What our customers are saying:

Review: May 5, 2021 Completion: April 13, 2021

We are very happy with our new roof. From start to finish everything was perfect. When putting on a new roof, it is so important to do the appropriate prep work. For years we had leaks in our old roofs, yes old roofs, (more than 1) as they were never done correctly. We have a old farm house and under the tar paper was wood that needed to be replaced, though no one ever told us! (Just went over it) Interlock looked at the roof and told us it needed plywood and that was why the roof’s always leaked. One by one each shingle section was hand hammered. They were so careful to make sure the pattern was lined up and fit just right. We have never seen the team work so hard, 7am - 7pm, consistent and careful. Each day the yard was spotless before they left. This company has expert knowledge on this type of installation. Thank you Interlock roofing The sales person needs to be more technical, and motivated, and interested in the product. The 1st meeting via zoom, it was a different salesperson giving the presentation, which was excellent. The salesperson in our location was the problem. You need to advertise your product in our area. We had no idea about metal shingles, until we started looked online for a new roof.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Concord

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Concord, Massachusetts. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Concord.

How does a metal roof handle Concord's 120 cm of annual snow?

Interlock's four-way interlocking panels lock snow in place rather than shedding it suddenly, and the lightweight aluminum design (Shake profile at 0.58 lb/sq ft) eliminates structural concerns. Concord's 93 freeze-thaw days per year pose a real challenge for traditional roofs—ice dams form as snow melts and refreezes—but aluminum's expansion characteristics and slick surface minimize ice-dam trapping. Snow guards can be integrated into the installation if desired. The system sheds meltwater cleanly in spring thaws.

Why does freeze-thaw cycling in Massachusetts hurt asphalt roofs but not metal ones?

Asphalt absorbs moisture and loses flexibility in freeze-thaw cycles; Concord experiences about 93 such cycles yearly, causing asphalt to crack and curl. Aluminum, being non-porous, doesn't absorb water, so it won't deteriorate from repeated freezing. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating (warranted 30 years) seals the surface on both sides of each panel, resisting the salt-laden air and moisture that accelerate decay. Over a roof's life, this difference compounds significantly.

Can an aluminum metal roof rust in a humid New England climate?

No—aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Its oxide layer forms instantly when exposed to air and self-heals when scratched, even in Concord's wet environment (1058 mm rain annually). The Alunar coating applied to both panel sides adds a second protective barrier against moisture and salt. The Guardian warranty covers rusting, underscoring the manufacturer's confidence. Homeowners switching from steel roofing to aluminum eliminate corrosion as a maintenance concern entirely.

Is a metal roof more affordable than asphalt over 40 or 50 years?

Yes. Asphalt requires replacement every 15-20 years; a Concord home typically needs 2-3 tear-offs and new installations, plus disposal and labor costs each cycle. Interlock's Guardian warranty is non-prorated for the original owner and transfers once (50 years total from completion), eliminating that cycle. The roof never needs replacement. Current financing offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation. Over five decades, you buy this roof once.

Can my house handle a metal tile roof, or do I need to reinforce the structure?

No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs just 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so it installs directly over most existing roofs without additional framing. Traditional tile would demand costly beams and trusses. The lightweight aluminum design lets you upgrade the appearance of your home's exterior without major construction. This is particularly valuable in Concord, where replacing structural elements adds months and expense to a project.

What hail protection does an aluminum metal roof provide?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This rating matters in New England, where severe spring and summer storms occur. The four-way interlocking panels distribute impact forces across a wider area, resisting deformation. Some insurance carriers recognize this durability and offer premium discounts on metal roofs; contact your agent to verify eligibility for your Concord home.

Will a metal roof stay secure in Concord's winter and spring gusts?

Yes. Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Concord's typical wind gusts reach 104 km/h, well within the system's rated capacity. The four-way mechanical interlock between panels prevents lifting and displacement. Each panel is fastened to the deck through a hidden clip system that resists uplift without exposed fasteners. The system has been installed from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station, proving robustness in extreme conditions.

Can an energy-efficiency metal roof cut cooling costs in summer?

energy-efficient colors reflect heat that asphalt absorbs, lowering attic and indoor temperatures. Concord receives about 3054 sunshine hours annually, making reflective coatings genuinely valuable. Interlock's Cool Roof Rating Council-rated profiles offer initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, reducing the cooling load in warm months. The lightweight panels also allow air to circulate beneath them, further improving ventilation. Over 50 years, the cumulative energy savings offset cooling costs.

How much upkeep does a metal roof actually need?

Metal roofs need far less maintenance than asphalt, wood, or ceramic tile. Interlock's aluminum construction requires no sealing, patching, or granule replacement. A simple annual rinse removes leaves and debris; the slick surface sheds standing water naturally. Asphalt roofs need repairs every few years as granules shed and sun damage accelerates across Concord's 3054 annual sunshine hours. Wood shakes invite rot and pest damage in a region receiving 1058 mm of rain yearly. Tile cracks in freeze-thaw cycles. Aluminum outlasts them all with minimal attention.

Is an aluminum metal roof better for the environment than asphalt shingles?

Yes. Interlock's aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, ending the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle that most Concord homes repeat every 15-20 years. A single replacement generates thousands of pounds of shingle waste. Metal roofs last 50+ years without tear-off, eliminating repeated material extraction and manufacturing. The lightweight design reduces transportation emissions. At end of life, aluminum retains full scrap value and enters the recycling stream. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance impact. Choosing metal is the most environmentally responsible roofing decision a homeowner can make.
