Two Homes. Two Roofs. One Clear Choice: Why Tim Trusted Interlock in Federal Way, WA

There are choices we make once. Then there are choices we make again—because they were that good the first time.

That’s the story Tim brings us from Federal Way, Washington—a vibrant city tucked between the shimmering Puget Sound and the snow-capped presence of Mount Rainier. It’s where weather can turn on a dime, and salt air, wind, and moisture are part of the landscape. This is where Tim made the same decision twice: he chose Interlock Metal Roofing.

The Full, Unedited 5-Star Review

A Roof That Belongs in the Pacific Northwest

Federal Way, perched just south of Seattle, offers some of the most dynamic weather patterns in the Pacific Northwest. With its proximity to the Puget Sound shoreline—just 5 miles to the west—and stunning views of Mount Rainier less than 30 miles southeast, homes here need more than just “a roof.”

They need protection. Durability. And yes, it is a style that holds up under scrutiny.

Tim’s neighbors were fooled from 20 feet away. They thought his roof was composite. But it was metal—Interlock metal. A blend of engineered strength and crafted beauty, perfectly suited to this region where rain is regular, moss is invasive, and salt air can eat traditional roofing alive.

Why Tim Chose Interlock—Twice

Tim’s first Interlock roof was installed in 2003. More than two decades later, it still looked “almost like new.” That’s not a coincidence—that’s engineering.

When did he move home in 2009? He didn’t hesitate. He installed another Interlock roof.

Here’s why that choice made sense—then, and now:

  • Lifetime Warranty – Install once. Sleep easy.
  • 4-Way Interlocking Design – Holds strong against PNW wind and storm surges.
  • Low-Maintenance – Resists algae, moss, rust, and rot.
  • Energy Efficient – Keeps interiors cooler in summer and warmer in winter.
  • Solar-Ready – Designed for tomorrow’s technology.
  • Stellar Installation Service – Tim says it’s the detail, clarity, and care.
  • Return on Investment – His first home sold over asking during a recession. The roof helped close the deal.

A Federal Way Story, A Universal Truth

This city—rich with parks like Dash Point State Park, rooted in community pride, and home to thousands of homeowners balancing budget, longevity, and looks—represents more than just a dot on the map. It’s a place where smart decisions matter.

And Tim made a smart decision. Twice.

He didn’t just buy a roof. He invested in peace of mind, a legacy of resilience, and curb appeal that fools the eye and delights the wallet. With Interlock, you can trust that your home is protected, come rain or shine.

The Last Roof You’ll Ever Need

Tim isn’t guessing anymore. He’s lived with it, sold with it, and reinvested in it. With Interlock, you’re not just buying a roof; you’re investing in a reliable, long-lasting solution for your home.

His neighbors? They are still replacing theirs.

This isn’t about the cheapest option. It’s about the right one. Because in a place like Federal Way, where nature is gorgeous and relentless, the roof above you shouldn’t be a question mark.

When it comes to the unique challenges of the Pacific Northwest, the answer is clear: Interlock. It’s not just a roof, it’s a solution designed specifically for your home in this beautiful, but demanding, region.

7 Years Later, Still Thrilled – Port Orchard’s 5-Star Metal Roof Story

A Coastal Home Reimagined in Port Orchard

Nestled near the shores of Puget Sound in Port Orchard, Washington, a once-ordinary home has become a neighborhood standout. Surrounded by tall evergreens and salt-kissed breezes, this house on Greenbriar Place received a Deep Charcoal Interlock® Cedar Shingle Metal Roof that instantly elevated its curb appeal. The rich charcoal tone beautifully complements the home’s brick and sage-green facade, offering a bold yet classic Northwest look. Neighbors who stroll by can’t help but slow down and admire – the roof looks as fresh and striking today as it did on day one, nearly seven years ago.

That single sentence says it all. Seven years of Pacific Northwest weather have passed, and this homeowner’s excitement hasn’t faded one bit. This isn’t just a new roof – it’s a new chapter for the home, where worries about moss, leaks, or loose shingles are a distant memory.

Built for Port Orchard’s Weather Challenge

Port Orchard’s coastal climate can be merciless on a roof. The area sees over 45 inches of rain a year – heavier than the U.S. average – and winter storms whip up strong gusts from the Sound. Traditional roofs often struggle here: wood can rot or mold, asphalt shingles can loosen in high winds, and salt air can trigger metal corrosion. But the Interlock metal cedar shingles were engineered with these exact challenges in mind:

  • Rain & Moisture: The 4-way interlocking design creates a weather-tight shield that laughs off heavy downpours. Each shingle locks tightly on all four sides, forming a continuous barrier that prevents wind-driven rain from seeping in. No more drip-drip leaks or water worries – even during Port Orchard’s drenching November rainstorms. And unlike real cedar or asphalt, these aluminum shingles won’t absorb water, so there’s no mold, mildew, or moss taking root on the roof. The result? A dry, clean roof year-round, with no green moss carpet that so many northwest homes battle. 🌧️
  • Salt Air Resistance: Living near Puget Sound means gentle salt breezes that can quietly wreak havoc on ordinary roofs. Thankfully, this heavy-gauge aluminum roofing laughs off rust. Aluminum naturally doesn’t rust because it contains almost no iron. Each shingle is also coated with the durable Alunar® coating, providing a tough armor against the elements. Corrosion and salt spray are non-issues – a huge relief for homes so close to the coast. This roof looks as pristine as day one, with no chalking or fade, despite years of sun and sea air.
  • Wind & Storms: When Pacific storms roll in, bringing gusts that rattle windows, this roof stays steady and silent. Interlock roofs are independently tested to withstand winds up to 120 mph – that’s equivalent to a Category 2 hurricane. In real terms, it means even during fierce windstorms, no shingles will peel off. The secret is in the installation: each panel locks into the next and is securely fastened, so the roof stands as one solid shield. For the homeowner, that means sleeping soundly through wind howls, confident the roof will hold tight.
  • Snow & Ice: Snow is rare in Port Orchard’s lowlands, but when a surprise snow does fall, this roof is ready. The smooth metal surface and interlocking panels let snow slide right off before it piles up . No more climbing up to shovel the roof, and no fear of ice dams. Plus, the Class A fire rating offers peace of mind during those dry summer spells – the roof won’t ignite from windblown embers. It’s safety and assurance, built into the very design.

In short, this deep charcoal metal roof was built for the Puget Sound climate. It thrives on rainy winters, shrugs off salty mist, and stands strong against blustery winds. Where other roofs would start showing patches of moss or wear, this one remains crisp, clean, and virtually maintenance-free, season after season.

Curb Appeal Meets Practicality

Beyond brute weather defense, the transformation in appearance has been stunning. The Interlock cedar shingles deliver the charm of rustic cedar shakes but with a modern twist. Each aluminum shingle features an authentic heavy cedar grain texture, so the roof retains that cozy Pacific Northwest character – without ever fading, rotting, or warping. The Deep Charcoal color was a savvy choice: it provides an elegant contrast to the home’s light siding and brick accents, framing the structure like a picture. Even on cloudy days, the roof’s subtle satin sheen catches the light, giving the home a refined silhouette against the evergreen backdrop.

Homeowners in the region often worry a metal roof might look “too industrial,” but this cedar-shingle profile lays that concern to rest. It looks right at home in the neighborhood, blending classic style with a fresh upgrade. In fact, many passersby don’t realize it’s metal at first glance – they just see a gorgeous roof. This curb appeal isn’t just skin-deep; it’s boosting the home’s value too. A beautiful, permanent roof is an asset in real estate terms, and it’s solar-panel ready to boot. Should the homeowner ever decide to add solar panels (a wise move under the Port Orchard sunbreaks), the metal shingles underneath won’t need replacement or special prep. The roof’s design can accommodate solar mounts easily, combining renewable energy with a lifetime roof – a forward-thinking pairing for both wallet and planet.

And let’s not forget the everyday practical perks that come with all this style:

  • Energy Efficiency: That Alunar® coating and the roof’s reflective properties help bounce off summer heat, keeping the home cooler when the sun does shine. Many Interlock homeowners report lower attic temperatures and easier cooling in summer. In winter, the attic stays drier and better ventilated, which can improve insulation performance. It’s a comfort upgrade you feel inside, not just see outside. ☀️💨
  • Quiet Comfort: Concerned about noise from rain? This Port Orchard homeowner was pleased to discover the rainfall sound is a gentle patter, not a drumming racket. The shingles, along with the proper underlay and attic insulation, dull the sound of rain so effectively that “noisy metal roof” is a myth put to rest. You’ll hear the storm’s wind long before you hear any ping on this roof. 🤫🌧️
  • No Moss, No Mess: The textured yet non-porous surface means debris doesn’t stick. Pine needles and leaves that would cling to a rough asphalt shingle simply slide off or blow away. The roof stays cleaner and streak-free, which means less time on a ladder for the homeowner. In a region where moss can turn roofs green, this charcoal roof stays a handsome charcoal gray, year after year.

Never Re-Roof Again.

Perhaps the greatest benefit of this Interlock roof is the peace of mind that comes from knowing it’s the last roof this home will ever need. Every Interlock metal roofing system is backed by a Lifetime Limited Warranty, which is even 50-year transferable to a new owner . That’s a serious commitment to quality. For the current homeowner, it means decades of no-cost protection ahead. No more patching leaks in 10 years, no more crumbling shingles to replace – ever. And if they ever sell the house, the warranty’s value carries over, a strong selling point in the real estate market.

This kind of longevity isn’t a lucky bonus; it’s by design. The aluminum shingles are built to stay rust-free and strong for a lifetime, and the company has been installing roofs in the Pacific Northwest for over two decades, honing a product perfect for local conditions. The 4-way interlock system not only stops leaks but also means each shingle reinforces the next, creating a roof that can last 50+ years easily. While standard roofs might need two, even three replacements in that span, this roof will just keep shining on. As the company slogan says, it’s “Never Re-Roof Again.” ✅

After nearly 7 years of living under Deep Charcoal metal shingles, the Port Orchard homeowner wholeheartedly agrees. The 5-star review she shared is a testament to that lifetime value: no regrets, no headaches – just confidence and satisfaction.

There were a few complications due to the existing roof but the Interlock team worked with me to resolve those issues

Anacortes, Washington

5/5

I installed a new metal Interlock roof on my home in Anacortes. A big part of the cost was removing the existing concrete tiles from my roof which are a challenge. From the beginning working with sales, Paul and Ross was a pleasure…very responsive and professional. The installation crew and project managers, Tony and Patrick were terrific to work with. There were a few complications due to the existing roof but the Interlock team worked with me to resolve those issues. The crew were punctual and the installation proceeded on schedule. The cleanup was immaculate. My main goal was NOT to see any further leaking in my lifetime and hopefully that will be achieved. The roof looks great. If you are in the market for a metal roof, I would certainly recommend Interlock.

Everyone in our neighborhood who have seen it also is impressed

5/5

In March of 2016, we contracted with Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems to replace the cedar shingles on our roof. After a couple of dates were scheduled and changed, the job was finally completed on June 22, 2016.

The work crew was very good – showed up as scheduled and the work was completed in 2 days. That is, old shingles removed and new Interlock system installed.

We are very pleased with the finished look of our roof and have had no problems with it. Everyone in our neighborhood who have seen it also is impressed with the product. We would definitely refer anyone we know to your company if they are looking for a new roof.

Sincerely,
Larry and Arletha K.
