What our customers are saying:
No idea. We are happy so far.
The original estimate was based on assumptions made by the contractor. I am still waiting on the final invoice.
We recently had a metal shingle roof installed by Interlock Roofing from Waltham, MA. The company coordinated the delivery of materials and dumpster pick-up. The work crew treated our home and belongings with consideration and respect. I happened to come home while one gentleman cleared the furniture and plants (there were many) from the deck. He moved our tomato plants one at a time as though they were very valuable to him. They worked very hard at our home for four days, two of which were twelve-hour days for them. This was the direct result of the work ethic of Baha, the crew chief. He was fabulous. They worked Saturday and Sunday, which happened to be Father’s Day, in the rain to finish our roof in the time frame they initially told us. He checked in with us frequently for feedback, and we developed quite a rapport. He is a master craftsman. There is no other way to describe the quality of his work. He was concerned that every shingle is the best. He hand-shaped many of them, and it shows. He improved the original plan for the placement of snow guards. The roof is extremely well done, and we are proud of it and the people who did it. We expected our yard to be a mess when the roof was finished. There was no mess. None of our perennials were damaged, and we have several next to the house. One man used a magnet to pick up the nails on the ground from removing the old roof. Baha even had one of his men push the materials in the dumpster down so that it would look as nice as possible for the twelve hours it sat full in our yard.
Improvement in upfront sales, and installation. Promises were not kept. Quoting the job was erroneous. The installers did a extremely poor job of cleaning the area. We had 3 flat tires from nails all over the property. We continue to find more. Debris/nails etc left in the gutters and on top of the roof. and more...
We are very happy with our new roof. From start to finish everything was perfect. When putting on a new roof, it is so important to do the appropriate prep work. For years we had leaks in our old roofs, yes old roofs, (more than 1) as they were never done correctly. We have a old farm house and under the tar paper was wood that needed to be replaced, though no one ever told us! (Just went over it) Interlock looked at the roof and told us it needed plywood and that was why the roof’s always leaked. One by one each shingle section was hand hammered. They were so careful to make sure the pattern was lined up and fit just right. We have never seen the team work so hard, 7am - 7pm, consistent and careful. Each day the yard was spotless before they left. This company has expert knowledge on this type of installation. Thank you Interlock roofing The sales person needs to be more technical, and motivated, and interested in the product. The 1st meeting via zoom, it was a different salesperson giving the presentation, which was excellent. The salesperson in our location was the problem. You need to advertise your product in our area. We had no idea about metal shingles, until we started looked online for a new roof.
The salesperson was nice, presented everything clearly, and was not pushy.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Cherry Brook
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Cherry Brook, Massachusetts. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Cherry Brook.
How does a metal roof handle the snow and ice buildup we get in Cherry Brook?
Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt, which tends to trap moisture and freeze. With about 120 cm of snow annually in your area and roughly 93 freeze-thaw days per year, a metal roof's smooth surface and superior drainage prevent the ice dam formation that damages gutters and walls. The lightweight construction—the Slate profile weighs just 0.41 lb per square foot—means no added structural strain from accumulated snow load, and optional snow guards can be installed to manage slide-off safely on steep pitches.
Will freeze-thaw cycles damage an aluminum metal roof in Massachusetts winters?
No. Aluminum's oxide layer naturally heals when exposed to air and moisture, making it immune to the rust and structural failure that steel roofs develop under freeze-thaw stress. Your region experiences about 93 freeze-thaw days yearly, a condition that splits and curls asphalt and degrades wood shakes—but Interlock's 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum alloy has no iron content and cannot rust, so each thaw cycle doesn't weaken it. The 30-year Alunar PVDF coating, applied to both sides, adds another layer of protection against salt spray and moisture penetration, which accelerates freeze-thaw damage in competing materials.
Does a metal roof leak with the rainfall Cherry Brook gets?
Properly installed Interlock metal roofing does not leak. Your area receives about 1058 mm of rain annually, and the four-way interlocking panel system is engineered to shed water down and away, with sealed seams that prevent water from entering the structure. When installed over solid decking and underlayment—standard practice for Interlock installations—the roof performs identically to asphalt in wet conditions while lasting far longer. The interlocking design also eliminates fastener penetrations on the panel faces, removing the primary source of leaks that plague traditional shingle roofs in high-rainfall climates.
Can a metal roof withstand the wind gusts we get here?
Yes. Interlock metal roofing is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification, well above the typical gusts your region experiences—around 104 km/h in extreme events. The four-way interlocking panels are mechanically locked in all directions, distributing wind load across the entire roof system rather than relying on fasteners alone. This design approach, verified in ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 for IBC/IRC compliance, is why the roof maintains its integrity during nor'easters and heavy spring storms, and why some Interlock roofs have been installed from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station without wind-related failure.
What is the hail rating for a metal roof, and could it reduce my insurance costs?
Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This durability often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts because metal roofs resist hail damage that destroys asphalt and wood shakes, reducing the frequency and cost of insurance claims. Many carriers recognize that a Class 4 rated metal roof will outlast multiple claim cycles, lowering your overall risk profile. Contact your insurance agent with the UL 2218 certification to discuss potential premium reductions; the savings can be meaningful over the roof's 50+ year lifespan.
Do I need to reinforce my home's structure for a metal roof?
No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's aluminum panels are extraordinarily light—the Mediterranean Tile profile, which replicates the look of heavy clay or concrete tile, weighs only about 0.59 lb per square foot and is approximately 96% lighter than the traditional material it mimics. This means you can often install a metal roof directly over your existing roof, eliminating the cost and disruption of a full tear-off. In Cherry Brook's climate, where snow load is a real concern, this lightweight advantage is significant: your structure supports the roof easily even in heavy snowfall around 120 cm annually, eliminating the reinforcement expense that tile or slate would demand.
Why can't an aluminum roof rust like a steel metal roof?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and corrodes in steel. Instead, aluminum develops a thin, self-healing oxide layer when exposed to air and moisture, a process that actually protects the material beneath. In a climate like Cherry Brook's with 1058 mm of rain and 123 cm of snow annually, this is a decisive advantage: steel roofs gradually rust from water penetration and freeze-thaw cycling, while aluminum remains stable indefinitely. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating, applied to both sides of every panel and warranted for 30 years against fading and chalking, adds another protective barrier—this dual-layer protection is why Interlock roofs installed since 1998 in corrosive coastal salt-air environments remain sound, while steel competitors show visible rust within a decade.
How much maintenance does a metal roof actually need?
Far less than asphalt, wood, or tile. Interlock aluminum requires no re-coating, re-sealing, or shingle replacement over its lifetime. Occasional debris removal and gutter cleaning are standard for any roof style, but a metal roof doesn't develop the splits, curls, moss growth, or algae staining that plague competitors in your region's humid, wet climate (1058 mm rain, 93 freeze-thaw days annually). The CALGreen-verified design specifically acknowledges reduced maintenance obligations. Unlike wood shakes that need periodic treatment or asphalt that oxidizes and loses granules in sun and freeze-thaw, aluminum's oxide layer and PVDF coating remain effective decade after decade without intervention, making this the last roof you'll repair.
Is a metal roof more expensive than asphalt over the life of the roof?
Metal roofing typically costs more upfront but delivers far superior long-term value. An asphalt roof lasts 15-25 years and requires tear-off disposal; you'll replace it 2-3 times in the 50-75 year lifespan of Interlock metal roofing. Factor in tear-off labor, disposal fees, and compounding installation costs, plus the damage asphalt allows (ice dams, leaks, moss in your wet climate), and metal becomes the financially smarter choice. The Guardian warranty covers material for the original owner's lifetime and transfers 50 years to the next owner, cementing resale value. Current promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off the installation cost—options that make the transition more affordable while you eliminate the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle.
Will an energy-efficiency metal roof reduce my cooling costs in summer?
Yes, energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect rather than absorb solar heat. Selected profiles offer thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (in Aged Copper Penny), Cool Roof Rating Council rated—meaning they reflect heat that asphalt absorbs and converts to attic temperature. In Cherry Brook, where you enjoy about 3054 sunshine hours annually, this matters: a reflective metal roof keeps summer cooling loads lower, reducing energy consumption and utility bills. The benefit compounds because the aluminum's self-healing oxide layer maintains reflectivity over decades, unlike asphalt that oxidizes and darkens. Consult an energy-efficiency specialist to identify the color that balances your aesthetic preferences with summer cooling savings for your specific home orientation.
