> We had the pleasure of meeting Jonathan Brown at the Mohegan Sun Home Show and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to tell him how happy we are with our Interlock roof of ~20 years. We constantly receive compliments from people passing by on how beautiful it looks. Most of all, we appreciate the peace of mind it gives us—knowing we’ll never have to replace our roof, thanks to the lifetime warranty and guaranteed protection against leaks.

Review: November 15, 2024 Completion: November 19, 2024

It was a pleasure working with Interlock from beginning to end. The back office was good about setting expectations for job start and duration, delivery of materials (which happened on time) and work to be performed. They were also good about making adjustments to work with trim that needed to be replaced, etc. The crew that did the install and cleanup was very professional and hard working. I am extremely satisfied with the end result and would definitely recommend Interlock! This is actually my second roof, I had one installed on a different property 20 years ago and it has held the test of time with virtually no maintenance.

Salesman was very courteous and polite. Straight forward no hype or fluff. Company kept constant contact, took care of the required building permits. Had the dumpster and materials delivered on time and removed quickly. The crew was phenomenal, polite courteous. Explained everything, and was very conscientious about their work. If the the nail didn't go in the way he liked he pulled it and did it right. Nailing was all done by hand. Roof has been great since no issues and still looks great. Over all very pleased and well worth the money.

Couldn’t have chosen a better product, it’s been 2 years since installation and have absolutely no issues. The house is cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Speaking of winter it’s only a matter of hours after a snow storm that all the snow slides right off, no more ice dams and ice filled gutters. The installers were awesome had the entire roof done in a day and a half and cleaned up prior to leaving. We love our Interlock roof.

This letter has been a long time in coming. My husband and I had an Interlock Roof installed in November 2009 and have been meaning to tell you how pleased we are with the look of the new roof and the service provided by the installers ~ Nazaar and Vitality. We’ve gotten many questions and compliments from friends, neighbors and passersby. Both our home and detached garage needed to be re-roofed, with both requiring removal of the old roofing material and the installation of plywood before applying the Interlock product. We were originally told that it would take up to 2 weeks for the job to be completed. To our amazement, the job was completed within a week’s time and that included inclement weather! Nazaar and Vitaliy put in very long days, were very polite, honored their commitments and ALWAYS cleaned everything up before they left for the day. We have children and a dog and found not one nail in the yard after the job was completed. Based on this experience and a product that speaks for itself, we would definitely recommend an Interlock Roof!

I wish to thank " target="\_blank" rel="noopener">Interlock Industries, Inc. for a great roofing system. I'm 100% satisfied and it has a clean and beautiful look. It's great! It's wonderful to know the roof never need replacement again. I also wish to thank Bob Allen, Jerry and Paul McAllister for being so helpful in completing the work. I know this " target="\_blank" rel="noopener">roof system was right when we met Bob Allen the first time, he explained everything in detail. Everything he said was correct. The men who did the work were polite and respectiful, and were clean and neat in the work process. Thank you guys. I would recommend an Interlock Roof for every home, or any building and the long term ">cost is less than another roof system.

Sorry I didn’t get this to you sooner, but I just wanted to drop you a line on the excellent installation of my roof by Nazar and Sergei. They installed our roof in February and never let the harsh weather affect their attention to detail and their determination to do quality work. I was very fortunate to get these two Ukrainian gentlemen as my installers.

Review: August 25, 2007 Completion: April 27, 2007

I am writing to tell you how much my wife and I are satisfied with our new roof from Interlock Roofing. Our old asphalt shingles were showing the effects of time both aesthetically and functionally. Most noticeably was the water mark on the living room ceiling that just kept growing with each passing rain. We certainly weren't looking forward to buying a new roof, since we were still paying for our wedding six months before, but knew we had to do something soon. I mentioned to Dawn that I had heard metal roofs were becoming popular because of how long they last; but she was concerned our home would look like a fast food restaurant, a factory, or even worse a tin roof barn. She made it clear that a modern looking metal roof would ruin the look of our 1860s vintage home. I said I thought I had seen a couple of years ago a house that was done with what I thought the sign said was metal but looked like shingles instead of ridged sheets she pictured. The problem was I couldn't remember the name of the roofer – just that they had an orange sign. A friend of our mentioned there was a Home Show coming up in Worchester and we figured it would be fun to look around and dream about improvements we could make. As we walked the aisles, I saw your familiar orange sign and product display booth. I said to Dawn look at this! This looks really nice – it looks just like " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">slate! Wouldn't that look really great on our house! Two weeks later, you explained what made Interlock Roofing different from other materials and the lifetime " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty helped us feel confident in making what was for us a major purchase decision. Although an Interlock roof might cost more initially, we think it is well worth it knowing we will never have to buy another roof for this home again. Your company and crews are great! A representative called to let us know materials were being delivered and when they arrived they were neatly stored out of the way until the work began. A supervisor called to let us know when the work would begin, and except for two days of rain which delayed their start, the job was completed within the estimated three days. At the end of each day, they cleaned up after themselves and when the job was competed they raked up any pieces that may have been missed in the grass. The completed roof looks great and enhances the appearance of our home. We have had many people stop and compliment us on it and at least one had already installed an Interlock roof of their own. Should we ever move from this home in the future, one of the features we will look for is an Interlock roof or plan on upgrading to one in our new home as well.

Review: June 2, 2006 Completion: July 25, 2005

Just wanted to let you know that we are very satisfied with the aluminum interlocking roof which was installed in July of 2005. It was amazing to us how quickly and efficiently your men worked in removing our old asphalt layers of roof and installing the new one. Needless to say, we were very impressed with their work as well as our new roof! Unfortunately, during installation of the roof, damage was done to the interior ceiling of our dining room. Interlock did respond and the damaged area was repaired in a timely manner. Unfortunately our existing ceilings are plaster and the repaired area was done in wallboard which simply do not match. In order for this to be repaired properly, the entire ceiling has to be repainted with a light texture. Whatever you can do to help rectify the pending repair to the interior ceiling would be greatly appreciated. We look forward to speaking with you in the near future. Once again, thank you for offering us the opportunity to upgrade our home with an outstanding roof.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Shippan

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Shippan, Connecticut. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Shippan.

Does a metal roof handle Shippan's winter snow and ice buildup?

Yes—the smooth, hard aluminum surface sheds snow and ice far better than asphalt shingles. Shippan averages about 63 cm of snow annually, and freeze-thaw cycling occurs roughly 66 days per year, which causes asphalt to crack and curl. Aluminum's oxide layer has no pores to trap moisture, so it resists ice dam damage. Four-way interlocking panels prevent water infiltration even when snow sits on the roof. Snow guards are available if you want to manage roof runoff, but the metal itself won't degrade from seasonal freeze-thaw stress the way wood shakes or asphalt do.

Will a metal roof rust near the Connecticut coast?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that corrodes. Instead, aluminum develops a thin, self-healing oxide layer that seals and protects the metal underneath. Interlock panels use roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy per ASTM B209, and both sides receive Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating warranted 30 years against corrosion. This dual-sided protection is especially important in coastal Fairfield County salt air. Steel roofing, by contrast, requires constant maintenance and eventually rusts through. Aluminum simply won't.

Can a metal roof stay on in Shippan's storms?

Absolutely. Interlock roofs are warranted to withstand wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification. Shippan's typical daily-max winds reach about 18 km/h, with gusts recorded to 135 km/h—within the warranty range. The four-way interlocking panel design locks each sheet to its neighbors mechanically, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than relying on fasteners alone. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 confirms this assembly meets or exceeds IBC/IRC wind load requirements. You're getting structural protection, not just a cover.

How does aluminum hold up to freeze-thaw cycling?

Freeze-thaw cycles cause materials with pores or moisture absorption to fail: water enters, freezes, expands, and cracks the material. Shippan experiences approximately 66 freeze-thaw days annually. Aluminum is non-porous and has zero water absorption, so ice formation cannot damage it. Asphalt shingles absorb moisture and crack over time; wood shakes split and cup. The Alunar PVDF coating on both sides of Interlock panels is also tested for freeze-thaw resistance per ASTM D4214. The material's physical properties—not just its coating—make it inherently durable through Connecticut winters.

Will switching to a metal roof lower my cooling costs?

Yes, you can lower cooling costs with the right Interlock color. Certain energy-efficient colors have thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55—meaning they reflect heat that dark asphalt absorbs and stores. Shippan receives approximately 3115 sunshine hours annually. A reflective metal roof stays cooler on sunny days, reducing air-conditioning demand. The Cool Roof Rating Council has rated Interlock profiles for this performance. Over 25+ years, energy savings compound. Combined with your 66 freeze-thaw days and ~1251 mm of annual rain, you're protecting against thermal shock and moisture while trimming utility bills.

Does Shippan homeowners insurance cover hail damage on metal roofing?

Most insurers recognize that Interlock's UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—reduces claims risk, often translating to lower premiums or waived deductibles for metal roofs. The warranty itself covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches, giving you a safety net if damage does occur. Some carriers offer discounts simply because Class 4-rated metal roofs have a documented history of surviving severe hail. You'll want to contact your agent with the UL 2218 certification, but many homeowners find that the durability and impact rating work in their favor when shopping insurance.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt?

Over a roof's lifetime, Interlock is typically the last roof you buy. Asphalt shingles cost less upfront but need replacement every 15–20 years; metal roofs often serve 50+ years. The Guardian warranty is non-prorated for the original owner and transferable—the next owner gets 50 years from completion. Current promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation, which significantly improves your return. Factor in energy savings, no storm damage from wind up to 120 mph, and zero maintenance, and the math shifts. You're comparing a 20-year expense cycle to a 50-year roof.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really need?

Very little. Unlike asphalt, which becomes brittle and curls in Shippan's freeze-thaw cycles, or wood shake that splits and rots, aluminum requires no sealing, no replacing individual shingles, and no annual inspections. Shippan receives about 1251 mm of rain annually—heavy enough to self-clean the roof of debris. The Alunar PVDF coating resists fading and chalking for 30 years, verified to ASTM D4214 and D2244 standards. Gutters need clearing, but the roof itself doesn't. The ICC-ES listing includes CALGreen verification for reduced maintenance, confirming lower lifecycle labor costs versus traditional materials.

Can my home's framing handle a metal roof, or do I need reinforcement?

No reinforcement needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile is about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile, installing at just 0.59 lb/sq ft—less than one pound per square foot. Even the heavier Shake profile weighs only 0.58 lb/sq ft. Most existing roof framing already supports these loads because they're designed for asphalt shingles plus snow load (Shippan averages 63 cm annually). Installation occurs directly over your existing roof structure or decking. Contractors can verify your specific setup, but this light weight is one of the defining advantages: you get the look of heavy traditional materials without the structural upgrade cost.

How long does a metal roof installation take in Connecticut?

Installation typically takes 3–7 days depending on roof size and weather. Shippan's approximately 3115 annual sunshine hours and predictable seasonal windows allow contractors to plan efficiently. A key advantage: Interlock installs directly over most existing roofs—no tear-off required, which saves time and eliminates the asphalt-to-landfill disposal cycle. Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. has served the region since 1999 and understands local building codes (ICC-ES ESR-1790 compliance) and seasonal considerations. Work proceeds faster because there's no structural reinforcement, no extensive decking repair, and no days lost to stripping old material.
