Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Creekside, British Columbia
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
That's exactly the point, if the work is not done according to the specifications, what are we doing. Better communication, better training. Much much better training. If this is not treated as a confidential document, well I don't have to elicit the consequences. Todd and I need to work with these two crews and get this contract back on track. There is nothing else I would like to add, just communicate, in writing I guess now. Our Engineer has asked to a copy of the the warranties. Nothing to date,
Start to finish a perfect choice. Highly recommended.Efficiency of the installation, exceptional.Daily clean up around my property, unbelievable.Fantastic look and beautiful finish I could not ask for more and with a life time warranty I don't need to.
Thank you so much for all your efforts in installing our new Interlock Roof. You and your team were professional and courteous going over and beyond the scope of work expected. We and our neighbours were thoroughly impressed with how neat and tidy you were at containing the excess debris and at the same time being cautious of the landscaping. The final product looks fantastic. It was a pleasure dealing with the entire Interlock Industries team from the beginning sales process right through to the final installation. Thank you for making this difficult process so easy.
Interlock Roofing could improve on better communication for scheduling, I had to keep making the phone calls, and better follow-up from the sales representative, and site safety and cleanup could be improved. I also found cigarette butts on my property. I would also like more information on the materials used. I was concerned that they had no onsite port-a-potty, and it was an awfully long work day to not use my facility. I would have been more than happy to let them use my facilities.
I only answered the questions that I personally dealt with. I was away during 90% of the work. We previously ignored your survey due to the fact that although the roof itself is wonderful the clean up was not satisfactory and we are not complainers. My daughters truck and my car have both had screws imbedded in our tires. (On the cobblestone driveway) I have picked up many screws with the little round things on them that make them stick up when laying on the ground. There was also a bit of roofing left behind, small pieces of snipped metal that is dangerous to children and animals when stepped on in grass and on gravel. Maybe a metal detector might be useful at the end of a job? We are thoroughly satisfied with the roof itself, not happy about our tires though.
I have already raved to my friends about Interlock Roofing. And so many people have come and commented on how great the job was done, and in such a timely manner. I don't have any comments about this, since start to finish it was a top notch operation.
No Thee are so many, the staff is an issue, the installers. The other problem with our roof due to style, was it required long sheets and they are harder to install so it was more limit on installers to draw from. We had up to six crews within the six months it took to finish. The worst experience I have ever had doing a renovation, and I have done many, on many homes. I was going to report to BBB, and I still will I just have not had the time. I reached out to owner and never heard from them. Todd the organizer reached out to me, frustrated due to the lack of workers.
None. Really, it was fine. I thought it was a tad long between order and completion, and delivery of materials and completion, but the crew was tidally professional and courteous and effective.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Creekside
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Creekside, British Columbia. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Creekside.
How does a metal roof handle Creekside's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?
Aluminum's smooth surface and four-way interlocking design shed snow efficiently before dangerous ice dams form. Creekside experiences about 522 cm of snow annually and roughly 56 freeze-thaw days per year—conditions that crack wood shingles and shorten asphalt life. Interlock panels resist this cycling; the aluminum alloy (3105-H24) won't split, curl, or deteriorate as wood and asphalt do. Add optional snow guards if you prefer controlled release, and you eliminate the most common roof failure cause in freeze-thaw climates.
Why won't my metal roof rust like steel does?
Interlock uses aluminum alloy, not steel—aluminum contains no iron and therefore cannot rust. When the aluminum surface is scratched, the oxide layer self-heals automatically. This matters in Creekside's marine-influenced climate, where sea-to-sky regions experience salt-air exposure. The Alunar® 70% PVDF coating (applied to both sides) adds a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading. Steel roofs rely on protective paint that eventually fails; aluminum is chemically protected at its core.
Can I install a metal tile roof over my existing shingles without reinforcing the structure?
Yes. The Interlock Mediterranean Tile profile weighs about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so no structural upgrades are needed. Most homes can accept the load without modification. This is a genuine advantage in older Creekside homes where roof framing may not support traditional tile's weight. You save on expensive structural work and landfill costs from tearing off old asphalt. The ICC-ES evaluation (ESR-1790) confirms installation over existing roofs.
Will my metal roof stay attached during Creekside's wind gusts?
Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h). Creekside's typical gusts reach about 122 km/h, well within that protection. Each panel locks to its neighbors on all four sides, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than relying on fasteners alone. The UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating (the highest available) confirms the system's structural integrity. High wind performance is built into the design, not added afterward.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost over asphalt in the long run?
A metal roof is the last roof you buy. Interlock carries a lifetime limited warranty for the original owner (50 years transferable for the next owner), while asphalt typically lasts 15–20 years and ends in a landfill. Over 50 years, you replace asphalt 2–3 times, paying removal, disposal, and reinstallation costs each time. Creekside's 56 annual freeze-thaw cycles and 412 mm of rain accelerate asphalt's breakdown. The current promotion offers interest-free payments for 3 months and saves at least $2499 on installation—removing the affordability barrier.
What exactly does the Guardian Warranty cover?
The Guardian Warranty is a non-prorated lifetime limited material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It transfers once to the next owner, who receives 50 years of protection from completion. Asphalt roofs come with 10–20 year warranties that decline each year. No other roofing material offers lifetime protection without prorating. This warranty exists because aluminum's fundamental properties—no iron to rust, no wood to rot—make these failures physically impossible.
How much maintenance does a metal roof really need?
Interlock requires minimal maintenance: occasional gutter cleaning and a rinse if debris accumulates. No painting, no sealing, no inspection for rot or splits. Asphalt requires annual inspections for curling and granule loss; wood shakes demand regular treatment to resist mold and insects; tile cracks and needs repointing. Creekside's 3174 sunshine hours annually and freeze-thaw cycling age these materials fast, necessitating costly upkeep. Aluminum's Alunar® coating (warranted 30 years) keeps the roof looking new while you focus on living in your home, not maintaining it.
Does a metal roof actually reduce cooling costs?
Yes. Interlock offers energy-efficient colors with thermal emissivity up to 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny). These coatings reflect heat that dark asphalt absorbs and retains. Creekside's 3174 annual sunshine hours mean consistent solar exposure; a reflective roof meaningfully reduces air conditioning demand during warmer months. The Cool Roof Rating Council certification confirms independent testing. Darker asphalt heats to 60°C+ in sun; reflective metal stays significantly cooler, lowering peak cooling load and utility bills over time.
Is aluminum roofing actually better for the environment?
Aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable and breaks the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle entirely. When your Interlock roof's 50-year life ends, the panels return to the recycling stream indefinitely. Asphalt shingles—billions of pounds annually—end in landfills. Creekside's 412 mm of annual rainfall and 522 cm of snow accelerate asphalt degradation, shortening replacement cycles and multiplying landfill waste. CALGreen verifies Interlock's reduced maintenance and material benefits. Choosing aluminum means you're not funding the landfill infrastructure—you're investing in a material that circles back.
Who installs Interlock metal roofs in Creekside?
Interlock Metal Roofing (BC) Ltd. serves Creekside and the Sea-to-Sky region and has been operating since 1983. The company manufactures Interlock panels in Delta, BC, and has installed them from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station—meaning they understand marine climates and extreme conditions intimately. Choosing a local, experienced installer ensures your roof is installed to spec (critical for the 120 mph wind warranty and ice-dam prevention) and that service is minutes away, not hours. The current promotion—interest-free payments for 3 months plus at least $2499 savings—is available now.
Is a metal roof a good choice for Creekside’s climate?
Yes. Creekside averages about 522 cm of snow, 412 mm of rain, roughly 56 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 122 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
