From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!

Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!

To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />

Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!

Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!

Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.

Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.

Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.

Review: January 28, 2016 Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Review: May 21, 2012 Completion: June 30, 2007

Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Hampton

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Hampton, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Hampton.

Will a metal roof handle Minnesota's freeze-thaw cycles without cracking or warping?

Yes—aluminum expands and contracts with temperature swings, but it won't crack, rot, or split the way asphalt, wood, or tile does. Hampton experiences about 82 freeze-thaw days yearly, cycling between below and above freezing. Interlock's 3105-H24 aluminum alloy is engineered for exactly this stress; the Alunar 70% PVDF coating (warranted 30 years against deterioration per ASTM D4214) protects against the corrosive salt spray that can form when ice melts and refreezes. Your roof moves with the seasons instead of fracturing under them.

How does a metal roof handle Hampton's typical 96 cm of snow each year?

Metal roofing sheds snow exceptionally well because its smooth, hard surface offers less friction than asphalt or wood shake. Hampton receives about 96 cm of snow annually with mean winds around 20 km/h and gusts reaching 97 km/h, so snow doesn't accumulate indefinitely; it slides off or is wind-cleared naturally. The Interlock panels are four-way interlocked, meaning they lock edge-to-edge and won't separate under snow weight or wind load. If you prefer to retain snow for insulation, optional snow guards attach easily. The system is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph, well beyond your region's typical conditions.

Can a metal roof rust in a climate with heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles like ours?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and weakens steel roofing. Instead, aluminum forms a self-healing oxide layer that actually protects the metal underneath. In Hampton's climate, where you average about 831 mm of rain annually and freeze-thaw cycles can trap moisture against a roof, steel would corrode and fail; aluminum stays intact. Interlock applies its Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish to both sides of every panel, adding a second shield against the damp conditions you experience about 82 days per year when temperatures cross freezing. This dual-layer approach means your roof won't rust, pit, or develop the telltale brown streaks that signal steel failure.

Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for a metal roof as heavy as traditional slate or tile?

No reinforcement needed—Interlock's aluminum panels weigh a fraction of what slate or tile demand. The Mediterranean Tile profile installs at about 0.59 lb/sq ft, roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile, while the Cedar Shingle sits at about 0.41 lb/sq ft. This extraordinary lightness means the roof system installs directly over most existing structures without costly structural upgrades. You can even reroof over your current asphalt without tearing it off first, saving labor and keeping roofing debris out of Hampton's landfills. The ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790 confirms the system meets building code whether installed on new framing or over existing roofs.

Will an energy-efficient metal roof actually lower my cooling costs in Minnesota?

Yes, especially during sunny seasons. Hampton averages about 3138 sunshine hours per year, and energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect rather than absorb solar heat—some achieve initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 with thermal emissivity of 0.84. While Minnesota summers are modest, air conditioning still runs, and a reflective roof reduces the cooling load compared to dark asphalt. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating means independent third-party testing confirms the reflectance; you're not relying on marketing claims. Even in winter, the reflective finish doesn't hinder passive solar gain if your roof's orientation captures south-facing sun. The energy savings compound over decades and may qualify for utility rebates in your area.

Does metal roofing hold up in hail, and will my insurance company notice?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4, the highest impact rating available, and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Your region doesn't have extreme hail frequency, but the protection is built in. Many insurers recognize the UL 2218 Class 4 rating and offer discounts because metal roofs are less prone to the leaks and repairs that drain claims. Contact your agent and mention the ICC-ES ESR-1790 compliance and Class A fire rating (non-combustible aluminum); insurers appreciate both. Even if you don't receive a premium cut, you'll own a roof that won't need hail-damage repairs, eliminating the deductible-and-hassle cycle that asphalt owners face.

Will my metal roof stay secure during Hampton's wind gusts?

Yes. Hampton's gusts reach about 97 km/h (60 mph), and Interlock's warranty covers wind resistance up to 120 mph (193 km/h)—more than double your regional peak. The four-way interlocking system means each panel locks to its neighbors on all four edges; they function as one unified membrane rather than individual shingles that lift and separate. When wind hits, the interlocks distribute load across the entire roof plane instead of stressing individual fastening points. Combined with proper installation to specification, this design ensures your roof won't flutter, rattle, or blow away in spring storms or winter blasts typical of Washington County.

How much maintenance does a metal roof actually need compared to asphalt or wood?

Far less. Asphalt degrades under UV and freeze-thaw cycles, requiring frequent inspections, missing-shingle replacement, and gutter debris cleanup. Wood shakes rot in Hampton's 831 mm annual rainfall and need repainting or staining every 10 years. Interlock aluminum doesn't rot, degrade, split, curl, or lose color under the 82 freeze-thaw days you experience yearly. The CALGreen-verified roofing system requires only routine gutter cleaning—no re-sealing, no recoating, no repairs for weather damage. The 30-year Alunar coating warranty confirms the finish resists chalking and fading per ASTM D4214. You've swapped decades of maintenance for a roof that simply performs.

What's the real lifespan and warranty of a metal roof, and does it transfer to the next owner?

The Guardian lifetime limited warranty covers the original owner for the roof's entire life—no prorating. It protects against rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. If you sell your home, the warranty transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion, adding measurable resale appeal. Compare this to asphalt shingles lasting 15–20 years before you reroof, or wood shakes needing replacement every 20–30 years. Interlock has manufactured these panels since 1998, and customers at Antarctic research stations and coastal salt-air homes report decades of flawless performance. A single metal roof installation is genuinely your last roof purchase.

Is a metal roof actually better for the environment than asphalt shingles?

Aluminum roofing closes the loop; asphalt does not. Interlock panels are about 95% recyclable, meaning at the very end of a roof's life—decades away—the material enters the metals recycling stream and becomes aircraft frames, automotive parts, or new roofing. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, are torn off every 15–20 years and dumped into landfills by the thousands of tons. Over your lifetime, you'd reroof two or three times using asphalt, each time generating waste. With a single metal roof lasting a lifetime, you eliminate the tear-off-to-landfill cycle entirely. The CALGreen verification confirms reduced environmental impact. You're not just choosing a durable roof; you're choosing one that doesn't burden Hampton's waste infrastructure for the next century.
