Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Riverside, Connecticut
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Everybody was great to work with highly professional. Any underlying damage was all taken care of and we love the roof.
> We had the pleasure of meeting Jonathan Brown at the Mohegan Sun Home Show and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to tell him how happy we are with our Interlock roof of ~20 years. We constantly receive compliments from people passing by on how beautiful it looks. Most of all, we appreciate the peace of mind it gives us—knowing we’ll never have to replace our roof, thanks to the lifetime warranty and guaranteed protection against leaks.
Jonathan was great help getting us all the information needed for the roof and what to expect, and the whole process. The installation was fast, the roofers were hard working and professional. The look of the metal roof is superb!
It was a pleasure working with Interlock from beginning to end. The back office was good about setting expectations for job start and duration, delivery of materials (which happened on time) and work to be performed. They were also good about making adjustments to work with trim that needed to be replaced, etc. The crew that did the install and cleanup was very professional and hard working. I am extremely satisfied with the end result and would definitely recommend Interlock! This is actually my second roof, I had one installed on a different property 20 years ago and it has held the test of time with virtually no maintenance.
What a beautiful roof. We are so happy and now we have a forever roof. Thank you. Techs were great. Positive: Punctuality, Quality Services: Roof installation
Salesman was very courteous and polite. Straight forward no hype or fluff. Company kept constant contact, took care of the required building permits. Had the dumpster and materials delivered on time and removed quickly. The crew was phenomenal, polite courteous. Explained everything, and was very conscientious about their work. If the the nail didn't go in the way he liked he pulled it and did it right. Nailing was all done by hand. Roof has been great since no issues and still looks great. Over all very pleased and well worth the money.
Couldn’t have chosen a better product, it’s been 2 years since installation and have absolutely no issues. The house is cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Speaking of winter it’s only a matter of hours after a snow storm that all the snow slides right off, no more ice dams and ice filled gutters. The installers were awesome had the entire roof done in a day and a half and cleaned up prior to leaving. We love our Interlock roof.
This letter has been a long time in coming. My husband and I had an Interlock Roof installed in November 2009 and have been meaning to tell you how pleased we are with the look of the new roof and the service provided by the installers ~ Nazaar and Vitality. We’ve gotten many questions and compliments from friends, neighbors and passersby. Both our home and detached garage needed to be re-roofed, with both requiring removal of the old roofing material and the installation of plywood before applying the Interlock product. We were originally told that it would take up to 2 weeks for the job to be completed. To our amazement, the job was completed within a week’s time and that included inclement weather! Nazaar and Vitaliy put in very long days, were very polite, honored their commitments and ALWAYS cleaned everything up before they left for the day. We have children and a dog and found not one nail in the yard after the job was completed. Based on this experience and a product that speaks for itself, we would definitely recommend an Interlock Roof!
I wish to thank " target="\_blank" rel="noopener">Interlock Industries, Inc. for a great roofing system. I'm 100% satisfied and it has a clean and beautiful look. It's great! It's wonderful to know the roof never need replacement again. I also wish to thank Bob Allen, Jerry and Paul McAllister for being so helpful in completing the work. I know this " target="\_blank" rel="noopener">roof system was right when we met Bob Allen the first time, he explained everything in detail. Everything he said was correct. The men who did the work were polite and respectiful, and were clean and neat in the work process. Thank you guys. I would recommend an Interlock Roof for every home, or any building and the long term ">cost is less than another roof system.
Sorry I didn’t get this to you sooner, but I just wanted to drop you a line on the excellent installation of my roof by Nazar and Sergei. They installed our roof in February and never let the harsh weather affect their attention to detail and their determination to do quality work. I was very fortunate to get these two Ukrainian gentlemen as my installers.
I am writing to tell you how much my wife and I are satisfied with our new roof from Interlock Roofing. Our old asphalt shingles were showing the effects of time both aesthetically and functionally. Most noticeably was the water mark on the living room ceiling that just kept growing with each passing rain. We certainly weren't looking forward to buying a new roof, since we were still paying for our wedding six months before, but knew we had to do something soon. I mentioned to Dawn that I had heard metal roofs were becoming popular because of how long they last; but she was concerned our home would look like a fast food restaurant, a factory, or even worse a tin roof barn. She made it clear that a modern looking metal roof would ruin the look of our 1860s vintage home. I said I thought I had seen a couple of years ago a house that was done with what I thought the sign said was metal but looked like shingles instead of ridged sheets she pictured. The problem was I couldn't remember the name of the roofer – just that they had an orange sign. A friend of our mentioned there was a Home Show coming up in Worchester and we figured it would be fun to look around and dream about improvements we could make. As we walked the aisles, I saw your familiar orange sign and product display booth. I said to Dawn look at this! This looks really nice – it looks just like " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">slate! Wouldn't that look really great on our house! Two weeks later, you explained what made Interlock Roofing different from other materials and the lifetime " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty helped us feel confident in making what was for us a major purchase decision. Although an Interlock roof might cost more initially, we think it is well worth it knowing we will never have to buy another roof for this home again. Your company and crews are great! A representative called to let us know materials were being delivered and when they arrived they were neatly stored out of the way until the work began. A supervisor called to let us know when the work would begin, and except for two days of rain which delayed their start, the job was completed within the estimated three days. At the end of each day, they cleaned up after themselves and when the job was competed they raked up any pieces that may have been missed in the grass. The completed roof looks great and enhances the appearance of our home. We have had many people stop and compliment us on it and at least one had already installed an Interlock roof of their own. Should we ever move from this home in the future, one of the features we will look for is an Interlock roof or plan on upgrading to one in our new home as well.
Just wanted to let you know that we are very satisfied with the aluminum interlocking roof which was installed in July of 2005. It was amazing to us how quickly and efficiently your men worked in removing our old asphalt layers of roof and installing the new one. Needless to say, we were very impressed with their work as well as our new roof! Unfortunately, during installation of the roof, damage was done to the interior ceiling of our dining room. Interlock did respond and the damaged area was repaired in a timely manner. Unfortunately our existing ceilings are plaster and the repaired area was done in wallboard which simply do not match. In order for this to be repaired properly, the entire ceiling has to be repainted with a light texture. Whatever you can do to help rectify the pending repair to the interior ceiling would be greatly appreciated. We look forward to speaking with you in the near future. Once again, thank you for offering us the opportunity to upgrade our home with an outstanding roof.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Riverside
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Riverside, Connecticut. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Riverside.
Will a metal roof hold up through Riverside's freeze-thaw cycles?
Yes—aluminum is immune to the freeze-thaw damage that cracks asphalt and wood shingles. Riverside experiences about 66 freeze-thaw days per year, where moisture penetrates traditional materials, expands when frozen, and splinters them on thaw. Aluminum's oxide layer self-heals when scratched, and the 3105-H24 alloy expands and contracts uniformly without cracking. The four-way interlocking panels shed water before it pools, preventing ice-dam formation that accelerates deterioration in cold climates.
How does Interlock handle heavy snow loads and ice buildup?
The aluminum Shake profile weighs just 0.58 lb/sq ft, so Riverside's average 63 cm of annual snow accumulates no structural risk—your home won't need reinforcement. The smooth, hard-anodized Slate and Standing Seam profiles naturally shed snow and ice faster than textured asphalt, reducing ice-dam formation on gutters and eaves. Snow guards are available if you prefer controlled release. At 120 mph wind warranty (193 km/h), even gust events typical to Connecticut won't lift panels once snow has settled.
Does Interlock metal roofing leak in Riverside's frequent rainy weather?
Riverside receives about 1251 mm of rain annually—roughly 150% of the U.S. average. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels overlap at every edge, creating a shingle-within-shingle seal that moves water laterally and down, never pooling. The system is rated to ICC-ES ESR-1790 standards for the International Building Code; when installed over solid decking with felt underlayment (standard practice), water penetration is functionally identical to asphalt. The rigid aluminum profile resists oil-canning and panel flutter that allows wind-driven rain past loose-fitting seams.
Can Interlock aluminum rust or corrode near coastal humidity?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Interlock has installed roofs from salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station, and Riverside's inland Fairfield County location is far less corrosive. The roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy naturally forms a protective oxide layer that self-heals microscopic scratches. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish, applied to both sides of the panel, is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214 / D2244 tested). Steel roofs, by contrast, require paint maintenance and eventually rust through—a non-issue with aluminum.
What's the hail rating, and could it lower my insurance premiums?
Interlock holds UL 2218 Class 4—the highest impact rating available—and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This non-combustible aluminum profile outperforms asphalt shingles, which dent, bruise, and lose granules under the same hail events. Many homeowners in high-hail regions qualify for insurance discounts; contact your carrier with the UL 2218 Class 4 certification and ICC-ES ESR-1790 listing. Riverside's climate data shows severe hail is less frequent than in the Midwest, but when it occurs, Interlock's rigid aluminum resists the damage that triggers costly claims and premium increases.
Do I need to reinforce my roof framing for a metal roof?
No. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs just 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so most Riverside homes need zero structural modification. The Slate and Cedar Shingle profiles are equally light. This matters because it allows installation over existing asphalt shingles (avoiding tear-off labor and landfill impact) and because it preserves your home's original load path. Concrete tile requires expensive roof reinforcement; Interlock's lightweight aluminum delivers the aesthetic without the structural cost or delay.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?
Interlock is your last roof. Asphalt lasts 15–25 years; Interlock carries a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner and one transfer of 50 years for the next owner. Over 50 years, you'll replace asphalt 2–3 times (material, labor, and disposal each cycle), while Interlock requires no tear-off, no asphalt landfill fees, and minimal maintenance. Current financing is available: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation. The lifecycle cost—especially when amortized over your ownership and the home's resale value—favors aluminum. Factoring in Riverside's 63 cm annual snow and 1251 mm rain (which asphalt absorbs, shortening its life), the math tilts further toward Interlock.
Will Interlock stay on my roof in Riverside's windstorms?
Interlock is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Riverside experiences typical daily-max winds near 18 km/h with gusts reaching 135 km/h—within Interlock's resistance envelope. The four-way interlocking panel design locks each shingle to its neighbors horizontally and vertically, so wind pressure cannot lift or separate them. Unlike asphalt shingles (which blow off edge-first, exposing underlayment) or standing-seam panels with fastener-only attachment, Interlock's mechanical interlock provides redundant wind resistance. Combined with proper fastening to solid decking, the system handles nor'easters and spring gales without leak risk or panel loss.
Do metal roofs get hotter and increase cooling costs?
The opposite. Interlock's energy-efficient colors have thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), reflecting heat that dark asphalt absorbs. Riverside receives about 3115 sunshine hours annually; Interlock's Cool Roof Rating Council certification means more of that solar gain bounces back to the sky rather than heating your attic. Metal conducts heat quickly, but the air gap between the panel and solid decking (plus standard ventilation) allows that energy to dissipate rather than build up. Summer cooling costs typically decline, and winter heat loss through the roof is unchanged from asphalt because both rest on the same insulation.
Who installs Interlock in Riverside, Connecticut, and how long has the company been in the area?
Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. has served the region since 1999—over 25 years of installation experience in Fairfield County's freeze-thaw, snow, and coastal-humidity environment. They are the authorized installer for all five profiles (Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, Mediterranean Tile), trained on proper fastening over existing decks, pitch-specific sealing, and local code compliance (ICC-ES ESR-1790, current through 2025). Local installation means shorter lead times, familiar with Riverside's building permit process, and warranty service from installers who understand the product and your home's specific conditions.
