> We had the pleasure of meeting Jonathan Brown at the Mohegan Sun Home Show and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to tell him how happy we are with our Interlock roof of ~20 years. We constantly receive compliments from people passing by on how beautiful it looks. Most of all, we appreciate the peace of mind it gives us—knowing we’ll never have to replace our roof, thanks to the lifetime warranty and guaranteed protection against leaks.

Review: November 15, 2024 Completion: November 19, 2024

It was a pleasure working with Interlock from beginning to end. The back office was good about setting expectations for job start and duration, delivery of materials (which happened on time) and work to be performed. They were also good about making adjustments to work with trim that needed to be replaced, etc. The crew that did the install and cleanup was very professional and hard working. I am extremely satisfied with the end result and would definitely recommend Interlock! This is actually my second roof, I had one installed on a different property 20 years ago and it has held the test of time with virtually no maintenance.

Salesman was very courteous and polite. Straight forward no hype or fluff. Company kept constant contact, took care of the required building permits. Had the dumpster and materials delivered on time and removed quickly. The crew was phenomenal, polite courteous. Explained everything, and was very conscientious about their work. If the the nail didn't go in the way he liked he pulled it and did it right. Nailing was all done by hand. Roof has been great since no issues and still looks great. Over all very pleased and well worth the money.

Couldn’t have chosen a better product, it’s been 2 years since installation and have absolutely no issues. The house is cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Speaking of winter it’s only a matter of hours after a snow storm that all the snow slides right off, no more ice dams and ice filled gutters. The installers were awesome had the entire roof done in a day and a half and cleaned up prior to leaving. We love our Interlock roof.

This letter has been a long time in coming. My husband and I had an Interlock Roof installed in November 2009 and have been meaning to tell you how pleased we are with the look of the new roof and the service provided by the installers ~ Nazaar and Vitality. We’ve gotten many questions and compliments from friends, neighbors and passersby. Both our home and detached garage needed to be re-roofed, with both requiring removal of the old roofing material and the installation of plywood before applying the Interlock product. We were originally told that it would take up to 2 weeks for the job to be completed. To our amazement, the job was completed within a week’s time and that included inclement weather! Nazaar and Vitaliy put in very long days, were very polite, honored their commitments and ALWAYS cleaned everything up before they left for the day. We have children and a dog and found not one nail in the yard after the job was completed. Based on this experience and a product that speaks for itself, we would definitely recommend an Interlock Roof!

I wish to thank " target="\_blank" rel="noopener">Interlock Industries, Inc. for a great roofing system. I'm 100% satisfied and it has a clean and beautiful look. It's great! It's wonderful to know the roof never need replacement again. I also wish to thank Bob Allen, Jerry and Paul McAllister for being so helpful in completing the work. I know this " target="\_blank" rel="noopener">roof system was right when we met Bob Allen the first time, he explained everything in detail. Everything he said was correct. The men who did the work were polite and respectiful, and were clean and neat in the work process. Thank you guys. I would recommend an Interlock Roof for every home, or any building and the long term ">cost is less than another roof system.

Sorry I didn’t get this to you sooner, but I just wanted to drop you a line on the excellent installation of my roof by Nazar and Sergei. They installed our roof in February and never let the harsh weather affect their attention to detail and their determination to do quality work. I was very fortunate to get these two Ukrainian gentlemen as my installers.

Review: August 25, 2007 Completion: April 27, 2007

I am writing to tell you how much my wife and I are satisfied with our new roof from Interlock Roofing. Our old asphalt shingles were showing the effects of time both aesthetically and functionally. Most noticeably was the water mark on the living room ceiling that just kept growing with each passing rain. We certainly weren't looking forward to buying a new roof, since we were still paying for our wedding six months before, but knew we had to do something soon. I mentioned to Dawn that I had heard metal roofs were becoming popular because of how long they last; but she was concerned our home would look like a fast food restaurant, a factory, or even worse a tin roof barn. She made it clear that a modern looking metal roof would ruin the look of our 1860s vintage home. I said I thought I had seen a couple of years ago a house that was done with what I thought the sign said was metal but looked like shingles instead of ridged sheets she pictured. The problem was I couldn't remember the name of the roofer – just that they had an orange sign. A friend of our mentioned there was a Home Show coming up in Worchester and we figured it would be fun to look around and dream about improvements we could make. As we walked the aisles, I saw your familiar orange sign and product display booth. I said to Dawn look at this! This looks really nice – it looks just like " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">slate! Wouldn't that look really great on our house! Two weeks later, you explained what made Interlock Roofing different from other materials and the lifetime " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty helped us feel confident in making what was for us a major purchase decision. Although an Interlock roof might cost more initially, we think it is well worth it knowing we will never have to buy another roof for this home again. Your company and crews are great! A representative called to let us know materials were being delivered and when they arrived they were neatly stored out of the way until the work began. A supervisor called to let us know when the work would begin, and except for two days of rain which delayed their start, the job was completed within the estimated three days. At the end of each day, they cleaned up after themselves and when the job was competed they raked up any pieces that may have been missed in the grass. The completed roof looks great and enhances the appearance of our home. We have had many people stop and compliment us on it and at least one had already installed an Interlock roof of their own. Should we ever move from this home in the future, one of the features we will look for is an Interlock roof or plan on upgrading to one in our new home as well.

Review: June 2, 2006 Completion: July 25, 2005

Just wanted to let you know that we are very satisfied with the aluminum interlocking roof which was installed in July of 2005. It was amazing to us how quickly and efficiently your men worked in removing our old asphalt layers of roof and installing the new one. Needless to say, we were very impressed with their work as well as our new roof! Unfortunately, during installation of the roof, damage was done to the interior ceiling of our dining room. Interlock did respond and the damaged area was repaired in a timely manner. Unfortunately our existing ceilings are plaster and the repaired area was done in wallboard which simply do not match. In order for this to be repaired properly, the entire ceiling has to be repainted with a light texture. Whatever you can do to help rectify the pending repair to the interior ceiling would be greatly appreciated. We look forward to speaking with you in the near future. Once again, thank you for offering us the opportunity to upgrade our home with an outstanding roof.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Southport

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Southport, Connecticut. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Southport.

Will a metal roof hold up through Connecticut winters with all the freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—aluminum is naturally immune to freeze-thaw damage because it contains no iron and cannot rust or rot, which are the two failure modes that crack and delaminate traditional roofing in freeze-thaw climates. Southport experiences about 66 freeze-thaw days per year, and the aluminum's self-healing oxide layer actually strengthens with exposure. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading under those exact conditions, and the four-way interlocking panels shed water before it can pool and refreeze under the shingles the way it does with asphalt.

How does a metal roof handle heavy snow loads and ice dams?

Interlock's panels are engineered for snow load per ICC-ES ESR-1790 and include optional snow guards; the smooth profile sheds accumulated snow faster than asphalt, reducing ice-dam formation at the eave. Southport averages about 63 cm of snow annually, and the light weight of the aluminum—especially the Shingle profile at 0.41 lb/sq ft—means your structure carries a fraction of the load that slate or concrete tile would impose. The interlocking seams are sealed and taped; water trapped by ice dams cannot migrate into the deck the way it can under traditional shingles.

Do metal roofs leak if gutters back up or rain comes sideways?

Interlock panels are four-way interlocked and installed over solid deck with underlayment, which stops water at the substrate—not at the shingle surface the way asphalt shingles work. Southport receives about 1251 mm of rain annually, and the overlapped panel geometry means each piece sheds to the one below it; no capillary path exists for water to climb backward. The panels are warranted against leaks under normal rainfall, and installers tape all seams. Over 25 years, this sealed approach prevents the gradual water infiltration that undermines asphalt roofs in climates with sustained wet seasons.

Can a metal roof survive Southport's winter and spring gust conditions?

Yes—Interlock panels are four-way interlocked and warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification. Southport's typical daily winds are about 18 km/h, but gusts can reach 135 km/h during nor'easters. The interlocking geometry means each panel is mechanically held by its neighbors; wind cannot get underneath and peel the roof away. Insurance companies recognize this: metal roofs reduce wind-related claims, and some carriers offer premium discounts. Over a 50-year roof life, your home will face dozens of significant wind events—this design handles them.

Does hail damage metal roofs, and will my homeowner's insurance care?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Connecticut hail is not a primary concern, but the Class 4 rating matters for your insurance profile: some carriers recognize the durability and offer lower premiums or faster claim resolution because metal roofs rarely require replacement after hail. Unlike asphalt shingles, which granule and fail under impact, aluminum's hardness and flexibility absorb the blow. The combination of documented impact resistance and a non-prorated lifetime warranty gives insurers confidence that claims won't exceed the policy benefit.

Why can't aluminum roofing rust like steel or copper roofing can?

Aluminum contains no iron, and iron is what oxidizes into rust; aluminum instead forms an oxide layer that is transparent, adherent, and self-healing when scratched. This is why Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy per ASTM B209 specification, and adds a Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating on both sides for extra protection in salt air and wet climates like Southport's. The coating is warranted 30 years. Even if the coating were to wear away entirely—which it won't in 30 years—the bare aluminum would continue to function without structural failure. Steel roofing requires constant vigilance; aluminum does not.

Can I install a metal roof over my existing roof, or do I need to reinforce the structure?

Most Interlock installations go over existing roofing with zero structural reinforcement required. The Slate profile weighs 0.41 lb/sq ft and the Mediterranean Tile just 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than genuine clay or concrete tile—so your 100-year-old framing can easily carry the retrofit. Compare that to slate shingles or concrete tile, which require engineered reinforcement and often cost $15,000–30,000 in structural work alone. Interlock panels install directly to your existing deck using fasteners; the underlayment and sealing tape handle the weather. This means a faster installation, lower labor cost, and no surprises.

What's the difference between Interlock's lifetime warranty and warranties on asphalt or other metal roofs?

The Guardian Warranty is a non-prorated lifetime limited warranty for the original owner—meaning if a defect appears at year 30 or year 50, you're covered at no cost. It transfers once to the next owner with a 50-year term from completion, which adds real resale appeal. Asphalt roofs typically carry prorated warranties that decline every year (you pay more out-of-pocket as time passes); most expire at 20–25 years. Interlock covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—the complete failure list. Because aluminum and the Alunar coating are proven over 25+ years in the field, Interlock can afford to back the product this way.

Are metal roofs actually more sustainable than asphalt shingles?

Yes—Interlock aluminum is about 95% recyclable at end of life, and because the panels last 50+ years instead of 20, you avoid the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle almost entirely. Southport's landfill receives thousands of tons of shingle waste annually from the region; a metal roof installed today will likely outlast three asphalt replacements. The aluminum alloy can be melted down and reused indefinitely without loss of properties. The Alunar coating is also inert after demolition. CALGreen and other green-building standards recognize the reduced maintenance, longer service life, and end-of-life recyclability as genuine environmental benefits.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost over the life of the house?

Yes—metal roofing costs more initially but delivers true economy over 50 years. Asphalt costs less upfront but requires replacement every 20 years; over a century of ownership, you'll replace asphalt four to five times at $8,000–15,000 per cycle, plus maintenance, repairs, and removal costs. Interlock's non-prorated warranty means no surprise failures and no out-of-pocket repairs. Add energy-efficiency reflectance (initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 on light colors, thermal emissivity 0.84), which reduces cooling load in summer and offsets part of the premium through lower utility bills. Many owners recoup the difference in years 25–35. The current promotion offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off, which accelerates the break-even.
