Review: August 20, 2024 Completion: August 13, 2024

From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!

Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!

To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />

Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!

Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!

Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.

Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.

Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.

Review: January 28, 2016 Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Review: May 21, 2012 Completion: June 30, 2007

Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Miesville

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Miesville, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Miesville.

How does a metal roof handle Minnesota's snow and ice, especially with 96 cm falling most winters?

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow and ice effectively because the smooth, slick surface prevents accumulation that traps moisture against the deck. Miesville averages about 96 cm of snow annually and 82 freeze-thaw cycles per year—conditions that trap water under asphalt shingles and cause rot. The lightweight aluminum (Slate profile at 0.41 lb/sq ft) carries snow load safely without structural upgrades, and optional snow guards let you control slide-off timing. Unlike wood shakes that absorb meltwater and split, aluminum's non-porous oxide layer stays intact through repeated thaw cycles.

Does metal roofing crack or split in freeze-thaw climates like Miesville?

No. Aluminum expands and contracts uniformly with temperature swings, so it doesn't develop the microcracks that split wood shakes or asphalt. The metal's crystalline structure, engineered to ASTM B209 roofing-grade 3105-H24 alloy, remains ductile through Miesville's typical 82 freeze-thaw days per year. By contrast, wood and brittle tile absorb moisture during thaw, freeze solid, and fracture. The Guardian warranty explicitly covers cracking and splitting—a promise manufacturers of traditional materials cannot make in this climate. You're also protected by the 30-year coating warranty against water infiltration that triggers ice dam damage.

Why can't aluminum roofs rust like steel ones, and does that matter in Minnesota?

Aluminum contains zero iron, so chemically it cannot rust. Instead, it forms a transparent oxide layer that self-heals when scratched—think of it as nature's own touch-up paint. This matters enormously in Minnesota because you get 831 mm of annual rainfall plus road salt drift from I-94 and local highways. Steel roofs corrode invisibly under that salt spray; aluminum stays inert. Interlock coats both sides of every panel with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon (even the underside), giving 30-year chalking and fading protection. After 25 years in coastal salt air, Interlock roofs show no rust; asphalt and steel degrade faster in that same environment.

Will a metal roof stay on in Miesville's spring storms and wind gusts?

Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist 120 mph wind speeds (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Miesville's typical wind gusts reach 97 km/h, well below that threshold, so the roof is engineered with a 2x safety margin. The interlocking geometry—not fasteners alone—transfers lateral load across the entire panel network, so wind cannot lift individual shingles or shake courses the way it does asphalt. This design meets ICC-ES ESR-1790 (IBC/IRC, reissued 2025) wind provisions for the region. In 25 years of operation, Interlock has installed thousands of roofs in high-wind zones without wind-related warranty claims.

Does a metal roof survive hail, and can I get an insurance break?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4, the highest impact rating available—it's warranted to resist perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. The Guardian warranty covers impact damage even after major hail events. Because aluminum is non-combustible and Class A fire-rated (when ordered in that spec per ESR-1790), insurers often offer discounts on premiums; the metal won't ignite from flying embers. Many carriers also reduce hail deductibles for Class 4 roofing. Contact your agent with Interlock's UL 2218 and ESR-1790 certifications to explore available credits. In Miesville's climate zone, hail resistance buys you peace of mind without the dent-prone vulnerability of asphalt or the repair cost of clay tile.

Can metal roofing cut summer cooling costs in Minnesota?

Yes, if you choose energy-efficient colors. These profiles feature thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), reflecting heat that asphalt absorbs and converts to attic temperature gain. Over Miesville's 3138 annual sunshine hours, that reflection accumulates. Modeling shows cool-metal roofs reduce summer cooling demand by 10–15% compared to dark asphalt in similar climates. The Cool Roof Rating Council certifies Interlock's reflective colors, and many utilities offer rebates for energy-efficiency roofing. In winter, the reflective finish doesn't impair heat retention; insulation R-value is what matters then. Switching from asphalt to a reflective metal profile is one of the easiest efficiency upgrades with no retrofitting.

Do I need to reinforce my house to support a metal roof that looks like tile or slate?

No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs just 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than real concrete or clay tile, which run 13–20 lb/sq ft. This dramatic weight difference means the metal roof exerts far less load on your framing, so you avoid the expensive foundation or truss upgrades that slate and tile demand. You can often install Interlock directly over your existing asphalt roof (Miesville's standard), saving tear-off labor and landfill costs. Even if your home was built 40 years ago with a lighter design load, the metal profile will fit safely. The weight savings also mean easier installation and lower labor time, keeping your project on schedule.

How long will a metal roof last, and what does the warranty actually promise?

The Guardian provides a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. That's not marketing language—it means claims aren't reduced by age. The warranty is one-time transferable, giving the next owner 50 years of coverage from completion, which translates to strong resale appeal. Combined with Interlock's 30-year coating warranty (ASTM D4214 / D2244 measured chalking and fading), you're protected through two generations. In real-world service since 1998—from salt-air coastal homes to an Antarctic research station—Interlock panels have delivered 20+ year roof lifecycles with zero planned replacement cycles. Over Miesville's 82 annual freeze-thaw days, that durability is worth the investment.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood shakes?

Metal requires virtually none. Asphalt shingles need annual inspection and patching (especially in freeze-thaw climates), while wood shakes demand regular treatment against moss and rot. Interlock's non-porous aluminum resists moss and algae growth; no chemical treatments needed. After Miesville's 831 mm of annual rain, simply let weather rinse the panels—no climbing to scrub, no professional maintenance contracts. The Alunar coating is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance requirements. Your only occasional task is clearing debris from gutters. Because the panel surface is hard and smooth, it never needs sealing, re-staining, or impact repair like asphalt patching. This simplicity nets you back the labor hours you'd otherwise spend maintaining a traditional roof through the decades.

Who installs Interlock roofs in Miesville, and how experienced are they?

Interlock Metal Roofing, the manufacturer and regional installer, has served the area since 2001—over 20 years of installation expertise in Dakota County's frost-heavy, snow-laden winters. Because Interlock builds and installs its own product, you're not relying on a third-party contractor learning someone else's system; the installer understands every interlocking detail and Miesville's specific freeze-thaw stresses. They're familiar with local building department requirements, typical roof deck conditions, and the exact snow and wind loads our climate produces. You get direct access to technical support, warranty administration, and any future service from the company that stands behind The Guardian warranty. This local expertise ensures your roof is installed to specification and performs as designed through Minnesota's demanding seasonal cycles.
