Review: May 3, 2006 Completion: April 21, 2006

Dear Interlock: I am writing to tell you how delighted I am with my new Interlock roof. The dark red color complements the historic features of this 1870 house, and the material is most appropriate for a house of this vintage. I also want you to know how pleased I am with the job that the installer did. The foreman. Rick Ortiz, and his workers, Wilden Perez, Juan Carlos Cordero, and Ruben Alvarenda, were a pleasure to work with. I didn't realize until I watched them work how complicated my roof is, with all its intersecting dormers, porches, hidden valleys and bay windows. They worked very skillfully and carefully to waterproof all these vulnerable edges, and did an excellent job. They were especially neat, cleaning up each day and overall at the end. Thank you Interlock for a great job!

Review: April 17, 2006 Completion: October 27, 2005

I had my roof done by Interlock Roofing and I want to say that it is very good. The snow does not stay on the roof. This winter I look at other homes in my neighborhood and found that my roof was the first to be free of snow! I am happy about that. Many people have asked about roof They like the way it looks, so they stop to see what kind it is. All I can say is "It Works for Me!"

My husband and I would like to commend you, your organization, and the workers hired to install our new roof. We are not only delighted with how it has enhanced the look of our property, but also how it has helped with our heating costs this winter. Everything you told us at the time of the sale has come true: It certainly has enhanced the look of our property - we get people stopping to look and question almost every day, It was completed on time by workers who were not only fast, but quite meticulous with the work they performed. We will be receiving a $5OO check within two weeks to reward us for keeping an Interlock sign on our property which promoted the sale of another roof to a neighbor. Your continuous contact during and after to ensure our satisfaction. Again, Thanks

Dear Interlock, I have had your roof for 3 years now. My wife and I have noticed that our house is warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. It also has increased the value of my house. Noticed a decease in heating bills too.

Review: November 15, 2024 Completion: November 19, 2024

It was a pleasure working with Interlock from beginning to end. The back office was good about setting expectations for job start and duration, delivery of materials (which happened on time) and work to be performed. They were also good about making adjustments to work with trim that needed to be replaced, etc. The crew that did the install and cleanup was very professional and hard working. I am extremely satisfied with the end result and would definitely recommend Interlock! This is actually my second roof, I had one installed on a different property 20 years ago and it has held the test of time with virtually no maintenance.

Review: July 31, 2005 Completion: July 29, 2005

I am writing to share how pleased I am with my Interlock Roof. When the original presentation was made, I knew I was getting a premium roof, but I had no idea the finished product would be so beautiful. I was also quite impressed with the installers. They were pleasant, respectful, conscientious, and courteous. As you may recall, my ">roof was one that required the old roof be removed because the original roof was wood shakes which were covered by at least 3 layers of asphalt. Those men gave 110% each and every day of the 14 days it took them to remove the original roof, replace it with plywood, and then install the Interlock roof. Many of those days were very " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot and humid, but that didn't seem to have any effect on them. They would work from early in the morning until after 6 or 7 PM, always cleaning the yard before they left for the day. It amazed me that they were so thorough in their cleanup each day that I could have used my yard for entertaining in the evening. I would encourage anyone with questions about whether Interlock delivers what they promise to contact me directly. I would be more than happy to answer questions by phone or in person, if someone wants to schedule a time to come by the house. Interlock stood by their commitment to insure I was satisfied with the work and end product. Choosing Interlock was a decision I'm glad I made. Thanks again!

Review: January 3, 2003 Completion: September 30, 2005

I just wanted to take a moment to commend Interlock on a great product and thank you personally for your follow through after installation. I am pleased with the roof overall because it's good looking and works well. I get compliments about the new roof frequently. The description you provided of what to expect from beginning to end and what was delivered was consistent. This is such a simple thing to do but a surprising number of companies simply don't execute on their promises so I was pleased with the end result Interlock provided. The crew that removed my old roof and installed the new one was courteous and professional. They did a good job of cleaning up the job site each day and obviously take pride in their work. The only thing I would say was a drawback is that I had filled out the customer satisfaction survey before the dumpster was removed from my front yard. After the dumpster was removed I discovered two long indentations on my front lawn over a foot deep caused by the weight of the fully loaded dumpster. When I called you about it, you said you would correct it and now it has been corrected. This sort of customer service is what really separates companies that are in it for the long haul. I appreciate your follow up and the fact that you were able to correct the only item where I was not completely satisfied. I recommend Interlock to anyone considering a roof replacement based on the merits of the product alone. I had done a good amount of research in Consumer Reports on the longevity of different roof types as you know so there was no question in my mind that I wanted a metal roof but I didn't know how nice the end result would turn out. Your product combined with outstanding customer service is an unmatched offering. Consider me a reference for other potential customers curious about the experience they had with Interlock

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Windsor

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Windsor, Connecticut. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Windsor.

How does a metal roof handle Windsor's heavy snow and ice buildup?

Metal roofs shed snow and ice more effectively than asphalt because the smooth, interlocking aluminum surface reduces adhesion—especially important given Windsor's average 77 cm of snow annually. The four-way interlocking panels and solid deck installation prevent ice dams by eliminating the thermal bridging that causes uneven melting. Snow guards are available if you want to control the slide, but the lightweight design (Shingle profile at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural reinforcement is needed even if snow temporarily accumulates. The aluminum's flexibility during freeze-thaw cycling—Windsor experiences about 92 such days per year—prevents the cracking and curling that plague asphalt shingles in cold climates.

Will a metal roof survive Windsor's freeze-thaw cycles without cracking or warping?

Yes; aluminum is inherently freeze-thaw resistant because it expands and contracts uniformly without the stress fracturing that destroys asphalt and brittle materials. With 92 annual freeze-thaw days and average temperatures around 10.7°C, your roof faces real cycling stress—but the 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) is engineered to flex without damage. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214 / D2244), so repeated temperature swings won't degrade the finish. Wood shingles crack, asphalt curls, and concrete tile splits; aluminum simply expands and contracts, making it the only roofing material that actually improves with time in harsh Connecticut winters.

Can an aluminum metal roof withstand Connecticut's wind gusts and storms?

The four-way interlocking panel design is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h), well above the typical gusts Windsor experiences (around 127 km/h peak). The interlocking edges mean each panel reinforces its neighbors rather than acting as individual units; wind lifts one panel only if it can lift all adjoining panels simultaneously, which is mechanically nearly impossible. This design earned ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790 (reissued 2025 for IBC/IRC compliance), meaning municipal inspectors and insurers recognize it as code-compliant for wind. With about 17 km/h average daily winds, you won't experience anything close to the warranty limits, so fastening failures and blow-offs—common with asphalt in storms—simply don't happen with Interlock.

Does a metal roof reduce hail damage risk, and will my insurer notice?

Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 means the panels withstand repeated steel-ball strikes that would shatter asphalt or tile. Many homeowners have seen insurance premium reductions after switching to Class 4 metal; some carriers offer explicit discounts. In Hartford County, severe hail is statistically infrequent, but when it does occur, metal roofing outperforms every competitor. Asphalt shingles dent and lose granules (leading to UV failure); tile cracks; metal simply absorbs the impact and continues working. It's worth asking your agent about a credit once the roof is installed—the documented impact rating makes the case simple.

Is my house strong enough for a metal roof, or do I need expensive reinforcement?

No reinforcement is needed for most homes. The Interlock Shingle profile weighs just 0.41 lb/sq ft, the Shake 0.58, and the Mediterranean Tile profile—which replicates heavy tile at a fraction of its weight—comes in at 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it about 96% lighter than actual concrete or clay tile. This means you can often install an Interlock roof over your existing roof without tearoff, saving time and disposal costs. Even structural engineers are surprised by how light these panels are when they hold one. The aluminum's strength-to-weight ratio lets it span without sagging, and the four-way interlocking system distributes loads evenly across the deck. If your home could support wood shakes or a traditional tile roof, it easily handles metal—and the design makes installation faster and cleaner.

Is a metal roof really worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Over the life of your home, metal is almost always cheaper. Asphalt lasts 15–20 years and requires replacement (with landfill disposal and re-installation labor), while Interlock carries a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—meaning no degradation, no leaks, no failures covered from day one. The Guardian Warranty is even transferable, giving the next owner 50 years from completion. That's one roof installation versus 2–3 asphalt replacements over 50 years. Factor in zero maintenance (no cleaning, no repairs), no algae or moss growth, and potential insurance discounts for the Class 4 hail rating, and the math shifts dramatically. Current financing offers—no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation—make the initial investment even more accessible. You're buying the last roof you'll ever install.

How much upkeep does a metal roof actually need?

Virtually none. Unlike asphalt shingles (which require moss removal, algae treatment, and frequent inspections), wood shakes (which split and rot), or tile (which cracks and needs regrouting), Interlock aluminum panels require no maintenance beyond occasional visual inspection. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating resists algae and moss growth, so Windsor's 1117 mm annual rainfall won't degrade the surface or encourage growth. There's no painting, sealing, or granule replacement needed. Wind and weather self-clean the roof, and the interlocking seams prevent debris from trapping moisture. This aligns with CALGreen verification for reduced maintenance, meaning your only real task is keeping gutters clear—something you'd do regardless. It's the roofing equivalent of buying a car with no oil changes required.

Can a metal roof actually lower my cooling costs in summer?

energy-efficient colors with Alunar coating achieve thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (measured with Aged Copper Penny finish), meaning the roof reflects heat rather than absorbing it the way dark asphalt does. Connecticut's about 3077 sunshine hours per year will hit your roof regularly, and that reflected energy translates directly to lower air-conditioning demand and utility bills. Cool Roof Rating Council certification confirms measurable cooling performance. This is especially valuable on south- and west-facing slopes. The metal itself conducts heat away from the attic faster than asphalt, reducing thermal buildup that forces your HVAC system to work harder. Over a 30+ year lifespan, energy savings can approach or exceed the initial investment, particularly if you're replacing a dark or aged asphalt roof.

Who installs Interlock roofing in Windsor, and how long have they been doing it?

Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. serves Windsor and the entire Hartford County region and has been installing Interlock panels since 1999—25+ years of local experience. They understand Connecticut's climate (freeze-thaw, heavy snow, coastal moisture patterns) and have built a track record with homeowners across the state. Because they work exclusively with Interlock's engineered system, they know exactly how to handle installations over existing roofs (critical given your home's existing structure) and how to spec snow guards, gutters, and flashing for local conditions. They can also discuss current financing—no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation—directly with you. Choosing a local, experienced installer means faster project completion, easier warranty service, and someone who understands your neighborhood's typical roofing challenges.

Is a metal roof actually better for the environment than asphalt?

Yes. Interlock aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable, and recycled aluminum requires only 5% of the energy needed to produce new aluminum, making end-of-life recycling genuinely valuable. More immediately, asphalt shingles end the tear-off-to-landfill cycle every 15–20 years; over a 50-year period, a home might send 2–3 asphalt roofs to the dump. An Interlock roof, by contrast, is installed once and lasts the homeowner's lifetime—often over 50 years—with no tearoff waste. The lightweight aluminum design also means fewer installation trucks and less fuel consumption during construction. And because the roof doesn't degrade, you avoid the maintenance cycle (chemical cleaners, moss treatments) that's common with asphalt and tile. When your home eventually changes hands, the transferable 50-year warranty means the next owner gets a roof that won't need replacement, eliminating another landfill event.
