No more problems with moss and lichens, like I had with the " target="\_blank" rel="noopener">asphalt shingles. I am extremely happy with my new Interlock Roofing System and to think it has a lifetime warranty. There have been several rainstorms that last couple of weeks and to me the metal roof had added no additional noise at all. The flat roof is also a welcomed addition. The material quality is tip-notch throughout. A flat roof will normally wear out first; however, this also comes with a lifetime " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty. I have been impressed with Interlock from my first awareness at the local home show. I also did investigation through the " target="\_blank" rel="noopener">Better Business Bureau. During all interaction with Interlock, employees have been professional and courteous. The sales presentations were very informative. I was also able to visit half dozen houses locally that had had Interlock Roofing Systems installed. The benefits of the Interlock roof over an asphalt roof are numerous. In these days of rising energy costs and the high price of fuel, the expected energy savings are welcome. I will also be able to take advantage of the energy credit on my taxes this year. The fact that the ">roofing material deflects the heat versus absorbing it will make the house cooler during the summer months. Working with the installation team of Finn and Alex was a delight. The attention they gave to making sure things were done right was greatly appreciated. From the moment they arrived in the morning, till they went home at night, they were constantly working. During the installation period, there were several rainstorms. Alex and Finn always made sure they had things buttoned up before the storm started. We were lucky enough to get a couple of good days and they took advantage of them by working between 10 and 11 hours those days. If I saw anything that I did not like, it was quickly addressed or the explanation was given why it had to be done that way. The answer was always acceptable to me. They took the time to help me understand the various installation tasks. The longevity of Finn and Alex’s careers with Interlock are testimony to Interlock as a company, their product knowledge and experience levels, and work quality. I would highly recommend Interlock Industries roofs to others.

I had my roof installed in May 2003. I noticed the coating had some peeling in 2021. I contacted them in the beginning 0f June 2021 and by the end of June they had approved my claim. It took 8 months but they replaced my entire roof with no charge at all to me.

Review: April 24, 2004 Completion: April 9, 2004

I recently had Interlock Roofing System installed on my house; I was greatly pleased and surprised by the prompt and professional manner in which it was installed. My house, being older, required much work (new plywood panelling, and I requested additional work (new chimney, venting, window, solar tunnel, removal of an old venting window, and removal of a light panel). The roofing system looks great. As my neighbor said. "I never thought I would say this about a roof, but your roof looks gorgeous." I would recommend the Interlock Roofing System to anyone.

Review: March 24, 2022 Completion: December 5, 2011

Critical: Responsiveness Our original roof that was installed in 2011 is fine, but, like other reviewers, it has been impossible to get a quote for a roof on an addition we are planning. The contractor has tried multiple times to get a quote and was repeatedly told they would relay to request. When he got nowhere, I called and was told Jennifer, the installation coordinator, was out sick, but they would send her an email. They agreed to cc me on the email, but they never did. I just tried calling and had to leave a voice message. Does your company want more business or not?! Service: Roof installation --- Response from the owner: Hi Barbara, I understand Mike Rasmussen has been in touch with your husband and your contractor regarding your project, and it’s in the works. Please don't hesitate to contact me directly if you have any questions or concerns. Review: March 23, 2010

Dear Mr. Michael Baldassari, My wife and I would like to express our satisfaction with your metal roof installation on our house. The roof was installed in late November of 2009, only a few days before we received our first major snow fall. Your roofing crew was extremely professional and their work exceeded our expectations. They installed our roof in an efficient and careful manner; working tirelessly for two and a half days. At completion, they did a fantastic job of cleaning up the yard around the house. In particular, we have really appreciated one of the advantages that your ">metal roof offers. Snow easily slides off and does not build up a snow load. After the second snow fall, I gave away my snow rake knowing that I would never again have to get on an extension ladder to clear a two and a half story roof. Due to the size of our roof, in the past, this task has taken several hours and has been somewhat hazardous. I certainly won't miss this "pleasurable task" of home ownership. Last week on Thursday evening, the 25th of February, we had rain, snow and wind gusts up to 68 miles per hour for several hours. The roof received punishing forces from the wind as well as flying debris from tree branches and pine cones. We were a little concerned that we would see roof damage the next morning. However, upon inspection, the roof remained intact. The resistance to such forces demonstrates how well the metal ">roof has been installed and the topnotch quality of the metal roofing material itself. Knowing that we will never have to replace our roof again has convinced us more than ever that we made a wise investment. The aesthetics of the black ">metal roof has added a richness and quality finish to our home which we will enjoy for many years to come.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in North Grafton

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in North Grafton, Massachusetts. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in North Grafton.

Will a metal roof handle North Grafton's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—aluminum's oxide layer actually strengthens through freeze-thaw stress rather than degrading. North Grafton experiences roughly 83 freeze-thaw days per year, plus about 76 cm of annual snow, conditions that crack asphalt and split wood shakes within 15–20 years. Aluminum alloy (ASTM B209, 3105-H24) expands and contracts uniformly without losing integrity. The four-way interlocking panels shed meltwater instantly, preventing ice dams that trap moisture and cause material failure. This durability is why Interlock panels have been manufactured since 1998 and installed from coastal regions to Antarctic research stations.

How does a metal roof prevent ice dams in our climate?

Metal's thermal conductivity and smooth surface prevent ice from bonding and building up. With about 76 cm of snow annually and gusts reaching 118 km/h, your roof needs both load capacity and melt management. Interlock's lightweight panels (Shingle at 0.41 lb/sq ft) won't sag under snow weight, and their standing seam and slate profiles allow snow to slide cleanly rather than accumulate in valleys. When paired with proper underlayment and venting, the smooth aluminum surface sheds meltwater fast, blocking the freeze-thaw cycle that locks ice into place and damages gutters and fascia. You can add snow guards to control slide-off if needed.

Can a metal roof handle North Grafton's annual rainfall without leaking?

The four-way interlocking design makes leaks virtually impossible—water cannot enter the seams. North Grafton averages about 1,200 mm of rain yearly, yet metal roofs outperform asphalt in heavy rain because water runs off immediately instead of saturating granules and seeping through cracks. Each panel locks to its neighbors on all four sides, and when installed over solid decking with underlayment, no water path exists to your home's interior. The real risk with asphalt is granule loss during heavy downpours; Interlock's Alunar coating is warranted 30 years against degradation, so water-shedding performance doesn't decline over time.

Why doesn't aluminum rust like steel metal roofs?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—instead, it forms a self-healing oxide layer invisible to the naked eye. When scratched during installation, this oxide reforms automatically within weeks, sealing the exposed metal. Asphalt and steel roofs corrode progressively; aluminum only gets stronger. North Grafton's 1,200 mm annual rainfall and freeze-thaw stress accelerate rust in steel and iron, turning a 'budget' metal roof into a leaking liability within 10 years. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) with a two-sided Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish—the same protection applied to coastal salt-air homes. This material will outlast your home.

Is a metal roof safe in North Grafton's gusty conditions?

Yes—Interlock's four-way interlocking system is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph, and North Grafton's typical gusts reach about 118 km/h (73 mph). Each panel locks on all four sides, distributing wind load evenly across the roof rather than allowing individual shingles to lift and peel. The Guardian warranty covers wind performance when installed to specification, giving you peace of mind during the spring and autumn storms common to Worcester County. Unlike asphalt, which develops weak points as UV exposure hardens granules, metal panels maintain structural integrity across their entire lifespan—no progressive wind-resistance decline.

Does hail damage metal roofs, and will insurance help?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 means it passes the toughest standard set by insurance underwriters, so many insurers offer premium discounts for metal roofs. North Grafton's climate includes wind gusts to 118 km/h and about 83 freeze-thaw days annually, conditions that accelerate hail damage in asphalt and wood. Aluminum's hardness resists impact without cracking, and small dents don't compromise the roof's function or warranty coverage. When you file an insurance claim for covered hail damage, your metal roof's proven impact rating strengthens your case.

Can my house support a metal roof without reinforcement?

Almost certainly yes—metal roofing is extraordinarily light. The Mediterranean Tile profile, which replicates the weight of heavy concrete or clay, installs at just 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it roughly 96% lighter than the materials it mimics. This means no structural reinforcement, no expensive framing upgrades, and the ability to install directly over your existing roof. North Grafton experiences about 76 cm of snow annually; asphalt shingles weigh 2–3 lb/sq ft, so metal actually reduces the total load your rafters carry through winter. A structural engineer can verify your specific home in minutes, but the vast majority of homes in the region transition to metal roofs without any reinforcement.

How long does a metal roof last, and what does the warranty cover?

The Guardian warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's one-time transferable, giving a future owner 50 years from completion. Metal roofs routinely last 50–70 years in residential service; the 30-year coating warranty (Alunar 70% PVDF) ensures no fading or chalking even after North Grafton's roughly 3,050 annual sunshine hours. Most homeowners install metal roofing once and never again. The cost-per-year drops dramatically over the roof's lifespan compared to asphalt replacements every 15–20 years.

Do metal roofs need more maintenance than asphalt?

Metal roofs require dramatically less maintenance than asphalt, wood, or tile. Asphalt degrades visibly within North Grafton's humid climate, losing granules during heavy rainfall (about 1,200 mm annually) and cracking through freeze-thaw cycles (83 days per year). Wood shakes rot and split in moisture. Tile cracks under freeze-thaw and becomes a maintenance money pit. Aluminum panels shed debris naturally, never need sealing or coating touch-ups, and are CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance burden. Interlock's two-sided Alunar finish means no oxidation bloom, chalking, or color fade to manage. A simple annual gutter cleaning keeps water flowing—that's it. Your last roof becomes your lowest-maintenance roof.

Is metal roofing better for the environment than asphalt?

Aluminum is roughly 95% recyclable, ending the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle that buries millions of tons of roofing waste annually. When you replace a metal roof decades from now, it goes to a smelter, not a landfill. In contrast, asphalt shingles are contaminated with nails, adhesives, and tar—most cannot be recycled and sit in dumps for centuries. North Grafton generates significant roofing waste every year as asphalt roofs fail under its 76 cm of snow, 1,200 mm of rain, and 83 freeze-thaw cycles. Choosing metal breaks that disposable cycle immediately. Interlock's roofing-grade aluminum (ASTM B209) was manufactured sustainably in Delta, BC, and will remain a resource, not trash.
