Review: June 17, 2017Completion: February 17, 2017

I have made, and continuously still make, numerous recommendations to family & friends to install a Interlock roof. And, I have produced pictures on demand that I stored on my smart phone. If possible, I would be appreciative if I could get the drone footage that Jesse had taken after the finishing of the installation. I believe it would be a great selling point coming from a true customer to help propel the Interlock name. There are just a couple areas on the roof that the installation crew could have touched-on during the installation, but overall the roof looks simply amazing. Quality certainly displays the professionalism the installers had put into their work. Since the installation of our new roof, we have received numerous compliments from many of our neighbors that walk around our subdivision, plus a handful of neighbors in the adjoining subdivisions. Many questions have been asked with many answers given. We are definitely happy with our new Interlock roof. We have NOT once questioned or second guessed our decision to install an Interlock roof. It is one of the best decisions we have ever made for re-investing in our home...Thank you, Interlock!

Excellent roof! Looks good! The installers were courteous and professional. Put the tarp all around the house and kept the site very clean. I was impressed with their super service. They bent over backward to please us. The A-Team of Roofing!

Review: April 10, 2017Completion: March 17, 2015

I love the roof! It looks great, and the squirrels that we’re crawling all over my old asphalt roof slide right off it. The snow slides off, too. I hope to get some $500 referrals. The crew was terrific, hardworking, courteous, polite, and clean.

Review: May 16, 2017Completion: July 31, 2008

The installation was super smooth. Every installer was courteous and professional. We get lots of compliments, and people stop by all the time to admire it. One of the biggest misconceptions about metal roofing is people think it’s loud. Our Interlock roof is very silent. The only way I know if it’s raining is if I look out a window. Also, the snow just slides off.

I wanted to drop you a note to tell you how much we like (love) our new roof. Installation went smoothly, and the crew was extremely nice, especially Jesse and Sal, the ones I talked with the most. Most of all, they cleaned up any messes every night.

Review: May 16, 2017Completion: September 24, 2014

We purchased our Interlock Lifetime Roof in June 2014. We are very happy with the look, durability of the material, and finish. After a snowfall, the heat of the sun will warm the roof and allow the snow to shed from the roof. We have a great sense of security, knowing it can withstand higher winds than conventional asphalt.

Review: June 9, 2026Completion: June 10, 2026

Your home is your greatest investment, sheltering you from the storms. Don't nickel and dime yourself when choosing a roof, you get what you pay for. We chose Interlock aluminum roofing for our house, and are totally pleased with it. Aluminum doesn't rust period. The current rage of steel roofing is a racket preying on uninformed consumers who want something for next to nothing. Steel roofs are coated to prevent rust. However, once these coatings wear off rust sets in. I have personally seen an 18 year-old steel roof with significant rusting after the coating was gone. Do yourself a favor, get an Interlock aluminum roof. Dean Landers 5 star review June 9/2026 Janesville WI

Review: June 8, 2023Completion: April 30, 2023

The crew was great and easy to work with. They need to advertise their project, and it would be great to have that sign out front. I have had people ask about where I got it done. Everyone was very polite, courteous, and helpful. They answered all of my questions.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Salem Ridge

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Salem Ridge, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Salem Ridge.

Will a metal roof handle Wisconsin's freeze-thaw cycles without damage?

Yes—aluminum's crystalline structure naturally resists the cracking and splitting that plague wood and asphalt in freeze-thaw climates. Salem Ridge sees about 80 freeze-thaw days yearly, plus roughly 82 cm of snow and 835 mm of rain, creating constant expansion and contraction. Interlock's roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) is engineered for exactly this punishment. The four-way interlocking panels accommodate seasonal movement without stress concentration, and the Alunar 70% PVDF coating—warranted 30 years against chalking and fading—remains flexible through temperature swings that degrade asphalt. Your metal roof will be performing long after traditional materials have cracked or curled.

Can aluminum metal roofing rust like steel?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes to form rust. Instead, aluminum develops a microscopically thin oxide layer that actually protects the metal beneath and self-heals when scratched. This is why Interlock has installed roofs in coastal salt-air homes and even an Antarctic research station. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish, applied to both sides of every panel, provides additional corrosion defense during Salem Ridge's wet winters—835 mm of annual rainfall and frequent freeze-thaw cycles that would corrode steel roofing within years. You're getting a non-ferrous material that won't deteriorate from moisture alone.

How does a metal roof perform with heavy snow and ice in Wisconsin winters?

Metal roofing sheds snow and ice effectively because its smooth, hard surface prevents moisture adhesion and allows safe, controlled release rather than dangerous ice-dam buildup. Salem Ridge receives about 82 cm of snow annually and experiences roughly 80 freeze-thaw days—conditions that breed ice dams on asphalt. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels create a unified system that distributes snow loads evenly; the lightweight design (Shingle at 0.41 lb/sq ft, Shake at 0.58) means no structural reinforcement is needed, and you retain full attic ventilation. Snow guards can be installed if you prefer gradual shedding rather than rapid release. The result is fewer winter maintenance headaches and no dams weakening your gutters or leaking into walls.

Will metal roofing stay secure in Wisconsin wind gusts?

Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph, and Salem Ridge's typical gusts reach about 99 km/h (roughly 62 mph), well within that safety margin. The interlocking geometry distributes lateral forces across the entire panel system rather than relying on fasteners alone; each panel locks to its neighbors on all four sides. This engineered redundancy means your roof won't lift, separate, or fail during the gusty conditions common in Kenosha County. The wind warranty is part of The Guardian—our lifetime limited warranty for the original owner—so you're protected by design and by guarantee.

Does a metal roof hold up to hail, and can it lower my insurance?

Interlock's roofing achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This superior impact resistance often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts; contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 rating to explore savings. Many insurers view metal roofing as a long-term loss reduction, especially in regions prone to severe weather. The non-combustible aluminum and Class A fire classification available on Interlock profiles further strengthen your risk profile. Over the life of the roof, those premium reductions can add up substantially, offsetting a meaningful portion of your installation cost.

What's the real lifespan of a metal roof, and what does the warranty cover?

Interlock's The Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's transferable once, giving the next owner 50 years of coverage from completion. This means you're buying your last roof. The aluminum alloy and 30-year Alunar coating are proven across 25+ years of installations, from salt-air coastal homes to an Antarctic research station. In Salem Ridge's climate—with 82 cm of snow, 835 mm of rain, and 80 freeze-thaw days annually—materials that cannot rust, split, or curl have clear longevity advantages over asphalt (15–20 years) and wood (20–40 years).

Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

When you calculate the total cost of ownership over 50+ years, metal roofing is typically the more economical choice. Asphalt requires replacement every 15–20 years; you'll reroof 2–3 times before metal ever needs replacement. Interlock's roofing lasts 50+ years under The Guardian, eliminating tear-off and disposal labor costs each cycle. Factor in minimal maintenance (no algae treatment, no curl repairs), potential insurance discounts for Class 4 hail impact rating, and published solar-reflectance listing s that reduce cooling costs. Salem Ridge's 3094 sunshine hours annually let reflective coatings with up to 0.55 solar reflectance make a measurable difference. The upfront premium narrows dramatically when you stop replacing your roof every two decades.

Can you install a metal roof over my existing asphalt shingles?

Yes. Because Interlock's roofing is extraordinarily lightweight—the Mediterranean Tile profile weighs about 96% less than concrete or clay tile—you can install over most existing roofs without structural reinforcement. Removing old asphalt avoids a landfill trip and the labor cost of tearoff. The installation process typically spans 1–3 days depending on roof complexity; the four-way interlocking system is designed for efficient, weather-tight assembly. Interlock has been serving this region since 2001 and understands Salem Ridge's specific building codes (ICC-ES ESR-1790, reissued 2025). Our local installer will evaluate your roof structure and advise whether a tearoff or overlay makes sense for your home.

What maintenance does a metal roof actually need?

Interlock roofing requires minimal upkeep—no algae treatment, no debris removal, no sealant reapplication. Twice yearly, inspect fasteners and flashing after heavy weather; clear gutters of leaves and pine needles as you would with any roof. The aluminum and Alunar 70% PVDF coating resist fading and chalking for 30 years (measured under ASTM D4214 and D2244 standards), so you won't see the graying and granule loss that plague asphalt in Salem Ridge's 835 mm of annual rainfall and strong UV exposure (about 3094 sunshine hours per year). Compare this to asphalt requiring algae treatment, wood shingles needing annual inspection for rot and splitting, or tile requiring mortar repointing. Metal roofing's durability directly translates to hands-off ownership.

Is metal roofing actually better for the environment?

Yes. Interlock's aluminum roofing is approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, breaking the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle that repeats every 15–20 years. Over a 50-year period, replacing asphalt twice means two full roofing systems in the waste stream; metal roofing ends that cycle entirely. The lightweight design (Shake at 0.58 lb/sq ft) also reduces installation labor and transportation emissions compared to slate or tile alternatives. Additionally, energy-efficient colors with up to 0.55 solar reflectance and 0.84 thermal emissivity lower cooling demand during Salem Ridge's roughly 3094 sunny hours annually, reducing your home's lifetime carbon footprint. Choosing metal is choosing a roof that won't need replacing again.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Salem Ridge’s climate?

Yes. Salem Ridge averages about 82 cm of snow, 835 mm of rain, roughly 80 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 99 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
