Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for North Stamford, Connecticut
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Everybody was great to work with highly professional. Any underlying damage was all taken care of and we love the roof.
> We had the pleasure of meeting Jonathan Brown at the Mohegan Sun Home Show and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to tell him how happy we are with our Interlock roof of ~20 years. We constantly receive compliments from people passing by on how beautiful it looks. Most of all, we appreciate the peace of mind it gives us—knowing we’ll never have to replace our roof, thanks to the lifetime warranty and guaranteed protection against leaks.
Jonathan was great help getting us all the information needed for the roof and what to expect, and the whole process. The installation was fast, the roofers were hard working and professional. The look of the metal roof is superb!
It was a pleasure working with Interlock from beginning to end. The back office was good about setting expectations for job start and duration, delivery of materials (which happened on time) and work to be performed. They were also good about making adjustments to work with trim that needed to be replaced, etc. The crew that did the install and cleanup was very professional and hard working. I am extremely satisfied with the end result and would definitely recommend Interlock! This is actually my second roof, I had one installed on a different property 20 years ago and it has held the test of time with virtually no maintenance.
What a beautiful roof. We are so happy and now we have a forever roof. Thank you. Techs were great. Positive: Punctuality, Quality Services: Roof installation
Salesman was very courteous and polite. Straight forward no hype or fluff. Company kept constant contact, took care of the required building permits. Had the dumpster and materials delivered on time and removed quickly. The crew was phenomenal, polite courteous. Explained everything, and was very conscientious about their work. If the the nail didn't go in the way he liked he pulled it and did it right. Nailing was all done by hand. Roof has been great since no issues and still looks great. Over all very pleased and well worth the money.
Couldn’t have chosen a better product, it’s been 2 years since installation and have absolutely no issues. The house is cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Speaking of winter it’s only a matter of hours after a snow storm that all the snow slides right off, no more ice dams and ice filled gutters. The installers were awesome had the entire roof done in a day and a half and cleaned up prior to leaving. We love our Interlock roof.
This letter has been a long time in coming. My husband and I had an Interlock Roof installed in November 2009 and have been meaning to tell you how pleased we are with the look of the new roof and the service provided by the installers ~ Nazaar and Vitality. We’ve gotten many questions and compliments from friends, neighbors and passersby. Both our home and detached garage needed to be re-roofed, with both requiring removal of the old roofing material and the installation of plywood before applying the Interlock product. We were originally told that it would take up to 2 weeks for the job to be completed. To our amazement, the job was completed within a week’s time and that included inclement weather! Nazaar and Vitaliy put in very long days, were very polite, honored their commitments and ALWAYS cleaned everything up before they left for the day. We have children and a dog and found not one nail in the yard after the job was completed. Based on this experience and a product that speaks for itself, we would definitely recommend an Interlock Roof!
I wish to thank " target="\_blank" rel="noopener">Interlock Industries, Inc. for a great roofing system. I'm 100% satisfied and it has a clean and beautiful look. It's great! It's wonderful to know the roof never need replacement again. I also wish to thank Bob Allen, Jerry and Paul McAllister for being so helpful in completing the work. I know this " target="\_blank" rel="noopener">roof system was right when we met Bob Allen the first time, he explained everything in detail. Everything he said was correct. The men who did the work were polite and respectiful, and were clean and neat in the work process. Thank you guys. I would recommend an Interlock Roof for every home, or any building and the long term ">cost is less than another roof system.
Sorry I didn’t get this to you sooner, but I just wanted to drop you a line on the excellent installation of my roof by Nazar and Sergei. They installed our roof in February and never let the harsh weather affect their attention to detail and their determination to do quality work. I was very fortunate to get these two Ukrainian gentlemen as my installers.
I am writing to tell you how much my wife and I are satisfied with our new roof from Interlock Roofing. Our old asphalt shingles were showing the effects of time both aesthetically and functionally. Most noticeably was the water mark on the living room ceiling that just kept growing with each passing rain. We certainly weren't looking forward to buying a new roof, since we were still paying for our wedding six months before, but knew we had to do something soon. I mentioned to Dawn that I had heard metal roofs were becoming popular because of how long they last; but she was concerned our home would look like a fast food restaurant, a factory, or even worse a tin roof barn. She made it clear that a modern looking metal roof would ruin the look of our 1860s vintage home. I said I thought I had seen a couple of years ago a house that was done with what I thought the sign said was metal but looked like shingles instead of ridged sheets she pictured. The problem was I couldn't remember the name of the roofer – just that they had an orange sign. A friend of our mentioned there was a Home Show coming up in Worchester and we figured it would be fun to look around and dream about improvements we could make. As we walked the aisles, I saw your familiar orange sign and product display booth. I said to Dawn look at this! This looks really nice – it looks just like " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">slate! Wouldn't that look really great on our house! Two weeks later, you explained what made Interlock Roofing different from other materials and the lifetime " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty helped us feel confident in making what was for us a major purchase decision. Although an Interlock roof might cost more initially, we think it is well worth it knowing we will never have to buy another roof for this home again. Your company and crews are great! A representative called to let us know materials were being delivered and when they arrived they were neatly stored out of the way until the work began. A supervisor called to let us know when the work would begin, and except for two days of rain which delayed their start, the job was completed within the estimated three days. At the end of each day, they cleaned up after themselves and when the job was competed they raked up any pieces that may have been missed in the grass. The completed roof looks great and enhances the appearance of our home. We have had many people stop and compliment us on it and at least one had already installed an Interlock roof of their own. Should we ever move from this home in the future, one of the features we will look for is an Interlock roof or plan on upgrading to one in our new home as well.
Just wanted to let you know that we are very satisfied with the aluminum interlocking roof which was installed in July of 2005. It was amazing to us how quickly and efficiently your men worked in removing our old asphalt layers of roof and installing the new one. Needless to say, we were very impressed with their work as well as our new roof! Unfortunately, during installation of the roof, damage was done to the interior ceiling of our dining room. Interlock did respond and the damaged area was repaired in a timely manner. Unfortunately our existing ceilings are plaster and the repaired area was done in wallboard which simply do not match. In order for this to be repaired properly, the entire ceiling has to be repainted with a light texture. Whatever you can do to help rectify the pending repair to the interior ceiling would be greatly appreciated. We look forward to speaking with you in the near future. Once again, thank you for offering us the opportunity to upgrade our home with an outstanding roof.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in North Stamford
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in North Stamford, Connecticut. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in North Stamford.
Will a metal roof handle Connecticut's freeze-thaw cycles?
Yes—aluminum's self-healing oxide layer actually thrives in freeze-thaw conditions. North Stamford averages about 66 freeze-thaw days per year, which is exactly where aluminum shines because it expands and contracts uniformly without cracking, splitting, or curling like asphalt or wood. The 3105-H24 aluminum alloy won't degrade from repeated temperature swings; the coating (Alunar 70% PVDF, 30-year warranty) protects the surface through thousands of cycles. Steel roofs rust when salt and moisture penetrate scratches during freezing; aluminum cannot rust, period. That's why Interlock panels have been installed from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations without material failure.
How does a metal roof handle heavy snow loads?
Metal roofs shed snow faster and handle it better than you'd expect. North Stamford receives roughly 63 centimeters of snow annually, but Interlock's four-way interlocking design and smooth surface profiles prevent ice dams by allowing melt and water to channel away efficiently. The panels themselves weigh almost nothing—the Slate profile installs at about 0.41 lb/sq ft compared to traditional slate or concrete tile—so your existing structure carries the snow load just fine without reinforcement. Snow guard accessories are available if you want to manage roof-to-ground drop in specific areas. The warranty holds up to the worst winter weather because there's no wood to absorb moisture, no asphalt to soften under freeze-thaw stress.
Can a metal roof rust in Connecticut's wet climate?
Aluminum cannot rust—that's the material itself, not a sales pitch. Rust requires iron, and our roofing aluminum (3105-H24 and 3003-H24 alloy per ASTM B209) contains zero iron. What you get instead is a thin, self-healing oxide layer that actually strengthens the panel when scratched. With roughly 1251 millimeters of annual rainfall in North Stamford, exposure to moisture is constant, but water simply runs off the Alunar PVDF coating applied to both sides of every panel. That two-sided protection is critical in humid climates; it's why the 30-year coating warranty covers chalking and fading even after decades of salt air and rain exposure. Steel roofs corrode from the inside out once water breaches the coating; aluminum panels outlast the warranty period itself.
Will a metal roof stay put in Connecticut wind gusts?
Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph, and North Stamford's typical wind gusts reach about 135 km/h (84 mph) with occasional stronger events. The mechanical interlock means each panel locks to its neighbors on all four sides—not fastened individually to your deck—so wind pressure is distributed across the whole roof system instead of pulling on fasteners. When you install to spec, the system moves as one. That's why UL testing and the ICC-ES evaluation (ESR-1790, reissued 2025) confirm the panels hold during extreme weather. Asphalt shingles and tile are more vulnerable to uplift because they rely on adhesive or gravity alone; this design eliminates that failure mode entirely.
How does a metal roof handle North Stamford's heavy rainfall?
Rainfall in North Stamford averages about 1251 millimeters per year, so your roof needs to be absolutely leak-proof. Interlock's four-way mechanical interlock creates a continuous, overlapping surface—water cannot run sideways between panels or back up under them the way it can with shingles. Each profile (Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Tile, Standing Seam) is engineered so rainfall flows downslope and off the roof; the panels themselves create the leak barrier, not sealant or caulk that fails over time. The lightweight construction (Shake profile ~0.58 lb/sq ft) means you can install over most existing roofs without tearing off, which reduces the window of vulnerability during installation. Combined with proper underlayment and deck, the interlock system and smooth metal surface shed water faster than asphalt ever could.
Does a metal roof hold up to hail, and can I get an insurance discount?
Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 means the panel resists damage from impacts that destroy asphalt shingles and many other materials. Insurance companies recognize this durability; many offer discounts on premiums for non-combustible, impact-resistant roofing, though discount amounts vary by carrier and policy. North Stamford's climate occasionally produces severe thunderstorms, and a Class 4-rated roof removes hail damage from your list of worries. The aluminum's ability to absorb impact without cracking (unlike tile) and its non-corrosive nature mean the roof bounces back cosmetically intact. Check with your insurer for specific discount eligibility once your contractor provides the UL 2218 rating documentation.
Do I need to reinforce my house to support a metal roof?
No structural reinforcement is needed. The Mediterranean Tile profile weighs roughly 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than actual concrete or clay tile—so most existing roof framing handles the load without upgrades. Compare that to traditional slate or tile, which can weigh 10-15 pounds per square foot and often requires structural work. You can install Interlock over most existing roofs without tearing off, which saves cost and time. Even the heavier Shake profile (~0.58 lb/sq ft) is feather-light by roofing standards. The ICC-ES evaluation (ESR-1790) confirms installation safety on standard residential framing. This is one of aluminum's concrete advantages: you get the visual character of premium materials without the engineering headache or structural expense that real slate and tile demand.
What's the warranty on a metal roof, and is it really a lifetime roof?
The Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. The Alunar coating carries a separate 30-year warranty against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214 / D2244 measured). When you sell, the warranty transfers once and gives the next owner 50 years from completion, which adds real value to your home. This is not a 'best effort' promise; it's backed by the manufacturer's commitment to the aluminum itself. North Stamford's 66 annual freeze-thaw days and 1251 mm of rain are precisely the conditions that weed out inferior roofing quickly—and this warranty stands up to that stress because aluminum doesn't rust, rot, or degrade from moisture cycling the way traditional materials do. You're essentially buying your last roof.
Can a metal roof reduce my cooling costs?
Yes, if you choose an energy-efficient color. Interlock offers cool-roof-rated profiles with thermal emissivity up to 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny color). That means the roof reflects heat that asphalt shingles absorb and radiate into your attic. North Stamford receives about 3115 sunshine hours annually, so reflective coatings do real work during warm months. The energy-efficiency designation confirms measurable cooling benefit; how much you save depends on insulation, shading, and your HVAC system. Darker colors absorb more heat, lighter colors reflect more—choose based on your region's heating and cooling balance. Over a 50-year roof life, the energy savings add up, especially if you're replacing dark asphalt. The reflective coating is part of the standard Alunar finish, so you're not paying extra for the thermal benefit.
Who installs Interlock metal roofing in North Stamford?
Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. serves North Stamford and the broader Fairfield County region, with roots in the area since 1999. They know local building codes, snow loads, wind patterns, and the freeze-thaw stress that Connecticut roofs face. They're the installer who actually understands that roughly 63 centimeters of annual snow and 135 km/h wind gusts demand proper installation technique. Right now, the company is offering no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off metal roof installation—financing options that make upgrading easier. When you work with an established regional installer, you get warranty support and service access if anything ever needs attention. Contact them directly for a site visit and estimate; they can assess your existing roof and explain installation options specific to your home.
