| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|

| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |

What our customers are saying:
Your home is your greatest investment, sheltering you from the storms. Don’t nickel and dime yourself when choosing a roof, you get what you pay for. We chose Interlock aluminum roofing for our house, and are totally pleased with it. Aluminum doesn’t rust period. The current rage of steel roofing is a racket preying on uninformed consumers who want something for next to nothing. Steel roofs are coated to prevent rust. However, once these coatings wear off rust sets in. I have personally seen an 18 year-old steel roof with significant rusting after the coating was gone. Do yourself a favor, get an Interlock aluminum roof. Dean Landers 5 star review June 9/2026 Janesville WI
I had Interlock put on a beautiful red slate roof 17 years ago.The roof still looks beautiful. 5 years ago, I had them also re-roof my garage with the same type of slate. The roofs look gorgeous and I have no maintenance whatsoever.I get complements all the time. The guy whom I contracted with was named "Tim' but has since died. He was a really nice guy. Back in 2009, the roof was much cheaper. ( I actually paid more for the garage 5 years ago!) I am extremely happy with the roofs. The guys did a wonderful job, replacing rotted boards where necessary. They also told me about very cheap gutters I could buy at Menards instead of those ridiculously - priced "special" gutter systems. I bought them and they placed them on my buildings. This home will go to my daughter one day; I do not want her to have to lift a finger. Note that I had an asphalt roof previously. It lasted only 12 years. The shingles curled up under the sun and cracked. They looked terrible. I can honestly say that these metals roofs by Interlock are very much worth what you pay for them. They will last a lifetime with almost no maintenance. Instead of replacing a roof every 15 years and paying lots for asphalt or fiberglass, their metal roofs last very long and you will never have to re- roof again.
Our experience with having our Interlock roof installed was exceptional. It was installed during the hottest days of the year, and none of our neighbors could believe the installers were working so hard during the hot, muggy weather. They finished several days ahead of schedule and left the yard clean and neat, even after a complete tear-off of three layers of roofing. One day during the installation, we had a rain storm, and the installers all took shelter in their vehicles. I noticed that we had a leak in a spot that had clearly had leaks before we bought the house. When I pointed it out to the installers, they went up the ladder in the pouring rain, found the cause of the problem (which, again, was a pre-existing problem, not one due to the Interlock installation) and fixed it on the spot. The service was exceptional.
We purchased our roof in 2009 and as you can see from the pictures taken in May of 2017, our roof looks as new as the day we bought it. Here are the things we have noticed most about our Interlock Lifetime Roof over the last 8 years. It keeps our house much cooler in the summer than the asphalt roof we used to have. It really sheds snow, and the snow guards work great. We never need to use a snow rake. We love the durability and the curb appeal. Greg Weber our representative, who we were enthused to learn, is still with the company. When we saw him in 2009 he laid out all the variables in a professional way and our Interlock Roof has lived up to all of our expectations and promises he made. All companies promise results, service, and quality. Interlock delivers.
The installation was super smooth. Every installer was courteous and professional. We get lots of compliments, and people stop by all the time to admire it. One of the biggest misconceptions about metal roofing is people think it’s loud. Our Interlock roof is very silent. The only way I know if it’s raining is if I look out a window. Also, the snow just slides off. We are also in a wind tunnel area, and we have never lost an Interlock shingle, and we have had the roof for many years. We were so pleased with our Interlock roof that we put the same roof on our lake home in northern Wisconsin. We get a lot more snow up there and the Interlock’s snow-shedding performance capabilities are second to none on that roof, too!
First off, the installation crew was great! They worked very hard, took short breaks, and completed the job very efficiently. Greg Weber, our sales representative, told us an Interlock Roof was more energy efficient than asphalt, and one of the major things we noticed over the years is how much cooler our home office upstairs is in the summertime and warmer it is in the wintertime. It’s a dramatic difference from our old asphalt roof. We have had a few neighbors even question why we invested more in an Interlock roof than a typical asphalt roof, and we always smile and say, “Everybody complains about spending money. Do you want to complain about it once or multiple times, and do you want to be all in to have the best, or not in, and hope for the best.” Thank you, Interlock!
Dear Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems, The installation was terrific. Jessie and his crew were very nice, polite, and clean and worked together like a well-oiled machine. If I was to have work done on my home for any type of project, this is the team I would recommend and would want to work on my house. Greg Weber, my sales representative, answered all my questions, set the proper expectations, and over delivered in every aspect. We had a major rainstorm shortly after the installation, and we noticed no difference in sound at all. Our Interlock roof is the talk of the neighborhood.
Dear Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems: We purchased our Interlock Lifetime Roof in June 2014. We are very happy with the look, durability of the material, and finish. After a snowfall, the heat of the sun will warm the roof and allow the snow to shed from the roof. We have a great sense of security, knowing it can withstand higher winds than conventional asphalt. In fact, our neighbors lost many shingles in the last major wind storm, and our Interlock roof proved to be the high wind resistance product it is with all shingles intact. We love the fact it’s more reliable and has peace of mind knowing it has lots of longevity and will look brand new not only now but down the road. We also received a discount on our homeowner’s insurance. Overall, we were very satisfied with our sales representative Greg Weber, the company, the service, and the product.
We have been do-it-yourselfer homeowners our whole lives. We are very handy and capable when it comes to home improvements and appreciate craftsmanship and quality. And that’s what Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems provided us with our roof. Craftsmanship and quality. Plus, durability, beauty, and experience from a company that manufactures and certify install its own product. That is something, a company that makes its own product, that was very important to us, and no other company in our market offered that, except Interlock. Another thing that was important was we didn’t want to have to deal with rust because many steel metal roofs look good new but look old and hideous down the road because of fading and rusting. Interlock is aluminum. So, it won’t rust, and it achieves and exceeds the highest rating of hail resistance. So, it’s like we said earlier – super durable! Jessie and his crew were super and hard working. We were amazed by their work ethic. That’s something that’s becoming rare nowadays. Also, we were told by a competitor that Greg Weber and Interlock would be high-pressure. That was the furthest thing from the truth. Greg was polite, personable, and knowledgeable and helped us sift through the “lesser quality, cheaper installation, sales gimmicky and overly aggressive” competitors. He provided us with a detailed range of the competition by laying out all the variables so we could make an intelligent comparison and decision. Greg helped save us a lot of time from all the other companies in our market selling what everyone else is selling or just selling stuff and making promises they can’t keep. All the asphalt guys want you to believe that their products will last, and all the steel companies want you to believe their products won’t rust, and everybody knows… That’s Just Not True! Interlock has proven itself for over four decades. That’s Impressive. That’s why we went with them, Jessie and Greg.
In March 2017 we had an Interlock Lifetime Roof installed. Greg Weber, the salesman, was not pushy. We were very impressed with his salesmanship and the product. He also offered to have the Interlock product put on our wishing well in the front yard. That was something we really appreciated. The clean-up was excellent! Many neighbors and people who " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by the house have noticed the roof and asked a lot of questions. We have gotten lots of compliments!
We visited the booth Interlock had at the Remodelling Show at State Fair Park. We got a lot of excellent information there and left our number for a call-back. We did receive the call back promptly and got an appointment right away. The estimator showed up on time and thoroughly explained the process, the product choices and the costs. We signed up for a new metal roof that evening because the advantages were so many, and the expense over time was not much different from regular shingles. This metal roof will probably outlive us! The actual work didn’t start for about two months because the company was very busy, but removing the old layers of shingles was the first process. This was done in a day, and the waterproofing membrane went on. The roofing materials were supposed to be delivered in a couple of days, which unfortunately didn’t happen. The actual work didn’t start for about two months because the company was very busy, but removing the old layers of shingles was the first process. This was done in a day, and the waterproofing membrane went on. The roofing materials were supposed to be delivered in a couple of days, which unfortunately didn’t happen. Instead, a heavy, rainy week intervened, and we did get water in our kitchen. It took a while to get someone to call me back and that was frustrating because it damaged our kitchen ceiling. Ultimately, though, I did get a call, and the work was expedited to the following day. The roofers did the entire installation in one day and did a great job. The roof is beautiful, and we have many people stopping and looking at the wonderful work and superior materials. I know the company will honor their promise to pay for the damage to the kitchen. Once that is done, all is well. The experience wasn’t perfect, but it was as close as mother nature and shipping glitches allowed.
The Interlock crew was able to take some extra time to coordinate with another contractor for solar installation. As a result, the final the result looks great and very functional. The materials used are very high quality, and they worked efficiently and cleaned up when finished.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Salem Prairie
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Salem Prairie, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Salem Prairie.
Will a metal roof hold up to Wisconsin's freeze-thaw cycles?
Yes—aluminum actually thrives in freeze-thaw conditions. Salem Prairie experiences about 80 freeze-thaw days per year, which cracks asphalt shingles and splits wood shake over time. Aluminum has no moisture absorption, so it doesn't expand and contract the way asphalt or wood does. The 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 alloy used in Interlock panels meets ASTM B209 standards specifically for this kind of cycling. When the oxide layer does get scratched during installation or weather, it self-heals. That's why Interlock's been installed from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station since 1998.
How does Interlock handle the snow load and ice dams we get here?
Salem Prairie averages about 82 centimeters of snow annually, and Interlock's four-way interlocking system sheds both snow and ice efficiently because water can't pool under the panels the way it does under asphalt. The panels themselves weigh as little as 0.41 pounds per square foot for the Shingle profile, so they don't add load to your structure—your existing framing carries them without reinforcement. You can install custom snow guards if you want to control where snow slides off, and the four-way interlock keeps wind gusts up to 120 mph from lifting panels during winter storms when ice and snow add weight and stress.
Can Interlock handle the wind gusts we see in Kenosha County?
The design is built for it. Salem Prairie experiences typical daily winds around 20 kilometers per hour with gusts reaching 99 kilometers per hour, and Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 miles per hour (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The interlock pattern doesn't rely on fasteners alone—each panel interlocks with its neighbors, distributing wind load across the entire roof system. That's why the product carries an ICC-ES evaluation report (ESR-1790) for IBC/IRC compliance. Winter storms that combine wind, ice, and snow are where this engineering really earns its keep.
Why aluminum over steel for roofing in a rainy climate like ours?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Steel roofing oxidizes and forms rust that eats through the material; aluminum oxidizes and forms a self-healing oxide layer that actually protects what's underneath. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209 certified), and it's coated on both sides with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish. That dual-side coating is especially valuable in areas with moisture stress—like Salem Prairie with its 835 millimeters of annual rainfall. Even if the coating or aluminum gets scratched, the oxide layer re-forms on its own. After 27 years of installation, no Interlock roof has needed replacement due to corrosion.
What's the real cost difference between Interlock and asphalt over 30 years?
Asphalt costs less upfront but demands replacement every 15 to 20 years, plus maintenance, repairs, and debris removal. Interlock's Guardian warranty covers the original homeowner for life, non-prorated, meaning no deductibles or exclusions as the roof ages. Transfer to the next owner is 50 years from completion. Over three decades, you're buying asphalt twice and paying contractors twice; with Interlock, you're buying once. Energy savings also add up—energy-efficient colors reflect solar heat with initial reflectance up to 0.55, reducing cooling demand during the roughly 3,094 sunshine hours Salem Prairie averages annually. The math flips decisively in Interlock's favor when you total replacement, labor, and energy costs.
Do I need to reinforce my roof for a metal roof installation?
No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's aluminum panels weigh as little as 0.41 pounds per square foot for the Shingle profile and 0.59 pounds for the Mediterranean Tile—about 96 percent lighter than concrete or clay tile. Most existing residential framing can carry them without modification, which is why Interlock installs directly over your current roof in most cases. Compare that to a slate or tile job, which often requires engineering and costly framing upgrades. The light weight also matters during installation: crews work faster and safer, and there's less stress on your home during the transition. That's one of the practical reasons homeowners in Salem Prairie choose aluminum tile profiles when they want the look of heavy masonry materials.
What's the hail rating, and will my insurance company care?
Interlock carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. That's substantial. While Kenosha County doesn't see the hail frequency of plains states, severe weather does happen, and one major hail event can total an asphalt roof. Insurance companies recognize the Class 4 rating and the durability of aluminum, and some offer premium discounts for metal roofing. It's worth asking your agent to compare quotes before and after the upgrade. The combination of impact resistance and a lifetime limited warranty against loss of impact resistance gives you and your lender real peace of mind.
How much upkeep does a metal roof actually need?
Very little compared to asphalt, wood, or tile. Asphalt shingles need annual inspection, gutter cleaning, moss treatment, and flashing repairs; wood shake splits and rots and requires sealing; tile cracks and leaks. Interlock aluminum doesn't rot, split, crack, or curl—it's non-combustible (Class A fire rating available), won't grow moss, and needs only occasional gutter cleaning and a rinse-off if debris accumulates. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading (tested to ASTM D4214 and D2244 standards), so color stays true even under Salem Prairie's roughly 3,094 annual sunshine hours. Most owners simply don't think about their roof once it's on—which is the whole point.
How does Interlock compare to asphalt roofing environmentally?
Asphalt shingles end up in landfills by the millions of tons each year; aluminum is approximately 95 percent recyclable and breaks the tear-off-to-landfill cycle. Interlock panels manufactured in Delta, BC since 1998 use roofing-grade aluminum alloy that can be re-melted and re-used indefinitely with no loss of properties. The energy-efficiency certification and Cool Roof Rating Council rating reduce the energy needed to cool homes—especially valuable across Salem Prairie's 3,094 sunshine hours annually—which lowers carbon footprint over the roof's lifetime. When you eventually recycle an Interlock roof decades from now, every ounce returns to the materials stream. Asphalt, by contrast, cannot be recycled into new roofing.
Who installs Interlock in Salem Prairie, and how long have they been doing it?
Interlock Metal Roofing has been serving this region since 2001—over 23 years of local experience installing these panels in Kenosha County weather. They know how to handle Salem Prairie's roughly 82 centimeters of annual snow, the freeze-thaw cycles, and wind gusts up to 99 kilometers per hour. Working with a local installer means faster response times, warranty support from someone who understands your climate, and accountability in the community. They can also advise on the five profiles available—Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile—and recommend which suits your home's style and your specific site conditions.
