Review: May 3, 2006 Completion: April 21, 2006

Dear Interlock: I am writing to tell you how delighted I am with my new Interlock roof. The dark red color complements the historic features of this 1870 house, and the material is most appropriate for a house of this vintage. I also want you to know how pleased I am with the job that the installer did. The foreman. Rick Ortiz, and his workers, Wilden Perez, Juan Carlos Cordero, and Ruben Alvarenda, were a pleasure to work with. I didn't realize until I watched them work how complicated my roof is, with all its intersecting dormers, porches, hidden valleys and bay windows. They worked very skillfully and carefully to waterproof all these vulnerable edges, and did an excellent job. They were especially neat, cleaning up each day and overall at the end. Thank you Interlock for a great job!

Review: April 17, 2006 Completion: October 27, 2005

I had my roof done by Interlock Roofing and I want to say that it is very good. The snow does not stay on the roof. This winter I look at other homes in my neighborhood and found that my roof was the first to be free of snow! I am happy about that. Many people have asked about roof They like the way it looks, so they stop to see what kind it is. All I can say is "It Works for Me!"

My husband and I would like to commend you, your organization, and the workers hired to install our new roof. We are not only delighted with how it has enhanced the look of our property, but also how it has helped with our heating costs this winter. Everything you told us at the time of the sale has come true: It certainly has enhanced the look of our property - we get people stopping to look and question almost every day, It was completed on time by workers who were not only fast, but quite meticulous with the work they performed. We will be receiving a $5OO check within two weeks to reward us for keeping an Interlock sign on our property which promoted the sale of another roof to a neighbor. Your continuous contact during and after to ensure our satisfaction. Again, Thanks

Review: November 15, 2024 Completion: November 19, 2024

It was a pleasure working with Interlock from beginning to end. The back office was good about setting expectations for job start and duration, delivery of materials (which happened on time) and work to be performed. They were also good about making adjustments to work with trim that needed to be replaced, etc. The crew that did the install and cleanup was very professional and hard working. I am extremely satisfied with the end result and would definitely recommend Interlock! This is actually my second roof, I had one installed on a different property 20 years ago and it has held the test of time with virtually no maintenance.

Review: July 31, 2005 Completion: July 29, 2005

I am writing to share how pleased I am with my Interlock Roof. When the original presentation was made, I knew I was getting a premium roof, but I had no idea the finished product would be so beautiful. I was also quite impressed with the installers. They were pleasant, respectful, conscientious, and courteous. As you may recall, my ">roof was one that required the old roof be removed because the original roof was wood shakes which were covered by at least 3 layers of asphalt. Those men gave 110% each and every day of the 14 days it took them to remove the original roof, replace it with plywood, and then install the Interlock roof. Many of those days were very " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot and humid, but that didn't seem to have any effect on them. They would work from early in the morning until after 6 or 7 PM, always cleaning the yard before they left for the day. It amazed me that they were so thorough in their cleanup each day that I could have used my yard for entertaining in the evening. I would encourage anyone with questions about whether Interlock delivers what they promise to contact me directly. I would be more than happy to answer questions by phone or in person, if someone wants to schedule a time to come by the house. Interlock stood by their commitment to insure I was satisfied with the work and end product. Choosing Interlock was a decision I'm glad I made. Thanks again!

Review: January 3, 2003 Completion: September 30, 2005

I just wanted to take a moment to commend Interlock on a great product and thank you personally for your follow through after installation. I am pleased with the roof overall because it's good looking and works well. I get compliments about the new roof frequently. The description you provided of what to expect from beginning to end and what was delivered was consistent. This is such a simple thing to do but a surprising number of companies simply don't execute on their promises so I was pleased with the end result Interlock provided. The crew that removed my old roof and installed the new one was courteous and professional. They did a good job of cleaning up the job site each day and obviously take pride in their work. The only thing I would say was a drawback is that I had filled out the customer satisfaction survey before the dumpster was removed from my front yard. After the dumpster was removed I discovered two long indentations on my front lawn over a foot deep caused by the weight of the fully loaded dumpster. When I called you about it, you said you would correct it and now it has been corrected. This sort of customer service is what really separates companies that are in it for the long haul. I appreciate your follow up and the fact that you were able to correct the only item where I was not completely satisfied. I recommend Interlock to anyone considering a roof replacement based on the merits of the product alone. I had done a good amount of research in Consumer Reports on the longevity of different roof types as you know so there was no question in my mind that I wanted a metal roof but I didn't know how nice the end result would turn out. Your product combined with outstanding customer service is an unmatched offering. Consider me a reference for other potential customers curious about the experience they had with Interlock

Dear Interlock, I have had your roof for 3 years now. My wife and I have noticed that our house is warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. It also has increased the value of my house. Noticed a decease in heating bills too.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Upper Albany

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Upper Albany, Connecticut. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Upper Albany.

Will a metal roof handle Connecticut's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—aluminum thrives in freeze-thaw environments because it expands and contracts uniformly without cracking or splintering. Upper Albany experiences about 92 freeze-thaw days per year, which degrades asphalt shingles and wood over time, but aluminum's crystalline structure absorbs that stress without material fatigue. The 3105-H24 alloy used in Interlock panels has been tested from Antarctic research stations to coastal salt air, meaning it has endured far more severe cycling than Connecticut's typical 10.7°C mean temperature. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating—warranted 30 years against chalking—protects the underlying metal from the corrosive salts that accelerate freeze-thaw damage in regional climates.

Can aluminum roofing rust in New England?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron; instead, it forms a self-healing oxide layer that protects the metal beneath. When scratched, that oxide regenerates automatically, which is why Interlock panels perform so well in the 1117 mm of annual rainfall Upper Albany receives. Steel roofing, by contrast, rusts visibly and requires paint maintenance. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating applied to both sides of each panel adds an extra barrier against the moisture and salt spray that accelerate corrosion in Northeast climates. This dual-layer protection—aluminum's natural oxide plus the 30-year-warranted fluorocarbon finish—means you're not fighting chemistry; you're working with it.

How does a metal roof handle Upper Albany's annual snowfall?

Metal roofs shed snow more readily than asphalt because the smooth, hard surface offers less friction; with about 77 cm of snow per year, this matters. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels lock together so tightly that snow melt cannot find seams to penetrate, and the lightweight design—Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft—means snow load is never a structural concern. Unlike asphalt, which absorbs heat unevenly and creates ice dams, metal's thermal properties allow consistent warming, reducing the freeze-thaw cycle that traps ice at the eaves. If you choose snow guards (a common addition in heavy-snow zones), they install cleanly on the panel ribs and direct snow away from entryways without compromising the roof's weathertightness.

Does Connecticut's wind gusts pose a problem for metal roofing?

Upper Albany's typical gusts reach 127 km/h, and Interlock metal roofing is engineered for exactly this environment—the panels are warranted to resist sustained wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The four-way interlocking design means each panel locks to its neighbors on all edges, creating a unified system that distributes wind stress across the entire roof rather than concentrating it at fasteners. This is why metal roofing survives nor'easters that loosen or tear asphalt shingles. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 confirms compliance with wind-load requirements in the IBC and IRC, so your installation meets current Connecticut building codes and will pass inspection.

Does heavy rainfall in Connecticut threaten a metal roof's integrity?

The four-way interlocking seams are the secret: with 1117 mm of rain per year in Upper Albany, water must find a way in, and these panels don't give it one. Each panel overlaps its neighbors on all sides, and the interlocking mechanism creates a labyrinth that sheds water downslope while resisting capillary action. Combine that with a solid deck and high-quality underlayment (installed as part of the process), and you have leak resistance that asphalt—which degrades at the seams—cannot match. The aluminum substrate never absorbs water, so even if water somehow bypassed the interlocks, it wouldn't weaken the roof structure. Interlock's lifetime limited warranty covers leakage, which reflects the manufacturer's confidence in this design.

Will hail damage void my roof warranty or affect my insurance?

Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This exceptional durability often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts because metal roofs reduce claims frequency compared to asphalt or wood shakes. The Class 4 rating means the panels have been tested to withstand repeated impacts of steel balls dropped from 20 feet, far exceeding the impact energy typical of Upper Albany hailstorms. Many insurance carriers recognize this and adjust premiums accordingly. Check with your agent, but the combination of non-combustibility, impact resistance, and a transferable 50-year warranty term makes metal roofing an attractive risk reduction for carriers.

Do I need to reinforce my roof frame for a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is needed because aluminum is extraordinarily light; the Mediterranean Tile profile, which replicates heavy clay or concrete tile, installs at only 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than the authentic material it mimics. Your existing roof structure, which was engineered to support asphalt shingles (typically 2-4 lb/sq ft), can carry aluminum panels with ease. This also means Interlock can install over your existing roof in most cases, eliminating the expense and landfill impact of tear-off removal. The ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790 confirms that Interlock panels meet code requirements without reinforcement, so your building permit and inspection process will be straightforward. This lightweight advantage is especially valuable if your home's framing is older.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really need?

Aluminum requires almost none—no annual inspections, no resealing, no replacing of degraded shingles or wood grain. Asphalt shingles lose their UV protection within 5-10 years and curl in freeze-thaw cycles; wood shakes split and rot; but the Alunar 70% PVDF coating (both sides, 30-year warranty) protects aluminum from the 77 cm of annual snow, 3077 sunshine hours, and 1117 mm of rain Upper Albany experiences. Debris (leaves, pine needles) slides off the smooth surface during rain. If you paint asphalt or wood shakes to extend their life, you'll spend thousands on labor and material over a 50-year period; with aluminum, that expense simply doesn't exist. The CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance burden, which also means lower total cost of ownership.

Is a metal roof really cheaper than asphalt over time?

The lifetime limited warranty for the original owner—non-prorated material—means if the roof fails in year 25, you're covered at full value with no deductible. Asphalt typically lasts 15-20 years and requires replacement; the cost of tear-off labor, landfill tipping fees, and new installation (repeated twice in 50 years) typically exceeds the upfront cost difference of metal. Add in energy savings: Interlock's energy-efficient colors reflect up to 0.55 initial solar reflectance (aged Copper Penny), meaning lower cooling loads during Upper Albany's 3077 sunshine hours annually. The one-time transferable warranty extends 50 years from completion, preserving resale value and sparing the next owner replacement costs. Current financing—no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation—makes the entry cost manageable.
