From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!

Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!

To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />

Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!

Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!

Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.

Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.

Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.

Review: January 28, 2016 Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Review: May 21, 2012 Completion: June 30, 2007

Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Gibbon

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Gibbon, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Gibbon.

How does a metal roof handle Minnesota's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Interlock metal roofing sheds snow and ice reliably because its smooth, interlocked aluminum panels resist the freeze-thaw bonding that traps moisture in asphalt. Gibbon gets about 91 cm of snow annually and experiences roughly 79 freeze-thaw days per year—conditions that cause asphalt to crack and curl. Aluminum has no water absorption; its 3105-H24 alloy won't rot or split even after decades of seasonal stress. The four-way interlocking design prevents water infiltration, and you can add snow guards if needed for safety. This durability addresses the exact climate challenge that shortens asphalt life in Minnesota.

Why can't aluminum roofing rust like steel, and why does that matter here?

Aluminum contains no iron—the element that rusts—so corrosion is chemically impossible. Instead, aluminum develops a thin oxide layer that actually self-heals when scratched, providing permanent protection without ongoing maintenance. Gibbon's 744 mm of annual rainfall means moisture is constant, yet Interlock's roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloys remain unaffected. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish on both sides adds an extra 30-year warranty against chalking and fading. For a region where asphalt deteriorates under wet cycles, aluminum's inherent corrosion resistance is a material advantage that compounds over your roof's lifetime.

Will a metal roof hold up in Minnesota windstorms and gusts?

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph, well above Gibbon's typical gusts of about 103 km/h (64 mph). The interlocking design means no fasteners are exposed to wind stress, and each panel locks to its neighbors, distributing pressure across the entire roof system. When installed to specification per ICC-ES ESR-1790, the system has been tested and rated to handle extreme wind loads. Your existing roof structure requires no modifications—the light weight (~0.41 lb/sq ft for the Shingle profile) actually reduces the overall load your framing bears during high winds, compared to traditional materials.

Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's aluminum panels weigh as little as 0.41 lb/sq ft (Shingle) to 0.59 lb/sq ft (Tile)—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This exceptional lightness means you install it directly over most existing roofs without adding load to your home's framing. Even the Tile profile, which replicates heavy traditional roofing, imposes less stress than the asphalt you're likely removing. The ICC-ES evaluation (ESR-1790) confirms this design for retrofit installation. Over Gibbon's 79 freeze-thaw days annually, the reduced structural strain also means less flexing and fatigue on your home—a practical benefit when seasonal temperature swings stress older roofs.

Is a metal roof tough enough for hail, and will my insurance notice?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating, the highest available, and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize this durability and offer premium discounts because claims for hail damage are minimal. Minnesota's spring and summer storms bring hail risk, and aluminum's inherent hardness resists dimpling and puncture better than asphalt or wood shakes. Unlike those materials, aluminum doesn't degrade after impact—the metal's integrity remains unchanged. Contact your insurer with the UL 2218 Class 4 rating to discuss potential savings; the documented impact resistance often translates to real reductions in your annual premium.

What's the warranty, and how long will the roof actually last?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for you as the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. That means no coverage phase-out—it's good for as long as you own the home. If you sell, the warranty transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion, adding resale appeal. With proper installation, Interlock roofing has been in service since 1998 (over 25 years of real-world performance data), installed from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station. For Gibbon's climate of 91 cm snow, 744 mm rain, and 79 freeze-thaw days annually, this warranty reflects Interlock's confidence in its durability under exactly these conditions.

Can a metal roof reduce my cooling costs in summer?

Yes. Interlock offers energy-efficient colors with thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny). These reflective coatings bounce heat away rather than absorbing it like asphalt. In summer, when Gibbon averages about 3215 sunshine hours per year, that reflection meaningfully reduces the heat load transmitted into your attic and living spaces. The Cool Roof Rating Council rates these panels independently. Over a roof's 40-50 year lifespan, the energy savings accumulate, especially if you use air conditioning. The Alunar finish is warranted for 30 years against degradation, so reflectivity stays consistent—unlike asphalt, which darkens and absorbs more heat as it ages.

Is a metal roof fire-safe?

Interlock aluminum roofing is non-combustible and Class A fire-rated (the highest designation under the building code), making it one of the safest roofing options available. Aluminum is inert—it doesn't burn. This matters for Gibbon homes in wildfire-prone regions or near woodland, and it satisfies ICC-ES ESR-1790 and CALGreen building standards. If you live in a Firewise Community or have dense trees nearby, your homeowner's insurance may recognize the non-combustible material with potential savings. Class A rating also demonstrates to future buyers that your roof meets modern fire safety expectations. Unlike asphalt shingles and wood shakes, which are combustible, aluminum provides passive fire protection that never degrades—the material's fire resistance is permanent.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really need?

Interlock metal roofing requires far less maintenance than asphalt, wood, or tile. Aluminum doesn't rot, split, or curl, so you won't replace shingles or repair cracks after freeze-thaw cycles—something Gibbon's 79 annual freeze-thaw days would otherwise trigger. No algae, no moss (the smooth surface sheds debris). You do occasional gutter cleaning (standard for any roof) and a rinse with a garden hose if dusty. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance. Over 40-50 years, you'll spend a fraction of the time and money maintaining metal versus the repairs needed for asphalt splits, wood shake rot, or tile cracks in Minnesota's wet, freezing climate. This low-touch durability is a practical financial advantage.

Is metal roofing really better for the environment than asphalt shingles?

Yes. Interlock roofing is approximately 95% recyclable aluminum, and when it reaches end of life (if ever), it returns to the recycling stream with zero landfill burden. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, are torn off and discarded to landfills by the millions of tons annually—a cycle that repeats every 20-25 years. Gibbon's 744 mm annual rainfall and 91 cm snow mean roof stress is high, and asphalt replacement cycles are frequent. Choosing aluminum means you install a roof once and never contribute to that waste stream. Aluminum's recyclability also holds scrap value, incentivizing proper end-of-life handling. Over your home's lifetime, the environmental impact—measured in landfill diversion, mining pressure, and manufacturing cycles—strongly favors a single, permanent aluminum roof over multiple asphalt cycles.
