Dear Inter Lock Roofing: Subject: roof installation I would like to express my recommendation for your installers, Mike and Nedjo. It was a pleasure to work with these gentlemen; when it is time to do these other roofs on our place I want them back, and not hesitate to pass their names to others. They were both very professional and had some difficult weather conditions to work with.

Review: May 13, 2026 Completion: May 30, 2008

After a relentless 12+ hour windstorm, our 18-year-old roof needed a repair. When I called to book it, that's when I learned the previous owner and my senior parents hadn't transferred the warranty when the house was bought 13 years ago. Despite that, the owners came out the very same day and honored it! The repair itself was simple — just two screws — but high up on the roof with a sloped ground below, making it tricky and time-consuming. First time in 18 years our roof has needed work, and their honesty, professionalism, and prompt service were incredible. Highly recommend this company!

I'm not sure I'd recommend them to a friend because I think they're not for everyone. They're very expensive and we were told when we first bought our roof over ten years ago, it would be weather-resistant and it wasn't. I'm still kind of sitting on the fence on that. They could've improved on cleaning up and also coordinating things with our solar panels, as well. There was a misunderstanding between them and the solar company and I don't know where the miscommunication happened.

I found the representative that I originally spoke with and who provided the estimate to be very professional and prompt with answering follow up questions. The installers were also responsive to questions while the roof was being replaced. Appreciated how neat they left the yard at the end of each day while the work was progressing. Overall the process was fairly seamless and I am very happy with the final results.

They assured us upfront that they held themselves to the highest standards—both in workmanship and in health and safety—and they delivered on every promise. When the team arrived on site, every worker was focused, diligent, and clearly well-trained in safety protocols. It was incredibly reassuring to see a company not only take pride in their work, but also prioritize the well-being of their crew in what is undeniably a dangerous trade. The final product was absolutely superb—flawless installation, meticulous attention to detail, and no shortcuts taken. The project was completed on time, with a thorough final review and sign-off process that left us fully confident in the longevity and performance of our new roof. Many of our neighbors complimented us on how our home is looking now:) We’re proud to have worked with a Canadian company that upholds such exceptional standards. InterLock Roofing stands out not just for the unmatched quality of their work, but also for their ethical approach and genuine care for both customers and employees. A super, super company—highly recommended!

I had to call the Calgary office twice to find out the date of installation of the roof. There was no communication at least as the customer once I signed the contract . This should be a seamless process from sales people to installers. You dont have a supervisor to come on site as other roofing companies in calgary do. There were a myriad of problems during the installation I complained but had no return calls from the installers . I believe the person in charge was Dave Thomson. He never called me back to review issues. The roof looks very nice. However for 52,000. I think someone could have returned my calls. Everything

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Priddis

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Priddis, Alberta. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Priddis.

How does a metal roof handle Priddis's 113 cm of annual snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Metal roofs shed snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt because aluminum's smooth, hard surface prevents ice from bonding. Priddis experiences about 126 freeze-thaw days per year, which causes asphalt shingles to crack and curl; Interlock's four-way interlocking panels expand and contract uniformly without splitting. The lightweight design—Slate at just 0.41 lb/sq ft—means no structural reinforcement is needed even under heavy snow loads. Optional snow guards keep snow from sliding where it shouldn't. The self-healing oxide layer on 3105-H24 aluminum ensures durability through decades of temperature swings.

Are metal roofing panels secure in Priddis's wind gusts up to 98 km/h?

Yes. Interlock panels are warranted to resist winds up to 120 mph (193 km/h), well above Priddis's typical gust speeds of 98 km/h. The four-way interlocking design creates a unified, aerodynamic surface that resists uplift from multiple angles; each panel locks to its neighbors, not just to fasteners. This is proven under ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation for IBC/IRC compliance. The system's proven track record includes installations from coastal salt-air regions to Antarctica, where wind and freeze-thaw conditions far exceed Metro Calgary's climate. You get predictable, warranted protection even during spring windstorms.

Why does Priddis's freeze-thaw weather favor metal over asphalt shingles?

Freeze-thaw cycles—Priddis experiences roughly 126 per year—expand and contract roofing materials constantly. Asphalt becomes brittle in cold, cracks when it thaws, and loses flexibility over 15–20 years. Aluminum, by contrast, has excellent fatigue resistance; it flexes uniformly and does not develop stress fractures. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, meaning it maintains its protective seal through countless temperature swings. Because aluminum cannot rust and its oxide layer self-heals when scratched, the material simply becomes more stable with age—not weaker.

Do aluminum metal roofs rust in Priddis's wet, snowy climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron; it forms a protective, self-healing oxide layer instead. Steel roofing requires paint maintenance and eventually rusts through, especially in variable climates. Priddis receives about 359 mm of rain annually plus 113 cm of snow melt—consistent moisture that accelerates steel corrosion. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) with Alunar fluorocarbon finish applied to both sides, adding a 30-year warranty against coating failure. Even if the coating is scratched, the underlying aluminum simply re-oxidizes and protects itself. This is why Interlock panels have been installed since 1998 in harsh salt-air and freeze-thaw environments worldwide.

Will hail damage void my metal roof warranty, or can I claim insurance?

Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 rating often qualifies homeowners for insurance premium discounts because the roof resists damage that would puncture asphalt or wood. If hail does occur, the aluminum's non-combustible, high-impact design means repair is straightforward: replace the damaged panel(s) rather than replacing the entire roof. The lifetime limited warranty covers impact resistance for the original owner. Document any hail event and contact your insurer; many offer discounts for Class 4-rated roofs, offsetting your metal roof's initial cost.

How much does a metal roof cost versus asphalt over 30, 50, or 75 years?

Metal roofing costs more upfront but becomes the last roof you'll buy. Asphalt lasts 15–25 years and requires disposal (landfill cost included); over 50 years you'll replace it twice or thrice, plus remove and haul old shingles. Interlock's lifetime limited warranty and transferable 50-year term mean one installation covers multiple owners and decades of Priddis weather—126 freeze-thaw days, 113 cm snow, 98 km/h gusts. Current promotion: interest-free payments for 3 months and at least $2,499 savings on installation. Calculate total cost including asphalt replacement cycles, labor, disposal, and roof-off downtime. Metal's upfront premium typically breaks even within 20–30 years and saves money thereafter.

Will my home's structure need reinforcement to support a metal roof?

No. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—and even the heavier Shake is just 0.58 lb/sq ft. Most homes can install metal roofing directly over an existing asphalt roof without structural changes. The lightweight design means you avoid the cost and disruption of reinforcement that tile, stone, or heavy slate would require. This is especially valuable in Priddis, where snow loads of 113 cm annually already stress older structures; metal sheds that load faster than heavy materials absorb it. ICC-ES ESR-1790 confirms installation compatibility with standard residential framing. Your installer will assess your specific roof, but reinforcement is rarely necessary.

Do energy-efficiency metal roofs reduce cooling costs in Calgary's sunny climate?

Yes, if you choose an energy-efficient color. Interlock offers colors with thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55, rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council. These colors reflect heat that dark asphalt absorbs, lowering attic and interior temperatures—meaningful over Priddis's 3,303 annual sunshine hours. Summer cooling is reduced; winter solar gain can offset heating costs. energy-efficiency certification confirms these properties meet rigorous testing (not marketing claims). Aluminum's high reflectivity is permanent; asphalt darkens and loses reflectance within a few years. The 30-year coating warranty ensures your roof maintains its reflective performance through decades of UV exposure.

What does the Guardian lifetime warranty actually cover, and how long is it valid?

The Guardian is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original homeowner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—essentially all material failures. It transfers once, giving the next owner 50 years from completion. Non-prorated means you're covered equally in year 1 and year 30; there's no declining percentage. This reflects Interlock's confidence: panels installed since 1998 are still performing in harsh climates worldwide. The coating is separately warranted 30 years against chalking and fading per ASTM standards. Combined with Priddis's 126 freeze-thaw cycles per year, this warranty gives you certainty that material failure won't happen—and if it does, it's covered.

Can you install a metal roof over my existing asphalt shingles, or must they be removed?

Installation over existing asphalt is often possible because metal panels are extraordinarily lightweight—Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft adds negligible load. Your installer will assess your current roof's condition, decking, and local code; if it's sound and structurally adequate, overlay installation saves you removal costs and landfill fees. The process is faster than tear-off, reducing labor time and site disruption. Interlock's four-way interlocking design ensures panels lock uniformly regardless of the substrate. Installation typically takes days, not weeks. The local installer, Interlock Metal Roofing (Alberta) Ltd., has served this region since 1999 and can advise whether overlay or tear-off is best for your home's specific condition and Priddis building codes.
