Critical: Responsiveness Our original roof that was installed in 2011 is fine, but, like other reviewers, it has been impossible to get a quote for a roof on an addition we are planning. The contractor has tried multiple times to get a quote and was repeatedly told they would relay to request. When he got nowhere, I called and was told Jennifer, the installation coordinator, was out sick, but they would send her an email. They agreed to cc me on the email, but they never did. I just tried calling and had to leave a voice message. Does your company want more business or not?! Service: Roof installation --- Response from the owner: Hi Barbara, I understand Mike Rasmussen has been in touch with your husband and your contractor regarding your project, and it’s in the works. Please don't hesitate to contact me directly if you have any questions or concerns. No more problems with moss and lichens, like I had with the " target="\_blank" rel="noopener">asphalt shingles. I am extremely happy with my new Interlock Roofing System and to think it has a lifetime warranty. There have been several rainstorms that last couple of weeks and to me the metal roof had added no additional noise at all. The flat roof is also a welcomed addition. The material quality is tip-notch throughout. A flat roof will normally wear out first; however, this also comes with a lifetime " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty. I have been impressed with Interlock from my first awareness at the local home show. I also did investigation through the " target="\_blank" rel="noopener">Better Business Bureau. During all interaction with Interlock, employees have been professional and courteous. The sales presentations were very informative. I was also able to visit half dozen houses locally that had had Interlock Roofing Systems installed. The benefits of the Interlock roof over an asphalt roof are numerous. In these days of rising energy costs and the high price of fuel, the expected energy savings are welcome. I will also be able to take advantage of the energy credit on my taxes this year. The fact that the ">roofing material deflects the heat versus absorbing it will make the house cooler during the summer months. Working with the installation team of Finn and Alex was a delight. The attention they gave to making sure things were done right was greatly appreciated. From the moment they arrived in the morning, till they went home at night, they were constantly working. During the installation period, there were several rainstorms. Alex and Finn always made sure they had things buttoned up before the storm started. We were lucky enough to get a couple of good days and they took advantage of them by working between 10 and 11 hours those days. If I saw anything that I did not like, it was quickly addressed or the explanation was given why it had to be done that way. The answer was always acceptable to me. They took the time to help me understand the various installation tasks. The longevity of Finn and Alex’s careers with Interlock are testimony to Interlock as a company, their product knowledge and experience levels, and work quality. I would highly recommend Interlock Industries roofs to others.

Dear Mr. Michael Baldassari, My wife and I would like to express our satisfaction with your metal roof installation on our house. The roof was installed in late November of 2009, only a few days before we received our first major snow fall. Your roofing crew was extremely professional and their work exceeded our expectations. They installed our roof in an efficient and careful manner; working tirelessly for two and a half days. At completion, they did a fantastic job of cleaning up the yard around the house. In particular, we have really appreciated one of the advantages that your ">metal roof offers. Snow easily slides off and does not build up a snow load. After the second snow fall, I gave away my snow rake knowing that I would never again have to get on an extension ladder to clear a two and a half story roof. Due to the size of our roof, in the past, this task has taken several hours and has been somewhat hazardous. I certainly won't miss this "pleasurable task" of home ownership. Last week on Thursday evening, the 25th of February, we had rain, snow and wind gusts up to 68 miles per hour for several hours. The roof received punishing forces from the wind as well as flying debris from tree branches and pine cones. We were a little concerned that we would see roof damage the next morning. However, upon inspection, the roof remained intact. The resistance to such forces demonstrates how well the metal ">roof has been installed and the topnotch quality of the metal roofing material itself. Knowing that we will never have to replace our roof again has convinced us more than ever that we made a wise investment. The aesthetics of the black ">metal roof has added a richness and quality finish to our home which we will enjoy for many years to come.

I had my roof installed in May 2003. I noticed the coating had some peeling in 2021. I contacted them in the beginning 0f June 2021 and by the end of June they had approved my claim. It took 8 months but they replaced my entire roof with no charge at all to me.

Review: April 24, 2004 Completion: April 9, 2004

I recently had Interlock Roofing System installed on my house; I was greatly pleased and surprised by the prompt and professional manner in which it was installed. My house, being older, required much work (new plywood panelling, and I requested additional work (new chimney, venting, window, solar tunnel, removal of an old venting window, and removal of a light panel). The roofing system looks great. As my neighbor said. "I never thought I would say this about a roof, but your roof looks gorgeous." I would recommend the Interlock Roofing System to anyone.

Review: May 13, 2015 Completion: April 21, 2015

I was referred to Interlock Roofing from my Dad, who has had an Interlock Roof since 1999. It looks as good as the day it was installed. I am hopeful my roof will last with similar results. My salesperson, David and my installations coordinator, Jennifer, were prompt, professional, and very helpful.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in South Grafton

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in South Grafton, Massachusetts. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in South Grafton.

Will a metal roof handle Massachusetts freeze-thaw cycles better than asphalt or slate?

Yes—aluminum's non-porous oxide layer prevents water infiltration that cracks asphalt and splits slate during freeze-thaw. South Grafton experiences about 83 freeze-thaw days yearly, and aluminum expands and contracts uniformly without degrading. The 3105-H24 aluminum alloy resists this stress because it contains no iron and its oxide barrier self-heals when scratched, meaning micro-damage that would trap water and propagate cracks simply doesn't threaten the panel. Slate and asphalt both absorb moisture into their structure, leading to spalling and cupping over 15–25 years in your climate.

How does a metal roof handle South Grafton's snow and ice buildup?

The smooth, slippery surface of Interlock panels sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt or wood shake. With about 76 cm of snow annually and typical gusts to 118 km/h, snow slides off the low-friction aluminum before it compacts into ice dams that trap water underneath. Optional snow guards can hold smaller amounts for aesthetic continuity or to prevent slide-off hazards. The four-way interlocking design locks panels together against wind uplift—warranted to 120 mph—so winter storms don't loosen edges or create gaps where melt-water can penetrate.

Can a metal roof rust in a wet New England climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes into rust. Instead, a protective oxide layer forms on the surface and self-heals if scratched, unlike steel roofing which corrodes and deteriorates. In South Grafton's wet climate (about 1198 mm of rain yearly), this is crucial: steel rusts from the inside out, often hidden until leaks appear. Interlock panels carry a Alunar® PVDF fluorocarbon coating (warranted 30 years against chalking and fading) applied to both sides for extra protection. You get a roof that won't decay or stain, even as rain and snow cycle through 83 freeze-thaw days each winter.

Do I need to reinforce my home's structure before installing a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs only about 0.59 lb per square foot—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so it installs directly over most existing roofs. The Slate and Cedar Shingle profiles are even lighter, at 0.41 to 0.58 lb/sq ft. Most homes in South Grafton can support the weight of asphalt shingles without issue, and aluminum roofing typically weighs less, meaning your existing framing carries the load easily. This also eliminates expensive structural upgrades and lets you reroof over your current roof, avoiding costly teardown labor.

How does a metal roof keep out heavy rain in Worcester County?

Four-way interlocking panels create a sealed system where each piece overlaps its neighbors on all four sides, preventing water from flowing sideways under the seams. Installed over solid decking and underlayment (standard in modern reroofs), rainfall of about 1198 mm per year is channeled down the slope and into gutters, just as it would be with asphalt or slate—but without the water infiltration problems that come when asphalt granules wear away or slate cracks. The interlocking design is certified under ICC-ES ESR-1790 (IBC/IRC) for water management, and the lifetime warranty covers leakage, so your investment stays dry year-round.

Will a metal roof survive hail, and can it lower my insurance costs?

Interlock panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest hail resistance available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This rating often qualifies metal roofs for insurance discounts, especially in regions prone to severe storms. While South Grafton's climate centers on snow and rain rather than frequent large hail, the impact resistance means you're protected if severe weather does occur. Contact your insurer with the UL 2218 Class 4 documentation to explore premium reductions; many carriers offer them because impact-resistant roofing reduces claim frequency and cost.

Will a metal roof stay secure in South Grafton's winter wind gusts?

Yes—Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification, which exceeds South Grafton's typical wind-gust speeds of about 118 km/h (73 mph). The four-way interlocking design locks adjacent panels together, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than relying on fasteners alone. This means even during heavy nor'easters or surprise gusts, panels don't lift, separate, or create gaps where water can enter. The interlocking system is certified under ICC-ES ESR-1790 for wind performance, and most homeowners find that metal roofing actually performs better in storms than traditional asphalt, which can lose granules or lift in high winds.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really need?

Minimal. Unlike asphalt shingles, which require periodic inspection for granule loss and replacement within 15–20 years, or wood shake, which needs annual cleaning and sealing to prevent rot and mold in damp climates, Interlock aluminum roofing is virtually maintenance-free. With about 3050 sunshine hours yearly, your roof stays clean naturally; occasional gutter clearing is all that's needed. The Alunar® coating is rated against chalking and fading for 30 years, so colors remain vivid without repainting or refinishing. South Grafton's 1198 mm annual rainfall won't degrade or stain the aluminum, making it the lowest-maintenance roofing choice available.

What does Interlock's lifetime warranty actually cover, and how long will my roof really last?

The Guardian Warranty is a non-prorated, lifetime limited material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's also transferable once—meaning the next owner receives 50 years of coverage from completion. Because aluminum never rusts and the oxide layer self-heals, Interlock roofs installed in South Grafton are designed to last 50+ years without degradation from the 1198 mm annual rainfall, 76 cm of snow, or 83 freeze-thaw cycles. This is the last roof you buy; the warranty reflects confidence that your investment outlasts asphalt (15–20 years) and rivals or exceeds slate or tile in lifespan while costing far less to install.

Is metal roofing actually better for the environment than asphalt shingles?

Yes. Interlock panels are approximately 95% recyclable, ending the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle. When you reroof with metal, you avoid the labor and waste of removing old shingles—you install directly over the existing roof, reducing jobsite debris. At end of life, aluminum retains scrap value and is infinitely recyclable without quality loss, unlike asphalt, which is petroleum-based and single-use. South Grafton's wet climate means asphalt shingles typically fail within 15–20 years, and each cycle means more roofing waste entering landfills. A 50-year aluminum roof means one installation instead of three, eliminating three tear-off cycles and their environmental cost.
