lifetime with no tear-off waste, you're removing several tons of material from landfills and reducing your home's environmental footprint.

Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Salem Oaks, and how experienced are they?

Interlock Metal Roofing has been serving this region since 2001, providing 20+ years of local expertise in Kenosha County and the surrounding area. Your installer understands Salem Oaks' specific climate challenges—about 82 cm of snow, 835 mm of rain, 80 freeze-thaw days yearly, and typical wind gusts near 99 km/h—and knows how to spec installation details that maximize performance in these conditions. They're familiar with local building codes, can navigate permitting, and stand behind every job. Working with a local, experienced installer who has been in the community two decades means you're not dealing with a roofing franchise; you're getting hands-on, accountable service.

Can a metal roof reduce my cooling costs in summer?

energy-efficient colors on Interlock panels reflect solar heat rather than absorbing it like asphalt, thanks to an initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny) and thermal emissivity of 0.84. These properties reduce the heat gain that asphalt roofs transfer into your attic during Salem Oaks' roughly 3,094 annual sunshine hours, lowering air conditioning load in summer months. The Cool Roof Rating Council certification confirms measurable energy performance. While Wisconsin's heating season dominates, the combination of reflectivity, metal's conductivity, and proper ventilation means summer cooling is more efficient than traditional roofs. Over time, lower peak cooling demands translate to reduced utility bills and less strain on your HVAC system.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Salem Oaks’s climate?

Yes. Salem Oaks averages about 82 cm of snow, 835 mm of rain, roughly 80 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 99 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
