Review: August 20, 2024 Completion: August 13, 2024

From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!

Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!

To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />

Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!

Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!

Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.

Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.

Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.

Review: January 28, 2016 Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Review: May 21, 2012 Completion: June 30, 2007

Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Woodbury

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Woodbury, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Woodbury.

How does metal roofing handle Minnesota snow and ice dams?

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow and ice effectively because the smooth surface resists adhesion, and the lightweight design (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft) eliminates structural stress from Woodbury's average 94 cm of annual snowfall. The panels' durability through about 81 freeze-thaw cycles per year means no cracking, splitting, or material degradation—unlike asphalt shingles that become brittle in cold and lose granules as they thaw. Snow guards can be added if desired, and the metal's thermal properties help prevent ice dams by allowing consistent heat dissipation across the roof surface.

Can aluminum metal roofing rust in Minnesota's wet climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that causes steel to corrode. Instead, aluminum develops a thin, invisible oxide layer that self-heals when scratched, even in wet conditions like Woodbury's 843 mm of annual rainfall. Interlock's roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy is coated on both sides with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, providing exceptional protection through Minnesota's moisture and freeze-thaw cycles. This means no rust stains, no structural weakening, and no corrosion-related leaks over the roof's lifetime.

Will freeze-thaw cycles damage an aluminum metal roof?

No—aluminum's molecular structure makes it inherently resistant to freeze-thaw damage. Woodbury experiences about 81 freeze-thaw cycles annually, which cause asphalt shingles to cup, crack, and lose integrity, but aluminum panels flex slightly and return to their original shape without degradation. The material won't split, rot, or become brittle like wood shingles or concrete tile. Interlock's ICC-ES certified design (ESR-1790) is engineered for exactly these conditions, and the Guardian warranty covers cracking and splitting for the original owner's lifetime, giving you certainty through decades of Minnesota winters.

Does metal roofing need structural reinforcement on my home?

No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile, which replicates the heaviest traditional material, weighs just 0.59 lb/sq ft—approximately 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Even a full roof installation adds minimal load to your home's frame. This lightweight advantage means most existing roofs can be re-roofed directly over old asphalt shingles without costly structural modifications. Woodbury homes with older framing or attic space concerns benefit particularly from this weight efficiency, allowing you to upgrade to a metal roof that looks substantial while actually reducing structural strain.

How well does metal roofing resist Woodbury's wind and gusts?

Interlock metal roofing is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification—well above Woodbury's typical gusts of around 95 km/h (59 mph). The four-way interlocking panel design prevents individual panels from lifting or separating during wind events, distributing stress across the entire roof system rather than concentrating it at fastener points. This mechanical interlock, combined with proper installation, means your roof stays secure through Minnesota's spring and fall storms. The system's proven track record spans installations from coastal salt-air environments to extreme conditions, so local wind variability poses no threat to your roof's integrity.

Will my insurance rates drop with a metal roof rated for hail?

Interlock metal roofing achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurance carriers recognize this durability and offer premium discounts for Class 4 rated roofing. While discount amounts vary by insurer and policy, speaking with your agent about the UL rating can reveal savings opportunities. Beyond potential discounts, the real benefit is peace of mind: a severe hailstorm that would total an asphalt roof and trigger a claim often leaves a metal roof unscathed, eliminating deductibles and claim hassle entirely.

Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Yes—metal roofing is the last roof you'll buy, making it the better lifetime investment. An asphalt roof lasts 15–20 years in Minnesota's climate and requires tear-off disposal, while Interlock's lifetime limited warranty (non-prorated for the original owner) covers rusting, splitting, cracking, and impact damage indefinitely. At today's labor and disposal costs, you'll spend $12,000–$18,000 replacing asphalt twice over 40 years; metal roofing costs more initially but eliminates replacement cycles and landfill fees. Add minimal maintenance, potential insurance discounts, and energy savings, and the aluminum roof delivers better value by year 20—then continues protecting your home for free.

What does Interlock's lifetime warranty actually cover?

The Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's fully transferable to the next owner, who receives 50 years of coverage from the completion date—a significant benefit when selling. Non-prorated means Interlock covers defects in materials or manufacture throughout your ownership at no charge; you won't face escalating deductibles as the roof ages. This certainty sets metal roofing apart from asphalt (which deteriorates predictably) and tile (which cracks). Combined with the Alunar coating's 30-year fade warranty, you have comprehensive protection matching Woodbury's demanding climate.

How much maintenance does a metal roof actually need?

Interlock metal roofing requires dramatically less maintenance than asphalt, wood, or tile. No granule loss to clean gutters, no algae/moss treatment, no cracking repair, no resealing. Twice-yearly gutter cleaning and an occasional visual inspection are your only tasks. Asphalt shingles require moss control and granule removal from gutters every 1–2 years; wood shakes need preventive treatment against rot and insects; concrete tile requires sealing and crack monitoring. Aluminum won't degrade from Woodbury's 843 mm annual rainfall or 94 cm snowfall; its oxide layer is self-healing, and the Alunar coating resists weather damage. This simplicity saves hundreds in maintenance labor over the roof's lifetime while you enjoy worry-free protection.

Does Interlock Metal Roofing actually serve Woodbury homeowners?

Yes—Interlock Metal Roofing has served the Washington County region since 2001 with expert installation and local knowledge of Minnesota conditions. The company manufactures panels in Delta, BC, and handles installation directly for Woodbury homes, ensuring the quality and accountability that matter when protecting your investment. Their familiarity with local freeze-thaw cycles, snow loads, and permit requirements streamlines the entire process. You're working with a manufacturer-backed installer, not a franchise or subcontractor, which means faster response to questions, warranty support backed by the company that built the panels, and installers who understand every detail of how these roofs perform in this specific climate.
