Review: August 20, 2024 Completion: August 13, 2024

From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!

Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!

To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />

Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!

Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!

Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.

Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.

Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.

Review: January 28, 2016 Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Review: May 21, 2012 Completion: June 30, 2007

Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Grafton Township

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Grafton Township, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Grafton Township.

Does a metal roof handle Minnesota snow and ice buildup?

Yes—Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered to shed snow and resist ice damming in climates like Grafton Township, where you see about 91 cm of snow annually. The smooth, non-porous surface prevents water from wicking into seams the way asphalt does. In your region's ~79 freeze-thaw days per year, aluminum's oxide layer doesn't degrade; it self-heals. Unlike slate or tile, the panels remain flexible under thermal stress, so ice expansion won't crack them. For extra peace of mind, snow guards can be installed to manage slide timing.

Will freeze-thaw cycles in Minnesota damage an aluminum roof?

No. Aluminum cannot rust or rot—the material's oxide layer actually strengthens with each freeze-thaw cycle rather than weakening. Grafton Township experiences roughly 79 freeze-thaw days annually, a condition that destroys wood shingles and concrete tile, but aluminum roofing-grade 3105-H24 alloy remains chemically stable through that cycling. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating, warranted for 30 years against chalking and fading, protects the panel surface while the underlying metal handles thermal expansion without cracking or splitting—claims covered under the Guardian Warranty.

Why is aluminum roofing better than steel in Minnesota's wet climate?

Aluminum roofing cannot rust because the material contains no iron; it physically cannot undergo iron-oxide corrosion. Instead, aluminum naturally forms a thin, invisible oxide layer that protects the metal underneath and actually heals itself when scratched. Combined with the Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish applied to both sides, this gives your roof exceptional durability across Grafton Township's ~744 mm annual rainfall and variable humidity. Steel roofing, by contrast, relies entirely on coatings; once they're breached, rust spreads. You're choosing a material whose corrosion resistance is inherent, not dependent on paint.

Can this roof hold up in Minnesota windstorms?

Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist winds up to 120 mph when installed to specification. Grafton Township's typical gusts reach about 103 km/h (~64 mph), well within that rating, and the interlocking design distributes wind load across the entire roof system rather than relying on fasteners alone. The lightweight aluminum (about 0.41 lb/sq ft for the Slate profile) means wind pressure has less purchase than on heavier materials, reducing uplift stress. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 confirms the installation meets building code wind requirements for your region.

Does hail damage a metal roof, and does insurance cover it?

Interlock panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This durability may qualify you for insurance discounts; contact your carrier with the impact rating. Grafton Township's thunderstorm exposure is moderate, but when hail does strike, aluminum's work-hardened alloy and interlocking seam design absorb impact without denting or splitting like asphalt or tile would. The Class A fire rating available on non-combustible aluminum also appeals to insurers, often lowering premiums further.

Will a metal roof reduce cooling costs in summer?

Metal roofing can reduce cooling demand through reflective coatings. Interlock's energy-efficient colors achieve thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55, reflecting heat that asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into your home. Grafton Township receives about 3,215 annual sunshine hours—enough that summer heat gain is real. A reflective aluminum roof deflects that solar load, lowering air-conditioning runtime and cutting cooling costs over the roof's 50+ year lifespan. The cool-roof effect compounds year after year, making the initial investment back through reduced utility bills.

Can my house structure support a metal tile roof?

Yes—even without reinforcement. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile installs at only ~0.59 lb/sq ft, making it about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Your home's framing was likely built to handle slate or real tile loads; aluminum tile represents a fraction of that weight, so no structural upgrades are needed. Better yet, because of the light weight, Interlock typically installs directly over your existing roof, eliminating costly tear-off labor. Grafton Township homes built for traditional roofing materials gain all their aesthetic appeal plus the durability and maintenance savings of aluminum—without the engineering expense.

How long does installation take, and do I have to tear off my old roof?

Installation timelines vary with roof size and complexity, but Interlock's lightweight aluminum panels typically install faster than asphalt and often over your existing roof, skipping the tear-off phase entirely. Because the Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Tile, and Standing Seam profiles weigh so little, structural capacity is rarely a barrier. Going over an existing roof saves weeks of labor, reduces debris, and keeps your home cleaner during the job. Interlock, serving Grafton Township and the region since 2001, will assess your specific situation during the site visit and provide a timeline; many residential installs complete within days rather than weeks.

How long will this roof last, and what does the warranty really cover?

Interlock's Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's transferable once; the next owner gets 50 years from completion—a major resale advantage. Aluminum roofing lifespan in residential use often exceeds 50 years without significant degradation, supported by installations worldwide from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations. Combined with the 30-year Alunar coating warranty against chalking and fading, you're purchasing arguably the last roof your home will need.

How much maintenance does an aluminum metal roof require?

Minimal compared to asphalt, wood, or tile. Aluminum roofing requires no re-coating, no replacement shingles, and no wood treatment. Grafton Township's ~744 mm annual rainfall naturally rinses the roof; gutters need seasonal clearing as with any home. Unlike asphalt that hardens and cracks under UV, or wood that rots in freeze-thaw cycles, aluminum's oxide layer and Alunar finish remain stable for decades. CALGreen verification underscores the reduced maintenance burden. A professional inspection every few years is prudent, but repairs are rare—most homeowners find themselves simply enjoying a roof that doesn't demand their attention.
