Review: May 3, 2006 Completion: April 21, 2006

Dear Interlock: I am writing to tell you how delighted I am with my new Interlock roof. The dark red color complements the historic features of this 1870 house, and the material is most appropriate for a house of this vintage. I also want you to know how pleased I am with the job that the installer did. The foreman. Rick Ortiz, and his workers, Wilden Perez, Juan Carlos Cordero, and Ruben Alvarenda, were a pleasure to work with. I didn't realize until I watched them work how complicated my roof is, with all its intersecting dormers, porches, hidden valleys and bay windows. They worked very skillfully and carefully to waterproof all these vulnerable edges, and did an excellent job. They were especially neat, cleaning up each day and overall at the end. Thank you Interlock for a great job!

Review: April 17, 2006 Completion: October 27, 2005

I had my roof done by Interlock Roofing and I want to say that it is very good. The snow does not stay on the roof. This winter I look at other homes in my neighborhood and found that my roof was the first to be free of snow! I am happy about that. Many people have asked about roof They like the way it looks, so they stop to see what kind it is. All I can say is "It Works for Me!"

My husband and I would like to commend you, your organization, and the workers hired to install our new roof. We are not only delighted with how it has enhanced the look of our property, but also how it has helped with our heating costs this winter. Everything you told us at the time of the sale has come true: It certainly has enhanced the look of our property - we get people stopping to look and question almost every day, It was completed on time by workers who were not only fast, but quite meticulous with the work they performed. We will be receiving a $5OO check within two weeks to reward us for keeping an Interlock sign on our property which promoted the sale of another roof to a neighbor. Your continuous contact during and after to ensure our satisfaction. Again, Thanks

Dear Interlock, I have had your roof for 3 years now. My wife and I have noticed that our house is warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. It also has increased the value of my house. Noticed a decease in heating bills too.

Review: November 15, 2024 Completion: November 19, 2024

It was a pleasure working with Interlock from beginning to end. The back office was good about setting expectations for job start and duration, delivery of materials (which happened on time) and work to be performed. They were also good about making adjustments to work with trim that needed to be replaced, etc. The crew that did the install and cleanup was very professional and hard working. I am extremely satisfied with the end result and would definitely recommend Interlock! This is actually my second roof, I had one installed on a different property 20 years ago and it has held the test of time with virtually no maintenance.

Review: July 31, 2005 Completion: July 29, 2005

I am writing to share how pleased I am with my Interlock Roof. When the original presentation was made, I knew I was getting a premium roof, but I had no idea the finished product would be so beautiful. I was also quite impressed with the installers. They were pleasant, respectful, conscientious, and courteous. As you may recall, my ">roof was one that required the old roof be removed because the original roof was wood shakes which were covered by at least 3 layers of asphalt. Those men gave 110% each and every day of the 14 days it took them to remove the original roof, replace it with plywood, and then install the Interlock roof. Many of those days were very " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot and humid, but that didn't seem to have any effect on them. They would work from early in the morning until after 6 or 7 PM, always cleaning the yard before they left for the day. It amazed me that they were so thorough in their cleanup each day that I could have used my yard for entertaining in the evening. I would encourage anyone with questions about whether Interlock delivers what they promise to contact me directly. I would be more than happy to answer questions by phone or in person, if someone wants to schedule a time to come by the house. Interlock stood by their commitment to insure I was satisfied with the work and end product. Choosing Interlock was a decision I'm glad I made. Thanks again!

Review: January 3, 2003 Completion: September 30, 2005

I just wanted to take a moment to commend Interlock on a great product and thank you personally for your follow through after installation. I am pleased with the roof overall because it's good looking and works well. I get compliments about the new roof frequently. The description you provided of what to expect from beginning to end and what was delivered was consistent. This is such a simple thing to do but a surprising number of companies simply don't execute on their promises so I was pleased with the end result Interlock provided. The crew that removed my old roof and installed the new one was courteous and professional. They did a good job of cleaning up the job site each day and obviously take pride in their work. The only thing I would say was a drawback is that I had filled out the customer satisfaction survey before the dumpster was removed from my front yard. After the dumpster was removed I discovered two long indentations on my front lawn over a foot deep caused by the weight of the fully loaded dumpster. When I called you about it, you said you would correct it and now it has been corrected. This sort of customer service is what really separates companies that are in it for the long haul. I appreciate your follow up and the fact that you were able to correct the only item where I was not completely satisfied. I recommend Interlock to anyone considering a roof replacement based on the merits of the product alone. I had done a good amount of research in Consumer Reports on the longevity of different roof types as you know so there was no question in my mind that I wanted a metal roof but I didn't know how nice the end result would turn out. Your product combined with outstanding customer service is an unmatched offering. Consider me a reference for other potential customers curious about the experience they had with Interlock

This letter has been a long time in coming. My husband and I had an Interlock Roof installed in November 2009 and have been meaning to tell you how pleased we are with the look of the new roof and the service provided by the installers ~ Nazaar and Vitality. We’ve gotten many questions and compliments from friends, neighbors and passersby. Both our home and detached garage needed to be re-roofed, with both requiring removal of the old roofing material and the installation of plywood before applying the Interlock product. We were originally told that it would take up to 2 weeks for the job to be completed. To our amazement, the job was completed within a week’s time and that included inclement weather! Nazaar and Vitaliy put in very long days, were very polite, honored their commitments and ALWAYS cleaned everything up before they left for the day. We have children and a dog and found not one nail in the yard after the job was completed. Based on this experience and a product that speaks for itself, we would definitely recommend an Interlock Roof!

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in South Meadows

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in South Meadows, Connecticut. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in South Meadows.

Will a metal roof handle Connecticut's snow load and ice dams?

Yes—aluminum's smooth, slippery surface actually sheds snow better than asphalt. South Meadows receives about 71 cm of snow annually, and the four-way interlocking panels (ESR-1790 ICC-ES rated) are engineered to prevent ice dams by allowing air circulation under the panels. Snow doesn't grip metal like it does shingles, so you avoid the dangerous ice buildup that causes leaks. The lightweight design—about 0.41 lb/sq ft for the Shingle profile—means no structural stress from accumulated snow, even after repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

How does aluminum hold up to freeze-thaw cycles?

Aluminum thrives in freeze-thaw conditions because it doesn't absorb water. Your area experiences roughly 83 freeze-thaw days yearly, which would cause wood shingles and asphalt to crack and curl. Aluminum panels expand and contract minimally across temperature swings; more importantly, if the oxide layer is ever scratched, it self-heals automatically—water can't penetrate to cause corrosion. The 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 alloy (ASTM B209) was chosen for exactly this reason: it's been installed successfully from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station.

Can aluminum roofing rust?

No. Aluminum contains no iron, so it cannot rust—period. Steel roofing can; aluminum never will. In South Meadows, with about 1249 mm of annual rainfall and coastal-influenced moisture patterns, this matters enormously. When aluminum is exposed to air, a protective oxide layer forms automatically and self-heals if scratched. The Alunar® 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (applied to both sides) adds another 30-year warranty against chalking and fading, so your roof stays protected through years of rain and humidity.

Can metal roofing survive Connecticut's wind gusts?

Absolutely. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph—far exceeding the gusts your region typically experiences (local gusts average around 135 km/h or 84 mph, with rare extremes higher). The four-way mechanical interlock means each panel is locked to its neighbors on all sides, not just nailed down. Combined with proper installation to spec, you get a roof that moves as one unified membrane rather than individual shingles catching wind like sails. This is why Interlock has successfully roofed homes in notorious wind zones for over 25 years.

Will my insurance company give me a discount for a metal roof after hail?

Many do, and Interlock's UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating (the highest available) gives you strong ground for that conversation. Class 4 roofing can withstand hailstones up to 1.5 inches, and the Guardian Warranty explicitly covers perforation from hail. Some Connecticut insurers recognize non-combustible, impact-resistant roofing with reduced maintenance as a lower-risk investment. Contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 certification and the 30-year coating warranty—underwriters often reward durability that outlasts the typical claim cycle.

Is metal roofing really cheaper than asphalt in the long run?

Over a 50-year horizon, aluminum metal roofing is typically less expensive than the cycle of asphalt replacements. Asphalt lasts 15–25 years and requires tear-off, hauling, and landfill fees each time; you'll replace it 2–3 times in 50 years. Interlock's lifetime limited warranty for the original owner (plus one-time transfer for 50 years to the next owner) means a single installation covers your ownership entirely. With the current promotion—no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation—the entry cost is manageable. The math becomes clearer when you factor in zero storm damage risk (Class 4 hail, 120 mph wind warranty) and no maintenance beyond occasional debris clearing.

What roofing styles does Interlock offer for South Meadows homes?

Five distinct profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile—each with authentic shadow and texture. Slate suits colonial and modern designs; Cedar Shingle and Shake suit farmhouse and cottage styles; Mediterranean Tile suits Spanish and contemporary estates; Standing Seam suits minimalist and industrial aesthetics. All profiles are four-way interlocking aluminum (ESR-1790 rated), so you choose based on your home's character, not structural capacity. The Tile profile, for example, weighs just 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete tile—so you get the architectural presence without reinforcement.

Can metal roofing be installed over my existing roof?

Yes, in most cases. The extraordinary lightweight aluminum—approximately 0.41 to 0.59 lb/sq ft depending on profile—means no structural reinforcement is needed, and Interlock can install over most existing asphalt or wood roofs. This saves the cost and landfill impact of tear-off; your old roof becomes underlayment and additional insulation. Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc., serving the region since 1999, will assess your current structure during a site visit to confirm feasibility. Installation typically takes 1–3 weeks depending on roof complexity and weather—important given South Meadows' roughly 3111 sunshine hours annually, so scheduling is flexible.

Will a metal roof keep my house cooler and lower my utility bills?

energy-efficient colors reflect significantly more solar heat than asphalt. Interlock's aged-copper finishes achieve solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, measured per Cool Roof Rating Council standards. With about 3111 sunshine hours annually in South Meadows, that reflectance reduces cooling demand during warmer months. Combined with the solid deck and underlayment installation (which also dampens noise), you're not just cooling your attic—you're reducing peak demand. The exact savings depend on your HVAC system and usage, but energy-efficiency certification means measurable performance, not marketing claims.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really need?

Virtually none. Unlike asphalt (which develops moss and requires regular cleaning), wood shingles (which split and curl), or tile (which cracks and needs resealing), aluminum doesn't degrade. You'll clear leaves and debris after fall, just as you would with any roof, but there are no missing shingles to replace, no rot to patch, and no periodic coatings to reapply. The 30-year Alunar® PVDF warranty protects color and adhesion against the roughly 1249 mm of rain South Meadows receives annually. The Guardian Warranty covers material defects (rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking) for life—an honest reflection of aluminum's durability.
