Review: February 13, 2022 Completion: January 17, 2022

I thought the fellas who did the job were very accommodating, and I enjoyed them being around. I have nothing but good things to say about the workers and the job they did. Everything was done as it was supposed to be. I was overall satisfied.

Review: July 12, 2021 Completion: June 18, 2021

They were extremely good at keeping the place clean and tidy. They cleaned up well. It was fabulous. The communication could be improved. I am still waiting for my lifetime guarantee. They cashed the check, and I still have not received it. The office staff needs to up their game. I have not called them, but I asked them directly for that when the job was completed. They said it would be given to me within 10 days of the check clearing. We agreed on a price and what was to be done, and the salesman was constantly trying to increase the price by thousands of dollars. There were some slight issues with the building and we agreed on ways to resolve that and for what price. I did not like that they kept trying to upsell me. The installers and the job were well done. The salesman put me off of recommending them to anyone else. It is a great product.

Review: October 25, 2019 Completion: August 26, 2019

Probably 4. We just had some problems afterward with the financing that went through--there was some kind of breach with our information. Our husband was informed about that, and we weren't happy about it. They informed us that weren't going to have to watch in case somebody got our personal information. I don't know how they could improve; It was all good. Do they ever come back to check the roof for us, or do we check it ourselves? Nobody's come back after they were done. The one person who came originally said he wanted to come back and take pictures for advertisements. I don't know if he ever did; he can if he wants to. It looks good. It looks nice. It gets a lot of people commenting on it.

I feel they could have improved by taking their sign out of the yard when they were done. It is a nice sign and I called them and they said they would pick it up, but they haven't.

Review: June 30, 2016

Presentation took a very long time on the durability/warranty, and the price was very glossed over. I was hoping for 1.5 to 2x the price of asphalt, and was told to expect 3+x the asphalt price. I was already aware of the specs from researching before requesting a quote, finding out the actual price was more important for me. I would have appreciated some more info/examples of how the product responds in our climate. Was told of someone who has had it for 10 years and their energy bills, but would be nice to see pictures after 10 years in Alberta, or stories of how the roof behaves in our typical weather.

They could have given more communication about start dates and delivery dates.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Strathmore

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Strathmore, Alberta. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Strathmore.

Will a metal roof handle Alberta's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—aluminum actually thrives through freeze-thaw stress. Strathmore experiences about 116 freeze-thaw days per year, and unlike asphalt (which cracks and curls) or wood (which splits), aluminum expands and contracts elastically without permanent damage. The 3105-H24 aluminum alloy is engineered for this cycling. The four-way interlocking panels and coating system remain intact through decades of temperature swings, even as you see 95 cm of snow and 330 mm of rain annually.

How does metal roofing perform under Strathmore's snow load?

Metal roofs shed snow efficiently and resist ice-dam formation because the smooth surface and metal's thermal conductivity prevent the melt-refreeze cycle that traps water under asphalt shingles. Strathmore averages about 95 cm of snow yearly; that weight sits safely on the roof without requiring structural reinforcement, thanks to aluminum's extraordinary lightness. Optional snow guards can be installed if you prefer to manage snow release gradually. The interlocking design ensures no water penetrates even as snow moves.

Can a metal roof withstand Strathmore's wind gusts?

Absolutely. Strathmore's typical wind gusts reach 93 km/h, and Interlock metal roofing is warranted to resist 120 mph (193 km/h) winds when installed to specification. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels lock together so tightly that wind cannot lift or separate them. This engineering detail—combined with proper fastening—has kept roofs secure from coastal storms to mountain passes since 1998. You're covered well beyond what local weather demands.

Why doesn't aluminum rust like steel roofing does?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Instead, it develops a thin, invisible oxide layer that self-heals when scratched—a property steel roofing lacks entirely. Strathmore's 330 mm annual rainfall and freeze-thaw cycling (116 days per year) pose no corrosion risk to aluminum. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating, applied to both sides and warranted 30 years against fading, adds another shield. This is why Interlock aluminum roofs perform equally in salt air and inland cold climates.

Does metal roofing get damaged by hail, and will my insurance notice?

Interlock metal roofing carries the UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Alberta's hail season is real, but aluminum's hardness and elasticity absorb impacts that would crack asphalt or clay tile. Many insurers recognize this durability and offer premium reductions. Talk to your agent about the impact rating and 30-year coating warranty; documentation often qualifies you for a discount.

Will a metal roof lower cooling costs in summer?

energy-efficiency-certified colors reflect rather than absorb solar heat, reducing the load on your air conditioning. Interlock's Aged Copper Penny and other rated finishes achieve solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, meaning they bounce heat away while releasing absorbed warmth. Though Strathmore averages 3,346 sunshine hours yearly, the cooling benefit compounds across hot spells. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating confirms the science. Over a 50-year lifespan, this efficiency advantage adds up considerably compared to asphalt.

What does the Interlock metal roof warranty actually cover?

The Guardian is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for you as the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's transferable once, giving the next owner 50 years from roof completion. This means if you sell your Strathmore home, the new owner inherits decades of protection. No other roofing material—asphalt, wood, or tile—offers this kind of owner-to-owner security and peace of mind.

How much maintenance does metal roofing really need?

Far less than asphalt, wood, or traditional tile. Aluminum doesn't rot, split, or curl; it doesn't need reshingles, patches, or moss treatment. Strathmore's 95 cm annual snowfall and 330 mm rain simply run off without degrading the roof. The Alunar coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, so repainting isn't necessary. Occasional gutter cleaning is all that's required. This low-maintenance reality translates to lower long-term costs and fewer contractor visits over the roof's life.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt?

Yes, when you measure the full lifespan cost. Asphalt lasts 15–20 years and requires tear-off and replacement, typically costing $8,000–$15,000 per cycle. A metal roof installs once, needs no replacement, and carries a lifetime warranty. Over 50 years, you avoid three asphalt tear-and-replace jobs. Current financing offers include interest-free payments for 3 months and savings of at least $2,499 on installation. The math favors metal decisively, especially when you factor in resale appeal and energy savings across Strathmore's 116 freeze-thaw days annually.

Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Strathmore, and how long have they been here?

Interlock Metal Roofing (Alberta) Ltd. has served the region since 1999—longer than most local contractors. They know Strathmore's climate intimately: the 93 km/h wind gusts, the about 120 cm of annual snow, and the 116 freeze-thaw days that demand proper installation. The company manufactures in Delta, BC, and their Alberta team brings factory-trained expertise to every roof. Whether you choose Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Mediterranean Tile, or Standing Seam profiles, local installation means faster timelines, warranty confidence, and a contractor who stands behind your roof.
