Review: January 28, 2010 Completion: November 22, 2009

This letter has been a long time in coming. My husband and I had an Interlock Roof installed in November 2009 and have been meaning to tell you how pleased we are with the look of the new roof and the service provided by the installers ~ Nazaar and Vitality. We’ve gotten many questions and compliments from friends, neighbors and passersby. Both our home and detached garage needed to be re-roofed, with both requiring removal of the old roofing material and the installation of plywood before applying the Interlock product. We were originally told that it would take up to 2 weeks for the job to be completed. To our amazement, the job was completed within a week’s time and that included inclement weather! Nazaar and Vitaliy put in very long days, were very polite, honored their commitments and ALWAYS cleaned everything up before they left for the day. We have children and a dog and found not one nail in the yard after the job was completed. Based on this experience and a product that speaks for itself, we would definitely recommend an Interlock Roof!

Jonathan was great help getting us all the information needed for the roof and what to expect, and the whole process. The installation was fast, the roofers were hard working and professional. The look of the metal roof is superb!

Review: November 15, 2024 Completion: November 19, 2024

It was a pleasure working with Interlock from beginning to end. The back office was good about setting expectations for job start and duration, delivery of materials (which happened on time) and work to be performed. They were also good about making adjustments to work with trim that needed to be replaced, etc. The crew that did the install and cleanup was very professional and hard working. I am extremely satisfied with the end result and would definitely recommend Interlock! This is actually my second roof, I had one installed on a different property 20 years ago and it has held the test of time with virtually no maintenance.

Review: July 31, 2005 Completion: July 29, 2005

I am writing to share how pleased I am with my Interlock Roof. When the original presentation was made, I knew I was getting a premium roof, but I had no idea the finished product would be so beautiful. I was also quite impressed with the installers. They were pleasant, respectful, conscientious, and courteous. As you may recall, my ">roof was one that required the old roof be removed because the original roof was wood shakes which were covered by at least 3 layers of asphalt. Those men gave 110% each and every day of the 14 days it took them to remove the original roof, replace it with plywood, and then install the Interlock roof. Many of those days were very " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot and humid, but that didn't seem to have any effect on them. They would work from early in the morning until after 6 or 7 PM, always cleaning the yard before they left for the day. It amazed me that they were so thorough in their cleanup each day that I could have used my yard for entertaining in the evening. I would encourage anyone with questions about whether Interlock delivers what they promise to contact me directly. I would be more than happy to answer questions by phone or in person, if someone wants to schedule a time to come by the house. Interlock stood by their commitment to insure I was satisfied with the work and end product. Choosing Interlock was a decision I'm glad I made. Thanks again!

Review: January 3, 2003 Completion: September 30, 2005

I just wanted to take a moment to commend Interlock on a great product and thank you personally for your follow through after installation. I am pleased with the roof overall because it's good looking and works well. I get compliments about the new roof frequently. The description you provided of what to expect from beginning to end and what was delivered was consistent. This is such a simple thing to do but a surprising number of companies simply don't execute on their promises so I was pleased with the end result Interlock provided. The crew that removed my old roof and installed the new one was courteous and professional. They did a good job of cleaning up the job site each day and obviously take pride in their work. The only thing I would say was a drawback is that I had filled out the customer satisfaction survey before the dumpster was removed from my front yard. After the dumpster was removed I discovered two long indentations on my front lawn over a foot deep caused by the weight of the fully loaded dumpster. When I called you about it, you said you would correct it and now it has been corrected. This sort of customer service is what really separates companies that are in it for the long haul. I appreciate your follow up and the fact that you were able to correct the only item where I was not completely satisfied. I recommend Interlock to anyone considering a roof replacement based on the merits of the product alone. I had done a good amount of research in Consumer Reports on the longevity of different roof types as you know so there was no question in my mind that I wanted a metal roof but I didn't know how nice the end result would turn out. Your product combined with outstanding customer service is an unmatched offering. Consider me a reference for other potential customers curious about the experience they had with Interlock

Review: May 3, 2006 Completion: April 21, 2006

Dear Interlock: I am writing to tell you how delighted I am with my new Interlock roof. The dark red color complements the historic features of this 1870 house, and the material is most appropriate for a house of this vintage. I also want you to know how pleased I am with the job that the installer did. The foreman. Rick Ortiz, and his workers, Wilden Perez, Juan Carlos Cordero, and Ruben Alvarenda, were a pleasure to work with. I didn't realize until I watched them work how complicated my roof is, with all its intersecting dormers, porches, hidden valleys and bay windows. They worked very skillfully and carefully to waterproof all these vulnerable edges, and did an excellent job. They were especially neat, cleaning up each day and overall at the end. Thank you Interlock for a great job!

I had my roof done by Interlock Roofing and I want to say that it is very good. The snow does not stay on the roof. This winter I look at other homes in my neighborhood and found that my roof was the first to be free of snow! I am happy about that. Many people have asked about roof They like the way it looks, so they stop to see what kind it is. All I can say is "It Works for Me!"

My husband and I would like to commend you, your organization, and the workers hired to install our new roof. We are not only delighted with how it has enhanced the look of our property, but also how it has helped with our heating costs this winter. Everything you told us at the time of the sale has come true: It certainly has enhanced the look of our property - we get people stopping to look and question almost every day, It was completed on time by workers who were not only fast, but quite meticulous with the work they performed. We will be receiving a $5OO check within two weeks to reward us for keeping an Interlock sign on our property which promoted the sale of another roof to a neighbor. Your continuous contact during and after to ensure our satisfaction. Again, Thanks

Dear Interlock, I have had your roof for 3 years now. My wife and I have noticed that our house is warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. It also has increased the value of my house. Noticed a decease in heating bills too.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Newington

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Newington, Connecticut. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Newington.

How does a metal roof handle Connecticut's heavy snow and ice?

Aluminum's smooth, hard surface sheds snow and ice far better than asphalt—critical in Newington, which averages about 71 cm of snow annually. The four-way interlocking panels create a unified, slope-favoring design that prevents ice dams from forming along seams. Snow guards are available if you want to control roof slides. Unlike asphalt, aluminum doesn't degrade from repeated freeze-thaw cycling; Newington experiences roughly 83 freeze-thaw days per year, yet aluminum's oxide layer remains stable year after year. The material won't cup, curl, or split under those conditions.

Why does freeze-thaw cycling in Connecticut damage asphalt but not aluminum?

Asphalt absorbs moisture and expands when it freezes, then contracts as it thaws—this repeating stress causes cracking and splits. Aluminum doesn't absorb water; its oxide layer forms a moisture barrier that self-heals when scratched. With roughly 83 freeze-thaw days annually in Newington and about 1249 mm of rain, asphalt degrades measurably, while aluminum roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy maintains its integrity. The Guardian warranty covers splitting and cracking for the original owner's lifetime, so you're protected against freeze-thaw damage that typically shortens asphalt life by 5–10 years.

Can a metal roof withstand Connecticut windstorms and coastal gusts?

Yes. Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification. Newington's typical gusts reach about 135 km/h (84 mph), well within design limits, and the four-way interlocking system distributes wind load across the entire roof rather than allowing panels to lift or separate. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 confirms compliance with IBC/IRC wind load requirements. Even extreme seasonal storms won't compromise the mechanical lock between panels, unlike asphalt shingles that can tear free or buckle in sustained gusts. This durability often qualifies you for homeowner's insurance discounts.

Does a metal roof get damaged by hail, and can it lower my insurance premium?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. The aluminum's hardness and profile geometry distribute hail impact without denting or cracking. Many insurers recognize this durability and offer premium reductions for Class 4-rated roofs because claims are rare. Contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 rating and ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790 to confirm local discounts. Over a 50-year roof life, those savings compound significantly compared to asphalt, which often requires replacement after hail damage.

Is a metal tile roof heavy enough to need structural reinforcement?

No. The Mediterranean Tile profile installs at only about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so no structural reinforcement is required. You can install it directly over most existing roofs, eliminating costly tear-off and rebuilding. Even the heavier Shake profile weighs just 0.58 lb/sq ft. Newington homes built with standard framing can support aluminum tile without modification. This lightweight advantage also simplifies installation, reducing labor cost and timeline. The ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790 confirms code compliance for direct application over existing asphalt or wood.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost versus asphalt over 30 or 50 years?

Metal costs 2–3 times more initially but outlasts asphalt by 40+ years. A typical asphalt roof costs about $8,000–12,000 and lasts 15–20 years; you'll replace it 2–3 times in 50 years. Metal costs $25,000–35,000 installed and lasts 50+ years with one non-prorated lifetime limited warranty covering the original owner and 50 years for the next owner. Add energy savings from energy-efficiency colors with 0.84 emissivity—you'll reduce cooling load in summer and heat loss in winter. Potential insurance discounts (hail, wind, fire) add another $300–600 annually. Over 50 years, total cost is lower and residual value is higher. Current financing: 0% interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation.

What exactly does the Guardian Warranty cover and for how long?

The Guardian is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—meaning you pay nothing for defects, no matter the age. It covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. The warranty is one-time transferable: the next owner receives 50 years of coverage from completion. Unlike prorated warranties that require higher payments over time, this covers full replacement cost for 50 years, then remains valid for the original owner indefinitely. The Alunar 70% PVDF finish itself carries a separate 30-year warranty against chalking and fading per ASTM standards. Combined, these protections mean your only costs are installation and routine maintenance (minimal: rinse twice yearly).

How long does installation take and can you install over my existing roof?

Installation typically takes 3–5 days for a standard residential roof, depending on complexity and crew size. Yes, you can install directly over most existing asphalt or wood roofs—no expensive tear-off. Interlock New England Inc. has served Connecticut since 1999 and will assess your deck condition first. If there's rot or structural damage, they'll address it before installation. The lightweight aluminum (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Tile, or Standing Seam profiles) poses no structural strain. You'll avoid landfill waste and the cost of removing and disposing of old roofing. The crew installs solid decking and underlayment underneath, creating a quiet roof identical in sound to asphalt—no drumming in rain.

Will a metal roof reduce my cooling and heating costs in Connecticut?

energy-efficient colors with 0.84 thermal emissivity and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny) reflect heat that asphalt absorbs, lowering summertime cooling load by 10–20% depending on color and shading. Newington receives about 3111 sunshine hours annually, so that reflectivity compounds over many months. In winter, the reflective surface doesn't trap heat, but the tight four-way interlocking panels and solid deck installation minimize air infiltration. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating confirms measured performance. Energy savings vary by color choice and your HVAC efficiency, but energy-efficiency homes typically see 5–10% annual utility reduction. Over 50 years, that's $5,000–10,000 in energy cost avoidance, making the upfront premium disappear.

Are aluminum metal roofs actually recyclable and better for the environment?

Yes. Aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable, and Interlock's end-of-life product enters the aluminum recycling stream indefinitely—never a landfill. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, are rarely recycled; most tear-offs go to waste facilities. Over a 50-year roof life, you avoid 2–3 asphalt tearoffs (roughly 4–6 tons of waste per home). Aluminum's lightweight also reduces shipping emissions. Interlock has manufactured roofing in Delta, BC since 1998, so supply chains are established across North America. The CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance needs, lowering your environmental footprint further. Choosing aluminum means your home's final roof won't contribute to landfill burden, and if you ever remove or replace it, the material retains value in recycling markets.
