What our customers are saying:
From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!
Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!
To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />
Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!
Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!
Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.
Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.
Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.
My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.
I love my new roof. It looks great and I know the house is in better shape without the heavy deteriorating asphalt shingles. My house is the only one on the block with no snow on the roof, and I can't wait to hear it in the rain
We are delighted with the workmanship and quality of our new roof. It has exceeded our expectations, and we highly recommend an Interlock Roof to anyone looking to replace an old roof.
Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in St. Croix Beach
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in St. Croix Beach, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in St. Croix Beach.
How does a metal roof handle Minnesota's heavy snow and ice buildup?
Metal roofing sheds snow and ice far better than asphalt because its smooth, hard surface prevents the grip that causes ice dams. St. Croix Beach averages about 94 cm of snow yearly, plus roughly 81 freeze-thaw cycles per year—conditions that crack and curl asphalt shingles over time. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels stay flat and won't buckle from thermal stress, and the lightweight design (the Shake profile weighs just 0.58 lb/sq ft) means no structural concern even when snow briefly sits before shedding. Snow guards are available if you want to manage runoff strategically.
Why does freeze-thaw cycling destroy some roofs but not Interlock metal?
Freeze-thaw damage happens when water soaks into asphalt, wood, or concrete, expands when frozen, and cracks the material from inside. Interlock's roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy contains no iron, so it cannot rust or rot—water simply beads and runs off rather than being absorbed. With 81 freeze-thaw days typical in St. Croix Beach and 843 mm of annual rainfall, that's a massive advantage. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating protects the aluminum's naturally self-healing oxide layer even when scratched, ensuring the material stays intact through decades of Minnesota winters.
Is aluminum roofing a good choice for St. Croix Beach near water, or will it corrode?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—it's naturally corrosion-resistant, which is why Interlock has been installed since 1998 on everything from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating (applied to both sides of every panel) is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, adding a chemical barrier that handles moisture and mineral exposure. With roughly 3,110 sunshine hours yearly in your area, UV stability matters too; that 30-year coating warranty is measured to ASTM D4214 and D2244 standards, so you're covered against the salt-air and sun combination.
Can a metal roof withstand Minnesota wind gusts without lifting or rattling?
Yes—Interlock metal roofing is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification, and St. Croix Beach's typical gusts reach about 95 km/h (59 mph), well within that safety margin. The four-way interlocking panels lock together so tightly that individual panels cannot lift or separate. The interlocking design also means no exposed fasteners that could vibrate or create weak points. Even during severe weather, the mechanical bond between panels keeps the roof structurally sound and silent—no rattling or movement that homeowners sometimes worry about.
Can hail damage a metal roof, and do insurance companies offer discounts?
Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating, the highest available, and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Minnesota experiences hail seasonally, and many insurers recognize metal roofing's superior impact resistance; ask your agent whether switching to Interlock qualifies you for a premium reduction. Some homeowners see insurance savings that offset a portion of the upgrade cost. Class 4 means the roof has been tested to withstand 1.5-inch steel balls dropped from 20 feet—far tougher than asphalt shingles, which typically fail at smaller impact sizes.
Will I need to reinforce my home's structure for a metal roof?
No structural reinforcement is needed, which is one of aluminum's biggest practical advantages. The Interlock Tile profile, despite looking like heavyweight clay or concrete, weighs just 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than real tile. Even the heavier Shake profile is only 0.58 lb/sq ft. Older homes in St. Croix Beach, especially those with original wood framing, can often receive a new metal roof directly over the existing one, saving thousands in labor and demolition. This also means no surprise costs after the project begins, and the roof can be installed faster than slate or tile, which would require structural upgrades first.
How much maintenance does a metal roof actually require compared to asphalt or wood?
Interlock metal roofing requires minimal maintenance—mostly visual inspections and clearing debris from gutters, just like asphalt. Unlike asphalt shingles, which need sealing every few years and begin curling and losing granules within 15–20 years, aluminum doesn't degrade. Unlike wood shake or tile, it doesn't split, crack, or need replacement pieces. The 30-year Alunar coating warranty means the finish stays vibrant and protective through St. Croix Beach's harsh seasonal cycles—about 843 mm rain, 94 cm snow, and 81 freeze-thaw days annually. You avoid the repeated maintenance costs and labor that other materials demand, making this truly the last roof you'll buy.
Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?
Over the life of the roof, aluminum metal roofing costs less than asphalt because you buy it once. Asphalt lasts 15–20 years and requires replacement, tear-off, landfill fees, and reinstallation two or three times in 50 years; each cycle incurs labor, waste, and material costs. Interlock's lifetime limited warranty (non-prorated for the original owner, transferable for 50 years) means no fear of premature failure. Add in minimal maintenance, potential insurance savings from Class 4 hail rating, and energy savings from energy-efficient colors with up to 0.55 solar reflectance, and the aluminum roof becomes the most economical choice over 30–50 years. When you sell, the transferable warranty also increases buyer confidence.
What does Interlock's lifetime warranty actually cover, and how long does it last?
The Guardian lifetime limited warranty covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—in other words, every major failure mode. For the original owner, it's non-prorated (no depreciation over time), and you keep it even if you sell; the next owner gets 50 years of coverage from completion. That's decades longer than asphalt (typically 15–20 year warranty) or wood (which can fail mid-life from rot). Because aluminum cannot rust and the Alunar coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, you're protected against the two biggest threats in Minnesota's freeze-thaw and moisture-heavy climate. This warranty reflects confidence in the product's proven track record since 1998.
Is metal roofing fire-safe, and does it matter for insurance or code compliance?
Interlock aluminum roofing is non-combustible and achieves Class A fire classification, the highest rating available. This meets ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790 (IBC/IRC, reissued 2025), the national building code standard, and satisfies CALGreen requirements for reduced maintenance and safer construction. Insurance companies often recognize non-combustible roofing favorably when underwriting homes in fire-prone regions or near forests. While St. Croix Beach doesn't experience the wildfire season of western states, a Class A roof still protects your home better than asphalt shingles, which are combustible and can ignite from flying embers or extreme heat. The added safety and potential insurance benefit make it a prudent upgrade.
