| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |

What our customers are saying:
Everybody was great to work with highly professional. Any underlying damage was all taken care of and we love the roof.
> We had the pleasure of meeting Jonathan Brown at the Mohegan Sun Home Show and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to tell him how happy we are with our Interlock roof of ~20 years. We constantly receive compliments from people passing by on how beautiful it looks. Most of all, we appreciate the peace of mind it gives us—knowing we’ll never have to replace our roof, thanks to the lifetime warranty and guaranteed protection against leaks.
Jonathan was great help getting us all the information needed for the roof and what to expect, and the whole process. The installation was fast, the roofers were hard working and professional. The look of the metal roof is superb!
It was a pleasure working with Interlock from beginning to end. The back office was good about setting expectations for job start and duration, delivery of materials (which happened on time) and work to be performed. They were also good about making adjustments to work with trim that needed to be replaced, etc. The crew that did the install and cleanup was very professional and hard working. I am extremely satisfied with the end result and would definitely recommend Interlock! This is actually my second roof, I had one installed on a different property 20 years ago and it has held the test of time with virtually no maintenance.
What a beautiful roof. We are so happy and now we have a forever roof. Thank you. Techs were great. Positive: Punctuality, Quality Services: Roof installation
Salesman was very courteous and polite. Straight forward no hype or fluff. Company kept constant contact, took care of the required building permits. Had the dumpster and materials delivered on time and removed quickly. The crew was phenomenal, polite courteous. Explained everything, and was very conscientious about their work. If the the nail didn't go in the way he liked he pulled it and did it right. Nailing was all done by hand. Roof has been great since no issues and still looks great. Over all very pleased and well worth the money.
Couldn’t have chosen a better product, it’s been 2 years since installation and have absolutely no issues. The house is cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Speaking of winter it’s only a matter of hours after a snow storm that all the snow slides right off, no more ice dams and ice filled gutters. The installers were awesome had the entire roof done in a day and a half and cleaned up prior to leaving. We love our Interlock roof.
This letter has been a long time in coming. My husband and I had an Interlock Roof installed in November 2009 and have been meaning to tell you how pleased we are with the look of the new roof and the service provided by the installers ~ Nazaar and Vitality. We’ve gotten many questions and compliments from friends, neighbors and passersby. Both our home and detached garage needed to be re-roofed, with both requiring removal of the old roofing material and the installation of plywood before applying the Interlock product. We were originally told that it would take up to 2 weeks for the job to be completed. To our amazement, the job was completed within a week’s time and that included inclement weather! Nazaar and Vitaliy put in very long days, were very polite, honored their commitments and ALWAYS cleaned everything up before they left for the day. We have children and a dog and found not one nail in the yard after the job was completed. Based on this experience and a product that speaks for itself, we would definitely recommend an Interlock Roof!
I wish to thank " target="\_blank" rel="noopener">Interlock Industries, Inc. for a great roofing system. I'm 100% satisfied and it has a clean and beautiful look. It's great! It's wonderful to know the roof never need replacement again. I also wish to thank Bob Allen, Jerry and Paul McAllister for being so helpful in completing the work. I know this " target="\_blank" rel="noopener">roof system was right when we met Bob Allen the first time, he explained everything in detail. Everything he said was correct. The men who did the work were polite and respectiful, and were clean and neat in the work process. Thank you guys. I would recommend an Interlock Roof for every home, or any building and the long term ">cost is less than another roof system.
Sorry I didn’t get this to you sooner, but I just wanted to drop you a line on the excellent installation of my roof by Nazar and Sergei. They installed our roof in February and never let the harsh weather affect their attention to detail and their determination to do quality work. I was very fortunate to get these two Ukrainian gentlemen as my installers.
I am writing to tell you how much my wife and I are satisfied with our new roof from Interlock Roofing. Our old asphalt shingles were showing the effects of time both aesthetically and functionally. Most noticeably was the water mark on the living room ceiling that just kept growing with each passing rain. We certainly weren't looking forward to buying a new roof, since we were still paying for our wedding six months before, but knew we had to do something soon. I mentioned to Dawn that I had heard metal roofs were becoming popular because of how long they last; but she was concerned our home would look like a fast food restaurant, a factory, or even worse a tin roof barn. She made it clear that a modern looking metal roof would ruin the look of our 1860s vintage home. I said I thought I had seen a couple of years ago a house that was done with what I thought the sign said was metal but looked like shingles instead of ridged sheets she pictured. The problem was I couldn't remember the name of the roofer – just that they had an orange sign. A friend of our mentioned there was a Home Show coming up in Worchester and we figured it would be fun to look around and dream about improvements we could make. As we walked the aisles, I saw your familiar orange sign and product display booth. I said to Dawn look at this! This looks really nice – it looks just like " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">slate! Wouldn't that look really great on our house! Two weeks later, you explained what made Interlock Roofing different from other materials and the lifetime " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty helped us feel confident in making what was for us a major purchase decision. Although an Interlock roof might cost more initially, we think it is well worth it knowing we will never have to buy another roof for this home again. Your company and crews are great! A representative called to let us know materials were being delivered and when they arrived they were neatly stored out of the way until the work began. A supervisor called to let us know when the work would begin, and except for two days of rain which delayed their start, the job was completed within the estimated three days. At the end of each day, they cleaned up after themselves and when the job was competed they raked up any pieces that may have been missed in the grass. The completed roof looks great and enhances the appearance of our home. We have had many people stop and compliment us on it and at least one had already installed an Interlock roof of their own. Should we ever move from this home in the future, one of the features we will look for is an Interlock roof or plan on upgrading to one in our new home as well.
Just wanted to let you know that we are very satisfied with the aluminum interlocking roof which was installed in July of 2005. It was amazing to us how quickly and efficiently your men worked in removing our old asphalt layers of roof and installing the new one. Needless to say, we were very impressed with their work as well as our new roof! Unfortunately, during installation of the roof, damage was done to the interior ceiling of our dining room. Interlock did respond and the damaged area was repaired in a timely manner. Unfortunately our existing ceilings are plaster and the repaired area was done in wallboard which simply do not match. In order for this to be repaired properly, the entire ceiling has to be repainted with a light texture. Whatever you can do to help rectify the pending repair to the interior ceiling would be greatly appreciated. We look forward to speaking with you in the near future. Once again, thank you for offering us the opportunity to upgrade our home with an outstanding roof.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Norwalk
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Norwalk, Connecticut. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Norwalk.
Will a metal roof hold up through Connecticut's freeze-thaw cycles?
Yes — aluminum's oxide layer actually strengthens under repeated freeze-thaw stress, unlike asphalt or wood that crack and curl. Norwalk experiences about 66 freeze-thaw days per year, which degrades conventional roofing materials over time. Interlock's roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) remains dimensionally stable through this cycling; the four-way interlocking panels accommodate thermal movement without splitting or loss of seal. This durability is why the same panels have been installed from coastal New England homes to Antarctic research stations.
Can aluminum roofing rust in Fairfield County's humid climate?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Instead, it forms a self-healing oxide layer that protects the metal beneath; if scratched, the oxide reforms automatically. Fairfield County receives about 1251 mm of rain yearly, creating ideal conditions for steel roofing to corrode — but this doesn't affect aluminum. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish, applied to both sides of every panel and warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, adds a second protective barrier. This is why Interlock panels have been deployed in salt-air coastal regions for over 25 years without rust failure.
How does metal roofing handle Norwalk's winter snow and ice buildup?
Metal's smooth, hard surface sheds snow and ice more readily than asphalt or wood, reducing ice-dam formation. Norwalk receives about 63 cm of snow annually plus 66 freeze-thaw days, which create ideal conditions for ice dams on conventional roofs. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered to expand and contract uniformly during these cycles without buckling or opening seams. Optional snow guards can be installed to manage snowmelt on steeper pitches. The lightweight design — the Slate profile weighs just 0.41 lb/sq ft — means even snow accumulation poses no structural risk, and the roof can be installed directly over your existing asphalt without reinforcement.
Are metal roofs safe in Connecticut's windstorms?
Interlock metal roofing is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification — well above Norwalk's typical gust speeds of 135 km/h (84 mph). The four-way interlocking panel design locks adjacent panels together mechanically, preventing uplift or separation during high winds. This locking system is verified in ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790, which governs compliance with the 2024 and 2025 IBC and IRC building codes. The combination of lightweight aluminum and mechanical interlock makes these roofs more resistant to wind failure than heavier materials like slate or concrete tile, which can separate at fastener points under stress.
Will a metal roof save money on homeowner's insurance after hail?
Possibly. Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating — the highest available — and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Some insurers offer discounts for Class 4-rated roofs because they reduce claim frequency. Contact your agent with the UL 2218 rating to explore available discounts. Fairfield County experiences significant hail pressure during severe storms. Unlike asphalt shingles, which dent and lose granules with each impact, or slate and tile, which crack and shatter, aluminum's material properties allow it to absorb impact without permanent deformation. This resilience can translate to fewer insurance claims over the roof's lifetime.
Can a metal roof reduce cooling costs in Connecticut?
energy-efficient Interlock colors achieve solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, reducing cooling loads compared to standard asphalt. Norwalk averages about 3115 sunshine hours yearly — enough to make reflective coatings meaningful year-round. Cool Roof Rating Council certification confirms these surfaces reflect the solar heat that dark asphalt absorbs, lowering attic and indoor temperatures. Combined with the Alunar 70% PVDF finish that maintains reflectance for 30 years without chalking, a metal roof can reduce summer cooling costs, particularly on south and west-facing exposures. Energy savings compound over decades, making this a long-term investment in efficiency.
What's the real lifespan of a metal roof in Connecticut?
Interlock metal roofing carries The Guardian Warranty — a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. This warranty is one-time transferable, providing the next homeowner 50 years of coverage from completion. In practice, these roofs outlast multiple generations of asphalt shingles, which typically need replacement every 15–20 years. Norwalk's 66 annual freeze-thaw cycles and 1251 mm of rain would severely stress asphalt over time, but aluminum's dimensional stability and the Alunar coating's 30-year fade guarantee mean minimal degradation. This is the last roof most homeowners will install.
How long does installation take and can it go over my existing roof?
Installation typically takes 3–7 days depending on roof size and complexity. One major advantage of Interlock's lightweight aluminum is that it installs directly over your existing asphalt shingles in most cases — no tearoff, no landfill waste, no structural reinforcement required. The profiles range from 0.41 lb/sq ft (Slate) to 0.59 lb/sq ft (Tile), about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Your local installer, Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc., has served the region since 1999 and can assess whether overlay installation is suitable for your home. This approach reduces labor costs, eliminates debris, and speeds project completion — particularly valuable for Norwalk homeowners seeking minimal disruption.
Is metal roofing better for the environment than asphalt shingles?
Yes, substantially. Interlock aluminum roofing is approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, versus asphalt shingles, which are torn off every 15–20 years and sent to landfills. Over 50 years, a Norwalk home with conventional shingles generates three or more tons of roofing waste; metal roofing generates none. Interlock panels are manufactured in Delta, BC, using established aluminum-recycling infrastructure. The lightweight design also reduces installation waste — many roofs install over existing shingles rather than requiring demolition. Additionally, Interlock metals are CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance, meaning fewer chemical cleanings and treatments enter the environment over the roof's life. This closed-loop approach aligns with Connecticut's sustainability goals.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt?
Over the roof's life, metal roofing is almost always more cost-effective than asphalt despite higher initial expense. Asphalt shingles cost less upfront but require replacement every 15–20 years; metal lasts 50+ years under The Guardian Warranty. A homeowner who buys now and stays 30 years will avoid one or two complete asphalt replacements, plus the labor, removal, and landfill costs. Metal also reduces maintenance — no algae treatment, no missing shingle repairs — and may lower insurance premiums due to Class 4 impact and fire ratings. Current promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. This financing makes the upfront cost manageable while you benefit from decades of durability. For most Norwalk homeowners, it's the last roof you'll buy.
