Review: August 20, 2024 Completion: August 13, 2024

From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!

Review: June 23, 2017 Completion: July 19, 2016

Scheduling - Crew showed up without notification. Professionalism - Job was sold prior to arrival. Sales call lasted 45 min and could have been 15. Need to recognize when to close the picture books and close the deal. Crew was polite and cleaned up after themselves but they removed fence sections without requesting permission and did not protect gutters from damage or scuffing. Good crew but when paying a premium for a product exceptional service is expected. No one ever came back for the lawn sign. I had to go looking on your website site for an energy star certificate that should come with the warrantee documents. Would like to be able to purchase the product and install myself.

Review: May 13, 2016 Completion: November 2, 2015

There are areas that they fell short on. One would be the coordinating effort with the solar panel installation project. Another, would be more consistent and timely communication with the ridge cap repair. My feedback is real feedback and I appreciate this opportunity to be called on again for this survey. I needed the extra time, for things to be taken care of. We had to combine a metal roof with the solar panels. It's a smart thing to do together.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Falcon Heights

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Falcon Heights, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Falcon Heights.

How does metal roofing handle Minnesota's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Interlock aluminum roofing sheds snow and ice reliably because its smooth, hard surface resists the adhesion that causes ice dams on asphalt. Falcon Heights receives about 94 cm of snow annually and experiences roughly 81 freeze-thaw cycles per year—conditions that crack and curl conventional shingles. Aluminum's non-corrosive 3105-H24 alloy won't weaken from repeated freezing; it expands and contracts minimally compared to asphalt, staying intact through decades of Minnesota winters. Optional snow guards are available if you prefer to manage runoff in a particular way.

Why can't aluminum metal roofing rust like steel?

Aluminum contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and causes rust—so it is chemically incapable of rusting. Instead, aluminum forms a microscopically thin, self-healing oxide layer that protects the metal underneath. When scratched or damaged, that layer reforms automatically. Interlock's Alunar® fluorocarbon coating (applied to both sides and warranted 30 years) adds a second shield, which is particularly valuable in Falcon Heights' 843 mm of annual rainfall. This dual protection means your roof will not corrode even in heavy moisture, giving you peace of mind for decades.

Can my Falcon Heights home handle a metal roof without expensive structural upgrades?

Yes. Interlock metal roofing weighs as little as 0.41 lb/sq ft for the Shingle profile—roughly 96% lighter than traditional slate or clay tile—so no structural reinforcement is needed. Most Minnesota homes can support Interlock panels installed directly over existing asphalt, which means no costly tear-off and no structural engineer's approval required. This weight advantage becomes clear when you consider that clay tile weighs 8–10 pounds per square foot; Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile comes in at just 0.59 lb/sq ft. Your existing framing bears this load easily, saving you thousands in installation costs.

Does Interlock metal roofing stand up to Minnesota hail?

Interlock aluminum roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and is warranted against perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This certification may help you qualify for insurance discounts on homeowners' policies. Falcon Heights' 18 km/h average winds can carry hail in severe storms, and Interlock's engineered panel design and material durability mean you won't face the hail damage claims that plague asphalt roofs. The Guardian lifetime limited warranty covers impact-related failures, so a severe hail event won't trigger unexpected repair costs.

Will a metal roof stay secure during Minnesota's windstorms?

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph and withstand the 95 km/h gusts typical of Ramsey County's severe weather. Each panel locks tightly to its neighbors, creating a unified, windproof system that won't lift, flutter, or separate. Unlike asphalt shingles—which can tear free in high wind—Interlock's interlock mechanism distributes wind load across the entire roof structure. This design, verified in ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790, makes it the most wind-secure choice for Minnesota's variable spring and autumn conditions, and it may reduce your insurance premium as well.

What warranty comes with Interlock metal roofing, and how long will it last?

Interlock's The Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. If you sell your home, the warranty transfers once to the next owner for a 50-year term from completion—a genuine testament to Interlock's durability across Falcon Heights' 81 annual freeze-thaw days and 843 mm rainfall. This is the only roof you need to buy. Unlike asphalt (which fails in 15–20 years) or wood (which rots in wet climates), aluminum requires no replacement for the life of your ownership.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really need in Minnesota?

Interlock aluminum roofing requires virtually no maintenance—no sealing, no replacing shingles, no algae treatment. Its hard aluminum surface and Alunar® fluorocarbon coating (30-year warranty against chalking) resist dirt, moss, and weathering far better than asphalt or wood shake. Falcon Heights' 3,110 sunshine hours annually and frequent rain keep your roof naturally clean; you may rinse gutters once a year. The CALGreen code recognizes Interlock for reduced maintenance burden. Meanwhile, asphalt shingles curl and crack in Minnesota's freeze-thaw cycles, and wood shake rots in the 94 cm of annual snow. Metal's durability means lower long-term costs and fewer headaches.

Does metal roofing help lower cooling costs in Minnesota summers?

Yes. Interlock's energy-efficient colors feature thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 in light finishes like Aged Copper Penny. These properties reflect solar heat that dark asphalt absorbs, keeping your attic and home cooler during Minnesota's sunny periods (about 3,110 sunshine hours per year). Cooler attics mean your air conditioning runs less, saving energy dollars. Cool Roof Rating Council certification verifies the benefit. While Minnesota winters are long, the reflective advantage in late spring, summer, and early fall adds up. Pale metal roofs also reduce the urban heat-island effect in neighborhoods like Falcon Heights.

How long does installation take, and can you install over my existing roof?

Interlock installation is typically completed in 1–3 days, depending on roof size and complexity. Because Interlock panels weigh only 0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft, most homes can have them installed directly over existing asphalt shingles—no tearoff required. This means no disposal cost, no heavy debris, and no disruption. The installation process uses standard roofing tools and follows ICC-ES ESR-1790 guidelines for air-sealing and fastening. Interlock Metal Roofing, your local installer since 2001, handles all the technical details—flashing, ridge caps, gutters—so your roof is watertight and code-compliant from day one. Minimal disruption and maximum speed make this an ideal choice for Falcon Heights homeowners.

Is metal roofing fire-safe for my Minnesota home?

Interlock aluminum roofing is non-combustible (Class A fire rating available) because aluminum itself will not ignite or spread flame. This highest fire classification is certified in ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 and meets building codes throughout Minnesota. If wildfire smoke or neighborhood fire risk concerns you, non-combustible roofing provides measurable safety and may qualify you for homeowners' insurance discounts. Unlike asphalt shingles (which are petroleum-based and flammable) or wood shake (which burns readily), aluminum eliminates roof-level fire spread. For Falcon Heights residents prioritizing home safety, this is peace of mind that lasts the life of the roof.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Falcon Heights’s climate?

Yes. Falcon Heights averages about 94 cm of snow, 843 mm of rain, roughly 81 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 95 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
