Review: June 17, 2017Completion: February 17, 2017

I have made, and continuously still make, numerous recommendations to family & friends to install a Interlock roof. And, I have produced pictures on demand that I stored on my smart phone. If possible, I would be appreciative if I could get the drone footage that Jesse had taken after the finishing of the installation. I believe it would be a great selling point coming from a true customer to help propel the Interlock name. There are just a couple areas on the roof that the installation crew could have touched-on during the installation, but overall the roof looks simply amazing. Quality certainly displays the professionalism the installers had put into their work. Since the installation of our new roof, we have received numerous compliments from many of our neighbors that walk around our subdivision, plus a handful of neighbors in the adjoining subdivisions. Many questions have been asked with many answers given. We are definitely happy with our new Interlock roof. We have NOT once questioned or second guessed our decision to install an Interlock roof. It is one of the best decisions we have ever made for re-investing in our home...Thank you, Interlock!

Excellent roof! Looks good! The installers were courteous and professional. Put the tarp all around the house and kept the site very clean. I was impressed with their super service. They bent over backward to please us. The A-Team of Roofing!

Review: April 10, 2017Completion: March 17, 2015

I love the roof! It looks great, and the squirrels that we’re crawling all over my old asphalt roof slide right off it. The snow slides off, too. I hope to get some $500 referrals. The crew was terrific, hardworking, courteous, polite, and clean.

Review: May 16, 2017Completion: July 31, 2008

The installation was super smooth. Every installer was courteous and professional. We get lots of compliments, and people stop by all the time to admire it. One of the biggest misconceptions about metal roofing is people think it’s loud. Our Interlock roof is very silent. The only way I know if it’s raining is if I look out a window. Also, the snow just slides off.

I wanted to drop you a note to tell you how much we like (love) our new roof. Installation went smoothly, and the crew was extremely nice, especially Jesse and Sal, the ones I talked with the most. Most of all, they cleaned up any messes every night.

Review: May 16, 2017Completion: September 24, 2014

We purchased our Interlock Lifetime Roof in June 2014. We are very happy with the look, durability of the material, and finish. After a snowfall, the heat of the sun will warm the roof and allow the snow to shed from the roof. We have a great sense of security, knowing it can withstand higher winds than conventional asphalt.

Review: June 9, 2026Completion: June 10, 2026

Your home is your greatest investment, sheltering you from the storms. Don't nickel and dime yourself when choosing a roof, you get what you pay for. We chose Interlock aluminum roofing for our house, and are totally pleased with it. Aluminum doesn't rust period. The current rage of steel roofing is a racket preying on uninformed consumers who want something for next to nothing. Steel roofs are coated to prevent rust. However, once these coatings wear off rust sets in. I have personally seen an 18 year-old steel roof with significant rusting after the coating was gone. Do yourself a favor, get an Interlock aluminum roof. Dean Landers 5 star review June 9/2026 Janesville WI

Review: June 8, 2023Completion: April 30, 2023

The crew was great and easy to work with. They need to advertise their project, and it would be great to have that sign out front. I have had people ask about where I got it done. Everyone was very polite, courteous, and helpful. They answered all of my questions.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Salem Lakes

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Salem Lakes, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Salem Lakes.

Will a metal roof handle Wisconsin's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—aluminum's oxide layer self-heals when scratched, so it won't degrade from Salem Lakes' approximately 80 freeze-thaw days per year. Unlike asphalt, which becomes brittle in freeze cycles and cracks as it thaws, aluminum flexes without permanent damage. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, even through repeated temperature swings. Asphalt typically fails in 15–20 years under the same stress.

How does metal roofing perform with Salem Lakes' snow load?

Metal panels are extraordinarily light—the Slate profile installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft—so they handle your region's average 82 cm of annual snow without requiring structural reinforcement. The four-way interlocking design sheds snow evenly and resists ice damming better than asphalt because metal conducts and releases heat more efficiently across the entire roof surface. Snow guards are optional and install easily if you prefer controlled snow release near walkways.

Can metal roofing survive Kenosha County wind gusts?

The warranty covers wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification. Salem Lakes experiences typical gusts around 99 km/h (61 mph), well within safe operating range. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels lock together so tightly that individual sections cannot lift independently during storms. This design, combined with ESR-1790 code compliance, gives you protection that exceeds what most asphalt or tile roofs can handle in the region.

Does metal roofing rust in Wisconsin?

No. Aluminum contains no iron and cannot rust. When scratched, the aluminum oxide layer self-heals automatically—a property steel roofing lacks entirely. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating is applied to both sides of every panel, doubling protection in Kenosha County's wet climate (approximately 835 mm of rain annually). This dual-side finish was originally developed for coastal salt-air homes and has been proven since 1998 at an Antarctic research station, making it overqualified for Wisconsin weather.

What protection does metal roofing offer against hail in Wisconsin?

Interlock Metal Roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This rating often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts that offset the roof's cost over time. Asphalt and wood shake roofs typically achieve only Class 1 or 2 ratings, requiring replacement after even moderate hail events. Your insurer may credit the superior impact resistance, reducing premiums for the life of the roof.

Will a metal roof lower cooling costs in summer?

energy-efficient colors reflect heat rather than absorb it, with initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84—Cool Roof Rating Council verified. During Salem Lakes' approximately 3094 annual sunshine hours, this means less heat enters your attic compared to asphalt. The reflective coating works year-round: in summer it reduces air conditioning load; in winter it doesn't prevent heat retention because aluminum conducts uniformly. Energy savings typically offset 15–25% of cooling costs over the first decade.

How much upkeep does a metal roof need compared to asphalt?

Metal requires almost no routine maintenance. Asphalt shingles need inspection after every storm, algae treatment every 3–5 years, and gutter cleaning of granule debris. Metal roofs shed debris automatically and do not degrade from weather exposure. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is warranted 30 years against fading—no resealing or recoating. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance burden. Your only task: inspect gutters and clear leaves, the same as with any roof.

Can metal roofing install over my existing asphalt roof?

Yes, in most cases. The Slate profile weighs just 0.41 lb/sq ft, and the Tile profile is approximately 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile, so no structural reinforcement is needed. Installation over existing asphalt is possible when the deck is sound. Your local installer, Interlock Metal Roofing, has served the region since 2001 and evaluates each home's structure before recommending removal or overlay. This approach saves labor costs and eliminates the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill waste cycle.

Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost versus asphalt?

Metal costs more initially but is the last roof you'll buy. Asphalt requires replacement every 15–20 years; metal carries a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—one-time transferable to the next owner for 50 years from completion. Over 50 years, you'll replace asphalt 2–3 times while maintaining one metal roof. Factor in avoided maintenance (no algae treatment, no granule cleanup), potential insurance discounts (UL 2218 Class 4 hail rating), and energy savings across 3094 annual sunshine hours, and the total cost of ownership favors metal substantially.

What does the lifetime warranty on metal roofing actually cover?

The Guardian Warranty covers the original owner for life and is non-prorated—meaning a claim at year 40 receives full replacement value, not a depreciated amount. Coverage includes rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. The next owner receives 50 years of protection from completion. This structure reflects aluminum's actual durability: no rust is possible, and the Alunar 70% PVDF coating is warranted 30 years, giving genuine assurance that the roof will outlast most mortgages.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Salem Lakes’s climate?

Yes. Salem Lakes averages about 82 cm of snow, 835 mm of rain, roughly 80 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 99 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
