Your home is your greatest investment, sheltering you from the storms. Don’t nickel and dime yourself when choosing a roof, you get what you pay for. We chose Interlock aluminum roofing for our house, and are totally pleased with it. Aluminum doesn’t rust period. The current rage of steel roofing is a racket preying on uninformed consumers who want something for next to nothing. Steel roofs are coated to prevent rust. However, once these coatings wear off rust sets in. I have personally seen an 18 year-old steel roof with significant rusting after the coating was gone. Do yourself a favor, get an Interlock aluminum roof. Dean Landers 5 star review June 9/2026 Janesville WI

Review: April 16, 2026 Completion: February 20, 2009

I had Interlock put on a beautiful red slate roof 17 years ago.The roof still looks beautiful. 5 years ago, I had them also re-roof my garage with the same type of slate. The roofs look gorgeous and I have no maintenance whatsoever.I get complements all the time. The guy whom I contracted with was named "Tim' but has since died. He was a really nice guy. Back in 2009, the roof was much cheaper. ( I actually paid more for the garage 5 years ago!) I am extremely happy with the roofs. The guys did a wonderful job, replacing rotted boards where necessary. They also told me about very cheap gutters I could buy at Menards instead of those ridiculously - priced "special" gutter systems. I bought them and they placed them on my buildings. This home will go to my daughter one day; I do not want her to have to lift a finger. Note that I had an asphalt roof previously. It lasted only 12 years. The shingles curled up under the sun and cracked. They looked terrible. I can honestly say that these metals roofs by Interlock are very much worth what you pay for them. They will last a lifetime with almost no maintenance. Instead of replacing a roof every 15 years and paying lots for asphalt or fiberglass, their metal roofs last very long and you will never have to re- roof again.

Review: May 17, 2017

Our experience with having our Interlock roof installed was exceptional. It was installed during the hottest days of the year, and none of our neighbors could believe the installers were working so hard during the hot, muggy weather. They finished several days ahead of schedule and left the yard clean and neat, even after a complete tear-off of three layers of roofing. One day during the installation, we had a rain storm, and the installers all took shelter in their vehicles. I noticed that we had a leak in a spot that had clearly had leaks before we bought the house. When I pointed it out to the installers, they went up the ladder in the pouring rain, found the cause of the problem (which, again, was a pre-existing problem, not one due to the Interlock installation) and fixed it on the spot. The service was exceptional.

Review: May 17, 2017

We purchased our roof in 2009 and as you can see from the pictures taken in May of 2017, our roof looks as new as the day we bought it. Here are the things we have noticed most about our Interlock Lifetime Roof over the last 8 years. It keeps our house much cooler in the summer than the asphalt roof we used to have. It really sheds snow, and the snow guards work great. We never need to use a snow rake. We love the durability and the curb appeal. Greg Weber our representative, who we were enthused to learn, is still with the company. When we saw him in 2009 he laid out all the variables in a professional way and our Interlock Roof has lived up to all of our expectations and promises he made. All companies promise results, service, and quality. Interlock delivers.

Review: May 16, 2017

The installation was super smooth. Every installer was courteous and professional. We get lots of compliments, and people stop by all the time to admire it. One of the biggest misconceptions about metal roofing is people think it’s loud. Our Interlock roof is very silent. The only way I know if it’s raining is if I look out a window. Also, the snow just slides off. We are also in a wind tunnel area, and we have never lost an Interlock shingle, and we have had the roof for many years. We were so pleased with our Interlock roof that we put the same roof on our lake home in northern Wisconsin. We get a lot more snow up there and the Interlock’s snow-shedding performance capabilities are second to none on that roof, too!

Review: May 16, 2017

First off, the installation crew was great! They worked very hard, took short breaks, and completed the job very efficiently. Greg Weber, our sales representative, told us an Interlock Roof was more energy efficient than asphalt, and one of the major things we noticed over the years is how much cooler our home office upstairs is in the summertime and warmer it is in the wintertime. It’s a dramatic difference from our old asphalt roof. We have had a few neighbors even question why we invested more in an Interlock roof than a typical asphalt roof, and we always smile and say, “Everybody complains about spending money. Do you want to complain about it once or multiple times, and do you want to be all in to have the best, or not in, and hope for the best.” Thank you, Interlock!

Review: May 16, 2017

Dear Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems, The installation was terrific. Jessie and his crew were very nice, polite, and clean and worked together like a well-oiled machine. If I was to have work done on my home for any type of project, this is the team I would recommend and would want to work on my house. Greg Weber, my sales representative, answered all my questions, set the proper expectations, and over delivered in every aspect. We had a major rainstorm shortly after the installation, and we noticed no difference in sound at all. Our Interlock roof is the talk of the neighborhood.

Review: May 16, 2017

Dear Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems: We purchased our Interlock Lifetime Roof in June 2014. We are very happy with the look, durability of the material, and finish. After a snowfall, the heat of the sun will warm the roof and allow the snow to shed from the roof. We have a great sense of security, knowing it can withstand higher winds than conventional asphalt. In fact, our neighbors lost many shingles in the last major wind storm, and our Interlock roof proved to be the high wind resistance product it is with all shingles intact. We love the fact it’s more reliable and has peace of mind knowing it has lots of longevity and will look brand new not only now but down the road. We also received a discount on our homeowner’s insurance. Overall, we were very satisfied with our sales representative Greg Weber, the company, the service, and the product.

Review: May 16, 2017

We have been do-it-yourselfer homeowners our whole lives. We are very handy and capable when it comes to home improvements and appreciate craftsmanship and quality. And that’s what Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems provided us with our roof. Craftsmanship and quality. Plus, durability, beauty, and experience from a company that manufactures and certify install its own product. That is something, a company that makes its own product, that was very important to us, and no other company in our market offered that, except Interlock. Another thing that was important was we didn’t want to have to deal with rust because many steel metal roofs look good new but look old and hideous down the road because of fading and rusting. Interlock is aluminum. So, it won’t rust, and it achieves and exceeds the highest rating of hail resistance. So, it’s like we said earlier – super durable! Jessie and his crew were super and hard working. We were amazed by their work ethic. That’s something that’s becoming rare nowadays. Also, we were told by a competitor that Greg Weber and Interlock would be high-pressure. That was the furthest thing from the truth. Greg was polite, personable, and knowledgeable and helped us sift through the “lesser quality, cheaper installation, sales gimmicky and overly aggressive” competitors. He provided us with a detailed range of the competition by laying out all the variables so we could make an intelligent comparison and decision. Greg helped save us a lot of time from all the other companies in our market selling what everyone else is selling or just selling stuff and making promises they can’t keep. All the asphalt guys want you to believe that their products will last, and all the steel companies want you to believe their products won’t rust, and everybody knows… That’s Just Not True! Interlock has proven itself for over four decades. That’s Impressive. That’s why we went with them, Jessie and Greg.

In March 2017 we had an Interlock Lifetime Roof installed. Greg Weber, the salesman, was not pushy. We were very impressed with his salesmanship and the product. He also offered to have the Interlock product put on our wishing well in the front yard. That was something we really appreciated. The clean-up was excellent! Many neighbors and people who " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by the house have noticed the roof and asked a lot of questions. We have gotten lots of compliments!

Review: April 25, 2017

We visited the booth Interlock had at the Remodelling Show at State Fair Park. We got a lot of excellent information there and left our number for a call-back. We did receive the call back promptly and got an appointment right away. The estimator showed up on time and thoroughly explained the process, the product choices and the costs. We signed up for a new metal roof that evening because the advantages were so many, and the expense over time was not much different from regular shingles. This metal roof will probably outlive us! The actual work didn’t start for about two months because the company was very busy, but removing the old layers of shingles was the first process. This was done in a day, and the waterproofing membrane went on. The roofing materials were supposed to be delivered in a couple of days, which unfortunately didn’t happen. Instead, a heavy, rainy week intervened, and we did get water in our kitchen. It took a while to get someone to call me back and that was frustrating because it damaged our kitchen ceiling. Ultimately, though, I did get a call, and the work was expedited to the following day. The roofers did the entire installation in one day and did a great job. The roof is beautiful, and we have many people stopping and looking at the wonderful work and superior materials. I know the company will honor their promise to pay for the damage to the kitchen. Once that is done, all is well. The experience wasn’t perfect, but it was as close as mother nature and shipping glitches allowed.

The Interlock crew was able to take some extra time to coordinate with another contractor for solar installation. As a result, the final the result looks great and very functional. The materials used are very high quality, and they worked efficiently and cleaned up when finished.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Waterloo Heights

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Waterloo Heights, Wisconsin. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Waterloo Heights.

How does metal roofing handle Waterloo Heights' snow and ice buildup?

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow and ice efficiently due to their smooth, hard surface and steep-profile options like Slate and Shake. With Waterloo Heights averaging about 86 cm of snow annually and roughly 87 freeze-thaw cycles per year, the aluminum's non-porous oxide layer won't absorb meltwater that refreezes—a common problem with asphalt. The Shake and Slate profiles naturally angle water away; optional snow guards are available if you prefer to retain snow for insulation. Aluminum expands and contracts minimally with temperature swings, so panels remain watertight through repeated freeze-thaw stress that degrades asphalt shingles.

Why doesn't freeze-thaw damage aluminum metal roofing like it damages asphalt?

Aluminum is not porous, so it doesn't absorb water that expands when frozen and cracks the material from inside—the main way asphalt shingles fail in cold climates. Waterloo Heights experiences about 87 freeze-thaw days annually, subjecting roofing to repeated moisture infiltration cycles. Interlock's 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum alloy maintains its structural integrity through these swings because water sits on the surface and runs off rather than penetrating. The interlocking seams, which span joint gaps, prevent meltwater from working into fasteners or substrate. After 27 years in the roofing market since 1998, Interlock has performed consistently in harsh continental climates with similar or greater seasonal stress.

Can a metal roof rust in Wisconsin's wet climate?

No. Interlock panels are made from aluminum (roofing-grade 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 alloy to ASTM B209), which contains no iron and therefore cannot rust. Instead, aluminum forms a thin oxide layer that self-heals when scratched—a natural corrosion barrier that asphalt and steel roofing cannot match. With Waterloo Heights receiving about 788 mm of rain annually plus snowmelt, moisture is constant, but the Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish, applied to both sides of each panel and warranted 30 years against fading, adds a second defensive layer. Even in humid continental regions, aluminum roofing installed since 1998 shows zero rust. Steel roofing, by contrast, requires constant maintenance to prevent rust breakthrough.

Will metal roofing blow off in Waterloo Heights' wind storms?

No. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels lock together mechanically, distributing wind loads across the entire roof assembly rather than relying on fasteners alone. The system is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Waterloo Heights' typical gusts reach about 95 km/h with a mean wind speed of roughly 20 km/h, so your roof will resist the strongest local winds with a significant safety margin. Each panel edge interlocks with its neighbors, eliminating the uplift risk that single-fastener asphalt shingles face. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 (reissued 2025) confirms installation compliance with the IBC/IRC wind load standards for your region.

Is Interlock metal roofing rated for hail in Wisconsin?

Yes. Interlock carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 aluminum roofing is significantly more impact-resistant than asphalt shingles (rated Class 1 or 2) or wood shake, which splinters or cracks under similar stress. Many insurers recognize this durability and offer premium discounts for Class 4 metal roofing. Wisconsin's hail season and Waterloo Heights' exposure to severe weather are managed effectively by aluminum's inherent hardness and the interlocking design that distributes impact force. Check with your agent about potential savings when you upgrade—the cost difference often covers itself within 5–10 years.

Does metal roofing save energy in Wisconsin?

During Waterloo Heights' roughly 3,093 annual sunshine hours, energy-efficient Interlock colors reduce cooling loads by reflecting heat that asphalt absorbs and retains. Selected colors achieve a solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny) with a thermal emissivity of 0.84, Cool Roof Rating Council rated. Aluminum's inherent thermal properties dissipate heat faster than dark asphalt, lowering air-conditioning demand during warm months. Combined with proper attic ventilation, a reflective metal roof can reduce interior temperature by 10–20°F on peak-sun days. Over the roof's 50-year-plus lifespan, the energy savings compound. Waterloo Heights' moderate 9.2°C mean temperature means your savings lean toward avoiding heat gain rather than insulation, but every reduction in cooling cost extends your energy budget.

How much maintenance does a metal roof require compared to asphalt or wood?

Interlock metal roofing requires virtually no maintenance. Unlike asphalt shingles, which degrade, curl, and lose granules over 15–20 years, or wood shake, which splits, rots, and demands regular treatment, aluminum panels self-heal their oxide layer when scratched and don't absorb water. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating (warranted 30 years against fading and chalking to ASTM D4214 / D2244) resists the chemical degradation that asphalt suffers. With Waterloo Heights experiencing about 788 mm of rain annually and 86 cm of snow, water runs off rather than pooling—no moss, mold, or algae growth. No annual inspections, no sealing, no repairs from weather damage. You can rinse debris twice yearly if desired, but that's optional, not required.

Is Interlock metal roofing worth the upfront cost over a 50-year period?

Yes. While metal roofing costs more initially than asphalt shingles, it lasts 50+ years versus asphalt's 15–25 years, meaning you'll avoid three to four costly re-roof cycles over a half-century. The Guardian lifetime limited warranty—non-prorated for the original owner and one-time transferable for 50 years to the next owner—covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and impact loss. Include avoided tear-off labor, disposal fees, interruption costs, and energy savings across the system's lifespan, and the total cost per year drops below asphalt. Waterloo Heights' 87 freeze-thaw days and 86 cm snow annually accelerate asphalt degradation, shortening its lifespan further and widening the cost advantage for aluminum. This is your last roof.

Can my house structure support metal roofing, or do I need reinforcement?

Most Waterloo Heights homes need no structural reinforcement. Interlock Slate installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft, Shake at 0.58, and Mediterranean Tile at 0.59 lb/sq ft—approximately 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Even the heaviest Interlock profile weighs less than many asphalt shingle systems. Aluminum's light weight also allows installation over most existing roofs, eliminating expensive tear-off labor and landfill disposal. Steel roofing, by contrast, is heavier and often requires structural upgrades. A licensed installer will verify your framing during the estimate, but the vast majority of residential framing, especially in Waterloo Heights' typical residential stock, accommodates aluminum roofing without additional support. This is one of aluminum's chief advantages over traditional tile.
