Review: August 20, 2024 Completion: August 13, 2024

From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!

Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!

To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />

Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!

Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!

Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.

Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.

Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.

Review: January 28, 2016 Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Review: May 21, 2012 Completion: June 30, 2007

Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Saint Paul Park

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Saint Paul Park, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Saint Paul Park.

How does a metal roof handle Minnesota snow and ice buildup?

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow and ice effectively because the smooth, hard surface prevents adhesion that traps moisture on asphalt shingles. Saint Paul Park receives about 94 cm of snow annually across roughly 81 freeze-thaw days, conditions that crack and curl traditional shingles as water infiltrates and expands. Aluminum's oxide layer never rots or splits from repeated freezing; optional snow guards can be installed to control release timing. The lightweight design—the Slate profile weighs just 0.41 lb/sq ft—means no ice dam stress on gutters or framing.

Will freeze-thaw cycles damage an aluminum metal roof?

No. Unlike asphalt, wood, or concrete tile, aluminum does not absorb water, so it cannot freeze, expand, and crack. Saint Paul Park averages 81 freeze-thaw days per year, making material durability critical. Roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) is engineered specifically to withstand these cycles without loss of structural integrity. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading under Minnesota's temperature swings. Over the roof's 50+ year lifespan, this immunity to frost damage becomes the defining advantage.

Can an aluminum roof rust in Minnesota winters?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Instead, it forms a thin, invisible oxide layer that protects the metal beneath; if scratched, this layer self-heals automatically. All Interlock panels use 3105-H24 or 3003-H24 aluminum alloy per ASTM B209, and the Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is applied to both sides—extra critical in salt-air and freeze-thaw regions. Saint Paul Park's 843 mm annual rainfall plus 94 cm of snow creates constant moisture exposure, yet the panel warranty covers rust-through for the original owner's lifetime, non-prorated.

Does a metal roof get damaged by hail, and will insurance cover it?

Interlock panels carry UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This rating means the roof performs identically to impact-resistant shingles, and many insurers recognize metal roofing as a loss-control upgrade, potentially lowering your premium. Minnesota's typical wind gusts reach 95 km/h with occasional severe storms; Class 4 panels protect against both high-velocity hail and flying debris. Contact your insurer about discounts; the non-prorated lifetime limited Guardian Warranty backs this durability claim.

Will high winds tear off a metal roof in Minnesota?

The four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Saint Paul Park's typical gusts average 18 km/h with peaks near 95 km/h—well within safe margins. The interlocking design creates a unified envelope that distributes wind load across the entire roof rather than stressing individual fasteners. With proper installation, the system handles severe weather without uplift or panel separation. This warranty applies to both the original owner and one transferable owner, covering the first 50 years from completion.

Can my house support a metal roof, or do I need structural reinforcement?

Aluminum's extreme lightness means almost all homes support it without reinforcement. The Mediterranean Tile profile weighs approximately 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—making it installable over most existing roofs in a single-layer retrofit. For comparison, Saint Paul Park experiences 94 cm of snow annually, creating temporary roof load; metal roofing sheds this load faster than asphalt, reducing time-weighted stress. The Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft is lighter still. A structural engineer can verify your framing, but cost and timeline for reinforcement are rarely needed, unlike traditional tile projects.

How long does an Interlock metal roof last, and what does the warranty cover?

The Guardian Warranty is lifetime limited, non-prorated for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance for as long as you own the home. It transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from installation completion. With no degradation of the aluminum substrate and a 30-year Alunar coating warranty against chalking, this is realistically the last roof you'll install. At 3110 sunshine hours annually and exposure to 81 freeze-thaw cycles, Interlock's panels—manufactured since 1998 in Delta, BC—have proven durability across 25+ years of field performance in comparable climates.

How much does an Interlock metal roof cost compared to asphalt over time?

Metal roofing's higher upfront cost is offset by eliminating the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle every 15–20 years. Saint Paul Park's 843 mm annual rainfall and 81 freeze-thaw days accelerate asphalt degradation; homeowners typically replace shingles twice in 40 years. Interlock's non-prorated lifetime warranty and transfer feature mean one installation lasts multiple owners with zero maintenance costs. Energy savings accrue immediately: energy-efficient colors reflect heat that asphalt absorbs, lowering cooling and heating demand. Over a 50-year period, material cost plus labor, tear-off disposal, and energy use favor metal roofing substantially.

Will a metal roof reduce my heating and cooling costs in Minnesota?

Yes. Interlock's energy-efficient colors have thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council. This means they reflect heat in summer and emit absorbed warmth efficiently in winter, reducing the amplitude of temperature swings your HVAC system must offset. Saint Paul Park averages 8.1°C annually with 3110 sunshine hours; summer reflection lowers AC load, while winter emissivity prevents heat waste. The coating is warranted 30 years against fading, so reflectance performance remains stable across the 81 annual freeze-thaw cycles that degrade asphalt's reflectivity.

How long does it take to install a metal roof, and can it go over my existing shingles?

Installation timelines depend on roof size and complexity, typically 3–7 days for a standard residential home. Yes, Interlock panels install over most existing asphalt roofs without tear-off, because the ultralight profile—Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft, Shake at 0.58 lb/sq ft—requires no structural reinforcement. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 (reissued 2025) certifies the system's compatibility with existing structures under IBC/IRC codes. Interlock Metal Roofing, serving this region since 2001, handles local permitting and installation to spec, ensuring wind and snow load performance across Saint Paul Park's 94 cm annual snowfall and 95 km/h gusts.
