Review: January 28, 2010 Completion: November 22, 2009

This letter has been a long time in coming. My husband and I had an Interlock Roof installed in November 2009 and have been meaning to tell you how pleased we are with the look of the new roof and the service provided by the installers ~ Nazaar and Vitality. We’ve gotten many questions and compliments from friends, neighbors and passersby. Both our home and detached garage needed to be re-roofed, with both requiring removal of the old roofing material and the installation of plywood before applying the Interlock product. We were originally told that it would take up to 2 weeks for the job to be completed. To our amazement, the job was completed within a week’s time and that included inclement weather! Nazaar and Vitaliy put in very long days, were very polite, honored their commitments and ALWAYS cleaned everything up before they left for the day. We have children and a dog and found not one nail in the yard after the job was completed. Based on this experience and a product that speaks for itself, we would definitely recommend an Interlock Roof!

Dear Interlock, I have had your roof for 3 years now. My wife and I have noticed that our house is warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. It also has increased the value of my house. Noticed a decease in heating bills too.

Review: May 3, 2006 Completion: April 21, 2006

Dear Interlock: I am writing to tell you how delighted I am with my new Interlock roof. The dark red color complements the historic features of this 1870 house, and the material is most appropriate for a house of this vintage. I also want you to know how pleased I am with the job that the installer did. The foreman. Rick Ortiz, and his workers, Wilden Perez, Juan Carlos Cordero, and Ruben Alvarenda, were a pleasure to work with. I didn't realize until I watched them work how complicated my roof is, with all its intersecting dormers, porches, hidden valleys and bay windows. They worked very skillfully and carefully to waterproof all these vulnerable edges, and did an excellent job. They were especially neat, cleaning up each day and overall at the end. Thank you Interlock for a great job!

Review: April 17, 2006 Completion: October 27, 2005

I had my roof done by Interlock Roofing and I want to say that it is very good. The snow does not stay on the roof. This winter I look at other homes in my neighborhood and found that my roof was the first to be free of snow! I am happy about that. Many people have asked about roof They like the way it looks, so they stop to see what kind it is. All I can say is "It Works for Me!"

My husband and I would like to commend you, your organization, and the workers hired to install our new roof. We are not only delighted with how it has enhanced the look of our property, but also how it has helped with our heating costs this winter. Everything you told us at the time of the sale has come true: It certainly has enhanced the look of our property - we get people stopping to look and question almost every day, It was completed on time by workers who were not only fast, but quite meticulous with the work they performed. We will be receiving a $5OO check within two weeks to reward us for keeping an Interlock sign on our property which promoted the sale of another roof to a neighbor. Your continuous contact during and after to ensure our satisfaction. Again, Thanks

Review: November 15, 2024 Completion: November 19, 2024

It was a pleasure working with Interlock from beginning to end. The back office was good about setting expectations for job start and duration, delivery of materials (which happened on time) and work to be performed. They were also good about making adjustments to work with trim that needed to be replaced, etc. The crew that did the install and cleanup was very professional and hard working. I am extremely satisfied with the end result and would definitely recommend Interlock! This is actually my second roof, I had one installed on a different property 20 years ago and it has held the test of time with virtually no maintenance.

Review: July 31, 2005 Completion: July 29, 2005

I am writing to share how pleased I am with my Interlock Roof. When the original presentation was made, I knew I was getting a premium roof, but I had no idea the finished product would be so beautiful. I was also quite impressed with the installers. They were pleasant, respectful, conscientious, and courteous. As you may recall, my ">roof was one that required the old roof be removed because the original roof was wood shakes which were covered by at least 3 layers of asphalt. Those men gave 110% each and every day of the 14 days it took them to remove the original roof, replace it with plywood, and then install the Interlock roof. Many of those days were very " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot and humid, but that didn't seem to have any effect on them. They would work from early in the morning until after 6 or 7 PM, always cleaning the yard before they left for the day. It amazed me that they were so thorough in their cleanup each day that I could have used my yard for entertaining in the evening. I would encourage anyone with questions about whether Interlock delivers what they promise to contact me directly. I would be more than happy to answer questions by phone or in person, if someone wants to schedule a time to come by the house. Interlock stood by their commitment to insure I was satisfied with the work and end product. Choosing Interlock was a decision I'm glad I made. Thanks again!

Review: January 3, 2003 Completion: September 30, 2005

I just wanted to take a moment to commend Interlock on a great product and thank you personally for your follow through after installation. I am pleased with the roof overall because it's good looking and works well. I get compliments about the new roof frequently. The description you provided of what to expect from beginning to end and what was delivered was consistent. This is such a simple thing to do but a surprising number of companies simply don't execute on their promises so I was pleased with the end result Interlock provided. The crew that removed my old roof and installed the new one was courteous and professional. They did a good job of cleaning up the job site each day and obviously take pride in their work. The only thing I would say was a drawback is that I had filled out the customer satisfaction survey before the dumpster was removed from my front yard. After the dumpster was removed I discovered two long indentations on my front lawn over a foot deep caused by the weight of the fully loaded dumpster. When I called you about it, you said you would correct it and now it has been corrected. This sort of customer service is what really separates companies that are in it for the long haul. I appreciate your follow up and the fact that you were able to correct the only item where I was not completely satisfied. I recommend Interlock to anyone considering a roof replacement based on the merits of the product alone. I had done a good amount of research in Consumer Reports on the longevity of different roof types as you know so there was no question in my mind that I wanted a metal roof but I didn't know how nice the end result would turn out. Your product combined with outstanding customer service is an unmatched offering. Consider me a reference for other potential customers curious about the experience they had with Interlock

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in South Glastonbury

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in South Glastonbury, Connecticut. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in South Glastonbury.

Will a metal roof handle Connecticut's freeze-thaw cycles without cracking or degrading?

Aluminum expands and contracts with temperature swings, but its alloy composition (3105-H24 / 3003-H24 per ASTM B209) and four-way interlocking design absorb this movement without cracking, splitting, or curling. South Glastonbury experiences roughly 83 freeze-thaw days annually, which is exactly the kind of cycling that degrades asphalt and wood shake roofs. Because aluminum has no grain structure and no moisture absorption, it simply cycles through cold (mean 11°C) and thaw without the internal stress that splits traditional materials. The Alunar® 70% PVDF coating, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, protects the surface through every temperature swing.

How does a metal roof handle South Glastonbury's snow and ice buildup?

The smooth, low-friction surface of metal roofing helps snow shed naturally, reducing the weight load your structure bears during the region's average 71 cm of annual snowfall. Unlike asphalt, which absorbs moisture and becomes heavy when wet, aluminum stays lightweight and dry. When paired with proper attic ventilation and optional snow guards, metal roofing resists ice dam formation because the panel surface doesn't retain the heat pockets that melt and refreeze snow at the eaves. The four-way interlocking seams remain watertight under freeze-thaw stress, unlike shingles that curl and separate in repeated freeze cycles. This design has proven reliable in coastal Canadian climates with comparable snow loads since 1998.

With over 1200 mm of annual rain in Connecticut, will metal roofing leak?

The four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered to shed water downward, with each panel overlapping its neighbors on all sides—no exposed fasteners, no nail holes, no seams where water can pool. South Glastonbury receives approximately 1249 mm of rain per year, and this interlocking design has weathered that volume continuously since installations began in the region in 1999. When installed to specification over a solid deck with underlayment, the system performs identically to asphalt in water shedding, but without the deterioration asphalt experiences under UV exposure. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 confirms compliance with IBC/IRC water-management requirements, and the Guardian Warranty covers leak-through for the original owner's lifetime.

Can metal roofing withstand Hartford County wind gusts?

Yes—the interlocking panel design is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph, well beyond the region's historical gust patterns (typical extremes around 135 km/h or 84 mph). South Glastonbury's mean daily-max winds hover at about 18 km/h, so even severe weather falls comfortably within the system's rated capacity. The four-way interlock means each panel is mechanically fastened to its neighbors and the substrate, creating a unified system rather than individual shingles that can lift and separate. This design has been field-tested from coastal salt-air installations to Antarctic research stations, proving its ability to hold firm under sustained pressure from multiple directions.

Why choose aluminum roofing over steel if I'm worried about rust?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes into rust. Instead, aluminum develops a thin, self-healing oxide layer (Al2O3) that protects the metal underneath; when the surface is scratched, the oxide reforms within hours, blocking corrosion from penetrating deeper. The Alunar® 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating, applied to both sides of every panel, adds an extra 30-year-warranted barrier against chalking and fading. This two-layer protection system (self-healing oxide plus premium topcoat) is especially valuable in regions with freeze-thaw stress and heavy moisture like South Glastonbury, where asphalt and steel roofing degrade rapidly. Your roof simply will not rust, no matter how many rain cycles or freeze-thaw days occur.

Do I need to reinforce my house's frame for a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's lightest profile (the Shingle) installs at approximately 0.41 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so your home's existing framing supports the metal roof without modification. Most homes can even have the metal roof installed directly over an existing asphalt roof, eliminating the cost and waste of a tear-off. This weight advantage means you avoid the engineering fees, structural upgrades, and installation delays that come with slate, tile, or heavy standing-seam systems. The system installs over almost any existing roof because it imposes minimal additional load while providing superior durability through about 83 freeze-thaw cycles annually in your climate.

What maintenance does a metal roof need in Connecticut?

Interlock metal roofing requires virtually no routine maintenance beyond an occasional rinse or gentle leaf clearing, especially in a climate with 1249 mm annual rain that naturally keeps the surface clean. Unlike asphalt (which requires seal coating and shingle replacement), wood shake (which needs treatment against rot and split repair), or tile (which cracks and breaks), aluminum panels do not degrade, split, curl, or lose impact resistance. The Alunar® 70% PVDF coating, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, maintains its finish without refinishing. With about 3111 annual sunshine hours and roughly 18 km/h mean winds, your roof stays exposed to weather that would demand attention on other materials—but aluminum shrugs it off, saving you money and time decade after decade.

Will hail damage a metal roof, and can I get an insurance discount?

Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This exceptional hail performance often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts because the roof resists the impact damage that forces claims on asphalt and tile. In regions prone to severe weather (common in Hartford County during transition seasons), insurers recognize that aluminum roofing significantly reduces the likelihood of a covered loss. Combine the Class 4 rating with the 120 mph wind warranty, and you have a roof that stands up to the worst Connecticut weather without degrading. Check with your insurance agent about discount eligibility—many carriers reward this proven durability.

Does a metal roof help reduce cooling costs in summer?

energy-efficient colors reflect solar heat rather than absorbing it, with thermal emissivity up to 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 on lighter finishes like Aged Copper Penny. This reflective property cools your attic and reduces air-conditioning demand during South Glastonbury's warmer months (mean annual temperature 11°C, with summer peaks reaching into the 80s). Asphalt shingles absorb heat and re-radiate it into your home, whereas a Cool Roof Rating Council-rated metal finish bounces that energy back skyward. Over a 50-year roof life, the cumulative energy savings can offset a meaningful portion of the installation cost, especially if you combine the metal roof with proper attic ventilation and insulation. This payback compounds year after year without any maintenance effort.

What is the real lifespan of an Interlock metal roof, and what does the warranty cover?

The Guardian Warranty provides a non-prorated lifetime limited material warranty to the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance with zero degradation over decades. When you sell your home, the warranty transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion, adding significant appeal and value. Because aluminum cannot rust, the coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, and the four-way interlocking panels resist the freeze-thaw cycles (about 83 annually in your region) that destroy asphalt within 15–20 years, this roof realistically lasts 50+ years with normal maintenance. You are essentially buying your last roof, eliminating the cycle of tear-offs, landfill waste, and reinstallation costs that plague homeowners every two decades.
